English: Hello I suggest expanding the security: - user blocking function, 5 items (to be determined by the administrator) of consecutive incorrect logins - blocking the IP address (DDOS, Firewall), if for a period of 15 minutes (to be determined by the administrator) there will be an incorrect authorization (amount to be determined by the administrator) for 1 hour (to be determined by the administrator). IP addresses should be visible in the menu, it should be easy to clean the individual or all addresses, there should be a schedule for cleaning these addresses set by the administrator (for example: always Monday 1:00). New Server Build Sanity Check

So, I've been running my Emby server off of an old HP Pavilion for far too long now and I want to build something that'll allow multiple streams (preferably up to 10), excellent transcoding, and be able to handle all the peripheral tasks that come with adding content to the server. Downside, I don't have the funds to build the best thing ever. After perusing this forum for tips and suggestions, I've narrowed things down to the following build, and wanted to get some feedback and see if this will at least be close to getting what I want: CPU: Intel Core i5-8500 Desktop Processor Mobo: GIGABYTE Z370P D3 Case: Corsair Carbide Series 200R Compact ATX Case PSU: Corsair CX Series 550 Watt 80 Plus Bronze Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper RR-212E-20PK-R2 LED CPU Cooler with PWM Fan RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB Kit (2x4GB) SSD for OS, etc.: SanDisk SSD PLUS 240GB OS: Windows 10 Home Edition What am I skimping on? What am I spending too much money on? I have also never built a computer before so I really have no idea what I'm doing. Any advice at all would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Subtitles are not downloaded

Hi all, I am new with emby server and may be I am doing something wrong and dumb but currently I am not able to make my emby server installation to download subtitles from Opensubtitles.org My server is (Taken from emby log): Operating system: Unix 4.14.15.64 64-Bit OS: False 64-Bit Process: False User Interactive: True Processor count: 4 Program data path: /var/lib/emby Application directory: /opt/emby-server/system Application version: 3.2.70.9 This is armhf version running on AARCH64 based SoC. My subtitles config looks like this: When I add files to the library, I am able to see requests to subdb in logs like the following one: 2018-02-03 10:47:09.804 Info HttpClient: GET http://api.thesubdb.com/?action=search&hash=C28F1D11BDF12742BCF25572428233F7 but no requests to opensubtitles.org in logs (even with debug logging enabled) Also adding username and password to the config didn't help. Media Info for the file which is used for example: Same results with 3.2.70.6 and 3.2.70.0 versions. Thanks in advance. P.S. I tried to provide as much info as possible but if you need any other log/data, I will provide them ASAP

    HttpServer: Error in ProcessAccept

Hello I am having a issue where https connections will get a timed out or a connection reset when connecting to emby from browsers, apps or anything trying to connect using https. A http connection does work and I have no issues. This issue arises after a few hours of starting the server and my temporary solution is restarting the server each time this happens. However if I don't restart the server then eventually it will work with https but the time it comes back seems random taking hours to a days. Attached is my most recent server log and I went through it and see that I get some errors like this below. Could this be a issue with my ssl certificate? 2018-03-23 07:29:18.228 Error HttpServer: Error in ProcessAccept *** Error Report *** Version: 3.3.1.0 Command line: Server stuck on indexing

Hi there, i admit to be a new user and i signed up for the premiere monthly package to try emby up again my plex server. I have a large library and maybe this is related to my problem. That said my server has been stuck on indexing at 71.7 percent for two weeks now. I have restarted the app, the server many times but still gets stuck in the same spot. Where I am not familiar with emby i was wondering if perhaps i have something setup wrong. i wanted to attach the logs but when i click to download the lastest log it says its 4.3gb is that possible? Anyways i would be very interested to see it functioning properly. As it stands when i use the player i can see shows in the list no artwork and nothing will play Im assuming its because the server is hung on something. I will happy provide the logs if someone can explain to this newb of emby how to correctly download the logs. emby is running on a osx dedicated server with the latest software and latest production version of emby. Thanks in advance

    Casting to multiple devices

Currently I’m trying to get a media server set up to play corporate messages and videos around the plant. I’ve managed to set up Emby a powerful Intel Xeon PC, and I’ve been able to cast a video file to one of our Panasonic smart tvs. However, this is not exactly the ideal situation. Ideally I want to be able to play a single folder, with multiple video files inside, and play it on a constant loop to the 8 TVs around the plant. Is this possible in Emby? Currently I’m only able to cast one file at a time, to one TV at a time...

Emby Premium für andere Nutzer des Servers

Hi Leute. @@ebr Vielen Dank!
  11. For the last few months, when i've started emby, which hasn't been often, as i've been otherwise busy, it's worked ok, but then chrome crashes. This then leaves chrome crashing immediately on startup... forever... even without emby running. The only way i've found to fix it is to delete the Default folder in my user profile's Chrome - User Data folder. This then means chrome starts from scratch, asking me to login again and sync everything. Not the end of the world, but a mighty pain in the arse. Since the first occurrence, i've clean-installed my laptop a few times. Chrome would have updated itself continuously. So i don't think it's a windows problem, and possibly not a chrome problem... unless there's something in my synced profile. If i run firefox, i can then access emby just fine, and it works as usual. Any ideas?

