  1. I have several actors who have commas in their names. The metadata for these actors is split into two names at the comma. For example Robert Downey, Jr. is identified as two people Robert Downey and Jr. Via Wikipedia (note the comma): Here's the snippet from the movie.xml file within my Iron Man 3 folder: <Persons> <Person> <Name>Robert Downey, Jr.</Name> <Type>Actor</Type> <Role>Tony Stark</Role> </Person> Here's what shows up in the HTML interface for Iron Man 3: Is there something that I can change to prevent this from happening? Either this didn't happen in MB2 or I simply didn't pay quite as much attention to it until now.

    Upcoming TV

Good Afternoon People, I think this is my first request post in all the years I have been using MediaBrowser! I currently use MetaBrowser for all my MetaData and have been since day one, purely for the fact I'm very fussy over my images and artwork, I know that MB3 has its Own Meta Editor now but I'm stuck in my ways and will continue to use MetaBrowser. I have noticed, if I disabled the "Use Internet MetaData" within the admin console, I do not get the Upcoming TV listings, now I have disabled as much as possible and locked the folders before turning on the above, but I really don't want my current Media modified and I want use the Upcoming TV feature. Is there a way to have the Upcoming TV as a Plugin or possibly simply a option within the main Administration Settings? Cheers, Edd.
  4. Bambi is incorrectly displaying the production year for Bambi (1942) as 2013. I can't work out where it is pulling this from; here are the three links to the various sources of metadata: IMDB: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0034492/ RT: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/9375 TMDB: http://www.themoviedb.org/movie/3170 All the other fields look correct in Metadata Manager. There is no way to stop MB Server from updating the "production year" field other than turning off "Enable internet metadata providers for this item." which I would prefer not to do.
  5. Hi, I have lots of TV series that are only one season long (typical for Asian series), so all episodes are stored in the show's folder without a season sub-folder. With MB Server version: 3.0.5099.2102, if the folder contains series.xml then none of the episodes are displayed in the clients. If I remove series.xml file then the episodes are displayed in the clients. Comparing the series.xml to the ones with season sub-folders, I noticed these ones don't have <SeriesId> tag in them. So it is now compulsory to have all the episodes in a season sub-folder? Cheers, Gordon
  6. The issue is probably that the network is not waking up in time for the server to see it. I've seen this on my dev machine as well when it sleeps. @@Luke, Perhaps we should delay the library scan that is performed on a wake for a few seconds to give the network time to initialize.

    "AirPlay" type implementation

First off, I'd just like to say thank you for all of the incredible work you guys have done. I have been using media browser since version 2.0, and MB3 is just fantastic. I will be contributing shortly. The iOS app is great, and I've thoroughly enjoyed using it on my iPhone 4s. The remote control functionality is useful for scrubbing through movies and TV shows quickly. I have noticed that browsing a large media library on my phone is much faster than using a remote and MBC/MBT. I think it would be great if I could browse to a video on my phone and then tell it to play in MBC instead of my phone, much like the way airplay works. I would assume both devices would need to have the same user logged in. So the "workflow" would be like this: Start MBC/MBT Open app on my phone Browse to a movie Hit "Play on device" and select my MBC/MBT session The video would automatically start playing in MBC/MBT Thanks again for all your hard work, Charlie

    Server cannot find path

Hello, I have a problem that seems similar to: http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/2810-scan-media-library-hangsnever-completes/ I had the library hang on me, and stopping the server had no effect (it would say "stopping" but just hang there). Manually stopping the server service on the actual server seemed to work except that when the Media Server started up again, it could not find the path, or said access was denied. Removing and adding the path manually or by browsing to the UNC path did not work. Rebooting did not help the first couple of times, until I rebooted both the server and all client machines. At all times I was able to see the remote paths as shares and access the file, even creating and deleting dummy files within. The dashboard then allowed for browsing to the UNC path and I was able to re-add the library. Now, the scan is stuck at 93.9% and pressing “stop” is the same as above, but at least there are no other error messages. Restarting the server did not help, and the log file shows that some items are not found (see below for example). Any assistance would be appreciated. I'd reboot all machines again, but my son is watching something downstairs.
  9. With the default settings in MB Classic/MB Server I'm often interrupted to update either the server or the client and/or to perform restarts. I have MB Server running as a service. I would like to know: is it possible to fully automate all updates to occur at a scheduled time (like 3AM), that requires no day to day intervention? If not, how do I disable the existing semi-automatic updating and then manually update?
  10. I ran into a situation where I couldn't log into the server with my account with administration privileges the other day. Fortunately this was on a remote device and not the PC where the MB3 server is. I was still logged in there and I created another account with admin rights and wrote down the password. This brings up my request.. How about a way to reset or recover a password so that people don't inadvertently get locked out?
  11. Hi Luke, I have a question about how the server collects all the images. I have been using meta browser to collect all the images and movie/show info for my collection. Recently I reinstalled the server to create the new IBN folder. I noticed in my media collection that I have more images downloaded, but the images I have are folders with extra fanart & thumbs, season folders in landscape mode, more then one clearart art logo and season banners. I am thinking of having MB server do all my metadata collections because it does make some things easier, but what can I do for the media that I setup already. I am going to delete everything now, but I don't want it to recollect everything again. PS....I did notice with one new series that I added to my collection, it added just the right amount of images, which leaves me to wonder should I start deleting most of the images in my other folders and let MB Server collect them. I know going back that you recommended people do that. Thanks Dominick
  12. Hi, after the last server update I can not see my metadata anymore, only "chapters" to each movie. The movie counter showed around 370 now it showing 766 :S I've added a picture to describe my problem better. (attached file) *** This happens in MBT and Web ***** Also, if I go to "collection" and choose ex "blu-ray" then all the movies are shown properly. What is wrong? **EDIT** Okey, it's looks like it something to do with the way the server handles naming. MBT should ignore the "#". MBC is working fine, and so is the WEB-version if I choose a letter from A-Z and not the first "#". (as shown in the picture) MBT is showing all the movies correctly, but i need to scroll trough all the "chapters first" before it finds the movies from A-Z. I think this is the problem, and it is now more related to MBT.

