Good afternoon, I downloaded the Media Browser server last night and i have to say it is a lot better then the Plex server i have previously been using. It actually finds my files and downloads the proper artwork for them, and not some random program. What i was wondering was, is there a program you can either side-load on to your LG Tv or download, instead of using the normal network connection, and not being able to see the thumbnails? Plex was ok at showing thumbnails (albeit the complete wrong ones), but has since stopped showing any whatsoever! Thank you for your help in advance Carl

Any Recommendations for Emby Plugins to Enhance Media Experience?
tysonzach posted a topic in Non-Emby General Discussion
Hello there, As I've been using Emby for a while now, and I'm thoroughly enjoying its features for managing and streaming my media collection. However, I'm eager to explore further and enhance my experience with some plugins. I've heard there's a wide range available, but I'm not sure where to start. Could anyone recommend some must-have plugins that could take my Emby experience to the next level? I'm particularly interested in plugins that offer additional functionalities such as improved metadata management, subtitle support, or maybe even some fun extras like themed skins or advanced playback options. https://www.reddit.com/r/emby/comments/178hktb/how_to_plugins_work_with_emby_which_ones_do_you/info Additionally, if you have any personal favorites or hidden gems that you think deserve more recognition, I'd love to hear about them. Any tips on how to best utilize these plugins would be greatly appreciated as well. Thankyou in advance. -
Does Emby write to media files in anyway on library updates/changes ?
user5431 posted a topic in General/Windows
I have my media library on my desktop and on a Debian Linux server it is currently around 16.7 TB I periodically sync from the desktop to the server with rsync -avut -o -g --chown emby:emby --no-perms --progress --no-compress -e "SSH STUFF & FILE PATHS & OTHER OPTIONS". I have been doing this for years as a backup solution i.e if one fails the other is still there and knock on wood, haven't lost anything YET. I recently installed Emby on said server few weeks ago and today went to sync my media files ,I am NOW in the middle of a 14TB restore to the server . It is partially/mostly my fault because I have --delete-before as part of my rsync options ( I think that is what happened to so much of the data , massive delete from rsync ) My question: I notice Emby does a lot of ffmpeg and ffprobe stuff when the media library changes , is all that stuff Emby is doing passive reads or are the files physically being written to in some manner i.e writing metadata or moving atoms etc. that would trigger an update from rsync ? Changing the access/creation time or file size would do it no matter how little it actually changes . Music for sure was totally wiped out and most of the video library as well . There is nothing else on the server that would touch those files. Probably needless to say I changed the delete before option in rsync so I do not get a repeat (had it in there because disk space was low) but I do need to know if Emby is physically writing to my files instead of just passively reading them for the library updates/scans. If it matter all files are music.mp3 and video.mp4 One other reason I ask is MS media center/player did that, it would basically scan your system and re-write everything with the meta data it wanted right or wrong .mp3 was the worst . I hate to look back and remember how many times I had to redo my music collection until I figured that out. There are other media apps out there that do the same thing and usually without telling you they are messing with your files . Hopefully Emby is not one of them ! -
Hello. I'm in app.emby.media website and I want to know where I can find a host to connect to the server.

Is there a way to disable watched media from being purged!? I just noticed that I no longer have media in TV Shows I watched awhile ago no longer showing up in my list of TV Shows when trying to find them in emby. I also looked into my external HDDs and they're no longer there either, is there a way to disable this from happening to other media I've watched in the future!?

I have installed and run the setup for the OS5 version of emby and updated the operating system on MyCloud EX4100. The operating system doesn't have an easy setup for making emby work correctly. I have reset it several times and changed the SSH and DLNA settings trying to access the port emby opens "8096", nothing works. When I try to configure the app in the MyCloud device Mycloud opens a new browser window using the "8096" port, and the page opens saying the server returned an invalid response. and never responds correctly. Please Help, my entire video library has been transferred to the MyCloud. I need to get some sort of access besides direct connection.

Usually emby takes a couple of minutes to import them but idk why I has been taking so long now to import them now. It's been like 2 hours now. How can I fix this?

Hier een stukje van mijn Stack: version: "2.1" services: emby: image: ghcr.io/linuxserver/emby container_name: emby environment: - PUID=998 - PGID=100 - TZ=Europe/Amsterdam - UMASK_SET=<022> #optional volumes: - /srv/dev-disk-by-label-walnasdata/config/Emby:/config - /srv/dev-disk-by-label-walnasdata/media/films-jamesbond - /srv/dev-disk-by-label-walnasdata/media/films-jeugd - /srv/dev-disk-by-label-walnasdata/media/films-natuur - /srv/dev-disk-by-label-walnasdata/media/geen3d - /srv/dev-disk-by-label-walnasdata/media/music - /srv/dev-disk-by-label-walnasdata/media/muziek Zo totaal 33 mappen.

