    Migrating to QNAP

I have just got myself a QNAP TS-451+, and have installed emby on it. How do I transfer ibn over to the QNAP. I can't seem to find how to access where emby is installed Thanks for your help
  2. As the title suggests, I'd like to see TMDB added to the list of sources for episode metadata. Some shows actually have better metadata on TMDB. For example, Black sails has no overview for any season 3 episode on thetvdb, but does on tmdb http://thetvdb.com/?tab=episode&seriesid=262407&seasonid=643716&id=5392170&lid=7 https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/47665-black-sails/season/3

Scan Library of One Source Only?

Issue: New media is added to my Ubuntu Linux server pretty frequently. I don't want to thrash my storage by consistently kicking off manual scans like I'm doing now. One idea I have is to add a new library source located on SSD to at least speed up the scans, however I only see the option to manually kick off scans for the entire library not just one source. Additionally I don't see an option to schedule scans for a single source. Unfortunately, real-time monitoring of the filesystem doesn't work from what I can see in forum posts. Does anyone have any ideas how I might go about more frequently updating the library without having to manually kick it off or set a scan to automatically happen really frequently?
  4. Whenever we search a title by it's name, I noticed that only the translated name (outside-US cenarios) is found within search, not the original name. As I keep metadata of the original language and my country's too inside media (audio, subtitles...) , I expected to be able to search for a media by both of those, also. Example: Filename : Back to the future Title: De volta para o futuro Today I can only search by words inside "De volta para o futuro", even if the physic filename is in english. Can this be fixed? I don't want to force anyone to search using a specific language if I have info about both. Additionally... I want to remember that issue ( http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/30911-search-bug-with-accented-chars/ ) is opened...hoping that next release will fix this.
  5. In other topic, I guess @@Happy2Play was the one that told that in time of detecting media, info inside square [ ] brackets would be completely ignored by Emby. I went to do some tests and I guess it's not working as it should. Trying to manually identify 3 video concluded in this: - [1985] Back to the Future returned me correct. - [1989] Back to the Future II returned me correct. - [1990] Back to the Future III DIDN'T find anything at all. but after I removed the [1990] it found it normally. So... it's obvious that info inside square brackets aren't being ignored as predicted. Can you take a look at this? To make it really ignored? Additionally, can you "TRIM" the string before sending it to identify ? I've noticed different results when typing "Back to the future III" and " Back to the Future III" (space before name, or after) Thanks!
  6. I've been trying to purge an issue with otherwise inexplicable database errors for the last few days since the last update. I have removed all libraries and isolated the issue to my TV shows. But diagnosing it further is proving troublesome since there is no information on what files were being worked on when the error occurred. 2016-02-20 18:26:13.8343 Error App: Error in Nfo *** Error Report *** Version: 3.0.5871.0 Command line: /usr/lib/emby-server/bin/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe -programdata /var/lib/emby-server -restartpath /usr/lib/emby-server/restart.sh Operating system: Unix 3.13.0.27 Processor count: 8 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True Program data path: /var/lib/emby-server Mono: 4.0.3 (Stable 4.0.3.20/d6946b4 Thu Aug 13 12:46:26 UTC 2015) Application Path: /usr/lib/emby-server/bin/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe Text node cannot appear in this state. Connect Emby Servers

It would be awesome that there was a option to connect servers together. Something like a server side sharing. So this way your server stays central and your server connect to an other server to get the content from, or even better the server share a token to directly link the content. That is what I am missing. Other then that it works splendid.

