Hello, searching for music artists only leads to very uncomfortable results. Every "feature" ends up in a new artists. For example: I search for Eminem and get "Eminem", "Eminem, The Game", "Eminem feat. Little Wayne" and so on. To avoid this I would like to have something to "separate" Artists. It can be a comma, & or something else. For example with comma: "Eminem, 2Pac, The Game" would be identified as three different artists, instead of one.

Duplicate Swipe gestures during music playback on mobile clients
Eradev posted a topic in Feature Requests
Is it possible to add support for swipe gestures during music playback on mobile clients? Simple stuff like "previous/next song". Would be nice if it could be customized, but I don't mind either way. -
Look I understand there are more important things to worry about for awhile and this sort of thing isn't super important. And It's not like I can't use the actual apps either but it sure would be nice to if you guys could work out a deal with apple and/or spotify to integrate. I 'll bet the Plex users who hate that dumb music service they added would love to see this as it has been requested multiple times. Of course Plex is probably being paid to add it. I personally will never use anything other than spotify or youtube to listen to my music, not some site I had never heard about previous to it landing on Plex.

There are a couple of artists that do not show their MB data. Why can that be? For most artists with Info this works perfectly.. Thanks!

Back in 2018 I had a thread that showed an annoying feature that was added. It's still the same today. I'd really like to be able to either select to display only #A-Z, or have it scrollable and easier to read/click. Plus it seems to work differently from one page to another (Albums/Album Arists and Artists).
-
I've seen this option on other players, and it has come in handy many times. It's for when you're listening to an album / playlist, and you decide you're done for now, but you want the current song to finish. Sorry if this has been suggested before. I searched, I swear.

Congrats for the very good useful feature. Can we expect it to be implemented on the album display?

I have had a Music Videos library for a while and I am now adding in my Music as a separate library. I seem to remember from years ago that Music Videos would show up on the Artist's page if the Artist was entered into the Music Video's metadata, but this doesn't appear to be happening. For instance, I have a music video that has metadata Artist of Ariana Grande. I have an album of music with metadata Artist of Ariana Grande. Clicking on the artist's name in the Music Videos library takes you to the Artist's page where the album is visible, but the music videos do not show up there.

Hello, First thank you for the great work done in Emby. I wrote this post about a problem I have when I cast music to my Naim Unit Atom amplifier in the WebUI. If I play an album there is a few problems : No play bottom bar appea Only the first track is played When I click on the cast button on the upper right, and select "Control", in the new screen nothing appear (only the main controls) I can't control the volume I attach the log file with DLNA Debug info check in server parameters (server restarted), but there is nothing relevant I think (a UPnPError with Transition not available only), do I check the wrong file ? Note that DLNA works fine in WebUI for an another system of the same brand (a Naim MuSo). And note that problem is the same with DLNA in the Android App but Goggle Cast work. Notice that for all my DLNA hardware, volume control have a lot of lag and is very difficult to control with the slider not accurate. But it's an another problem... I have by a lifetime subscription because I love Emby, I think the team make a great job and I want to support the new developments. DLNA control is for me, one of the most import feature and I hope I can help to solve the problem with my hardware. Thank you in advance for your help. PS: I'm an confirmed C# developer so you can use advanced technical language if it's help PS2: Sorry for my english... embyserver.txt

It's been some time I started tagging music artists. Got excellent results from tagging musicians to their instruments. Not only can I get to, let's say, all flugelhorn players on library but also, when viewing one flugelhorn player, Emby will provide flugelhorn players on the section "More from this..." This is a great feature and thanks to Emby team for providing it. I recently started tagging some music albums. I have just a few album tags on special themes or series (e.g. "Columbia Jazz Masterpieces" or "Rudy Van Gelder remasters") Today I accidentally found out Emby will return album tags as search results (web app). Did some tests, also in web app, and it seem not to return artist tags as search results. Questions are: 1) Should Emby return artist tags as search results or is this a known restriction? 2) Would it be possible to have a "cover image" or even a "background image" to a tag to be shown nicely on search results? 3) Would there be a "all tags" section?

