  1. Subtitles work for a few minutes then disappear.... I’ve tried different settings but nothing works! Started happening when latest server (early August) was released! Using chrome on same pc as server.. embyserver-63701561330.txt hardware_detection-63701561339.txt
  2. Hi @@Luke, I have a problem with subtitles which can't be show anymore after to pause the episode, leave the tab (2 hours after) and try to open it again just after in chrome. I already try with and without encode subtitles on the fly. I uncheck for the moment this option and it's always bug so it's not the problem. I tried to turn off subtitle. Leave and open again the emby tab, start an episode, select my subtitles but same problem Every users on my emby server get the same issue. We're using Chrome browser. With Kodi (emby plugin) no issue. If you need info, I will try to send you even if I don't see anything wrong in the logs... I will try to give you the way to reproduce it: 1) Open chrome, embyweb and load a 1080p Multi file in mkv (it's my case, but I don't think the quality is really important). 2) look it for example, half of the episode. Click on pause. Lets the episode and the tab open on chrome. 2 hours in my case. (I think THIS is important, and let's the episode in the browser will create the issue after) BTW: I don't know if it's normal and link but when I look the admin dashboard, I can see during this 2 hours, the red line (throttle) increases little by little like 0.1% every 10 seconds, so after 1h30, the line is complete ... Not sure it's a normal behavior, anyway. 3) You click on play button, everything is fine, I look 5min like that, I get my subtitles, I'm happy 4) I close the emby tab, in other words, the episode that i watched 5) THE PROBLEM I open again embyweb, try to click on "continue" the episode. It starts from 27min. It's perfect BUT no subtitle at all. If I try to start again from the begin, I get subtitles on the first seconds, if I skip 2min, 30min ect, no subtitle ever . So I try to look 5min without skip anything from the begin and after 2min36, subtitles desapears... and I don't get it anymore. It's crazy I never get this problem with old version. Thank you in advance to fix this new issue Regards
  3. Hello, I am new to Emby, and so far everything seems awesome, with the exception that on Tizen OS the Emby app is not loading subtitles at all. My Setup: TV: UE43KU6072 Tizen OS version: 1240 (Tizen says this is the newest version even after a manual check) NAS: Synology (DSM 6.2.2-24922 Update 3) Emby server version: Emby client for TizenOS versions tested: from SmartHub: version: 1.0.62 released on: July 18 2019 (according to the store) from Github: Commit: 160756d43ddb7bfebf32a728bffde83766278000 (latest one at the time of writing) Played media: container: MP4 video codec: x264 audio codec: aac subtitles: external (.srt) & the same subtitles embedded as MOV_TEXT Expected behaviour: To be able to play the movie on the Emby TizenOS client app with subtitles, just as I am able to play it from the Android, IOS and Web clients. Actual behaviour: The subtitles are selected, but no subtitles are shown during playback. What I tried: Sideloading the latest version of the client app Completely disabling the transcoding permissions for the user signed in the TizenOS client app. Enabling the transcoding and transcoding the media to a lower quality Checking the "embyserver.txt" log for errors - did not find anything out of the ordinary. P.S. I can PM the embyserver.txt log.