    Server Update Issue

Hi Trying to update server from 3.2.50 to 3.2.70 and I get the following error message when the installer tries to download the new version. I tried the old installer I had from the last update and I tried downloading the latest installer but nothing seems to work. Any ideas? Thanks, Martin

  14. Hi all, I am considering a new server build. Unfortunately, someone has had bad experiences with the threadripper. Who has good Ryzen 1700x builds? I am considering this over Intel, but have no experience with AMD since the first Athlon days. (shortly after electricity was invented, it feels). I'd really like to hear people's recent experiences with AMD.
  15. I'm on Server Version 3.2.70.0 on Windows 10. I don't know when this changed, but previously (I believe) Emby Server would recognize a VIDEO_TS folder in the Extras folder in the following directory format: Dark City (1998)\Extras\Gallery and Metropolis Comparison (Text)\VIDEO_TS And then Emby Theater would present that item "Gallery and Metropolis Comparison (Text)" in the lists of Extras, where it could be played via the External Player I have configured (in my case, VLC). The reason I do this is that sometimes there are extras such as image galleries and text content which are only available via the DVD menu. So I copy only the files within the original VIDEO_TS folder which are necessary for the DVD-menu-only extras I want and put those in a folder like the above example. Currently these folders are no longer being recognized and displayed for Movies, though it does still work for folders with the TV "Special" season folder. It is also possible that I am not remembering correctly and that it actually never worked for Movie the Extras folder and has only ever worked for TV Special folder. I don't think that is the case though -- I think it worked for the Movie Extras folder at some point in the past, as I normally test these things when I am converting a movie. I understand this is an edge case which might not effect many users, but figured it wouldn't hurt to mention it in case it is something that can be easily fixed. If folks have suggestions for how to achieve my above goals using a different route I'm open to that. Thanks!
  16. Android TV -- this bug report comes from a discussion started here. Scenario: - I have the 30min auto-logoff feature enabled (to allow my TV to go to sleep if content was left paused) - I'm watching a movie/TV show and have it paused near the end (say 96%) - When the auto-logoff feature kicks in it will stop playback which will trigger Emby server to erroneously mark it as watched The only available solution to this bug currently is to disable Emby from marking content as watched unless it's played through to 100% (which is undesirable). Proposed Solution: Whenever playback is stopped, the event sent to the server should indicate if playback was stopped by the user or not (ie "user initiated"). If this value/flag is missing the server can treat the event as user-initiated (so that this feature can slowly be rolled out to all clients). When the server receives a playback stopped event that was NOT user-initiated (such as due to the auto-logoff feature, or an idle timeout feature), the server will save the progress exactly as reported and not make any changes to the watched status (ie the server will only apply the automatic mark-as-watched feature when playback was stopped by the user).

    PHP functionality?

Hello! I wan't to add some features integrating my other servers in Emby but it seems like the webserver powering Emby is not able to interpret any PHP code. Is it possible that I can tweak the Emby server a bit so it's able to interpreter PHP? Regards, Louis Mylle
  18. Hi folks, I'll attach here a batch of recent log files, zipped up in addition to the log snippets I've pasted in. These are from my HTPC that runs the Emby server plus Emby for WMC. On several occasions over the past few months I've seen the following series of events: 1. My HTPC restarts for some reason (Windows updates, whatever, nothing pathological). 2. Upon restarting, Emby auto-starts as it should (it is set to run when the windows starts) 3. Emby detects an update to the server is available, and apparently downloads and installs it. I'm usually not paying attention at this point. 4. Sometime later, I fire up Emby for WMC and instead of connecting to the server it gives me the code to connect... and then I notice the server isn't running. 5. I'll manually run the server via the start menu shortcut, and all is fine. Yesterday this happened and I've captured the logs. It started off a bit odd because we lost power due to weather (a rare situation here). But other than forcing a reboot, which is the first step in the chain of events leading to the problem, the weather related shutdown wasn't a "problem." To help deconvolute the logs, here is the chain of events. 1. At about 3 pm yesterday, while I was watching a movie, the power went out. The HTPC was on a battery backup, so it stayed on. The TV went off instantly of course, and I lost network in the house quickly because my UPS upstairs that powers my network apparently has dead lead batteries. Gotta order new ones. 2. I pressed stop on the keyboard within a minute or two I think. Presumably this stopped playback; not sure since I had no monitor :-) The log shows lots of error reports trying to talk to devices, as these devices were now off... 3. About an hour later (a bit after 4pm), the HTPC shut itself down safely based on declining power in the UPS. 4. Power was restored at about ~6:15pm. I rebooted the computer; Emby server started normally. See server-63595217865.txt 5. Apparently Emby found an update. A new log was created as follows see server-63595218200.txt: 2016-04-02 18:23:20.3336 Info Main: Emby Command line: C:\Users\HomeTheater\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\System\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe Operating system: Microsoft Windows NT 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Processor count: 2 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True Program data path: C:\Users\HomeTheater\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server Application Path: C:\Users\HomeTheater\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\System\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe 2016-04-02 18:23:20.3596 Info Main: An update is available from C:\Users\HomeTheater\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\updates\MBServer.zip 2016-04-02 18:23:20.3596 Info Main: Copying updater to temporary location 2016-04-02 18:23:20.3976 Info Main: Copying updater dependencies to temporary location 2016-04-02 18:23:20.4687 Info Main: Starting updater process. 2016-04-02 18:23:20.4687 Info Main: Args: product=server archive="C:\Users\HomeTheater\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\updates\MBServer.zip" caller=1288 pismo=false version=3.0.5923 service= installpath="C:\Users\HomeTheater\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server" startpath="C:\Users\HomeTheater\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\System\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe" systempath="C:\Users\HomeTheater\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\System" 2016-04-02 18:23:20.5117 Info Main: Exiting to perform application update. 6. Please let me know what I can do to ensure Emby Server always restarts after an update. Note, I'll restate that most of the times I've noticed a failure to restart after update, I've noticed there was a computer reboot shortly before the update. Thank you! Marc copy_of_server_logs.zip

