  1. Hi, I can't stop praising the Emby community for the excellent work they are doing. THe more I use Emby the more I like it. I'm hoping that through my testing and feedback i can contribute that little to the community. I have a problem which is think is a missing functionality rather than an issue itself. The problem occurs both with my Android app and with the web client. Basically, I set an access schedule for my son so that he doesn't watch movie when he is suppose to be sleeping. All fine to this point. THen, when i log on with the son's account and I am trying to do this outside the planned access schedule, I don't get any error message "You are not allowed to use Emby outside these hours ....". In the webclient it just keeps looping to the login window while the android app just hangs and keeps you waiting while nothing happens. In some instances, the Android app crashed and every other time i had to kill it. Surely this is because the server is not passing the right message to the app, something like "dear server, please let me in" and the server doesn't reply "oh, sorry you can't" so the app keeps waiting for an answer? Would this seems a correct interpretation. The logs are clearly recording what is happening (see below). Wouldn't it be sensible to get the server to post a reply to the app trying to access so that the person doesn't wait to infinity for something to happen? 2. Carlos
  3. Version 3.0.5482.4 I removed devices from my server on version 4000, and no devices would get re-populated in the list. I see the devices listed in the security area with an api key. I just dont see them repopulating in the devices area of the server, which limits me to not being able to assign users to certain devices. Is there any server file I could delete to get the devices to start filling in again.

    Can't add media library folders

I just installed Emby on a fresh copy of Ubuntu 12.04, did the wizard and everything. But i can't add any folders to the media library. 5. Hi, I am pulling my hair out trying to get emby to even work any more. It was working fairly well until the past couple of updates then everything just fell apart. I have the memory leak that others have mentioned with emby tv. when I try to launch emby most of the time it will just clock for several minutes. if, and that's a big if I get into emby, tv shows and movies load very slowly. I select tv shows for example usually it will be a blank screen and tv shows don't show up, same thing with moves. and it takes about 30 seconds to 1 minute or more to load. when I select a show I have to sit another minute or more. most of the time I get a wait or close dialog box and no matter what I choose, I have to wait and just end up ending task. this all happened within the last few updates. as new versions came out it gradually got worse and worse. the only pattern I notice on all my media center logs is 5715,Error,,Error getting response from http://server which to me would indicate hardware issue, but I checked everything and nothing is wrong. I/o speed for the array is strong, the server never goes to sleep and neither do the harddrives. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the server and clients serveral times. no changes. Any ideas? I am really at a loss at this point. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! MBClassic-9112015683b39771f2342aca11262ea757f80c4.log
  6. Hi, i'm trying to get the playon plugin to work and noted in other threads that the IP should be set to 127.0.0.1 in the settings of the plugin. I've tried that but, from what can understand there is no response to port 54479 on localhost. Is that the port on which the playon plugin is listening? I've attached the log of the relevant sections. CHeers Antonio
  7. I have been hosting an Emby server for me and my friends to use and all has been going well except for that my college blocks most ports, I changed the public Emby port to 80 (just to test, I don't know if it would have worked) and can no longer connect to my server, when I try to connect I'm just showed "This web page is not available" followed by "ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED". I have tried connecting through my public and local addresses as well as trying the default 8096 ports as well as 80 which I had changed it to with no luck. I have also tried re-installing the server but can still not connect, when I try to connect it shows the Emby icon on the tab so something must be working but I have no idea what to do from here. If I could just get it back to how it was before on 8096 I would be happy. Thanks in advance, Alfie

    Unable to connect to server

I have both Media Browser channels in the Roku Channel Store and another older one I got 2 years ago from private channels. My server always connected to all of them before the server updates last week. Channels are version 1.78, 1.84 & the official ch. I cant get Media Browser to connect to my server since last update. I became a supporter and it links my account, but says unable to connect to server on my Roku. Wont play in Netgear anymore either. That one says Media Browser (Offline). Still plays in my browser. Please help. Would it still play in browser if I pasted the activation key wrong? Also my Roku doesn't show up in the selected play to devise area.

    Cant connect to server

I have Emby server installed on my win7 machine in the bedroom. I use to be able to connect to it via my android app on my phone and watch shows and listen to music at work. Now I cant connnet to it. it says that connection failed and check server. I've installed ET on my wifes laptop to hook up to the tv in the lounge room and i cant connect the lap top to it either it says the same thing. server is running can watch everything on my machine in the room. i connect via emby connect comes up to server choice which is only the one i click on that and thats when it fails
  10. I configured the Server to search for subtitles in my language (Dutch, Flemish). This is working fine, but Emby adds the ".dut" to the srt-file. According to ISO 3166 and ISO 639-1 the more general option should be ".nl". I have the rest of my media configured with the ".nl" addition. To avoid discussions, I propose to make subtitle addition configurable. So I can set it to "nl" manually. This way everybody can be happy.