    CC always on

I have a Tizen TV with latest firmware. I had installed the USB version of Emby Theater (1.0.62), and just now upgraded to the latest (the TV won't tell me the new version!), but there is still a problem with media that has embedded closed captions. The closed captions are always being displayed on the TV, even after turning subtitles/cc off. If I turn on subtitles/cc inside Emby, I get new subtitles (created by Emby) and also the embedded cc subtitles. When playing the media on the web interface, they do *not* appear. The PC version of Theater also does not show them. Only the TV! Info: Samsung UN65RU8000FXZA FLAT 65'' 4K UHD 8 Series Smart TV (2019) 65" TV details: MN : UN65RU8000FXZA PD : --/--/---- SN : 08953CCM303711T FW : T-MSMAKUC-1065.0 FC : SWU-OU_T-MSMAKUC_1065_190416 MI : T-MSMAKUC LS : US DI : BDCD36PSYNY6A MA : 24FCE5505C0C SC : 10101_AC1_Z_Z Emby Server The only web media info I found was "stats for nerds", and I posted the screen cap here. Using VLC, you can see the embedded subtitles and closed captions in a screen cap. Also, I have a screen cap of what the embedded cc looks like in VLC. Edit: The app version is 1.0.64. I attached the media info screen cap from the web interface. Also, I tried turning off subtitles when watching the video by navigating to the CC dialog and selecting no subtitles. "No subtitles" is also selected on the screen for the show where Resume/Play from beginning shows. Edit: It just occurred to me that I could use my phone to take a photo of the tv screen for any useful information, if anyone wants it. Edit: Added photos of tv. The photos showing subtitles are the *embedded* closed captions. Added the emby server logs. Edit: Added screen cap of vlc media info, showing Stream 6 is where the unwanted subtitles are coming from. emby-logs.txt emby-logs2.txt
  5. Hello, I'm wondering how I can use Emby's automatic downloading for one specific show. I had this tv series added to emby in the past, it had embedded subtitles at the time. I recently added higher quality versions of the same show, getting rid of the older files with embedded subtitles. But now after running the subtitles automatic task and manually telling the library to replace all metadata it isn't downloading the subtitles. I can do the manual search per episode and it finds them just fine. I have the VIP option with opensubtitles so I don't think I'm hitting the cap, and I glanced through the server logs and found plenty of "POST https://vip-api.opensubtitles.org/xml-rpc"entries without any errors. Along with a few entries where it successfully grabbed a couple of subtitles for some other items in my library. I'm wondering if I am just going to need to completely remove the item from my library, let emby realize it's gone, and then add it back in.

  7. Hello Team, an option to disable burning in subtitles systemwide to avoid the high cpu usage of this process would be nice! Eventually do not even show such subs as option if disabled. Greetings!

    Roku Settings for Anime Subtitles

Hi, I'm currently having an issue with Emby displaying the incorrect subtitles/format when viewing anime specifically. No clue if it also happens to my movies as of yet. I have three Roku 4 Ultras and one Roku TCL 4k TV. They all exhibit the same issue. The subtitles will play but they're ugly standard subs, not the internal subtitles. Web player in Emby shows the correct subtitles but the Roku's do not. Plex does show the correct subtitles as well. I'm aware of possible previous problems involving the Roku and Emby in the past. This one thread https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/33554-firmware-71/?hl=%2Banime+%2Bsubtitles+%2Broku here seems like it was a fixed issue needing no special settings. I'm new to Emby and coming from Plex. Currently test driving it and seeing if it will be permanent as I find many of the features and the UI to be superior atm. My thoughts are that this is a user settings issue where I have something set up incorrectly. I would appreciate it if someone could possibly correct any mistakes I've made. Included are screenshots relevant to my issue. The first two screens are what it should look like. Two latter are what I'm getting. Fifth one is my Roku setting for CC. Sixth is of my playback Emby settings. Seventh is something that I think was on by default that may or may not be a problem. Any help would be appreciated.
  11. Hi! I have installed the emby server on my Windows 10 computer. I have also installed the emby app v2.2.4 on my Samsung-TV from 2014 (UE46F8000) using Orsay OS. Everything works brilliantly except for one very annoying thing: No subtitles are shown in the movies. I have played with the server subtitles settings, but it does not seem to matter whatever settings I choose. Subtitles are not shown on my TV, period. If I play back the movies on my Windows PC where the server is run, I can select the subtitle language and subtitles are shown during playback. The subtitles are part of each .MKV media file. Is there a subtitle issue with emby app v2.2.4 for Samsung Orsay TV:s? Please help.

Hi, I've encountered some problems while downloading media to watch offline (with Emby from the Windows Store, as the regular desktop version doesn't have this feature): 1. External subtitles don't download, which makes this feature for me useless: 1.1: I have set my preferred subtitle language in the settings, and always play subtitles. 2. No feedback about current downloads: 2.1: When clicking download, you have to dig in the settings to view the downloaded items. Maybe display them, and the download progress, under "My Downloads" on the home screen? If not, maybe a faster way to see all downloaded / downloading files using a cog wheel next to "My Downloads", like in the android app. 2.2: The download status goes from "transferring 0%" to "Downloaded". There is no download progress in percentage. 3. The "My Downloads" item on the start screen doesn't refresh when media is downloaded / deleted: Downloaded files show up after a restart of the app Deleted files are gone after a restart of the app Number 1 is important to me, 2 and 3 are a mere cosmetic features. Thanks! Jelle
  13. After the upgrade to subtitles do not work after stopping and then resuming a show on firetv. I've tried turning them of and back on with no success.