    Mixed Folder Conundrum

Hi Guys, I am struggling a little with something. Previously I had a catch-all folder for documentaries (movies & series). I would just have a "movie Title (year)" folder for each movie and a "series title" folder for each series in said folder. Suddenly it would not add series anymore, nor recognize episodes in my auto organize folder. This was mixed content. So I tried emptying the folder, removing it from the library, re-scanning and adding all the stuff again. Once again all of the movie-type documentaries were recognised and scraped automatically, but the series were not. In order to remedy this, I have created two separate folders: Documovies/ Movie 1 (year)/ Movie 2 (year)/ etc.. TV Documentaries/ TEDTalks/ BBC Documentaries/ etc.. Instead of using mixed content, I now have each set to the relevant type (Movies/TV). However this is really messing with my OCD as I now have two sections in the emby web frontend containing documentaries. SO, can I group these somehow and only display "Documentaries" as the "folder"? Also another issue I have is that with BBC Documentaries, for instance, I only have a few interesting episodes but the display shows every single season and every single episode. That equates to thousands of episodes clogging up my front-end when I maybe only have 10 or so. For my normal TV series I have set it to show me missing and unaired episodes so that I can keep track of such, but it really isn't necessary for the documentaries. Is there any way that I can enable/disable this at the folder level?
  9. Hi! Let me begin by saying I'm apparently not the most skilled server admin! I got my HTPC running smoothly but when something goes wrong, I usually don't know what I'm doing, so pardon my lack of knowledge, if any. As I said, my setup is running smoothly: I'm running Emby Server 3.0.5821.0 and playback is only done locally in Emby Theater on this HTPC hooked up to my TV. The only problem I have is that my secondary hard drive containing my movies and TV shows directories is constantly spinning (and of course making noise). I've run Sysinternals' Process Explorer to see what processes were using my D: drive and shut down every one except Emby Server: I'm guessing my hard drive should go idle at some point when there's no playback happening (no library scanning either) but from what I understand, it's as if the server was constantly accessing the TV show and Movies directories... Is this normal? Also, is this enough info to target the problem? Please let me know if I should run more tests. I've attached my latest log to this post. Thanks for any help! log_09022016.txt
  10. Well done! I think it's great when people fork the code for side projects

    Question About refresh

Hi, I have noticed a few metadata issues within my collection, 1 - Music album artists, I only had one backdrop per artist, I found the setting to increase this and refreshed an artist, hey presto tons of artist backdrops. 2 - Films, missing cast images, once again hit refresh and the images return, and loads of other cast. 3 - TV Series, as above really. the main question here is how to do a full system refresh. I went into metadata manager and refreshed the whole folder doing a full refresh including replace art. This worked good initially but then just stopped, and has seemed to miss a few artists too. Should I leave the browser open until the spinning dingus disappears? The other thing I am getting is this This happens randomly through my music collection, and a refresh doesn't sort it. Any Ideas? Cheers
  12. Well hello guys! long time no see me.. hehe. I've been away form the community and mb /face palm, correction emby! my god things sure have changed. I got a bug yesterday and decided to buy the win 8-10 app and setup emby again. And from that moment forward I've been biting my tongue and fighting this thing to no end. I was basically starting from scratch on my setup so I first installed the server, got it somewhat happy then moved on to the app and 4 1/2 hrs later I still couldn't get it to connect to the server. And had arrived at the deshion that it wasn't meant to be. But then I decided to look into the desktop app, grabbed a copy set it up, fumbled around with it some then accidentally figured out how to correctly type in the ip address and it sprang to life. So now I'm thinking it was me the whole time, but that was a bust. no matter what I did it just wont connect to the server, that is running on the same machine as the client. quick rundown of my current setup: windows 10 insiders build 10547 <-- incase it's important both ports emby uses have been opened in/out on both machines router has been port forward <-- wasn't sure if it was needed, but was running out of ideas. the emby helper is fully configured. and providing server link in app, just refuses to actually do anything lots of error logs to reference, here's 2 that stood out. This fist one ended Fatally (which was actually one of the last ones logged), the second one just errored out, which seemed to be the bulk of the logs collected. So to the awesome emby community I went, hope it pans out oh yeah! almost forgot, a large chunk of my battle last night was connecting network drives to he server. Needless to say I still don't have my network drives connected, got frustrated and moved on the next impossible hurdle. short of it, I need help with that part too! I thought I could handle anything this program could dish out, turns out I don't know one single thing about this program anymore, this is a whole new beast and I came unprepared to fight it.
  13. Hello devs, In another thread I suggested creating a "priority ordert" about foreign metadata download. So choosing several in priority order instead of one, in case it doesn't find as the first choice. Besides that, I think I bumped into a bug here. My global settings are set to download metadata as "Portuguese" language and "Brazil" as country. If I just configure in this screen (global), it doesn't matter if I put Portuguese or Portuguese (Brazil). It just doesn't works. How do I know that it should ever work? When I set those same languages in the MOVIE metadata, not globally, it refreshes and downloads just fine my foreign language. Very strange. Can anyone take a look at this? Thanks
  14. On my setup, the aspect ratio of album covers in the Home view of the Web Interface is not correct, it is 16:10 I guess, while it should be squared, since it shows album covers. I'm on 3.0.5786.0. Can anybody confirm this bug?

