  1. Hello, I have observed that all the content that I am seeing, that has been downloaded to the mobile, the progress of the viewing point or indicating that it has been viewed, only saves it in the local version (downloaded) and that information is not communicates it to the server. Therefore, if I am viewing a movie (downloaded to a device) and I leave it halfway, and then I want to continue watching that movie on the server, it does not save me at the point where I left it halfway. As if I have downloaded a series and have seen 3 chapters, for example, these in my library then appear without viewing. I think that once the device connects to the server, it should synchronize that information between the mobile device, tablet, etc. and the server.

Watched status not sync to Emby server

Hi Emby Team and Emby Community, I'm having a problem with the sync of the watched status from kodi to emby server. -------------------------------------------------------- My setup Kodi 18.9.0 based on Coreelec EmbyCon 1.9.106 on Kodi Emby 4.5.4.0 installed on Qnap x64 ------------------------------------------------------- After I turned to use Embycon instead of Emby on Kodi, I noticed the movied I already watched on Kodi was not marked watched in Emby side, the wathched status wasn't recorded either. However, any watch status in Emby side (e.g. web, iphone) will immediately sync to Kodi. It seems the sync only work in one direction : Emyb to Kodi.
  3. Thanks in advance for the help. When downloading music, the app offers to automatically download new content (sync) added to the folder you just downloaded. I foolishly chose to enable that option. Now, I'd like to disable that sync in an effort to more tightly manage the stuff that I download to my phone. Unfortunately, with that sync enabled it won't just let me remove the downloads. If I do, they just download again right away. In an effort to disable the sync, I went into Manage Downloads (both in the Android app and on the Windows server), clicked into one of the downloaded albums and deselected the "Automatically download new content" option, and then tried to remove the download. I even verified the deselection of that option on both my phone and on the server before removing the download, but of course that still didn't work. The album still just downloaded itself again right after removing it. I've since discovered that there seems to be at least 7 entries for every album, playlist, or whatever that I've downloaded. So I assume that when I disable the sync and removed the download for one of those entries, one of the other ones is causing it to sync again. That leads me to believe that I would need to click into every single entry (and there's a lot of them) in Manage Downloads to uncheck that stupid box before even trying to remove the downloads (again, 1 at a time). This already daunting task is made even more painful by the fact that whenever you click the save button after removing that option, the list gets reloaded and things move around. So keeping track of which entries you've disable and which ones you haven't becomes near impossible. I think I would also need to uninstall the app from my phone before doing any of this to make that it doesn't it doesn't check in with the server and sync again while I'm making my way through the list. Can anyone help me? There has got to be a better way to get rid of your downloaded music and start over. Where is this setting stored behind the scenes? Is there a file somewhere where I can more easily disable the sync option in bulk? Is there somewhere I can completely wipe everything out that's listed under Manage Downloads (just called Downloads on Emby Server)? The method I've described above is immensely infuriating, enough to make me question whether I really want to continue on using Emby as my media server. I am using the latest versions of both the Android app on Android 10 and Emby Server on Windows 10.
  4. Hi, I've set up the most recent version of Emby with the google drive plugin and premier enabled so I can sync to it. I can convert/sync one time without issue to google drive. However, anytime I try to convert for a different quality it fails. Is it only possible to convert for 1 quality? Here's a picture of my "Movies" library that has 1 file in it. Here's my downloads tab where you can see that 1 job worked fine, but the other failed: The mobile 4Mbps found the file and converted it fine: And you can see the file in my google drive in the expected place: As you can see there's only the 1 file (the Mobile 4Mbps). If you look at the download settings for the mobile 1.5Mbps, you can see it didn't do anything: I'm wondering if this is a file name issue? The mobile 4 Mbps file has a name of The.Life.Aquatic.with.Steve.Zissou.(2004).mp4 with no mention of the quality. I've also attached the server logs from when I deleted the mobile 1.5Mbps download job thing and then re-added it. Nothing jumps out to me when skimming it. embyserver.txt

