Does Emby support serving ccocntent from multiple locations (i.e. CDN)
EatSleepCodeDel posted a topic in General/Windows
Hi there, Lately, I have found that my upstream internet connection is running out of bandwidth as multiple people are streaming remotely at the same time. I have access to a second internet connection (in another location). I have a couple of ideas on how I could utilise both internet connections to serve content, however, I am not sure if Emby will support some of these methods and was hoping for some guidence. My ideas are: Idea 1: Co-Located File Stores w/ Single Emby Instance (Preferred idea - But probably not possible) In Location A (LocA) I would have my main server with Emby installed, accessible over the internet at foo.com In Location B (LocB) I would store a file server that is mounted into Emby. This file server is not internet accessible (e.g. Behind a NAT). Through some magic files served from LocB would go directly to the client and not via the LocA Emby instance/internet connection. If I mounted LocB files onto the LocA server (e.g. cifs/rclone/etc) and a user started streaming content from the LocB file server, the flow of traffic would be: LocB -> LocA -> client. This does not solve my issue as I want the flow to be LocB -> client. I assume this is not possible? Idea 2: Replicated Instances (Probably not data safe) LocA has a file store and Emby instance LocB has a file store and Emby instance Sync is setup to replicate content and config Load balancer at foo.com which routes users to the most free instance I can see watch history, user settings, etc not being reliable particually if a client is bounced between instances. 2 way sync would also not be functional, probably. I can also see data corruption in the config files. I dont think this is a great idea either. Idea 3: Replicated Content, Seperate Instances Sync content between LocA and LocB, each with a standalone/independant instance of Emby. Some users will be created on LocA, accessible at fooA.com, others created on LocB, accessible at fooB.com Probably the safest way, though a lot duplicated manual work. I think I would probably need a second Emby Premier license too? Misc Ideas: Upgrade my internet connection ($$$$) Stop using ancient hardware and get something that supports QSV and transcode on the fly at a lower bitrate ($$$$) Tell some of my users/family to suck it and get Netflix subscription Any help or other ideas is greatly appreciated. Thanks! -
Can it be made so that tags that are listed in a user's profile as "Restrict Items With Tags" are themselves hidden as well. Currently it does hide the content that is restricted, but if I log on as a user who can't see that content and then go to movies -> tags, then I can see the hidden tag listed and it even shows a preview of the items tagged. So while users can't play any blocked content they do get a glimpse of what is being blocked or even THAT something is being blocked, which isn't desirable. I'd like to have that tag be completely invisible to the user it's being applied to.

Hi, as I have troubles with my mixed folder, I thought a change will help me When you have a mixed folder, the automatic scan identifies one folder as tv-show, you have no chance to declare it as movie. My idea now: When you try to identify the folder / content via ID, then it shall display all results, not only the ones for which it is defined. I don't know if this is feasible

Hi EMBY brewers, I have a question for you. When I start my Emby app and the server is not reachable or down or my device is in flight mode, the EMBY app will take some time to determine if the server is really down. After that it will present me with a few options to connect to other servers and last but not least (and the whole reason for being offline) the option to listen and watch my downloaded content. The problem with this is, it can take some time for the Emby app to determine there is no server, resulting in me waiting before I can select the "offline content". Now for the question: Can there be a option to go straight to the offline content, even though the app is still searching for the server??

I was looking at this post https://emby.media/community/index.php?/blog/1/entry-177-manage-your-home-with-emby-users/ And noticed that not only am I missing the "Content Access" section on my user management panel. I am missing "Channel Access" Is this something that is just being posted as a preview for a future release? Channel Access restrictions would be very useful as I have multiple users and only 3 tuners and am looking to restrict specific users to specific live tv channel access in order to keep necessary tuners available and concentrate other users towards a single tuner. I've posted a feature request for this at some point before, but at the time the only solution was to use parental controls to restrict channel access. But I am looking for something more specific.

I was wondering how I can add a website as a folder/source. For example if I wanted to add https://download.blender.org/apricot/trailer/ how would I do this?

