Hello all! So I have been using Emby for quite awhile for media files and it works great. I would really like to try setting up an IPTV service with Emby to watch live TV streams and record them. I am completely lost on this though. Can anyone help me with setting this up or point me in the right direction? Thanks, Justin

My guide is almost empty. I'm posting a different question about that. I'm watching the show live but I can't figure out how to start recording. Also, in general how do i do a manual recording? Edit: Oops wrong forum, should I re-post this somewhere else?

Got my Emby server connected to a HDHomeRun Connect Duo and it's happily recording all the things. However, subtitles are not available when playing back my DVR recordings. If I play the .ts files in VLC, it will detect and show the embedded subtitles. VLC actually picks up 4 different sets of subtitles, but only the first one does anything. I know I can configure OpenSubtitles and have it download the subtitles. Or, I could set MCEBuddy to extract them to a .srt file. Though both of these options seem unnecessary since the subtitles are embedded in the .ts files. Am I doing something wrong here, or has this functionality not been added yet? I found some previous posts asking about Live TV subtitles as well. Is there any status update on that? That's a feature I would really love to see. Thanks for the support and this great software.

Is Emby currently able to set up backups for M3U streams? For example, if I'm streaming Fox from link A thru Emby and all of a sudden link A goes down, is there a way for Emby to automatically start streaming from link A's backup Link B. If Emby is not currently capable of doing this then is there something already in the works or does anyone know of a third party plugin able to achieve this?

Hello Community, I wanna ask, is there any way, to ONLY tunnel the M3U Connections through a Socks proxy witch is running? I don't want to proxy all Connections on this Server, only the Connections to the Stream-Servers! Thanks, Nice to Hear from you Guys. And BTW: I Use Emby on Debian!

Was just trying out a little live TV on the main PC, watching via Chrome, were it transcodes, and ET, where it direct plays, and in both (and I think on other devices like Fire TV) picture and audio are out of sync. This is on Windows using Nextpvr plus plugin. Would logs help with any possible diagnosis ?

Hi, Some time ago I paid to unlock the Live TV functionality of Emby's Android TV app. After the switch to version 3.6 and then 4.0 of the server, the Live TV functionality has been disabled in the app. I understand that the model changed and now we can't get Live TV through the web app (or any other way) if not using an Emby Premiere subscription, which I'm upset about, but can comprehend. TV guides are not available in my country, I provide the guide data through NextPVR and don't care about DVR, so the old model used to fit me fine (it just never made sense to me to subscribe to Premiere due to these limitations, and were the reason I chose Emby over Plex when implementing my tuners in Chile). However, I did pay for the unlock specifically for the Live TV functionality and now that feature has been removed. Given the above: is there a way to enable just Live TV (no DVR or guide or stuff) for use on the Android TV app, or can I ask a refund for my app purchase? I'm aware that it was a small fee and I'm not getting any richer if I got a refund, but I am upset about specifically paying for a feature as promised, that has later been removed arbitrarily. Also, are there plans for a "lite" Premiere subscription for users that cannot access the full fledged features (such as TV guide)? Thanks and regards, Darren -
Was wondering if there was a way to enable the channel numbers in the Live TV Channel guide on android? I have a lot of channels, searching them hangs up the server and scrolling through them I can easily get lost as to where I am in the lineup.

Don't think this feature exists, if it does can someone please tell me how to go about doing it? I would like to limit Live TV channel availability to specific users. For example if I have 10 channels, user 1 can access channels 1-4 while user 2 can access all 10. I know I can manually select available channels for all via the HDHomeRun but its an all or nothing solution.

So I noticed on my emby server that when watching live tv, my storage space is declining. Once it fills up, anyone watching TV is then kicked off and the temp files are deleted. Would the temp recording of what you are watching so you can rewind and fast forward be saved in the cache folder?

