  1. Hi All Installed the portable version of emby server on my existing server - I'm virtualising Emby and moved the install to the new VPC. Read the instructions on how to do this and upon running the initial library scan it fails immediately. The portable install was deployed to the D drive of my old server but has been moved to C on the new box.. however the log file shows that Emby is still looking for a D: drive during some part of the scan. Anyway to fix this? (Log attached) Many thanks for your time Log.txt

    OSS Contributions

Hi. I'm a Plex refugee who is looking to contribute to an OSS media server platform so that instead of waiting for features I feel are important, I can be a bit more proactive. Is Emby Open Source? I see there is a GitHub repository (https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby) with GPL licensing. It doesn't seem to have recent contributions, however. I'd be interested in contributing to the Server, and the Android mobile and TV apps. Thanks!
  3. As i just lost my entire typescript -- Emby server is quite often sluggish and unresponsive. May show libraries on the home page of the web app, but nothing else. If it shows the libraries, it will show nothing inside them more often than not. Lots of time with the spinner. Similar issues with the Roku, iOS, and Android apps. I've very occasionally been able to watch or listen to things, but even when I can get into a library and get it to display items, the library is usually incomplete. Artist sorts in music return either endless spinner, or very partial results. As I recently added two libraries, I'm loathe to execute a restart (it's grindingly slowly towards 100% on those two.) If I can get a response on the web app or the iOS or Android app, I can sometimes cast to the Roku app on the TV. embyserver.txt embyserver-63671356800.txt

    Help improving server performance

I have been running an emby server for about 2 years now. Love the platform and am an emby premier subscriber. I am looking to improve the performance of my emby interface have it be web or app. Currently my emby will have random hangs with a spinning loading circle when just loading content or using the search function has a good couple of seconds before it begins to populate anything. I currently run a workstation with 2 xeon e5 2660, 128gb ddr3 ecc all on a gigabit network with FiOS gigabit 940/880mbps internet connection. I have multiple hard drives installed all minimum 7200rpm. (Users at a given time range from 1-6, the amount of users using does not seem to have an effect as to weather or not I experience the slow hangs) My current emby server runs on a windows server 2008 virtual machine on VMware workstation with 16gb of ram and 16 processing threads dedicated to the VM on a dedicated 7200rpm spinning disk with one of my 5 gigabit nics dedicated specifically to the VM and nothing else. (I have a 120gb SSD installed not in use that I was considering using as a cache drive but am posting here to see if that's the best use). As for my storage I have 2 Netgear readynas raid 5 arrays setup content storage on a network share mapped to the emby server and their gigabit nics are bonded for 2 gigabit total throughout (have tried unbonding and testing performance to see if it caused the hangs and it does not). I also recently purchased an hdhomerun prime and set it up for live TV through emby. I noticed the tv guide and channel population and selecting the channels is very slow even on good connections. (hdhomerun is also connected via gigabit) tried having tuner transcoding on and off, doesn't seem to make a different in speed. My networking equipment are some Netgear unmaneged gigabit gs switched leading into a ubiquiti unifi 8 port managed switch and a unifi usg firewall as my main router/firewall. Given my current setup, is there something that could be configured wrong or that I could improve to increase the performance of my server ? (I apologize for any typos. Typed this up on my phone)
  8. Hey all! I'm attempting to set up Emby to run externally. However, whenever I attempt to connect with my Android device in either Chrome or the Emby app, I can see the server but get the message "We're unable to connect to the selected server right now. Please ensure it is running and try again." I've been doing a fair bit of research on this issue and haven't been able to find anything that has solved the problem (though plenty of others with similar issues). I've gone through the entire Connection Troubleshooter with no luck. I'm uncertain if my router is blocking traffic and how to check if so. I'm on AT&T U-verse. The combined modem/router that AT&T gave us should be in bridge mode, and I'm using my own router for WiFi and ethernet connections. I've set up a static IP for my PC that's running Emby Server. I've also set up port forwarding on my router for 8096 and that static IP address. Now it shows up as the local address. The remote address, however, is different: [image removed] I can connect to the local one from inside my network, no problem there. Still having problems connecting remotely. I've tried both signing in with Emby Connect (the server shows up but gives me the error message when I attempt to connect) and adding a server manually for both the remote and in-home addresses (same message) on my Android from both Chrome and the Emby app. canyouseeme.org is showing my public IP address at port 8096 is not connecting ("Connection refused"). I suspect the problem is due to the difference between the two IP addresses, possibly due to the AT&T U-verse modem. I am unable to use that IP address, however, in my port forwarding (my router insists upon 10.166.*.*, which is different from the public IP). I did set "External domain" to the same IP as the In-Home (LAN) access just for kicks and that didn't seem to work either. The attached log file does have an "error processing request" but I don't know if it's related. I did some digging on the forum, on port forwarding in general, and so forth, and now I'm here. Has anyone else run into this particular problem when connecting remotely? Thanks.
  9. A quick question - would there be any possibility for an Emby server plug-in for the Western Digital My Cloud series of NAS boxes? I have a MyCloud Mirror (Gen 1) which currently supports my Kodi MySQL database (and the media itself) and am seeing some good things about Emby. So I was wondering if there was any possibility/plan for that NAS series, or would it need something of greater power? If there is a better place to ask this question, please move the thread (new here so still finding my way around).