I was trying to clean up the album artist folders for my collection. I noticed that some artists (Peter Gabriel; The Go-Betweens; The Gas; The Hollies; Puffy) have two artist entries that contain the same albums. There are also two folders (OST-Original Soundtrack & Various Artist Corp.) that don't seem to correspond to any music in my collection. Is there a way to deleted the duplicate and empty artist listings? I tried deleting from C:\Users\hp\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\ImagesByName\artists but that didn't work and in some cases I couldn't even find a folder for my artist. For instance, in my album artist folder I have two entries for Puffy but in the above folder there aren't any entries for Puffy at all--just one for PuffyAmiYumi, which is another name for the same duo but not one I'm using in my artist folder. There is also no entry at all for Peter Gabriel. There are some artists that have two entries in the roaming folder (77's & 77s) but only one in the album artist folder. Is there a way for me to clean up my album artist folder?

hey Guys, Would it be possible to set a max limit on the bitrate for streaming music as normally most music files are max of 320kbps i have mine at the studio max of 1715kbps on each music file. i know you have a limiter for streaming on video but would it be possible to have a separate one for music streaming also, so when your playing your music in the car you dont have to worry about it freezing every few seconds. could be something like music streaming limiter - remote access remote access limit for streaming 96kbps 128kbps 196kbps 256kbps 320kbps Custom setting _________

Long-time Plex user - have been messing around with Emby for my music as Plex has some gaps in how one can create a list on the fly. Emby is pretty easy and useful...except it lacks the ability clear the current queue. The only way to do this is to kill the app. FYI, I'm talking about using Android client. Haven't tried it on any other Emby clients. Thank you.

When you view an artist page, you see "Albums" and "More like this" There should also be a "Songs/Tracks" sections. There should be a few of the most played tracks(most played on server, not by user) with the option to click and view all artist tracks.

Hello, I'm new to emby and even newer to the emby community. Here goes my first post, hope it doesn't suck. The "recently played" music list is great, but it is missing s few key features. There is no way (that I couldn't find) to play the list of frequently played songs. Am I missing something or is it just not there? Also, a song that was not played (skipped immediately) is considered as "played". This doesn't make much sense. When adding a video library you have the "Min resume percentage" option. This does not exist when adding a music library. In addition to that, it would be nice to increase the "frequently played" list to more tracks. It would also be epic to be able to create a list of frequently played track yearly/monthly. I doubt the system collects this kind of data. Thanks for reading.

Hi, I have last Emby client installed from USB on Model: Samsung UE48JS8500 Firmware: 1550 Emby client: 1.0.78 When I play song in flac format I see: Playback Error: No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details. I have Emby server on Rpi4 (Dietpi). Flac work on Kodi connected to my server, android smartphone and laptops with Chrome. Does Samsung Tizen support Flac on Emby? Regards Przemek

This may sound a little nit-picky, but hey, if we can't be nit-picky when we're trapped at home with extra free time, when can we ? I was just curious if there might be a solution already available that I'm not seeing. When I browse to my Emby Music Library, the "recently played" tracks appear individually. I suppose these days nobody listens to full albums anymore, so I might be identifying a problem that doesn't exist for many folks.... but I'd find this area a heckuva lot more useful if it grouped tracks from the same album together. Is there a setting for that somewhere? Maybe what I'm looking for is something more like 'recently played artists' or 'recently played albums'. Does that make sense? Thanks!

Seems like this gets brought up a lot and there doesn't seem to be a step by step guide, so I'm asking again. I just set up Emby to handle music files only (any other setup tips would be welcome) and had it sort through the library, it's been a few days since then and it's still not displaying embedded artwork, so I don't know if I missed a setting somewhere or not. So to go through the motions, here's my step by step. I've manually combed through all of my music with MusicBrainz Picard and mp3tag. I have correct tags for everything, and most importantly, correct album cover art. On a different thread I read that there might be some confusion between id3v1 and id3v2.3, but looking in the extended tags in mp3tag, there's nothing with duplicates that should cause any confusion. I'm pretty sure I have Picard set to erase all the metadata and only rewrite it with new values, so v1 and v2.3 should be identical for everything, and was for the few albums I checked. Installed Emby, a crucial step. When setting up the music library, I turned off all metadata providers. The library settings, with the advanced options, only has real time monitoring enabled. Everything else is unticked, with "Automatically refresh metadata from the internet" set to Never. Library scan. No or incorrect artwork shown. For having the metadata and all providers disabled, it's still finding a few album covers, which are noticeably different from the embedded files, and mp3tag only shows the single image I've put in. Did I miss something? There's no obvious tick box in the library setup saying "Read embedded metadata"