    understanding sync

I'd like to understand the workings of sync before I fully commit to using Emby. Basically I'm looking for an alternative to Google Play for my music and the fact Emby can handle video is a plus. I've read as much content on sync as I can handle but haven't been able to form a coherent understanding of how sync works. At home that's not an issue since all my devices have access to my network server where Emby is installed. I'm concerned strictly with using Emby to stream content when I'm away from home. The wiki says my content is not moved to the cloud. That's great since I have close to 90 GB of audio. So, when I play tracks on my phone and I'm away from home does the Emby app handle it seamlessly or do I have to sync something? How will the content be served to my phone? Does Emby make a temporary copy of my audio files to the cloud prior to serving them to my phone? If so is there any lag? How long does it remain on the cloud? Are there any limits such as the amount that can be uploaded? Can hardware play a role? Like the platform of the Emby server, the router, web service, connection speed etc? Please be as technical and thorough as possible. Thanks!

Track sync in Playlist - Chrome app

When I use the Chrome app to play music via a playlist on the remote server, the music played has become out of sync with the track selected. In other words, if I select track n°10 in the playlist, it actually plays N°11 or 12. I didn't see anything in the database about that but appreciate that i might be using the wrong tags. Can anybody suggest a work around? Thanks, Steve

    google drive sync

I have a student account in google drive practically unlimited, I can use that shared drive for emby sync or I necessarily need to use the common drive that only has 15 gb? @@cayars
  8. Title basically says it, I'm trying to download a movie to my Ipad Pro 3rd gen. (iOS 13.5). If I play it online, it works, but as soon as I download it to my Ipad it doesnt have sound. This doesn't happen with the same movie on my Android Tablet when doing the same thing. Other movies have worked as intended on the Ipad. The movie in question is in German, but also has English audio bundled (both 6-channel DTS). The movie uses .mkv format. Any pointers to fix this? Unfortunately I don't have a huge database to test, but atm one movie works for download, the other doesn't. On the Android, or while playing online, both work. Greetings
  9. I am trying to backup files to a portable external drive preserving the original size (profile: original). The video files is correctly copied. However the srt file was not copied and a vtt file is created instead. My problem is that when I plug the drive in my TV, vtt files are not recognised. Could the sync as is copy also the original srt files?

Cloud sync gdrive. No "sync" option

Morning all I have just started with Emby after using Plex for several years. I am loving it so far however I am having an issue with Cloud Sync to G-Drive. I have installed the Cloud Sync plugin successfully but I have no option to Sync any where in any of the menus. Anyone come across this before or have any idea what the issue might be? I have been over the plugin settings and everything looks fine there. I cant see pointers in the logs. I am running Emby in Docker on Fedora 30 server. Docker version 1.13.1, build 47e2230/1.13.1 Emby Version 4.4.1.0 Thanks Scott
  11. Hello I can't download media from the server to a device like iphone or other devices. The file remains only ready to sent, Even the task provided for this purpose launched by force does not start the transfer. What i forget to do? Thank you...