Codecs on VMWare for Ubuntu Server

This is a strange question for me to ask considering that I work with enterprise servers everyday although they are almost always exclusively RHEL or Windows based (you wouldn't believe how many times I typed "yum install" rather than "apt-get"). In any case, I was sort of forced to abandon native Windows version of Emby Server for Ubuntu Server 15.10 with Emby Server installed due to issues with Emby not staying bound to the specified ports in Windows. What I am trying to figure out is what, if anything, do I need to do to make sure that Emby can natively transcode H.265/HEVC and other content when a device doesn't natively support it which is a rarity. Is there any particular codec packages for Ubuntu Server (and I do mean the server version; I don't need the GUI overhead) to get everything working within VMWare Workstation 12 or is everything packaged up in a neat little bow?
  16. Not entirely sure where this is best placed, so I'll start here. I have Emby Server up and running on a Raspberry Pi 2 (YEAH!!!). The Raspberry Pi is reading a drive on a HOME SERVER that contains all my media. Seems to be working great. Then I have a HTPC running in my theater with Emby for WMC running and looking at the RPi. The library comes up fine, and all the artwork displays beautifully. But when I select a movie, and hit PLAY, nothing happens. It acts like it wants to start, I get a progress bar showing length of movie and the thumbnail, but nothing ever plays. I get no error or anything, just a blank dark screen. The movies play fine in straight WMC without using EMBY, so I'm not sure where it's falling apart. Any ideas welcome! And if this should be in a different area, let me know. Thank You Sean
  17. Hii all Because the update process for the emby server (while it's running as a service) can be a bit annoying, so i made an application with a python script. It works no matter where it's located. You just have to unzip the *.zip file in the attachement. After that, in the unzipped folder run the "emby_update_v2.exe" as administrator. The application can be used with diffrent commandline arguments: /beta - Start normal with updating beta server, while its running as a service /dev - Start normal with updating dev server, while its running as a service /download - Start with downloading the regular version first /beta_download - Start with downloading the beta version first /dev_download - Start with downloading the dev version first /taskkill - Start with killing the process instead of stopping the service /debug - Start into the Debug Mode for debugging the functions. >> without an argument - start normal with updating the regular server, while its running as a service PLEASE NOTE: - The application normaly starts with the ability to stop the service at very first - If you know the service IS NOT running, start the application with one of the three 'download' arguments - If you have the Beta server service running, simply add the /beta argument in the commandline - If you have the Dev server service running, simply add the /dev argument in the commandline - If you have any kind of trouble, start the application with the /debug argument to try and/or debug functions Updater.zip