  15. I used a Roku Premiere and some other Roku which could only do 1080p which wasn't very good. I was using nvdia shield tv as the server with emby beta server Just want to report the Roku Premiere handled 4K content good as long as the movie was under 12GB or so. 20GB and 25GB file size (forgot the bitrate) then it'd stutter. Roku can't do double byte subtitle decoding which means no Japanese, Chinese, Korean etc. That's a limitation for some. Anyway I'm gonna stick with nvidia shield for all my clients it looks like.
  16. Hi everyone, I am a recent Emby user, I have configured Emby Server on windows, with a library containing movies, series, animes. Then, on my android TV (philips), I use the emby application to connect to my emby server. I have a problem when I want to choose subtitles for my series: the choice of audio and subtitles is grayed out for the series, while I have added the subtitle files to the associated video directory. For films, I don't have this problem. In the only subtitle configuration settings I found, I activated everything available for displaying and selecting subtitles. Do you have a solution for me? Please excuse me if my post is repetitive with respect to an existing post. Thank you very much, Alesk_andr

    Subtitles always playing

Every time I watch anything on the Roku that has subtitles with it, it always plays the subs even though they aren't forced and I have to manually go and turn it off. I don't think this is the expected behavior. Is there any way to disable subs unless they are forced?
  18. Hi, I have noticed that for the movies that are multi-part (from several discs), the subtitles are downloaded only for the 1st part of the movie. The 2nd part is ignored. Example of contents of directory: <movie name> - Part 1 - 1080p 3D-FTAB.eng.srt <movie name> - Part 1 - 1080p 3D-FTAB.fre.srt <movie name> - Part 1 - 1080p 3D-FTAB.jpn.srt <movie name> - Part 1 - 1080p 3D-FTAB.mkv <movie name> - Part 1 - 1080p 3D-FTAB.nfo <movie name> - Part 2 - 1080p 3D-FTAB.mkv This also applies if the files are named this way: <movie name> - 1080p 3D-FTAB - Part1.eng.srt <movie name> - 1080p 3D-FTAB - Part1.fre.srt <movie name> - 1080p 3D-FTAB - Part1.jpn.srt <movie name> - 1080p 3D-FTAB - Part1.mkv <movie name> - 1080p 3D-FTAB - Part1.nfo <movie name> - 1080p 3D-FTAB - Part2.mkv The multiple parts are correctly recognized by the emby server. In this particular case, the subtitles for part 1 extend over the 2 parts. However as expected the subtitles are only displayed when playing the 1st part, and not with the 2nd one. So I guess this particular situation has not been taken into account into the plugin design. I understand it is not obvious since when the movie is in 2 or more parts: - the plugin has to check if there are corresponding subtitles for each part (with the right number and duration of each part) - alternatively, when the only subtitles available are all in 1 file : the plugin must fetch the right file (taking account the several parts as a whole for the duration, naming etc.), and the player must also take this into account (use the 1st part subtitle file with adequate time offsets for each other part) ==> taking all this into account, is there an automatic workaround or a way to correct the plugin and/or player behavior ? Thanks & regards, D

