Hi developers, I am not sure if it is good place to open a topic. I found emby last weekend. It is really a good dlna server on rpi server. Everything works well except pdf viewer feature. So I have developed a solution for it. I wrote a python script, I have added it below post. What I do is I put pdf files into a directory(I will call it main). Then I run python script. It takes all pdfs, creates directories with name of each pdfs. In each pdf named directory, script creates pages with current order with jpeg format. On server side, I selected video/photo folder to main directory. I changed default view of directory to folder view. What I suggest/request from you is create a script to make similar action whenever clicked to update library if there is an video/photo category. I really wanted to set up a library of a Textbook collection that I have on Emby, but the Ebook option of the library seems incomplete, since there is no such inbuilt PDF viewer on emby. I would really love it if I could read my books off of one website and i wouldn't need to download it/use different services to stream the PDF instead of using my server for my studies. I have a library of my study lectures and if i am able to stream the PDF's/lecture notes/textbooks from my emby server itself then it would be really convenient. also, it can pair up perfectly with audiobooks, so one can read and listen at the same time without opening any other application, which is another hassle. i request the devs to atleast take a look at my request, it'll be really appreciated.

Hi All, I've created a thumb creater for CBR,CBZ and PDF files. Launch the program and click start then browse to the folder with your CBR,CBZ or PDFs and a new thumb for each file will be created from the cover. Such as filename-poster.jpg. When you refresh your library Ember will see these new thumbs. Its nice to have covers in Emby for Comics and PDFs! It makes magazines much nicer to browse! I take no responsibility at all if this damages your computer or deletes your files or any thing other bad! Please take a small few files and place them in a test folder first to try it out! Also the search is recursive so it will dig down to sub folders from the root! That being said let me know if anyone finds this useful or what bugs you come up against or any code suggestions! I wrote this for myself and figured I might as well share it in case anyone else finds it useful. Do what you want with the source code. It might be useful for the Emby Bookshelf plugin. Cheers! The books function associated with pdf's seems to be broken now. When I select a PDF book or magazine the app displays a black screen then after a few minutes it crashes. I'm not sure what has changed since the past few updates. I thought might be a problem was with calibre with recent updates but I removed the books plug in from media browser and removed the library also. then moved the books for a new folder with calibre and reinstalled the plug in and added the new library and the issue happens exactly the same way. the pdf display fine on the web browesr client but I cant download them from there so I'm assuming it must be the android app. Also Does the Books function work in the Ipad Client? Thank JIm