    Missing Library Items

Hey Guys, Currently experiencing an issue whereby access to my library items have disappeared since rebuilding an EMC client. The Emby Server remained intact, no changes made to network, IP addressing etc. The WebUI dashboard menu is blank where my library once was. All the config is still present in the library config page (albeit missing folder images). I rebuilt 'Documentaries' and 'Stand-Up' to see if that made a difference. Currently, the only way to access media is via MBPlus plugin (which was manually installed), otherwise I get the 'No items' in EMC. Everything is still there, I just have no way of accessing it directly via the menu's. Looking into the client logs, I can see some: (400) Bad Request (500) Internal Server Error Current Server version = 3.0.5801.0 Current EMC version = 3.0.292.0 Logs: Server here Client with no plugins here Client with only MBPlus here Apologies if posted in the wrong section, wasn't sure if Server or EMC issue.
  19. I have problems with metadata for episodes on a couple of shows. Its mostly shows that has a name that is ambiguous with another show or for some other reason got miss matched. I have fixed the metadata for the "root" show but episodes are still identified as if it belongs to whatever the "root" show was identified as before i corrected it. Examples of shows that dont identify episodes correctly are The Flash, Scandal and Homeland. The flash and scandal was first miss matched because I don't use year in my folder names so that was to be expected (My current way of getting the episodes doesn't support that), cant remember what happend to homeland but it was some weird match for that one. Anyway I have fixed those shows via the "Identify" option in emby-web but the episodes are still not getting the correct metadata i have tried to remove all *.nfo files but after a new scan its still the same "wrong" info in them. I'll include some screen-shot of The Flash 2014 where the episodes for season 1 are matched as episodes from The Flash 1990? Is there a way to make the episodes metadata correct?
  20. Common sense says that a "server" is usually the PC that is also directly connected to storage, for the fastest access to media etc. Situation: I have EMBY server on an ancient PC (haven't had time to upgrade this yet), running Win 7, so it runs EMBY and for playing media I use Emby for Kodi on this and other computers on the network. (The ancient PC is connected to my TV). Now I have one unused laptop that has better hardware (i5, 4GB etc.). If I move the EMBY server to the laptop, in how-far does it affect speed/delivery of content? All the content is "directly played" on various clients in the network with UNC network paths set-up. Say, one movie comes from //PC1/Movies/Movie1.mkv If I understand this right, this "direct play" means than ANY client has direct access to the file on the network much as if the client would play the file directly over the network. According to this logic it should not matter even if I move EMBY to a laptop, even if the laptop would only be wirelessly and slower connected to the network - since it wouldn't ultimately affect how media is delivered to whatever client? Am I correct there? The only "downside" here would be when EMBY is cataloging its database it would be a little slower since now EMBY (on the laptop) would have to access some storage media over the network, eg. as opposed to on the old computer where the HDs are directly connected? (For those who think why not use the newer laptop as EMBY server *and* KODI for playing on my TV, the laptop's GPU is worse than the one in the ancient PC.) My idea is to use the ancient PC as KODI playback machine only and (see above) move EMBY to another computer on the network to free up some resources. Any thoughts? Thanks
  21. Hi, I can't stop praising the Emby community for the excellent work they are doing. THe more I use Emby the more I like it. I'm hoping that through my testing and feedback i can contribute that little to the community. I have a problem which is think is a missing functionality rather than an issue itself. The problem occurs both with my Android app and with the web client. Basically, I set an access schedule for my son so that he doesn't watch movie when he is suppose to be sleeping. All fine to this point. THen, when i log on with the son's account and I am trying to do this outside the planned access schedule, I don't get any error message "You are not allowed to use Emby outside these hours ....". In the webclient it just keeps looping to the login window while the android app just hangs and keeps you waiting while nothing happens. In some instances, the Android app crashed and every other time i had to kill it. Surely this is because the server is not passing the right message to the app, something like "dear server, please let me in" and the server doesn't reply "oh, sorry you can't" so the app keeps waiting for an answer? Would this seems a correct interpretation. The logs are clearly recording what is happening (see below). Wouldn't it be sensible to get the server to post a reply to the app trying to access so that the person doesn't wait to infinity for something to happen? 22. Carlos
  23. Version 3.0.5482.4 I removed devices from my server on version 4000, and no devices would get re-populated in the list. I see the devices listed in the security area with an api key. I just dont see them repopulating in the devices area of the server, which limits me to not being able to assign users to certain devices. Is there any server file I could delete to get the devices to start filling in again.

    Can't add media library folders

I just installed Emby on a fresh copy of Ubuntu 12.04, did the wizard and everything. But i can't add any folders to the media library. I've tired different folders in the system, even a remote samba share but it still errors. 25. Hi, I am pulling my hair out trying to get emby to even work any more. It was working fairly well until the past couple of updates then everything just fell apart. I have the memory leak that others have mentioned with emby tv. when I try to launch emby most of the time it will just clock for several minutes. if, and that's a big if I get into emby, tv shows and movies load very slowly. I select tv shows for example usually it will be a blank screen and tv shows don't show up, same thing with moves. and it takes about 30 seconds to 1 minute or more to load. when I select a show I have to sit another minute or more. most of the time I get a wait or close dialog box and no matter what I choose, I have to wait and just end up ending task. this all happened within the last few updates. as new versions came out it gradually got worse and worse. the only pattern I notice on all my media center logs is 5715,Error,,Error getting response from http://server which to me would indicate hardware issue, but I checked everything and nothing is wrong. I/o speed for the array is strong, the server never goes to sleep and neither do the harddrives. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the server and clients serveral times. no changes. Any ideas? I am really at a loss at this point. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! MBClassic-9112015683b39771f2342aca11262ea757f80c4.log