Play state not restored from backup

I am migrating my server from 1 computer to another. I installed the Server Configuration Backup plugin and made a backup that included everything, including user data. When I restored from the backup, I see the backup did contain this info and the checkboxes were selected when I restored from the backup. But when I view my collections, both from the web interface, and from the android app, the play state was not synched. Did I do something incorrect, or is there another step somewhere?
  12. Could we please see an option to auto-organize television based on cross-referencing the episode's title if present in the filename instead of relying solely on the season/episode number? I can't tell you how many times I some of my toddler's television shows get mixed up in the season/episode information. Right now, I'm handling those manually, sorting them through a folder that's not being watched by Emby's auto-organize feature. I've seen another feature request for the option to add multiple watch folders to the auto-organize tool... this would be a perfect merger with that feature. A secondary watch folder could be designated as the "watch by episode title" folder instead of season/episode. If not functioning that way, a check box to enable/disable the capability would let Emby organize based on episode title if present. If filename does not have title present, then season/episode # information will be the fall back for organization.

    Auto art for home videos

Hi, one of the features that I found useful in Plex was that it populated the art work atuomatically when you included home videos. I don't seem to have worked out whether Emby can do th esame. Is it the case? Cheers Antonio
  14. Hi, I mostly stream from a server (internet) to my desktop computer only using the webinterface. When I go to the remote I only see one device "My device". When I open the remote on my mobile I also see only one device "My device" which refers to my mobile(?). How cool would it be if Emby adds all the browser-sessions to the device list and we can use our mobiles to control them (skip, pause, etc)? Or am I missing something and this is already possible? I'm new to Emby. With kind regards phooka IGNORE! I had a problem with the websocket connections.

    Most images not downloading

Version 3.0.5768.1 Just noticed today that after adding several movies, the images were not being downloaded. The backdrop was, but nothing else was, and these were all movies with plenty of images to choose from for every category. I was able to manually pick all of the images, they were just not automatically downloaded like usual. server-63580679438.txt

  17. Is there any way to have the auto organize feature in the case that there is no Season number and episode number use the aired date to bring back the metadata and rename it with the proper season/episode and move it correctly? I record NBC Nightly News, The Daily Show, and The Colbert Report. I am able to copy them to their respective Show folders and view them from the client but I have no metadata or information with any of them when viewed in the clients. IIn the name of the file there is just the air date and in the case of Colbert and Daily show who the guest was. Examples: NBC Nightly News-2014-05-25.mp4 The Colbert Report-2014-05-01 Saul Williams.mp4 The Daily Show-2014-05-01 David Spade.mp4 Thanks,

    New Hardware Advice

Hi there, Here are the current specs of my server and desktop PCs: Server * NSK2480 Case * 2 x 4GB RAM (4GB being used as RAMDisk) * 60GB Sandisk Ultra SSD * MSI H61MA-E35 Mobo * i3-2105 * 2 x 2TB Samsung Spinpoint F4 * Antec 400w High Current Gamer PSU * 2 x TV Tuners - HVR-2200 and NOVA-HD-S2 Destkop * Xigmatek Midgard Tower * 2 x 4GB RAM and 2 x 2GB RAM * 60GB Crucial M4 SSD * Asus M4A785TD-M EVO * AMD Athlon IIx2 240e * 2 x 1TB Samsung Spinpoint F3 * Antec 380w Earthwatts PSU (taken from the NSK2480 above) Over the weekend my desktop PC died - the motherboard seems to have had it and I am going to chuck it and the CPU away. My dilemma is whether to buy a new motherboard and CPU for the desktop or whether to put the Server motherboard/CPU/RAM in the desktop tower and buy a replacement motherboard/CPU for the Server. What would you guys do? My instinct is to build a new server as: 1. 12GB of RAM would be better utilised in my server 2. Perhaps there are more efficient CPUs that are better suited to a server Any tips would be much appreciated.
  19. Is it me or did I miss something. With the newest stable release version 3.0.5781.0 I don't have a security tab anymore. Is this correct?

    Image editor drop down

Version 3.0.5768.6 Firefox 41.0.2 I've noticed in the last couple of versions that I am not able to select the different types of artwork when searching for new images in the image editor. I click on the drop down and nothing happens. If I have a lot of images to choose from and hit the arrow to go to the next set of images and then go back, I am able to click the menu. Doesn't seem to be an issue in Chrome. Wondering if there is some plugin that may not be active in Firefox that could cause this?