    Question about my SSL cert

Hello all, A friend of mine reached out to me the other day to let me know that they could no longer connect to my emby server. It had been running fine, so I was puzzled. When I went and looked at the settings, it turns out that the server no longer appears to be running over HTTPS, only on HTTP. I don't even see any option for HTTPS other than under Expert->Advanced where I can set the external HTTPS port. I am currently on the 3.5 beta. Everything works fine right now on HTTP, but I would much prefer to be running over HTTPS again. Anyone have any thought or suggestions? Thanks! N
  11. Since I don't really know databases, I don't understand this procedure. Can someone break this down for someone who has no idea. What do you enter when it ask "Please specify the database name under which you want to access the attached database"? Where does that command go?
  12. Hi, I am new to emby but I have a question / feature request. I have 2 emby server a) home nas company nas Is there a way of mapping the both together, so that I don't have to switch all time the server and that I have kind of a global search on both servers? Or how do you resolve this? Please tell me that this feature exists, and how to use thanks in advance
  13. Hey, During a library scan, Emby decided to freeze up. My steps were to restart the server, which I probably shouldn't have, and then that froze up. I closed out of all the windows and it won't boot up my dashboard. Any tips? Thanks. - Arly

    Mass-Select Content

Hey, Organizing items into specific collections w/o plug-ins. I have been able to mass-select before, just have no idea how I got there. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. - Arly
  15. My Emby server is setup on an UNRAID server with the Emby created docker. It constantly loses the thumbnail images in the Next Up category. I can re-add them and in a day they are gone. It would appear these are not saved with the media on the server as are other images? What do I need to do to correct this issue, it has become quite annoying Thanks... Will
  16. Hi, I missed a movie on TV recently, and it's likely to be re-run at some point. However, I can "only" search for keywords in current tv guide. It could be cool if I could create a "wish list", which Emby scanned for when updating guide info. Then there could be a push message, pop-up, email, icon, or other way of notifying the user that a keyword on his/her search list has come up. Thanks - Jennice

    last.fm addon gone?

I just did a reset of my whole system and reinstalled emby 3.0.5786 and recognized that the last.fm scrobbler plugin was completely gone from the catalog. I know that they pretty much messed up their API, but are there chances that scrobbling music from emby will come back anytime?
  18. I have an old show encoded in XVID inside AVI containers. When I DirectPlay them on a device that supports AVI/XVID, they play fine, but if transcoding kicks in then the video turns into a garbled pixelated mess with tons of macroblocking. The audio sounds fine. This happens on all devices when transcoding. 19. Bug: Image Fetcher settings are not saved if other edits have been made and not saved first. Workaround is to manage the Image Fetchers BEFORE making any other changes Severity: Important/High OS/Apps Effected: Server (via Web) OS/Apps Effected relates to hardware that I have access too. If it doesn't state other OSes, it's not that it doesn't exist, rather it's that I don't have the hardware to check for it.
  20. Hello All. I currently have a Emby Server on Windows 10. I have it pretty much how I want. I use Storage Spaces with a handful of drives. I want to dual boot my PC with Fedora or Linux Mint and also set up my Server on it as well. This server will have its own drive but it will have the same data as the other. The perfect situation is that no matter which system I boot into, Emby is running fine in the background. I have just downloaded an add-on app to save my server settings. I have a copy of those settings on my new drive. So, I am needing some help on how to migrate these settings from a Windows 10 install to either a fedora/Linux Mint install. Is there a guide, link, or walk through that will show me what to do? The hardest part about setting up a new server is getting everything just right. I would like to make that not as difficult, especially adding the users again. Thanks!

