  1. I'd like to better organize a large number of TV Shows into Season folders instead of just having all episodes dumped into their main show folder. So: /House M.D./Season 01/season-1-episodes While this SEEMS like a "WTF, just do it" situation, I did something similar with Jellyfin and it caused all kinds of time spent on cleaning up after. I'm hoping to avoid all of that. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. NOTE: I'm on the most current version of Emby and have Lifetime Premiere.
  2. Currently I have my categories broken down into reasonable settings, but it would be nice to be able to put libraries into folders, especially for content that doesn't match/fit Emby's expectations of particular content, such as wrestling. For example my current libraries would be: 4K Movies Kung Fu Wrestling It would be cool to be able to have: Movies -4K -Movies -Kung Fu Wrestling -Documentaries -Shows -PPV
  3. I listen to a lot of electronic/dance music, and there's a lot of cases where multiple musicians may collaborate on a song. Likewise I have purchased a number of compilation albums where a specific musician may only contribute one or two songs out of a dozen or more. I'd like to be able to view all the songs I have in my library that were made by/involved a specific artist. However, if I go to an artist page, I only get a list of albums that they were involved in, even though 90% of the songs in some of the albums have nothing to do with them. Would it be possible to add a view somewhere (such as on the artist info page) that will allow showing all the songs in a library made by that specific artist?
  4. I would like the ability to group multiple libraries together so they appear as a single library from the main screen, but allowing me to dive down into the different libraries. For example, I have 3 music libraries - mine, my wife's, and kids music for the kids. I don't want all 3 visible from the main screen, but I would like a single entry called 'Family Music' or 'Music' that allows me to drill down into the different libraries. It would be helpful for seasonal libraries, like my Christmas and Halloween libraries.
  5. This is not, by any means, an urgent issue. I am just looking to clean up my TV file system & am curious as to what the best method is to do this. By "clean up", I mean sort the shows via category or genre, while keeping them separate on my actual Emby server. My level of intelligence in this sort of thing isn't 100%, but I do have some knowledge in how to make all this stuff flow together & work. Any help would be appreciated. How to organize TV clips

I am trying to find the best way to organize a set of DVDs which contain "best of ..." clips from a TV show. it isn't really a movie since it's based on a TV show. When I attempt to load metadata for it, I can only find information within TheMovieDB but not TheTVDB. I'd like to have the random access to specific clips, but putting it in as a TV series just doesn't seem to fit since I don't have full episodes let alone full seasons. Also, I don't have the originating TV show to put these along side; just the clips. The sticky post about library organization doesn't seem to apply to this particular case.
  7. I want to have a separate location/folder for all my subtitles for my movies and TV shows. Whats the best way to go about that?

    TV show identify/metadata trouble

I have trying to add a folder (set as media type TV) containing a TV series to Emby library, but am having some trouble getting it to identify the series and its episodes and pulling the meta data. I have done a few other series and the "Identify" feature worked fine, however, that option is not showing up when i add this folder. The episodes will only show under the " Latest" tab and does not populate any of the shows info or structure like it has with other series. When i go in to metadata manager and select the folder level, the External IDs section has no options to add anything. Each ep file does heve those fields open, and i paste the IMDB and/or TVdb ids int ot them, but nothing else changes? Am i doing something wrong? IMDB id: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3793630/ TVdb: http://thetvdb.com/?tab=series&id=282756&lid=7
  9. Hi everyone, I'm getting ready to set up my first media server. I've been doing a lot of reading and appreciate all the info available on these forums. I have a massive collection of home videos and photos which I'd like to organize and make it easy to go back and watch them with my family, and this seems like a great option. I have a vision of what I'd like this to be and I'd be grateful for some feedback about the best way to implement this. I've played around with Emby a bit but I definitely don't feel like I have a good grasp on it just yet. Ideally, I'd love to be able to search for photos and videos based on - Who is in it - Where it was taken - Any special event surrounding the photo or video (vacation, birthday, holiday, etc.) As of now, my files are organized as follows but have not been renamed at all: \Year \Month \Photos \Videos I am wondering what the best way is to rename and edit the metadata of all of these files in a way that embeds this info into the original files themselves and makes it accessible to Emby. - Can this be easily done in Emby? (For example, selecting 400 photos in April 2005 and tagging them with "Disneyland" and then saving that as a tag onto the original file as well as in Emby?) - Can this be done using some kind of metadata editor to edit the titles, tags, and metadata of the files themselves which can then be imported and read by Emby? (In other words, can Emby read and process tags that are part of files themselves and use them to search and filter?) Again, I have a pretty limited understanding of what's possible and how to do it, so I appreciate your experienced insights. I also realize I'm going against the norm with a home videos approach rather than a movies/TV shows approach which seems really easy to organize. I look forward to learning. Thanks!