Can't delete Artists from Music Library?

I'm trying to get rid of some Artists who only made appearances on songs by other artists. I removed them from the metadata for the songs they appeared on, and I re-scanned my library after doing that, but these artists still appear in my Artist section. I found them in /var/lib/emby/metadata/artists and I tried deleting them from there too, but that didn't work either. How do I delete these artists?

    Emby time incorrect

I setup what should equal eastern standard time on emby during setup. However, the time displayed on the server is about 4 hours earlier than it should be. Where in the hell do I change the time to correct it. It would be nice if when it shows me the movie would be over at 5pm it is showing the correct time. HELP!!!!
  22. Per another thread ( https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/38173-watched-status-resets-with-moves-between-library/&do=findComment&comment=484965 ) video files that do not have an external ID (eg, TheMovieDB, IMDB) associated with them in Emby will lose their Watched status if you ever move the files to another location. This is because currently the only way to determine the uniqueness of the file (if it does not have an external ID) is to use the full path to the file. Now, most items will have an external ID, but the big exception can be Movie Extras and TV Specials. Some TV Specials will have an external ID. And some Movie Extras do exist in the IMDB and TheMovieDB, but currently there is no metadata lookup available for Movie Extras ( https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/43845-emby-server-emby-theater-support-nfo-files-and-automatic-metadata-lookup-for-extras/ ). So if a Movie and it's associated Extras is ever moved, the Watched status for those extras will be lost. This feature request is for there to be some better method of identifying files such that those files which do not have external ID's can still be correctly identified (and thus Watched status preserved) even if they are moved. I am most interested in this for Movie Extras. I'm not sure what the best route for achieving this would be, but wanted to put the idea out here for consideration. Thanks!
  23. Hi all, Can different users have their own recorded tv folders on the Emby server? For me, it seems to end up in one big pool of recordings. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, or it's not implemented (for the with list)? Regards, Jennice
  24. I have a very consistent late-recording issue that I believe started with the latest release of the server for windows 10; news recordings consistently start recording approximately 2 minutes into the program; as a work around I've added a two minute pad and that has worked to start recordings at the assigned time..not sure if this is occurring with movies but my guess is that it is.. Don't know what logs to attach so please advise what else I can supply for diagnostics..My rig: HDHomeRun Prime, Win 10 Intel NUC for server recording to local SSD USB 3.0 device; Apple routers and ethernet connections thru out
  25. Hi all! First of all, let me just say, I love Emby. As soon as I switched from Plex, I fell in love. Not just with the Kodi integration, but everything about the server and controls seem better for me. Seriously, awesome work to the devs and everyone involved. I went premium as soon as I could and recently just changed from a monthly to a yearly subscription. Which is why this next part is so hard... when I read the news about Plex getting a server app for Nvidia Shield TV, I was excited and disappointed. Excited because this could mean I can finally turn off my PC and only wake it for things like games. But I was disappointed that the news said Plex and not Emby. I really don't want to move back to Plex. I'm definitely going to give it some time to see how the server even works out. And regardless, I've still got 10-11 months on my year at Emby left. So it got me wondering if something like this is in the works, on the radar, or even possible with Emby. I don't know how closely Plex had to work with Nvidia to get this to work and I don't know if there is any kind of exclusivity deal with them. I mean, after all, Plex comes preloaded on the Shield TV. So I just thought I'd start a discussion to see if this is possible or planned, if anyone is interested/cares, or basically any of your feelings on this matter. Also, I apologize if this isn't the best place to post this. It's meant to be a discussion and not really a request for help or support. Also, I tried searching and didn't find anyone mention anything like this (but my search skills are often under par). Anyway... discuss?
