photo won't load on synology DSM 7.1

Using Emby version 4.6.7.0. - videos in a folder will load - photo in folder will not load - Emby user has been given permission - rescan numerous times. not updating What am I doing wrong? I'm currently testing this to see if it is worthwhile for the paid version. Is the reason because I need the pay reason.

    DSM 7 New permissions issues?

I am trying to get to the bottom of this issue and think I am on the right track. I use Emby on my NAS and am using the Server Configuration Backup plug-in to back up the config to a shared folder on my NAS. I then have a Rsync job running from a ReadyNas to back up some of the shared folders from my Syno. This has been working fine for years. Now that DSM 7.1 is out I figured it was time to make the jump from DSM 6. I am currently running DSM 7.1-42661 Update 2. Now I get permissions errors for only this backup folder when trying to do the Rsync backup: Failed to run rsync, return rc 23 rsync: send_files failed to open "Emby/ConfigBackup/Emby Backup - 2022-07-05 11.23.49 - Auto/ScheduledTasks/055748bc-3993-6036-040f-204aeacca405.js" (in Backup): Permission denied (13) Emby is running as a System internal user and that shows as the owner of the files in File Station. I also see they greyed (meaning inherited) permissions as expected including my Rsync user. If I click the Apply to this folder, sub-folder, and files on the Emby backup folder in File Station I can then run the Rsync job without errors. I found this thread that seems to be talking about the same type of issue: Another DSM package permissions issue. That links to Github Issue where they talk about it being an ACL issue in DSM 7. Am I on the right path here? Is there a scheduled task I could run to re-apply the permissions to this folder after the Emby backup job and before the Rsync job?

    Can't start Emby server

Hello, Everything was working great with Emby except the fact that when I was connecting through OpenVPN it was always transcoding which is not performing well in a weak NAS like DS218. In my attempt to fix that I went on the server settings and edited the LAN networks to make the VPN an internal network and avoid transcoding. Unfortunately, I made a mistake and entered the wrong IP ranges so I couldn't access the server anymore. Then digging an even bigger hole for myslef, I stopped Emby server, connected with WinSCP to the NAS and edited the system.xml file by deleting the IP ranges I had added. The file looks like this now: I saved the file, restarted the NAS but Emby server is still not starting. I either get the error message "Failed to run the package service" or it starts and immediatly stops again. Last but not least, the first time I clicked run, DSM prompted to add Firewall settings that I didn't have before and despite the fact that I added them, they didn't make any difference. In the logs I found the error below: Error Server: Error processing request *** Error Report *** Version: 4.6.7.0 Command line: /volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/system/EmbyServer.dll -programdata /var/packages/EmbyServer/var -ffdetect /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/bin/ffdetect -ffmpeg /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/bin/ffmpeg -ffprobe /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/bin/ffprobe -nolocalportconfig -ignore_vaapi_enabled_flag -pidfile /var/packages/EmbyServer/var/EmbyServer.pid -defaultdirectory /volume1/Public -updatepackage emby-server-synology7_{version}_armv8.spk Operating system: Linux version 4.4.180+ (root@build4) (gcc version 8.5.0 (GCC) ) #42661 SMP Fri May 27 17:13:39 CST 2022 Framework: .NET Core 3.1.21 OS/Process: arm64/arm64 Runtime: volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/system/System.Private.CoreLib.dll Processor count: 4 Data path: /var/packages/EmbyServer/var Application path: /volume1/@appstore/EmbyServer/system System.Exception: System.Exception: Error starting ffmpeg at Emby.Server.MediaEncoding.Api.BaseStreamingService.StartFfMpeg(StreamState state, String outputPath, CancellationToken cancellationToken, Boolean acquireResources) at Emby.Server.MediaEncoding.Api.Hls.DynamicHlsService.GetDynamicSegment(StreamRequest request, String playlistId, String segmentId, Int32 subtitleStreamIndex) at Emby.Server.Implementations.Services.ServiceController.GetTaskResult(Task task) at Emby.Server.Implementations.Services.ServiceHandler.ProcessRequestAsync(HttpListenerHost appHost, IRequest httpReq, IResponse httpRes, RestPath restPath, String responseContentType, CancellationToken cancellationToken) at Emby.Server.Implementations.HttpServer.HttpListenerHost.RequestHandler(IRequest httpReq, ReadOnlyMemory`1 urlString, ReadOnlyMemory`1 localPath, CancellationToken cancellationToken) Source: Emby.Server.MediaEncoding TargetSite: Void MoveNext() Any ideas how I can get it back working?
  4. Now I know I must have done something wrong. I'd seen the notice to update Emby for a week or so and I'd been putting off updating to DSM 7 so I did them together. Now when I go to Emby it wants me to set everything up like a new installation. My files are still on the hard drive so I figure I did something wrong in the installation. Help. How do I get Emby to see everything that is already there? Is there an easy way or do I have to go through everything and reset Emby up?
  5. So I attempted multiple methods to backup emby and follow guides for accurate removal and reinstall from DSM 6 > 7. After encountering a host of issues I gave up the ghost and just went ahead and uninstalled emby, updated the server and reinstalled. I knew this would require me recreating the server - whatever, I have time. Now that I've done this I can't see any of my media when adding libraries. They don't even appear to scan - I see no percentage check or anything. Just empty libraries. I've used the emby install from package center and the updated one with a manual pkg I've tried changing permissions on the shared folders to other users, including the embysvr user itself. I've tried reinstalling. I've tried chowning all my folders. I've tried everything, up to and including making embysvr an admin! Nothing is working! Any assistance, next steps or links to guides would be more than welcome. embyserver.txt

    DSM 7 update prioblems !!!

I think I screwed up !!!! I installed DSM 7 with the old version installed and not backed or move which wouldn't run after upgrade , so I just installed it and found the DSM 7 version which I installed manually and it looked to be working BUT it looks like I didn't have the file permissions to get in any of my shares . I don't have a emby group or user or the emby_pk which I'm meant to delete , should I make one ?