    Subtitles not shown on resume

Hey, with the switch to the intermediate "emby-loading.mp4" video, I started seeing subtitle issues when resuming playback - I can switch between them, but they're not shown. I've seen a handful of similar topics, but none treated about playback resume, which is the only breaking case for me. Please find attached the plugin debug log. 20. Hi, I've put my subtitles on the same folder where the content is in and I made sure of the format that it's supposed to be in (Aaaaa.eng.srt, I think) and I've restarted and scanned my emby server several times, and I still get no external subtitles. What should I do? Also, is there any specific format for Episode and Season external subtitles or can I name the subtitles however I want, just as long as the language is formatted perfectly (Aaaaa.ara.S01E01.srt)?
  21. I really like using Emby to manage my movie and TV libraries, and to provide remote access to them. When I'm home, for various reasons, I use Kodi as my player, rather than one of the Emby apps. I use the Emby for Kodi add-on, the Embuary skin, and configure them for native/direct play over nfs to my nas. I have both Emby and Kodi configured to store subtitles alongside the video files. Emby is configured to download external srt subtitles from opensubtitles.org for movies and episodes that have neither external subtitles already, nor subtitles encoded into the video file itself. I only need/use English subtitles. All of that works beautifully most of the time. When doing direct-play in Kodi, it will use the embedded subtitle found in the video container file, or the external *.eng.srt file downloaded and saved by Emby. When I notice that subtitles are out-of-sync with the video, one of the nice ways I can solve that within Kodi is to use their mechanism for picking and downloading a new srt subtitle file from opensubtitles.org. I pick a file that I think will more closely match the video file I have, download it, and continue to play the video to test the new subtitles. It usually only takes one or two tries to find a subtitle file that is perfectly synchronized. However, Emby saves subtitle files as *.eng.srt and Kodi saves them as *.en.srt. So, after choosing and downloading an in-sync subtitle file in Kodi, I now have two subtitle files on disk--one that is in sync with the video (named *.en.srt) and one that is out-of-sync with the video (named *.eng.srt). Although Kodi saves the file using the 'en' tag, it seems to also recognize files that use the 'eng' language tag in their names. It seems to prefer the *.en.srt file if available, either because that's the naming standard it uses when it saves, or because that file is newer, I'm not sure which. I'm not sure how Emby decides which file to use as the English subtitle file when streaming, but if it picks the same one it saved, it will be the out-of-sync one. All of this would be solved though, if Emby and Kodi both used the same language tag standard. Kodi seems to be using either ISO 639-1, or the IANA Language Subtag Registry. I'm not sure which because both of those use 'en' as the code for English. Emby, on the other hand, seems to be using ISO 639-2. There are quite a few different standards for language tags. See the tags I've given this topic for some of them. The only guidance I could find when searching for preferred standards for this type of use came from W3C in this document: https://www.w3.org/International/questions/qa-lang-2or3 Their recommendation is to use the IANA Language Subtag Registry instead of ISO 639-1 or ISO 639-2. If that's the case, then I think Kodi is correct to us 'en' instead of 'eng'. Thanks so much for any help with this. I hope that Emby and Kodi can get on the same page for which language tags to use when naming srt files.
  22. I've a problem with misaligned/scaled subtitles (vobsub) with some of my media. I attached a screenshot showing that the subtitles burnt in during transcoding are not centered. It looks like the scaling of the subtitles is a bit off. This might cause the misalignment. I figured out, that the issue only come up when I crop letterboxed media to get the actual or intended aspect ratio of my media files while rendering. I also tested if anamorphic rendering has any influence to this problem, but the issue seems to be not affected by this, Emby is handling this (mostly) with no issues. A external player like VLC is handling this correctly. I'm on Emby running in a Docker container. But the issue is not related to this specific version of Emby. I'm pretty sure this issue come up with a Emby update a while ago, but I cannot reproduce with which version this issue came up anymore. Additionally I'm using the Web App with Firefox 62. External subtitles ANSI

I am running MediaBrowser Server (Version 3.0.5238.39498) on a Windows 8.1 box. I also use HTML, Roku, Windows and Android app as clients. My problem is external srt subtitles support and I think it relates to the server because the problem is the same to all client apps. My language is Portuguese and therefore we use accented characters like "á" or "ã" or even "ç". When external subtitles are shown, some lines are just not displayed. This has always been this way on all Server versions and on all client apps. I usually circumvent this problem by embedding the subtitles on the MKV and then they are always displayed accordingly. Today I tested one subtitle again just to see the missing lines. Then I noticed all lines displayed had no accented characters. And I got an idea. I opened the SRT file on notepad and saved it as a UTF-8 file. Then tested again and all subtitles were displayed accordingly. So my conclusion is the problem relates only to accented subtitles on ANSI SRT files. This is, though, a huge problem as I currently have over 1500 titles most of them with external ANSI SRT subtitles. Also most of subtitles I get are on ANSI files. Is there any way to tackle this issue? Any configuration? Do you think this could be addressed on a future MediaBrowser version? Attached is a SRT file containing Brazilian Portuguese text which can be used on a test. TheWolfofWallStreet2013.zip Thanks in advance and congratulations for the groundbreaking product.

  25. Hello, Hebrew subtitles are not displayed correctly in my emby server either in the web player or in the LG TV app. the problem is essentially the same as was previously reported here for iOS: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/3137 (probably an issue with left-to-right languages in general) for example this is a text from a hebrew srt file: 23 00:04:57,124 --> 00:05:00,999 ?מה קורה .אני לא שומע אתכם this is a screenshot from the emby player - note the misplaced punctuation: this is a screenshot from VLC player where the same subtitle file is displayed correctly: can this be fixed ?