    Playstate Backup

I re-built my server on a VM just to see if it would work ok and it works great. One question: is there a way to copy the play-state information from my old server to my new server? Thank you for great software again. Cheers,
  14. I've installed Server and am going through the initial installation. All my Media is on a GoFlex Home network Shared drive. The login for the drive is the same I used for my profile. When I try to put my media path of \\GOFLEX_HOME\GoFlex Home Public\Movies I get an incorrect login/password message. When I use the mapped drive Seagate Dashboard creates I get missing part of path error. This Seagate drive won't allow me to modify the permissions in Windows, but all I can do through the drive configuration tool/dashboard is create an account.
  15. newly added movies are no longer pulling the folder cover or inserting a movie.xml file? everything else seems to be pulling, ie: disk ,backdrops, banners, etc.

    Image cache cleanup

I am running out of space due to metadata and i think i figured out why. Both metabrowser and media browser are downloading meta data for some titles. That means I have a few too many image files and they are clogging up my HTPC client SSDs. I would like to delete all of the jpg files from my NAS share, reprocess the images and then repopulate the media browser caches. Will that plan work to rebuild the image caches in both the classic and server directories? Cheers,
  17. I started using the service feature and now notice that each server update requires me to download the update manually and install them after shutting the service down. Is this because I'm using the service or is it a feature of the new server? The server always used to just prompt me to update and I could just click to restart MBServer. My server is logged in with a user permenantly anyway (for MediaCentreMaster) so I don't really need to use a service but I thought it would be neater. Also, I know the Dashboard cannot restart the service yet but does the Shutdown Server button stop the service?
  18. Hi, I've fairly recently stopped using meta</browser> for my metadata fetching purposes, and started using MBServer for everything. One feature, however, that I do miss from metabrowser is the auto-renaming feature. I suppose I'm a little OCD when it comes to how tidy my collection is, so I liked the fact that I could just add something to my collection, (i.e. a television episode) and it would automatically be given a nice, tidy file name. Example: "Breaking Bad S03E02 - Caballo Sin Nombre (2010).mkv" looks much nicer than: "Breaking.Bad.S05E15.720p.HDTV.x264.mkv". Same goes for movies, where something like: "man.of.steel.2013.1080p.bluray.x264.mkv" really sticks out to me, and if it could look more like: "Dracula (1992) - [MKV].mkv" my OCD would feel better haha. Real-time folder monitoring was a nice touch as well... Just putting it out there! Thanks for the great service, Patrick PS. I just made up these file names for example purposes...
  19. For some reason, new content that is being added to MediaBrowser by MetaBrowser is being marked as watched by MB Server. I have no idea why this is suddenly happening and any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Cheers,
  20. I cannot start mediabrowser server on my machine following updates to some of the plugins. Invalid Source

When trying to play a movie in MBServer the "Invalid Source" error is received. 3.0.5061.28570. log1.txt
  22. Hi all, Looking for outside wisdom on this one - Have the latest and greatest MB3 server installed (3.0.5050.37565) on a clean install and small amount of h264 WTV files (8 total). However, I've noticed that the metadata is not being saved by MB Server for the movies to the folders at all (for any of them) - upon inspection I'm suspecting it has something to do with trying to get the run time of the movie itself, which seems to return as a massively huge number. Case example is the movie Angels & Demons - I've used VideoRedo to create the .wtv file from a re-encode I made from the original. Link to the metadata from the library explorer is here http://paste2.org/UKGVK1Lc , and the relevant part of the logfile is here which is detailing the error http://paste2.org/U4YsYvUF - to me, it appears the move length value is aborting the saving of the metadata file, would that be correct? I should point out there's absolutely NO problems with playback, the file itself plays back perfectly, runtime length is correct, however it's a wee wrinkle that has me puzzled (and the lack of the metadata obviously stops the values pulling through to MBC displays). Anyone have any ideas?

  24. I have some series with lots of episodes but MediaPortal and MB Classic is only showing the thumbs without filenames which make it hard to find an episode. After some experimenting by renaming a couple of files, I determine it was caused by the square brackets in the filename. These files had no problem in MB2. Say I have media files with tags stored as: \\fs\TV\Show 1 (2013)\ [tag1] file 01 [tag2].avi [tag1] file [tag2] 02.avi In both MB Web MediaPortal and MB Classic, file 01 would not show filename while file 02 would just show 02. MB seems to be ignoring any characters in between the 1st open and last close square brackets: [tag1] filename 01 [tag2].avi --> [tag1] filename [tag2] 02.avi --> 02 MB Server version: 3.0.5031.21343 MB Classic version: B10-3.1