Hi, I'm often playing shuffled libs quietly & continuously in the background while working - and annoyingly it stops every now & then. I usually run a browser ( eg chromium / chrome ) as emby client - the server is running in docker. Today I was annoyed enough to take a closer look On this occasion I found it to be reproducible for all songs in an album (all flac). Browsewr UI pops up a window with 'Playback error - No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again or contact your system administrator for details.' Browser console shows 204 & 206 Status with msg: playing url: http://192.168.43.9:8096/emby/Audio/42240/universal?UserId=53fdc847e3b04f3b8281b03619eb463d&DeviceId=TW96aWxsYS81LjAgKFgxMTsgTGludXggeDg2XzY0KSBBcHBsZVdlYktpdC81MzcuMzYgKEtIVE1MLCBsaWtlIEdlY2tvKSBVYnVudHUgQ2hyb21pdW0vODAuMC4zOTg3LjE2MyBDaHJvbWUvODAuMC4zOTg3LjE2MyBTYWZhcmkvNTM3LjM2fDE1ODc2MjgyNTk3MjM1&MaxStreamingBitrate=140000000&Container=opus%2Cmp3%7Cmp3%2Cmp2%2Cmp3%7Cmp2%2Caac%7Caac%2Cm4a%7Caac%2Cmp4%7Caac%2Cflac%2Cwebma%2Cwebm%2Cwav%7CPCM_S16LE%2Cogg&TranscodingContainer=aac&TranscodingProtocol=hls&AudioCodec=aac&api_key=0827f942e5f643549b913694eaf345a4&PlaySessionId=1588098545010&StartTimeTicks=0&EnableRedirection=true playbackmanager.js?v=4.4.2.0:1 Active player: {"name":"Web Audio Player","id":"htmlaudioplayer","playerName":"Web Audio Player","playableMediaTypes":["Audio"],"isLocalPlayer":true,"supportedCommands":["GoHome","GoToSettings","VolumeUp","VolumeDown","Mute","Unmute","ToggleMute","SetVolume","SetAudioStreamIndex","SetSubtitleStreamIndex","SetMaxStreamingBitrate","DisplayContent","GoToSearch","DisplayMessage","SetRepeatMode","PlayMediaSource","PlayTrailers","ToggleFullscreen"]} playbackmanager.js?v=4.4.2.0:1 playbackmanager playback error type: mediadecodeerror I believe this corresponds to the following in the server logs: 2020-04-28 20:30:41.306 Info MediaInfoService: User policy for Fred. Using metaflac I saw the file contains 4 blocks: Block#0 STREAMINFO Block#1 PICTURE Block#2 VORBIS_COMMENT Block#3 PADDING Trying various combinations of removing meta data, I found that deletion of the image fixes the issue: metaflac --remove --block-number=1 Test.flac That removes the block without the --dont-use-padding option - ie the image space is padded and the file is the same size before & after the command. I attach Test.flac before block removal. Is this likely a browser issue or something that can be handled in emby? cheers, ff Test.flac.gz embyserver.txt.gz

Hi, I'm using the Emby Theater for Windows. I love it. Only gripe is regarding the ability to Pause Music. Videos work perfectly, using a keyboard if I press Play/Pause then the movie pauses, and starts playing again. When I'm playing music if I press Play/Pause then it restarts playing the current song and deletes all others from the queue. If I use the mouse to hit the pause button then it works as expected. Could you plesae make a modification to make the Play/Pause in Music function the same as with Videos? I'm hoping to introduce Emby to our customer base and this is the main flaw. Thanks, Steve

I've been looking into the "More of this" shown on music artists' page. It seems the list is composed by artists from same genres. I wonder if a real improvement would be if they were a selection from the ones who actually took part on tracks or albuns from the artist being shown. That would be a very nice improvement to show real related music artists.

Hello, it would be great to have the option of adding Remix-Artists like Beatport handels this. Then it would be possible to list the Remixes of Artists under the artists page and not only the originals. Best regards, Phil

In terms of the music section, I have a couple of ideas for Suggestions Latest Music - Can we have this open in it's own page so instead of just scrolling left and right it will act like favourite songs and open up it's own page so we can see more of what's added in terms of latest music. I add a ton of albums often and there is only so many you can see when scrolling right before it cuts off. Recently Played - Just like the favourite songs it's own page i can view a lot more recently played and go back further than just scrolling left and right Frequently played - You guessed it, it's own page so i can see a lot more frequently played music Favourite albums - This would be great to see my top 20/40/50/100 albums that i go to often so i don't have to go searching when it doesn't show up in frequently or recently played. ----------- Other ideas Random Album - A way you can ask Emby to pick a random album out of your huge collection and play it for you, would work well for me having thousands of album some i don't often play so would be nice to just let Emby decide an album for me.

I listen to a lot of electronic/dance music, and there's a lot of cases where multiple musicians may collaborate on a song. Likewise I have purchased a number of compilation albums where a specific musician may only contribute one or two songs out of a dozen or more. I'd like to be able to view all the songs I have in my library that were made by/involved a specific artist. However, if I go to an artist page, I only get a list of albums that they were involved in, even though 90% of the songs in some of the albums have nothing to do with them. Would it be possible to add a view somewhere (such as on the artist info page) that will allow showing all the songs in a library made by that specific artist?