    Segregate Movies

Why? My brother was a bit messy with his encodes, such as mixing Bluray with DVD, along with encodes done in ether H264 or Xvid. This moves things around, so its easier to figure out if something should be ripped again in H264 rather than leaving it in Xvid...or replace DVD rips with Blurays that are now available. Notes: The Folders this script is to run against must be on ether a local or network mapped drive, as the script isn't setup to handle UNC paths. Requirements: AutoIt FFMpeg Instructions: Install AutoIt and set it to execute scripts when double clicked. Create a folder somewhere...lets call it "Segregate Movies" just to be unimaginative. Now inside "Segregate Movies" create a sub folder called "Bin". Now extract the contents of FFMpeg's "Bin" folder into your new "Bin" sub folder. Now going back into "Segregate Movies" folder Right Click on it's background and select "New\AutoIt v3 Script" from the context menu, and Rename it "Segregate Movies.au3" Now Right Click "Segregate Movies.au3" & select "Edit Script" from the context menu. Now paste the following code into: Now you'll have to edit a User Var namely the path to FFMpeg...normally I'd have this set automatically to the Bin folder holding the script...but I'm getting a lot of scripts depending on FFMpeg...so I'm allowing you to set the path...so you really only have 1 copy on your system...or at least 1 less do to this script allowing you to set it to a different location. Now save the script & execute it by double clicking it. You will be asked for the "Source Folder"...this should be your main "Movies" folder...ie it should hold a collection of movies each in sub folders. Next you will be asked for the "Final Folder"...this should ideally be on the same hard drive as the "Source Folder", to make things much quicker. Once done you'll be able to look into your "Final Folder" and see sub folders labeled by resolution & codec...example _1080p_H264

    Movie Renaming

Good Afternoon, I know that TV renaming and organizing is a feature that works pretty well. However I was wondering if there was any plans to implement a renaming method for Movies? After spending hours cleaning up metadata for my various movies I wanted to do a bulk name change so that all my movie files include the IMDB tt####### codes, this way if I sent a file to a friend and they incorporated it into their mediabrowser server the meta data would always get picked up properly or if my OS/Mediabrowser drive became corrupted it would make restoring the library easier. (Not to mention its nice having everything the same). Thanks.

    Support for Nested Music Folders

Perhaps I'm really picky about the way that I organize my media, and if that's the case, then feel free to call me out on it. I like to keep multi-disc albums organized into their own sub-folders though: ArtistAlbumDisc 1 Disc 2 It would seem as though MediaBrowser doesn't support this type of organization. Would love to see this kind of support added.

    Suggestion for organizing

I have been using the Roku app for a short time now. I do love it over having a full HTPC in my bedroom, but the only thing that is a little annoying is that I have to scroll for days to get to TV shows or the movie I want (we have a huge library, as I am sure many users do). I see that there are plans for a search mechanism, but would think an ability to organize them by first letter might be easier. I'm not sure how I could search considering the device has no keyboard, and navigating a software keyboard with the Roku remote could be a pain. I am sure your folks are already on this, but didn't see a specific forum post on it. You've all done amazing work on the various apps and capabilities. Keep up the great work!
