Emby Theater jerky playback 4K video.

I have one 4K video in my entire library. And this naturally the only movie that has always played with 1960's stop motion animation smoothness. It doesn't matter if I am using a Firestick, Vero4k+, or computer (web browser or embytheater) - it's always jerky. I've tried several different versions of the file, ranging from 5 to 14 GB and it's always the same. The network utilization is never saturated. The only client that will play this video smoothly is my LG TV (that was a shocker). I have noticed that if I use the browser or theater in a maximized or fullscreen state, the jerky playback is at it's worse. If I have it restored or at any window size other than fullscreen, the playback is smoother. Technical data Emby Server Version 4.7.11.0 running on QNAP TS-451+ Clients LG-75NANO91ANA (TV) Firestick Firestick 4K Vero4K+ 3 coumputers with 8th generation i5's and minimum 4GB RAM, no dedicated video cards. The only thing I can think that could be the cause is the display on most clients are 1080. However, while troubleshooting this last night, I changed one computer to a outdated Sony Bravia's native resolution (4K) and the problem still persists. I have attached an excerpt from the embyserver log. I removed the subtitle search that it does over night and my wife's binge watching background noise. There were no ffmpeg-transcode log, so I didn't have one to attach. Any help appreciated. embyserver_2023-03-20.txt

ATV4k 2022 and HEVC or 4k in HEVC

Hi, if I play my vidz in native mode (in need the refresh rate) 80% of the H264 works but only maybe 10% of HEVC works. 4k don't work at all. If I try to play a HEVC or 4kHEVC I got first the black screen (which indicates the switch to the refresh rate or/and HDR) and then comes the normal movie display where I can start the movie again but all things that I do from now on (go back to movie selection or other things in the app) stutters and the movie doesn't start at all. I have to close emby app completely and that changes the refresh rate back to settings I have in ATV4k. Is this a known bug in emby app for TVos?!
  3. Hi emby team, say hello and welcome back to an old Error since the update of the emby server version from 4.6.x to 4.7.x an old an previously resolved error is back When playing a 4K HDR file that has a Dolby Atmos (TrueHD) audio track the new server version (from 4.7.0.1 to 4.7.0.4) is being transcoding not only the audio track but also the video track what costs a lot of CPU and more important picture quality. The old server version (4.6.7.0) works as designed. The video is playing direct and only the audio track is being transcoded! because I still have a backup of the old server version 4.6.7.0 I played the exactly same file once with 4.6.7.0 and once with 4.7.1.0. search the logs for "Und taeglich gruesst das Murmeltier.mkv" as I already described: 4.6.7.0 - no video transcoding (direct play) only the Dolby Atmos track is beiing trancoded to AC3 4.7.1.0 and above - video and audio is beiing transcoded the logfiles from both server versions are attached here PS: the problem of transcoding video that doesn't need to be transcoded already existed in earlier versions of emby server/LG App combinations but has been fixed sometime. now it's back PPS: if this topic belongs to emby server please move it... I can only reproduce the problem on my LG TVs but maybe it's a general server prob. embyserver-4.6.txt embyserver-4.7.txt
  4. Kind of a weird one, friend watching my NAS said videos were all stuttering since I updated to DSM7.0.1/Emby4.6.7. So I launched in Chrome and it seemed fine but it was transcoding h.265 to h.264, not ideal. So I loaded up Edge as I own the Microsoft HEVC extensions and it played but with horrendous stuttering. Emby server reported Chrome Emby Web 4.6.7.0 using DirectPlay. The file was a 9GB MKV using 2160p H.265 identified by Emby as 4K HEVC playing across the LAN (1Gbe) from a Synology DS918+ (x64 processor). Happy to perform any troubleshooting you may desire to understand the issue. 30+ years in IT and at least half that supporting Windows desktop envs. Remote access available for testing as needed.
  5. Hi there, I've set up my old PC as a standalone server running Emby, along with Windows AD, DHCP and DNS Services. Specs are an i5-7400, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, 120GB SATA boot drive, and a Storage Space with 2x4TB HDDs and a 500GB NVMe SSD for cache. I've mostly been using the server for streaming my music collection (which I'm still building on!) However, I've been trying streaming films/TV Shows from my server, and I've started to have a few problems. The issues I've been having mainly relate to my LG Smart TV (43UN8100), but also my Xbox One S. When I stream video on the Smart TV, it usually stutters and results in me not being able to comfortably watch the video. This seems to happen regardless of the resolution of the video/whether I'm direct-playing or transcoding. When I'm playing the videos on the Xbox, they start off playing fine, but then the Xbox will start dropping frames like a madman while still playing the audio. This has been tested using the Emby Theater apps and the native DLNA apps on both the Xbox and the LG TV. This perplexes me as the videos play fine on my Windows 11 PC, my Samsung Tab S7+, and also on my Note20 Ultra (I've even tested this over 5G and it plays fine). With regards to my network setup, the LG TV, Windows 11 PC and the Xbox are connected via Ethernet. My Note20 and Tab S7 are both on Wi-Fi or 5G. It seems like the issue could be device-related, but I'm unable to work out where the issue would lie. I've also taken a look at my Task Manager on the server while streaming, and the server doesn't seem to be overloaded or stressed at all. I've noticed that the network speed on the NIC fluctuates while streaming, but I'd assume this is normal? The videos themselves are encoded as H.264 with the highest bitrate being 44Mbps. Some of the videos are 1080p/30fps, others are 4K/24fps. I genuinely can't figure out what I'm doing wrong here, so I'm hoping someone can set me on the right path. Thank you! embyserver.txt
  6. So yesterday make me crazy, when the only think wanted is to play a movie (sized 32gb) in my new tv. Long story: My Samsung tv is playing movies for few weeks fine, all the movies what about 1080p, now I started download 4K content and wanted to start watching. The Samsung tv app was loading the movie and then playing it, the subtitle wasn't good since it's showed me a different language, and a lot of massy trouble. even when the tv connected with CAT6 cable to router. So I stopped and move to my next streaming device: Xiaomi mi box Xiaomi mi box played the subtitle well, but the app was freeze out and stuck, after a quick restart to app, trying again, but now the buffer is loading, in the time line the gray is expanding, but the movie wasn't start to play. LDAP build-in in Samsung tv was crashed, and now my last option, use my laptop with HDMI cable to my tv: My MacBook Pro connected to tv and trying to stream, but still it's freeze and stuck, so now I connect even Ethernet cable (Cat6) and now the movie is playing, but every 5 seconds stop to buffer. Here I just stopped and moved to my Netflix for another stupid content.. My questions is: Is there any way I can troubleshooting ? How can I check speed between Emby server and Emby clients ? What can affected that ? embyserver.txt
  7. I was on emby the other night watching a 4K HDR version of the avengers (2012) and it started stuttering and then buffering and sometimes even closed the whole video. I've never encountered this before. This was happening on direct play, I brought up stats for nerds and it said direct play and then after stuttering and buffering it went to direct stream and gave a reason of 'failed to do direct play' but then it also did the same in direct stream. Dont get this on other movies that have a lower bitrate. Can emby not handle high bitrate movies even in direct play? Or does anyone know the reasoning behind this happening. Any help is appreciated.

