Sorry if this may be a duplicate post, but I am new to Emby and testing out all the features I will use regularly. On Android, when I download a show or movie etc, it will start the transfer and things are fine on that end. However, if I accidently chose the wrong one, or chose to download a whole season instead by accident, when I go to cancel the download (or rather, select it and choose "Remove") the download continues regardless. Is this by design? Or is there a better way to stop a download after it's started? I downloaded a whole season by mistake, so I removed that download and started a download for a single episode. However, that single episode was stuck in Ready To Transfer for a long time and I couldn't figure out why, I found that it was still transferring that whole season despite me removing it. EDIT: I also noticed that once a removed download finishes, it still remains in the downloaded TV section but is not in the "Manage Downloads" section. So when in 'Downloads' you will see the episode there, but if you try to play it, it will say the content is no longer available. This makes it a bit confusing and troublesome to manage downloads you otherwise canceled.

Hi, Is there any way to download subtitles when downloading a movie from the server? If I access my library from a friends house and download a movie, the subs don't download with it.

Hi all, I've posted a similar topic before. Then user ebr asked me to place my topic in the appropriate forum. Since I'm convinced this is a feature request I'll try to formulate my question more in that fashion. Introduction I've purchased Emby Premiere because I wanted to make use of the Download/Sync functionality. Sadly I don't use it, because of the way it's implemented. Feature Requests It would be really nice to have the Users "Download & Sync" settings and behavior to be aligned with the Users "Media Playback" settings and behavior. Explanation part 1 So what does this mean? It means that in the Emby settings (Server -> Users -> User) the following configuration is possible for "Media Playback": It would be really convenient to have the exact same options in the "Download & Sync" section of the same page, which now only contains the following: Why? I only wan't some really efficient/cheap transcoding on my server like subtitles, audio and media container (mkv/mp4). No video encoding/transcoding! Because it's too expensive + I'm really sure all my devices can decode H264 and all my movies are H264. Not sure why Emby something things it need to re-encode H264 to H264, but it does. Explanation part 2 The second part of this feature request is about the behavior. It would be really nice to have the exact (or at least the setting to enable this) behavior when you click "Play" (Streaming a movie/Media Playback) and when you Click Download (or Sync). This means that in both scenarios the mobile Emby app (iOS, Android, Browser, etc) will accept the options you filled in on the movie/serie page. For example, when I have this options enabled on my Android phone (notice Subtitles and Version): So I've selected a version called "Mobile" which is 720p H264 including AAC stereo audio and English .srt subtitles. I'm 100% sure all my (portable) devices can playback this. Clicking the Play button will: Play the "Mobile" 720p H264 version with the English .srt subtitles. As expected. On each (portable) device without any problem. Clicking the Download button will, depending on the device I'm on: Download the "Mobile" 720p H264 version with the English .srt subtitles. As expected; Download the "Mobile" 720p H264 version without English .srt subtitles. Download another version (sometimes even a 8GB one) with or without English .srt subtitles Takes the "Mobile" or a random other version and starts transcoding the video and/or the audio and afterwards downloads the transcoded version with or without English .srt subtitles. It wouldn't be a surprise that pressing the Download button is a surprise every time, but the nice thing is that it doesn't have to! Please let me know what you think of this idea. It doesn't have to replace the existing implementation, but in my opinion it would be a very nice addition to at least make the option available to treat "Downloads" the same as "Streams". Have a nice Holiday Season (Fijne kerstadagen in Dutch)!

Can someone help me understand the server-side user setting called "Allow downloading that requires transcoding"? Server > Users > {select a user} > Downloading There are two settings that can each be independently enabled/disabled per user: * Allow media downloading * Allow downloading that requires transcoding The first seems pretty self-explanatory and I have it enabled for all users. The second setting is relatively new (I don't remember seeing it before) and it confuses me. I understand what transcoding means in the context of video playback over the network, but not what it means in the context of downloading a media file. What does transcoding have to do with a file download? Any help you could give me in understanding that setting would be appreciated. The wiki doesn't show the setting (yet?).

Emby Server - Per Library Streaming/Downloading Permission Settings
Phantomwalker posted a topic in Feature Requests
Hi guys... I was wondering if there's any plans to make users on a server have the ability to set per library permissions. For example on my Music folder I might want some users to be able to stream/listen to the library, but not be able to download them. Others I might want the other way around. But at the same time. I may want them to not be able to encode/stream video to their devices but instead download the full file and play it locally. (Guests for example who are not in my network.) Where as another user I might prefer that they have the ability to stream or download video but have no download access to a single library. Basically I would like to see/have per library permissions for each user if possible. (Maybe adding group permissions might make more sense if you have to go down this road?) Hope that makes sense? If it needs further clarification or a flow chart or something let me know. Thanks! -Phantom -

I've been looking at the wiki, and at older forum posts; I can't seem to figure it out. No metadata images are coming through. Any tips on where I should refer to for this? edit: May be useful to indicate this is running on CentOS 7, Emby stable v3.0.5712.5874.

So i did a clean format/reinstall of my laptop. so put Emby on with a fresh install... but then copied over everything from the backed-up \Emby-Server\data folders, including all the images, etc... But i deleted the library.db & refreshinfo.db so the library would rebuild... Does the server use the images that are already downloaded, or does it just download everything a fresh and overwrite whatever's already there?

I have noticed that the trailers plugin is no longer downloading the trailers anymore. If I clear the cache/channels cache/temp cache/transcoding-temp and the place to which the plugin moves the downloaded trailers (which is on a different set of drives) and refire the channel downloading task, it will download the trailers the first time around but the plugin seems to lose them in the shuffle to the different drives. Then the plugin starts spewing errors about how the file path already exists when it attempts to redownload the trailers. I am running Linux server 3.0.5326 and the latest trailers plugin. server-log.txt

A quick question about channel downloading. I have recently added some RSS feeds to the podcast plugin. I enabled channel downloading (due to slow connection speeds for the server) and fired off the scheduled task to download the latest several episodes of my favorite podcasts. I configured the downloaded content that is older than 14 days to be automatically deleted. I now have a HUGE number of files in the downloads directory (I think because the podcasts I subscribed to have RSS dating all the way back to 2012) and I the task has been running for close to a week now without stopping. Here is the question: does the server track how old the podcast content is based on the day it was downloaded (I assume the creation time of the file) or by the publication date of the specified episode? Or is the above behavior a bug?