Hey all, Having trouble access media on newly installed Emby server on Debian linux. Emby was able to detect the media folder and everything in it but when I try and play a file it gives me this "No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details" I changed the permissions on the folder to 777 to troubleshoot and it is still giving the same error. In the logs it looks like it is say permission denied when I try and access a file and I am now at a lost of what it could be. LogError.txt

Roku Ultra (2018). When i plug in headphones into the jack on the Roku remote, there is no audio from Emby for any of the media played, Live TV, Recordings, or local files. There is the button sound effects and other Rokus system audio, and other apps all play sound fine. If i unlplug headphone, the sound does come back to the tv. Looked in the apps settings, and Audio +subtitle settings just says "see the user menu in web app" and Convert Muti-channel AAC...has no effect. The TV and media recordings are AC3 audio...if that helps. All my tv channels are that way, Edit: Also noticed, that if I change the Rokus system Audio settings to Stereo, (or anything other than Auto) the Emby app does not load any media, live tv or local. It just hangs on the loading bar of Retrieving. It lock a tuner, and the dashboard says it is playing, but it is not. Have to restart server to unlock it.

unable play "shuffle playback" or "play all" after finishing Series
speaksthegeek posted a topic in Android TV / Fire TV
I have a small 7 min long TV show that my daughter watches. we have finished the series and we've come to watch them again on shuffle and we get thte following error on Roku and Amazon Fire box "unable to determine items to play" I've tried marking the "show" as watched andt then unwatched again the only fix so far is to delete the user and recreate them. not sure what logs to attach . any hints on how to fix this would be awesome regards -
Not sure if it was a result of server release 4.1.1.0 or TVDB release 1.07 but my library scans have been hanging at 92.3% going on at least 6 hours now and the server has slow responses while this is happening. My emby server hung up 2 days ago and I had to do a full restart of the VM, not sure if it was because of the library scan or not. There are no issues with the storage locations in which my media is hosted. I searched the forums and didn't see anyone else reporting such issue.

Hi there, the Folder Sync Plugin can be used for Backup Purposes... But, then please insert a "Move" Option so that i get my Files Moved to the Backup Location (just the original Files, without Transcoding etc.) Really nice would be an Option in Emby to Backup Media (MOVE) to a Folder if defined Users have watched it. That would really help to keep the Libraries organized and not too big.... Thanks for Reading best Regards Brudertac

Using TinyMediaManager to Automatically Build Collection.xml
decrapinated posted a topic in General/Windows
Hi everyone. I use TinyMediaManager to do all of my metadata. I happen to move my files around a lot based on my own organizational madness, lol. This would KILL Emby's collections method. I switched over from Plex a few days ago and this was maddening because I was used to using tags. So I wrote an export template for TinyMediaManager that exports a list of movies in xml form. I wrote my template to conform to Emby's collection.xml scheme and placed the xml in a "CollectionName [boxset]" folder in the Collections folder. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it worked. So, I can rearrange my files at will, use whatever folder and naming scheme that I wish, replace files with better quality rips, re-tag or rename, or pretty much do whatever i want. I just thought that I'd share my methods for people in the same situation. I have several MoviesFolders though, including a folder containing all the movies that I haven't watched yet. There's also a folder of movies that I consider temporary residents on my hard drive. TinyMediaManager keeps it's export templates in a folder named "templates" in the main program folder. In this folder, I had to create a folder named "EmbyCollectionXML". In that folder, I need 2 files. I need a "template.conf" file and a "list.jmte" file. TinyMediaManagerFolder\templates\EmbyCollectionXML\ In the conf file I needed the following: name =EXCEL list type=movie list=list.jmte extension=xml description=This template exports a valid Emby collections.xml file In the list.jmte I needed the following: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Item> <LockData> true </LockData> <LocalTitle>Collection Title</LocalTitle> <DisplayOrder>PremiereDate</DisplayOrder> <CollectionItems> ${foreach movies movie} <CollectionItem> ${foreach movie.mediaFiles mediaFile} ${if first_mediaFile}<Path>${mediaFile.path}\\${mediaFile.filename}</Path>${end} ${end} </CollectionItem> ${end} </CollectionItems> </Item> This template exports an xml that writes the path for every one of your movies inside a CollectionItem. In TinyMediaManager, I simply filter the list by tags or by "datasource" or by whatever I want, then I export the list using my template. Open that xml and change "Collection Title" to whatever the name of my Collection will be. Rename the xml to "Collection Title.xml" Create a folder inside your Emby Collections folder: \Emby-Server\programdata\data\collections\Collection Title [boxset]\ Place your xml in that folder. I put a folder.jpg in there too for my collection. I refreshed my Collections in Emby and BOOM: There it was. I don't know if this will be helpful for anyone else, but that's how I do it for my custom collections that plugins might not pick up and to deal with me moving stuff around occasionally. It's best for big collections or random custom collections. Oh, and the reason I can't just filter by tags on the movies screen is because I'm using the Tizen version of Emby client on a Samsung Smart TV. That means if I filter and there aren't enough movies, I can't get back to that "Filters" button. It's been discussed in another thread.- 1 reply

Hello.. I was wondering if there's a quick, easy way to mark all movie items in a library was watched? TV Shows can easily be done because you can mark a season as watched. Thank you..