    4k HDR movie issues

I'm not sure if this belongs here but I'm having issues with some 4K HDR content in my library. I'm playing the movie and it will take a while to load and then just show a green screen and then eventually show the content but it the video will just be stuttering/freezing and going all pixely but the audio carries on fine, I've tried the same content on my Samsung tv app and my 4k amazon fire stick and both have the same issue, I have no idea why its doing it, i have restarted server and everything, it says its direct streaming, so there shouldn't be a loss of quality at all and I'm at a stand still and don't know what else to do. Any help would be appreciated
  9. it shows on playback info, that the display mode is 1080/60.00, even though i was playing a 4k content. had read numerous complaints about this topic in the forum but unable to find any solut ion. here are the logs. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-transcode-b5439eaf-aa95-4348-9300-ae4f652d8497_1.txt
  10. Hi there, I am experiencing a playback issue with Emby and I hope someone is able to help. I do not experience playback issues with this file in the web browser on a PC, but when playing via the Emby app on my LG WebOS Smart TV, the playback stutters every few seconds and is thus unwatchable. To see if the TV itself is decoding the file correctly, I copied it onto a hard disk, and the TV does indeed play it back perfectly when reading directly off a USB connected drive. The Emby server version is 4.1.1.0 Client is Emby Theater app on the WebOS Smart TV No wireless networks are involved, everything is wired in I attached the logfile for when I just tried to playback the file M:\Video\Films - 4K\Oblivion (2013)\Oblivion.2013.UltraHD.BluRay.2160p.HEVC.BT2020.DTS-HD MA 7.1-HDL.mkv. Hope someone is able to assist. Many thanks!