Just wondering if this is normal or is this something not yet implemented where live tv auto grabs the fanart for things that are currently on? See attached image

Hi Luke, I just checked the github release page before updating Emby to 3.2.60.0 and unfortunately I found this in the release notes: * Remove live stream probe to improve start time I understand that this is supposed to be an enhancement since live tv streaming will start faster but for some user like me this decision is an important setback. The reason is that without probing Emby can't tell if the live tv stream has subtitles or different audio tracks. This may not be relevant for users in the US but in many other countries, and more specifically in Europe where I live, is very common that TV broadcasts have subtitles and audio track in different languages available. So for example a movie in a FTA channel may be broadcasted with spanish and english audio tracks and also with spanish subtitles available. Now that live stream probing was removed, we are stuck with the default audio track and no subs. I guess the probing code is still around since if I enable stream probing in the TVH plugin (which I contributed in the past) Emby is successfully probing the stream and showing the audio and subs options in the player. Would it be possible to add a configuration parameter to enable or disable live tv stream probing in the server dashboard? It doesn't matter if it's disable by default but this will allow users to enable it if needed (like in my case) assuming that streaming will have a small delay before starting. I can switch back to the TVH plugin for live tv but in the last months I got used to the built-in live tv support and I'm happy with it. I hope you understand. Thanks. Fer

Hi all, Sorry if it's a simple/dumb question... But I am recording a christmas calendar show (24 episodes). Some are "just" shown in recorded TV, some are in a subfolder marked "specials" under the series' name. Is it possible to edit (somewhere on the server web interface) the way/keywords used for tagging/sorting recorded TV? I'd prefer Emby NOT to trigger/sort using "spcials", but I don't know where to find this (?). Thanks Jennice

Hello, I've started using IPTV recently and I'm experiencing some strange behaviour with recording live TV. I set a channel to record this mornings (yes - its Judge Judy - no commentary please). I see the recording in the proper folder, but it is only recording the first ~20 seconds. The same thing happened with a channel I recorded last night, but then it did work for a later rerun of the same channel. I have tried to attach the appropriate part of the server log, but please let me know if you need something else. Thanks, Jason ServerLog.txt

Hello, I've been noticing duplicate recordings of PBS shows for my kids. I'm attaching the logfile that includes the duplicate recording for "Peg Plus Cat S01E07". What I've noticed is that one of the resolution is 1080 and the other is 720 and am wondering if that is the root cause of the duplicates. I'm attaching logfiles, and the file properties for review. If that's the cause, is there any resolution (no pun intended) not to get the dups. Thanks Log.txt

Hello, I've been running an Emby server at home for quite a while, but I've never set up live TV. I have Cox Communications, with a box beside my server (Running one Windows 10). Could anyone like to a guide or something? I looked around but I guess I don't know the correct search terms to use because I'm not finding anything related to this. Greetings! I recently swtiched from Plex to Emby because of some technical problems and I really satisfied with the software! However, I have a small problem with one of the media players in our house. We have two Asus O!Play and one WD TV Live players. And the WD one wont play .mkv files from the server, only .avis. If I try to play a .mkv files, it loads a bit, than its says that is cannot be played, etc. I checked around in the forum for some information about it, and I found this one. So I edited my WD TV Live .xml file according to this topic but my problem still persist. Can somebody please help me solve this problem? Thanks in advance. Hi All, We are a school with 1500 users and absolutely love this product, another feature that would be great to have is On Demand TV, BBC iplayer, Channel 4, Channel 5 and any other on demand channels, i know ITV player is there and works well. is there more on demand players in the works? Hi, I'm running MediaBrowser for Win7x64 and I use Media Center TV with set-top-boxes. It's great to be able to log in to media browser outside of my home and watch live tv or older recordings from a web browser. The only thing that bugs me is when I watch active recordings. I cannot seek. Like right now I'm recording a live tv sports event and it's a 360 minute recording and the only way for me to watch the active recording is to start from the beginning. If I stop and want to start again later, I have to start from the beginning. It's impossible to seek into the active recording. Once the recording has finished It's just like a normal video file and I can seek but I often I would like to watch when recordings are active. For me this is almost an unusable feature to use. Would it be possible to make seeking available feature for active tv recordings (WMC) ? Best regards, Arni Thor

Would it be possible to add Live TV streaming into the android app ? I only have NextPVR configured. Wasnt sure if they have a joint api you can use or it would be seperate coding for each

Hey guys, I was going through the media browser server web code and noticed 3 files: livetvchannels.html, livetvguide.html, and livetvrecordings.html as well as 3 javascript files which link to that. All in the appdata-> MB server-> system -> dashbord-ui folder. if you go to http://localhost:8096/mediabrowser/dashboard/livetvchannels.html you will be able to see the page.
