Server - Kill current transcode/streaming sessions from the server
Florux posted a topic in Feature Requests
Hi, On the Server you can currently see active devices on the dashboard, and consequently which users are watching what on what media. However, there's no way to abort these active devices to either conserve bandwidth, conserve server CPU, or simply to stop a renegade process. One use case that would be particularly helpful is when you're casting from the phone app to ChromeCast. If the phone gets interrupted, you lose control over the stream so that the TV stops showing whatever you were watching, and there's no way to stop it or regain control over it. Instead of having to stop and start the entire server, it would be nice to just click on that particular activity on the dashboard and press KILL (or perhaps a less dramatic word - cancel?) Food for thought? -Florux- 28 replies

Hi, Very happy with Media Browser's ability to store metadata in a separate folder. However, even though a specific area is defined where all information and images are stored, the subtitles collected by Media Browser are currently downloaded into the actual media folder. For security reasons, many users prefer to mount their data storage read-only from the server. That way, the data is not quite as much as risk in case there is a catastrophic bug (unlikely) or security breach on the media server. Thus it's a great feature for MBS to store the metadata in a local folder on the local server, and then get the video files from a read-only storage system. Currently I believe subtitles is the only core component that desires write access to the video directory directly. Would it be possible to add an option to specify either a separate area for subtitles, or to store subtitles together with metadata? As an example, in my current setup, subtitles are auto-downloaded into a separate folder, and then there's a script running on the storage system that searches for and copies all SRTs from this area every few hours. However, the SRT grabber I currently use is rubbish compared to the quality of Media Browser's, so it would be terrific if Media Browser's own subtitle grabber could be used to grab to a custom area. -Florux

Hi, The only way I have found to restart the Server on OSX is to log in on the server and Quit it from the OSX/Mac top menu. It would be really handy if there could be a restart button next to the shutdown button on the Server tab of the Dashboard, right next to the Shutdown button. As an added bonus, once implemented, the Restart function could be linked from the post-Plugin-installation text reminding the operator to restart the server. Would make for even smoother operations. -Florux

Any plans to fix the restart button and also are there any conversation regarding automatic update from branches rather than user waiting on the new package to be published by @Q00lBox? thanks,

Hey guys, What happened to API section that used to be in the server? I know it's no longer there, but why was it removed? I am asking because Sonarr and CP are having issues talking to the server. They both say the notification test is successfully but my library doesn't get updated. Times to times I will see sonarr notifications but never any from CP. Last but not least, can you guys please add components being removed from the server in the release announcements. Thanks,

Guys, Can we get back real time monitoring. I know this sounds a little stupid but also the option to delay it will be nice. Example: I have both plex and emby running in my low powered nas and since Plex has real time monitoring running I would like to delay the scanning of Emby for x amount of sec(s) or minute(s) to prevent my cpu from hitting 100%. I would like to ask Plex to do the same but I don't want to wait until I am 60 to see it Thank you

Hello dev team, I am not sure if this issue is related to just the qnap version of the server but this is the 6th time I had to rebuilt my server and each time Emby got the following items wrong and I had/have to manually identify them. Left is the correct -> Right is the wrong match Battle Galactica -> Nova -> Terra Nova Revolution -> Food Revolution Vice -> Miami Vice Power -> Power Rangers Secret & Lies (US) -> No match Low Winter Sun (US) -> No match The Maze Runner -> Black or White -> It Doesn't Matter If Your Black or White Lion King -> Leo the Lion How to Train Your Dragon -> How to Train Your Dragon Legends

Hello, I would like to have the ability to run "Refresh Metadata" as a schedule task. Sometimes there are missing information for an item and it remains missing until I go to Metadata Manager and refresh the metadata manually. I know running this task on all libraries would be resource intensive hence I think these options would work best. Refresh Medatada Metadaa refresh mode: Add missing data only Image refresh mode: Download missing images

Hello guys, I was about to configure sonarr and cp but can't find the api page. was it removed? thanks,

Hey guys, After the latest update, the library icons for some of my users have been changed to the older icons. I must also add that t didn't change for all users. It used to have the dynamically generated icon. I didn't manually changed anything. Here's a screenshot

I know i have seen something about this before but i cant find. Is there a way to hide/remove the folders-tab? Feels pretty dumb to have a tab showing the same things as movies, tv and collection already does. I like to keep things clean and the folder-tab kind of bugs me Edit..... Found it

I have recently turned on the automatic downloading of Subtitle Metadata and to be honest - it's killing me! Personally, I can't handle English sub titles in an English movie, but for some reason, MBS seems to be encouraging this for me. I have set my options to only download subtitles if the audio tracks don't match the language and also skip if the movie already contains graphical subtitles. When I watch the MKV on my computer, it only plays the embedded subtitles for a different language, however, as soon as I watch the same movie file on MediaBrowswer Classic, it kicks in English subtitles. Looking at MBS, I can see that it's downloaded an SRT file for each movie, completely in English and I get every word throughout the movie in English. I am having to rename the SRT file and start the movie again so that it won't add the subtitles. Is there something I'm doing wrong? It's a great concept to automatically add in subtitles, but I just can't seem to get it working correctly for me. Thanks in advance. Rips