    International Viewing.

Hey, So, context to my situation, I am in the process of immigrating to Canada via USA. I have set a server up at a location in the United States (this unit will move to Canada within six months from now) & want to view my content from Canada through my Xbox One. Is it possible to access a server located in the USA from Canada?
  22. Hi, I am a new user (came from Plex). Just got an Apple TV and downloaded the app on the Apple TV and on my Mac. The server is on a hard-drive connected to my Mac. I am trying to access the server through Emby from my Apple TV and it is showing the screen Welcome to Emby. Inserted photo. I went through the Enter server Address. ( I tested it on another computer PC - worked just fine). And it does not even show an error screen just loops back to the same "welcome to Emby". I have checked my LAN setting on the Apple TV and reset them, nothing is working. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Holly
  23. One of the remote users on my server has been reporting freezing and stuttering quite often despite waiting for the transcode to reach 100%. It has happen across several different movies. It will play fine for some time but after 10-30 minutes the movie will freeze and it will never stutter and freeze from that point on. The movie is always 100% transcoded before playback begins and both of our speeds are quite sufficient for streaming and we experience no problems on any other sites. Were mainly using the web interface and google chrome for the remote user to play movies but have tried using embycon for kodi and experienced the same problem but much worse (froze every 2 minutes). I've tried enabling and disabling hardware acceleration as well as limiting the bitrate. In the past we've had success using 1080p 5mbps and waiting 30-45 minutes before playback. Now with the same settings were experiencing way more problems. Not quite sure what more i can try.
  24. Hi all I haven't been on the forums for a very long time and am back for a query. Since Media Browser and the rebranding to Emby I have seen Emby transform into a masterpiece and am very thankful for the teams that have put in the effort and time into this nifty set of software and different packages out there to suit peoples desires in terms of being compatible between Operating Systems and devices. This will most undoubtedly be mentioned throughout the forums but I just somewhat do not know what to search when it comes to this. I have looked among the different options for the NAS Servers but have not come to any conclusion as to what is better or for my needs. I also don't have much of an idea when it comes to hardware or OS and what's available. If any users that have experimented with more than one device or OS that can actually comment on what they found better in comparison would be much appreciated. I am still interested in what users have to say about one still if that is all they managed to use. 1 - People who have experience in the different NAS devices? (QNAP, Synology, WD, Seagates, etc.) What components benefit what and why? Possibly specs or a basic rule of thumb for when it comes to picking hardware The gist from what I've seen really is, if I am wanting the server to transcode, I will need a decent CPU to follow suite, but if I am direct streaming or direct playing, the hard work has been taken out of it and can go for something on the lighter end? 2 - The different OS and what each ones pro's and con's are? (ASUSTOR, FreeNAS, Open Media Vault, QNAP, Synology, etc.) Just an OS on the whole. Features and ease of use. Can I change OS regardless of the device I end up with and could I run into problems doing this? Mainly where Emby shines the most in terms of being easy to set up and close to error free as a package as this is my main purpose of wanting a NAS Server. (I am aware that none of them have been under development for long so expect bugs and fixes needed) 3 - Anyone who has built a NAS Device and/or decided against a NAS and decided to build another PC for a server? Would it be advisable to build my own NAS or PC in terms of getting more what I want for a better price?I currently use my PC as the server streaming to a Samsung TV with the App, from what I believe, I don't think in my scenario transcoding it taking place at all as the media plays almost instantly and my CPU/ram usage on my PC doesn't seem to increase while running the server. The TV naturally plays MP4's and the bitrate I imagine is within what the TV handles as the MP4's are around 2gig each with 1080p video and stereo output. I would potentially would want the server to do a few other things such as a monthly backup of mine and my GF's PC's and possibly have remote access. Sorry for the long post. Thanks in advance for anyone that can be of assistance and has some input on the subject. Cheers Strugglez/ Mike.

    Emby Server 3.4

Hello, I noticed that this release did not appeared on the RPM Repo.