There used to be a tab in Libraries to setup path substitution, but now it's nowhere to be seen. Where did it go to? I can't find it anywhere and can't use external players without it. Previous: Now:

Hi I'm having an issue with the system being slow to start playing the media. It doesn't matter what media I'm playing and according to the dashboard its direct playing. Emby theater is running on the server/same machine, but external machine have the same behaviour. I'm seeing this error in the log each time I start the playback( see below). It will play the media, but it typically takes 10-25 seconds to load. It doesn't matter if its the internal player or external player. Live tv is also slow to start compared to previous, but I don't know if the error also appear in the log or it just coincident. I have tried to access the media directly on the machine from the file exporer and it starts quick, below 2 seconds. So access should be there and the hdd should also have been spinned up. It looks like some kind of access error but it plays fine and I can access it in file explorer with the same user as the one starting the emby server. Any ideas what to try? Currently I’m trying to get a media server set up to play corporate messages and videos around the plant. I’ve managed to set up Emby a powerful Intel Xeon PC, and I’ve been able to cast a video file to one of our Panasonic smart tvs. However, this is not exactly the ideal situation. Ideally I want to be able to play a single folder, with multiple video files inside, and play it on a constant loop to the 8 TVs around the plant. Is this possible in Emby? Currently I’m only able to cast one file at a time, to one TV at a time...

Personal fixes been tracking past few years and re-hitting now with setting up new FreeNAS 11. with Emby PlugIn 3.2.60.0 and thought I share each in posts. Hope they help community Iss.03 - FreeNAS Emby plugin - How to setup Media FreeNAS plugin Emby 3.2.60.0 plugin cannot see the dataset volumes created in FreeNAS. Sol.03a - ConfirmedYou need to setup storage locations under the emby_1 Jail as follows: Jails->emby_1->Storage->Add Storage Source=/mnt/vol1/Emby_Share/Films (e.g. Films path to dataset source accessed by a share) Destination=/media/embyFilms (e.g. Films path under emby jail media folder) Create Directory=Ticked (Create the folder if not exist ) Now configure Emby through it web config page to add the media library for use as follows:: Library->Add Media Library (Prompts for required fields) Content Type=Movies (e.g. Movies media type added) Display Name=Movies (e.g. Movies menu name to show in Emby) Folders <click + Add> (Prompts for media locations) Media Locations <click + > (e.g. Movies menu name to show in Emby) <click -> on right of / > (Expand root folder path on FreeNAS) <scroll down and choose> /media/embyFilms (e.g. Select /media/embyFilms) Prefered meta language <Choose english> (pick desired language for film info) Country <Choose United Kingdom> (pick desired Country)

I'm wondering if this would make a decent server/desktop combo? It would be for emby & live tv and basic desktop use until I can build a new one. I thought about building a combo with the new amd ryzen chip but am not sure if its worth the extra money and how well will emby run on it compared to intel. I/m using my (4) 2tb hard drives and (2) 500 gig hard drives until I can purchase new drives. Trying to keep cost low and keep build efficient, I.m getting everything from newegg. Thanks for your input. Currently the main screen and so on. Actual home, http://i.imgur.com/gLfMZlE.png I think that way it would get better. http://i.imgur.com/ahclsUi.png It would be interesting to *Home* like this, because it is easier to navigate on the main screen. I believe that with this little modification Emby would be much better. That's the idea for the developers. If possible, remove media information from the itemdetails.html. Thank you very much.

Hi, I would like to know if there is a way to apply treatments to cover art by the media source. Currently, my library is configured as below:- \\SERVER\Movies \\SERVER\Movies\Blu-Ray \\SERVER\Movies\Downloaded \\SERVER\Movies\DVD \\SERVER\TV \\SERVER\TV\Blu-Ray \\SERVER\TV\Downloaded \\SERVER\TV\DVD \\SERVER\TV\HDTV \\SERVER\TV\SDTV CoverArt is configured with individual profiles for media source \\SERVER\TV\Blu-Ray with a specific treatment of... BD items will use the BD cover My files are named:- Name.SXXEXX.V:CO-A:CO.Q:A-V:SO.ext I was wondering if it is possible to apply the cover treatment by the V:SO (Video Source) in the filename?