I made the switch from Plex to Emby not that long ago, and I really do like how much Emby can be customized. I currently have 12 libraries listed on my home screen, but what I don't like is that I can't customize how they appear in relation to the number of rows. For example, right now 8 of the 12 libraries appear in the top row, then the other 4 in the 2nd row (this is when viewed on a 65" TV, maybe it's different on a standard monitor). I'd like to be able to customize the home screen further than is currently possible by telling Emby how many rows to display, then which libraries go in each row (in my case 6 in the top, 6 in the bottom). A further step would be to then center each row on the screen instead of the current left justification. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I've just discovered this issue whereby when a user searches my Emby server for a movie that is not in the library, the movie still gets returned as a search result. It shows a play button just like a movie in the library would do, and clicking on the cover shows full metadata. When the play button is clicked, the player starts, but hangs (obviously due to the item not being in the library to play in the first place). I have verified that the movies are not in the metadata. I've attached screenshots and log. I've tested this with multiple movies that aren't in the library and the result is the same. Log.txt

Hello, Can the Top Shelf on Apple TV Emby app be customized? Currently, Top Shelf shows Continue Watching, followed by Latest Media I would prefer to see the Latest Movies, sorted by Release Date in Descending Order

Hi All, The other day i noticed that my Emby server stopped playing movies through Kodi (TV Shows were playing fine). I assumed it was something to do with the plugin, so reinstalled it etc but had same issues. I then noticed that Emby wasn't importing new movies I add to my movie folder on my NAS (Emby watches this folder for new content). To try and get around this I deleted the movies folder from my emby library (kept the files on the NAS) and went to reconnect it back into Emby but now it won't let me select it. I've attached some screen shots and my log to give you an idea of what's happening, but as you can see I can't add the movies folder, this happens whether I go through the mounted drive (in my case drive V) or through the network path (\\NAS\etc...). I've had no issues adding TV content to my library (the TV folder and this sits in the same parent folder (Video) as movies) i.e. \\NAS \video \movies (cannot set this up) \tvshows (this works fine) Not sure what's going on so any help is appreciated! Thanks, Tim Log.txt

I have a guest account which I want to block some TV shows with tags ("Parental Control/Block contents with tags"), when I do so, the user can't see the show on "TV Shows/Shows" tab, but the same user can see episodes from the restricted ones on "Home/Latest Media", "TV Shows/Latest Episodes" and "TV Shows/Upcoming" and if he clicks on one of those episodes, he can see all seasons and episodes. It happens on "app.emby.media", "tv.emby.media" and iOS. On my Android TV it seems normal... I have the server's last version (3.0.5882.0), but it was the same before this one... Actually, I think this started on the database refactor version. I don't have the same issue with movies...

Best way to setup adult content and combine multiparts and single vids
dimmiemedia posted a topic in Web App
Hi peepz, i have some struggles to organize my adult content... The Collections are not very usefull for this part. I share this with a couple of roommates, and i like to combine some movies with more episodes, with single movies (DVD's or single vids for example) The struggle with Collections is that every user is able to edit add and delete stuff to the Collections.. And if i use the mixed content option in the libary, than it's impossible to search on Studio or genre... (because the tab bar is missing then) Is there somebodey who can give me some usefull tips for this ? Thanks! D -
Hi there. Is there a way to display and sort the data at the movie genres like the way it is in a boxset structure ? Or maybe an other option to display more then ten results? Also When you click on "more" and have your "second view at view the "secondaryitems.html" page the layout is only for landscape and not sortable and changeable in other viewtypes.... Does anybody know how i can change that? And is there a way to set the viewmode in landscape for default ? I hope anyone can give me some more info Thanks Greetzz

The reason for this request is because i have many users that connect to my mediabrowser from outside. When you create a new account for a user you can set there library access before they access the request. Now what i have noticed is that this is a hit and miss. I invited a guess, gave them only TV and movie access but once the account was created, they had access to all the content of the library. I only figured this out because the user let me know. Now maybe this is a bug or maybe i did something wrong but now i need to go through each user to make sure they dont have access to content they shouldnt. There is also the fact that when you add a new library item (like i added photo to my MB) every user gets access to it and then you have to go and remove it for each user. I have almost 15 account and having to modify each one, one by one is time consuming. So i propose that under Library there is a new tab that shows who access to what and allow you to modify access by means of checkbox next to there name. This would give a quick and clear view of who access which resource. This could also apply to the Channels, LiveTv ...Basically every section in the user property. It could even be a redesign of the user section For example: Tv Shows: User 1 X User 2 X User 3 ... Music: User 1 X User 2 User 3 X