  22. The trouble I am having is with MB Server, currently on Version 3.0.5070.20258 (but this has happened on at least the last 5 updates of the server and It just happened this morning while updating from 3.0.4936.24198) When I "restart the server to apply the update" from the web interface it hangs the webpage and when I reload it throws the "cannot find page error" I am doing this from my laptop via firefox, but the same thing occurs when going to the configuration page and restarting from the configure mediabrowser server link... I then go into the actual profile that runs the server and I see the following errors: -These Happen before I get to the server to manually restart and clear popups- "Unhandled Exception: Only One Usage of Socket Address (protocal/network address/port) is normally permitted" -This comes up in 4 separate boxes at each update and restart "Error Attempting to Update Application FileNotFoundException could not find file: 'C:\Users\MediaCenter\AppData\Roaming\Mediabrowser-Server\system\ionic.zip.dll' Then I clear those boxes, the splash creen comes up then disappears, and throws the following popup box "There was an error launching Media Browser:Could not load type 'MediaBrowser.Controller.Drawing.IImageProcessor' from assembly 'MediaBrowser.Controller, Version=3.0.4936.24198, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'." at the same time it throws the popup: "Unhandled exception:The calling thread cannot access this object because a different thread owns it." -After this I hit ok, then it appears as though MB3 Server closes as the process is gone and the try icon disappears, -I start the server from the start menu and it loads without an issue... Link to related server logs : https://www.dropbox.com/sh/3k1jhuukh71yd0f/A2SwwFDqer Images of error popups attached. Other info that might be relevant: 4th Gen i7 4770k AsRock z87Fatal1ty Professional Mobo 32GB Ram (Corsair VLP) EVGA GeForce GTX 760-Ti SSC Edition Samsung SSD (OS Drive) 4 WD Red 3TB Storage Drives) I also Run Plex (to serve Roku Media until the Roku Channel is a bit more stable) Serviio as well to hit a couple blu-ray players... I use Media Center Master to parse my metadata
  23. I need to re-install windows on my server pc, which means re-installing Emby. I have done this before by simply copying the entire DB, images and all over to another drive, then copying back again before re installing emby (or MB3 as it was then) and it worked fine, this time I have the backup plugin installed and wouldn't mind a fresh DB as there is a lot of junk in mine now i.e files show up on search that don't exist etc. and also something has happened to some of my album metadata where I have the album name/song title twice. The thing I am really bothered about is played, favourite etc. are these backed up in the plugin? sorry in advance if I am asking a question that has been answered a million times.
  24. Transcoded audio sounds wrong, almost like reverse stereo. I can't really explain it. This happened before a long time ago on 3.0.5238.39498, and it went away with an update. I just noticed that its doing it again on 3.0.5724.3 I don't want to make a new video, so I will link my old one. I just tested the video file featured in my example clip and it's back to sounding wrong. See video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIiFOblQ6UA Media info for the source file that was demonstrated in the video I linked - as detected by media-browser: (avi) <streamdetails> <video> <codec>mpeg4</codec> <micodec>mpeg4</micodec> <bitrate>826041</bitrate> <width>624</width> <height>352</height> <aspect>16:9</aspect> <aspectratio>16:9</aspectratio> <framerate>23.97602</framerate> <scantype>progressive</scantype> <default>False</default> <forced>False</forced> <duration>49</duration> <durationinseconds>2951</durationinseconds> </video> <audio> <codec>mp3</codec> <micodec>mp3</micodec> <bitrate>128000</bitrate> <scantype>progressive</scantype> <channels>2</channels> <samplingrate>48000</samplingrate> <default>False</default> <forced>False</forced> </audio> </streamdetails> </fileinfo> Media info for the video I tried to play today that had the same audio issue: (mkv) <streamdetails> <video> <codec>h264</codec> <micodec>h264</micodec> <bitrate>3451213</bitrate> <width>1280</width> <height>720</height> <aspect>16:9</aspect> <aspectratio>16:9</aspectratio> <framerate>23.97602</framerate> <scantype>progressive</scantype> <default>True</default> <forced>False</forced> <duration>21</duration> <durationinseconds>1277</durationinseconds> </video> <audio> <codec>aac</codec> <micodec>aac</micodec> <language>eng</language> <scantype>progressive</scantype> <channels>2</channels> <samplingrate>48000</samplingrate> <default>True</default> <forced>False</forced> </audio> As you can see, there's no correlation between the two formats. However, some video files exhibit this issue while others do not. All play fine from WMP/VLC/MPCHC/Direct Playback in chrome.