Hey guys, It's been a while. I was readying through the competitor forum recently and I noticed there were a post in which people where seeking users to share libraries with. Then this idea came to mind. What if you gents were to implement user groups. A group is create and assign an Emby account ( automatically). Each member who joins the group become a part of a bigger network. Here's the use case: 1. User A creates a group 2. User A can selects an option to either allow interested user to send a request for approval or auto enroll. 3. User A assigns which library he/she wants to share with join users 4. User B joins the group 5. User B upon approval is prompt to assign which library he/she wants to share with the group (No none option - got to contribute lol) 6. When user A and B login to emby.media with their emby connect account they would now be presented with two servers. Their personal and the shared library with the group name. 7. Emby would automatically scan both user library for media type. Media types can be: Movies, TV shows, Photos, Music etc.. 8. Emby would automatically set any matched media content as one media with multiple quality. For example: If both users have "Batman begins", emby would present one artwork for batman begins but when selected for playback it would prompt the user to select with one to play. The one from user A or user B and also the quality. 5. User C decides to join to the group. The same process is repeated This would be a great feature for users such as myself whom are interested in discovering new movies, tv shows, music, arts (photos), etc... I love foreign movies but I don't know too many people who are not from here (U.S.) so how would I ever find a nice British movie to watch on my spare time. With this feature I would. It would, with no doubt in my mind, make Emby much more powerful than any other services available (Hulu, Netflix, et...)

I noticed this weird bug last night. I don't know when it started. I looked through some of my older scanned contents and the problem appears there as well.

Hey dev, Can you guys please, please add a delay option to "real time monitoring". I would like to enable the feature but do it let's say 30 second from the time it detects it. I would like Plex, Kodi, and Emby to co-exist on the same box and sense all of them scanning and running ffmpg at the same time, the cpu just can't keep up. Specially with chapter "Extract chapter images during the library scan" is enabled. Thanks in advance.

Since the new update (3.0.5582.4) any images I have set as an admin for the libraries do not appear for standard users, instead they get the new standard images which I do not want. Is this expected behaviour ? I would prefer not to have to go in, give each user admin rights and then set images manually for every user.

I've just noticed over the past few days, if I add a new show to my collection the not all of the images are automatically added. Series images seem to be ok, but specifically season posters aren't downloaded. If I go and manually browse for them, or even do an advanced refresh on the series metadata everything is properly added. MBS Version 3.0.5518.7

I just recently noticed that if I go into the metadata manager and try and select a different backdrop (or fanart as it is now) I have a hard time getting it to not save the file into an extrafanart folder. Even if I use the metadata manager to delete the old backdrop, it still saves the file as fanart2, and in the extra folder. I mainly bring this up because I use the metadata manager to change the poster or banner, it just replaces it. That, and I prefer not having subfolders in my movie folder. If this is the expected behavior, I can manage it, just a bit if extra work (have to go into explorer and delete the empty folder). Just wondering. Thanks.

This has been discussed a little before quite some time ago. Difficult to search for so not sure on current status... I'd really like the option to login as multiple users at once. E.g. watching something with my wife. Both users are watching so both should get updated to watched (and synced with trakt etc). Should be easy to sign out a particular user e.g. one users signs out half way though a movie and the user finishes it - it's watched for one and resume (from when the logged out) for the other user.. Also when multiple users are logged in, when looking at things such as 'unwatched movies' it should display movies unwatched by both users. This really would be an AWESOME feature, probably at the top of my list. I'm sure it'd have an extremely wide appeal - how many MB users are watching TV alone...

I run my media on a readynas nv+, and due to the server software not currently being compatible for this server, I am running the server on my laptop. I currently have my cache in the default location, but was wondering if I would see any performance improvement by moving the cache to the readynas

Server: Why are Media Library sections grouped together?
Florux posted a topic in Non-Emby General Discussion
Hi, I have noticed that the various sections created under Library are grouped together, so that they all end up being either "TV" or "Movies", regardless of which Library section (and server directory) they happen to be located under as defined in the dashboard/settings. I assume I have missed something somewhere, as I have read elsewhere that this would be possible, but all the searches I have done came up empty on this. For instance, I have the following sections that I would very much like to have separate: TV Shows (content type: TV) Movies (content type: Movies) Documentaries (content type: TV) Childrens Movies (content type: Movies) Childrens TV (content type: TV) However, under Media Browser, they all show up as either TV or Movies. I know I *COULD* define this under collections, but that would be extremely cumbersome and not user friendly. For instance I would not ever want Childrens Movies and Movies to mix. Having to go through all existing movies and put them in a specific movies-section, and correspondingly adding all kids movies to its section, is not very useful and highly time consuming. It is also my impression that collections are more meant to group for instance all the James Bond movies, or all the Barbie movies for instance, in collections within their respective library sections. Is this optional as I hope / believe, and if so, could you kindly point me towards where it is? I've noticed this problem across all platforms I have tested (web, android, Kodi). Thanks in advance for reading and hopefully pointing me in the right direction. -Florux -
Hi, I've read a lot about SSL / https support in Media Browser, but cannot find the settings for it anywhere - there's also no mention of it in the wiki. Could someone please point me in the right direction? -Florux

Hi, There are differences in the Media Browser Server depending on it being addressed through app.mediabrowser.tv or locally on localhost:8096/web. OSX version: 10.9.5 Media Browser Server: 3.0.5518.7 (and previous version(s)) Web Browser: Google Chrome, Safari and Firefox. No difference. It is very easily reproduced as simply using the different addresses to access it gives the different behaviour. So far I have found three differences: The settings menu has icons when accessing locally, no icons via app.mediabrowser.tv The setting menu has sync option when accessed locally, not via cloud The setting menu->Plugins does not work for launching plugins when addressed from cloud, but works fine when addressed locally Here's a picture of items 1 & 2. Item 3 is addressed separately. Viewed from localhost: Viewed from app.mediaserver.tv: I have extracted logs but cannot find any difference anywhere that could be useful. And since it's so super easy to reproduce I have for now not added logs. Please advise if that is needed anyway, and if so what exactly I should do. -Florux