    Sync broken

Hello, Emby sync is broken. I re created download, but It hangs at "ready for transfer" Destination device is a freshly wiped galaxy S9+, storage authorizations checked Log : https://zerobin.lagout.org/?01e41d22dd30b4b1#V22iF7K5PebtxskbR063Nc9QYCig/ewAFy9VZviz/wk=
  13. Hi all, I've posted a similar topic before. Then user ebr asked me to place my topic in the appropriate forum. Since I'm convinced this is a feature request I'll try to formulate my question more in that fashion. Introduction I've purchased Emby Premiere because I wanted to make use of the Download/Sync functionality. Sadly I don't use it, because of the way it's implemented. Feature Requests It would be really nice to have the Users "Download & Sync" settings and behavior to be aligned with the Users "Media Playback" settings and behavior. Explanation part 1 So what does this mean? It means that in the Emby settings (Server -> Users -> User) the following configuration is possible for "Media Playback": It would be really convenient to have the exact same options in the "Download & Sync" section of the same page, which now only contains the following: Why? I only wan't some really efficient/cheap transcoding on my server like subtitles, audio and media container (mkv/mp4). No video encoding/transcoding! Because it's too expensive + I'm really sure all my devices can decode H264 and all my movies are H264. Not sure why Emby something things it need to re-encode H264 to H264, but it does. Explanation part 2 The second part of this feature request is about the behavior. It would be really nice to have the exact (or at least the setting to enable this) behavior when you click "Play" (Streaming a movie/Media Playback) and when you Click Download (or Sync). This means that in both scenarios the mobile Emby app (iOS, Android, Browser, etc) will accept the options you filled in on the movie/serie page. For example, when I have this options enabled on my Android phone (notice Subtitles and Version): So I've selected a version called "Mobile" which is 720p H264 including AAC stereo audio and English .srt subtitles. I'm 100% sure all my (portable) devices can playback this. Clicking the Play button will: Play the "Mobile" 720p H264 version with the English .srt subtitles. As expected. On each (portable) device without any problem. Clicking the Download button will, depending on the device I'm on: Download the "Mobile" 720p H264 version with the English .srt subtitles. As expected; Download the "Mobile" 720p H264 version without English .srt subtitles. Download another version (sometimes even a 8GB one) with or without English .srt subtitles Takes the "Mobile" or a random other version and starts transcoding the video and/or the audio and afterwards downloads the transcoded version with or without English .srt subtitles. It wouldn't be a surprise that pressing the Download button is a surprise every time, but the nice thing is that it doesn't have to! Please let me know what you think of this idea. It doesn't have to replace the existing implementation, but in my opinion it would be a very nice addition to at least make the option available to treat "Downloads" the same as "Streams". Have a nice Holiday Season (Fijne kerstadagen in Dutch)!
  14. Is it possible to generate a Collection in Emby by pulling from Trakt, using either one or both of 'collected' or 'watched' status in Trakt? Alternatively, to allow marking 'collected' or 'watched' as Favorites. I can see how to do it manually: 1. Pull Sync from Trakt, 2. Filter Playstate Played, 3. Manually mark each series as Favorite or add to a Collection. But am not sure if there is an auto-generate method to do this. The logic is: When moving to a new server with new content it can be handy for each user to mark the TV shows they like. Kind regards
  15. Is some level of integration with Plex on the Road map? At least just to transfer the data the first time. I'm a paid Plex subscriber (and now also Emby), but they are slowly moving away from the original feature set - target audience. And I don't like the way their mobile sync works. So I am here. And expect many folks like me, old plex pass users, to come here. But, we need to over the hurdle of all that meta data within our libraries. Any hope in this direction? Thanks, nat
  16. Hey all, I know this has been talked about a couple times, but over and over I stumble on this change… Most recently I realized I won't be able to control my synced music playback through Android Auto. Unless/until Emby gains Auto integration / certification at least. I understand the reasons behind the change to use the Download Manager, there's no point in reinventing the wheel. But maybe there's a third option? I'm sure Emby gets notified of successful downloads, couldn't it then move the downloaded files to a location accessible to other apps? Basically treat the app-only data directory as temporary storage for in-progress downloads? That, or use the DownloadManager's API to download to a public location, enabling MediaScanner, too? Thanks for listening
  17. Hi there, with the actual official App and also with the Beta the Sync Feature is Broken. I can create a Sync Job (e.g. Series) but it never starts the Download. In earlier Versions this happens too, but there i was able to start the Download with "save the Sync Job again". In actual Version and Beta i also cannot Download a single Episode using the Download Button. Just nothing happens... Is this a known Problem? best regards Brudertac
  18. I was getting strange sync-related behavior post-upgrade. I figured the best way to fix it was to delete and re-create all my sync jobs but it looks like I can't create any sync jobs. I tried, through the folder plugin, removing then re-adding the sync directory but it made no difference. I get the following error each time: Is there a db file I can delete or reset to fix it? 2019-07-27 10:48:07.231 Info HttpServer: HTTP POST https://example.com:8920/emby/Sync/Jobs. 19. My Emby app (version 3.0.64) is consistently not pulling the video file from the Google Drive sync location, after the file has been sync'd to Google Drive via the Sync function (I've verified that the file exists on Google Drive and is playable through separate means). I'm running server version 4.2.0.40 stable but have seen this problem on earlier versions (v4.x.x.x) as well. On my Emby server (Ubuntu x64), I see the following happening when I view network traffic through the 'iftop' command. The Emby server shows an incoming stream of data from a Google domain (presumably the Google Drive server). I also see an out going stream of data from the Emby server to my phone's IP address. I can view the video -- with a lot of stops and starts -- as the stats screen says it's doing a 'direct' play; however the outgoing bandwidth from my home internet connection is only 1.5Mbps and not able to handle a direct play of the DVD program I was trying to view away from home. When I close the Emby Android app, the incoming stream of data from Google IP address disappears on the server. I would assume, if I understand the sync and playback functionality correctly, that I should see no traffic (incoming or outgoing) on the Emby server system since the Emby phone app should pull the video file directly from the Google Drive location. (I did specifically choose the Google Drive version of the video program I was watching in the Emby Android app.) FYI, I am the only user on the system. I've attached the log file -- most of what I'm describing occurred around 11:42 or 11:43. Let me know if you need any additional information. Thanks in advance for any help! embyserver.txt
  20. Hi, I'm having troubles with syncing to my Windows 10 laptop (using the UWP Windows Store App). My server has converted the media and its stuck on 'Ready to Transfer'. This has worked intermittently before and if I reboot the computer it appears to 'wake up' the sync process and transfer the files. I was previously using the desktop version (co-installed with the Store app), but after reading the forum I found that the desktop version is not supported for sync so removed it in case it was causing a conflict. I have also tried re-installing the store app and changing the Download Location in the Offline Settings but nothing appears to kick the transfer process into starting. I have also tried initiating the Sync of Movies & TV Shows from both the device and the Server, neither works. If its helpful, within the UWP app when selecting a piece of content that I've asked to sync, the command bar (play, played, more, etc) shows the status as 'Downloading' (not 'Download') so the app knows its on the way but it never arrives. When I then play the content, I can see on the Stats for Nerds and on the Server Dashboard that it is transcode streaming the content. Additionally, the sync doesn't work from within my wifi or externally over the internet (I use a dynamic dns). My iOS & Android devices sync items properly, this issue only seems to be with Windows Store app. Is there any way to force the download to occur? If I can provide any other info to help deconstruct what's going on, happy to. Thanks in Advance, Dewey Server Version: 4.1.1.0 (Win10 Server) UWP App Version: 1.1.256.0 (Win10 MS Surface) Log.txt

Sync 2 emby servers across VPN

We are moving soon and will have gigabit internet. I have an emby server and so does my buddy. We have a vpn connection between our houses so our connections appear "local". I'd like to find a way to sync or media libraries so we can be "fail-overs" for each other to our friends and family. I know there isn't an official supported method to do this, but I wanted to ask the minds in this forum for suggestions. We both run emby server on Ubuntu server 18.04 with similar storage capacities.
  22. Hi there. Moving over from Plex I have set up Emby server on my shield (latest 16GB model) and it is all working well. I have all my media on a large external usb drive and have set all the temp folders (cache, transcode, metadata, sync etc) to said drive. When syncing files, larger mkv files especially seem to start converting at a good rate (about 4x ish) and then after around 20% (slightly varies per file) the conversion stage just hangs. The Device/sync settings page simply displays the percentage it is stuck on as does the same part of the iOS app. The ffmpeg log seems to cut off mid line and not be updated any further when this happens. Logs attached. Any help much appreciated. I have tried varying combinations of speed throttling, cpu cores etc to no avail. I have even opened the file in the sync folder on the server and it seems to play up until the point the conversion failed. Plenty of space on the drive and the file plays fine when simply watching via the iOS app or tv emby client (lg). Thanks, Richard. ffmpeg.txt HardwareDetection.txt embyserver.txt

  24. It would be nice if the selected movie "version" will be respected when clicking the download or sync button. I have two versions for every movie, one for the (big) tv's and one for mobile devices. Now my Android device downloads the biggest file no matter which one I've selected.
