About EMBY's method of adapting to non-square music album cover.
LINXYican posted a topic in Feature Requests
Can it adapt to the non-square album cover by filling a solid color background instead of directly stretching it. The look and feel of directly stretching the album cover is very ugly. -
Hi, Just wondering if you guys can point me in the right direction. I'm just in the middle of updating/cataloguing my Music Video collection with numerous separate video clips, music concerts, documentaries and general music related movies. I've read through the wiki on file naming and a few other posts relating to the topic but can't seemed to go in a direction. Currently I have a few folders: Movies Movies (music) - general music related movies Music - filled with MP3, FLAC etc Music Videos - Split by artist/title or artist/clips if general clips TV - TV series/doco's etc So all of the general music related movies are in the Movies (Music) folder (such as Spinal Tap, Still Crazy, School of rock etc) they're all named as per moviesand are set to movies in emby. The Music Video folder (and it's set as music video on emby server) has a mixture of docos, concerts and random clips (are clips). The docos/concerts are named as per movies, the clips are chucked in a seperate folder called clips and named as per the wiki - artist-clips/artist-song name.ext. As emby doesn't have the support yet for music videos, I'd like to find out whether I should split the clips and docos/concerts into a separate folders/categories and set clips to music video and the rest to movies. Most movies databases have the info and display correctly. With music videos you have to manually set the database number, update, generally make an image as the Db don't always have them. Which if it's a music clip, the Db won't have the info anyway, only for the doco's etc. I'm not too sure whether I should just stick to the music video category and persevere until it's supported or go the other way and make all the docos/concerts as movies and just leave the random clips either in a music videos folder or just plonk them in the music folder with all the MP3's as some other posts have hinted at. It's not real clear which way embys going either. Any direction would be great - thanks Pete

When listening to music in Emby through android auto, there are occasional instances where the music comes out very muffled/garbled. It almost sounds like I'm listening to music underwater or something. Does anyone know what is causing this issue?

Is there a new order for the albuns to appear on a given album artist page? It used to be cronological descending but with this 3.5 version I could not figure it out.

Google TV (dongle) Doesn't scrobble music to last.fm but ...
Maisy posted a topic in Android TV / Fire TV
Playing music on android phone, tablet, on PC all scrobble to last.fm. Playing music on the Google TV version of Emby, last.fm has now playing notice but permanent scrobbles don't post. This was happening before 4.6 update to the Emby Server and is still the same since 4.6* server updates. All the plays of music are in Activity on the server. All the music is played via my last.fm connected account.- 14 replies

Currently when i play music from my playlists and go to now playing no backdrop is shown. Before 4.6 update i had backdrops. I have re scanned library and made sure i was using a self populated playlist and not a smart playlist (Just in case there is a compatibility bug) . I have checked on PC and on android NVIDIA Shield, both no backdrop. I Have made sure that the artist playing had a backdrop. Hope this is a quick fix and thanks for all the hard work.

My Recently played list is a bit weird. It shows the track name + album at the top, and the track name + artist at the bottom Favorites songs do the same thing, but the two are inversed (Artist at the top, album at the bottom). Yet Frequently played seems to be fine. I've just ran a library scan, and refreshed the metadata. No changes there. Is it the normal behavior??

The newest AndroidTV app will not play discs 2, 3, 4 from music albums. Home -> Music library -> Albums -> AnyMusicAlbumDisc2 -> Play Nothing happens.

Hello, I've just tagged an album which has two different units with similar names. One being ACE and the other ACE+. They are however listed as both ACE+ on Emby. Both of them have a separate musicbrainz ID. (ACE: 16563fb9-c2b5-4ab7-b5b1-7b6592f862a1) (ACE+: ef759905-c2d3-4c96-afb5-50b1f60812f7)

Improvements in the way the app behaves on Android smartphones.
oproprioitalo posted a topic in Android
The application is very good but some adjustments are missing. For example, when you exit the app via the back button, it ends the music playback. If you want to leave the app using the back button, because it comes back on all the screens you have entered, as if it were a browser and not a player. -
Completed Emby Server - Add support for one single folder structure for music
Richard Branches posted a topic in Feature Requests
Currently music files must be organized into Music/Artist/Album/filename structure for the server to organize the music catalog correctly, however, the one single folder (Music/filename) structure is not supported and I hope Emby developers take it into account, I stopped using Emby for my music because I don't really like it, it's a little bothersome to maintain, at least for me. I know there are windows applications to help admin that folder structure but that's not the point. I count on your upvote for Emby developers to take this suggestion into account. Thanks. -
Crashes when going back to Emby home screen while playing any music
Kokosowy posted a topic in Android TV / Fire TV
Hi there, I noticed on my two different Android TV devices that Emby (latest public version) crashes while playing any song and going back to Emby's home screen. Let me know in case you need any specific data/proof how to deliver. K- 11 replies

I have a weird problem with music on the emby android app. It plays fine through my phone speaker but when I try to play through a bluetooth headset I get extremely choppy playback. The only way I get it to work is to disconnect my headset, start the song then connect the headset. I have to do that every time I want to listen to a song. Tried on 2 different headsets. Video works fine over bluetooth.

Hi to everyone, i use this fantastic piece of software at my home and around the world with the android app on my smartphone. Last days i'm trying to organize better my music library but i found a behaviour that i don't know if it is right. When in music album there is a track with a featuring (example Coldplay & Beyonce), although the tag artist album is right (coldplay in this case), i found in the list of album artist also Coldplay & Beyonce. Is it right? I solved what is a little problem for me, removing the featuring artist in the artist tag (adding in brackets in song title). I have also tried, as suggested on an older post, to remove artist, to rescan library and add again artist, but this beahaviour persist. Thanks in advance for your answers

hey so i noticed that in most streaming sites like Spotify, Apple Music, and Google Play Music it has a small "E" icon (see images) by the album name and some songs marking if they are explicit. I was wondering if this feature could be added to Emby. Like either you mark it manually or the metadata scraper automatically adds it. This would help when knowing what songs might not be safe to play at all places and this could be an option when it comes to parental controls. Like if you don't want your kid or a user to listen explicit music then you'd be able to check not to allow explicit music. Anyway is there a way to add this?

Using the Colibri browser, I logged into Emby using the remote (wan) access and am ported to the Theater session with the very nice Theater visual screen however, when I open Music, the list of options I get are: Suggestions Albums Album Artists Artists Playlists Genres Although my session is considered Emby Theater, I'm using Linux Mint 20, Colibri browser. If I use Chomium or Firefox from the same system and remotely log into Emby, I get ported to the same Theater session, however I do see the "Songs" option however I also get the same visual theme (Dark theme) that I get when logging in locally, not the Theater visual I get using Colibri. Server log attached. embyserver.txt

I have noticed that on occasion emby assigns a spurious Album Artist to an Album. In the example below on the home screen, two Albums by "The Academy of Ancient Music" are being flagged as by an ensemble L'Arpegiatta. I have some albums by that ensemble elsewhere in the library. This appears to happen at random across the entire library but only occasionally. Rescanning or removing the album from the library, rescanning and then putting it back into the library does not resolve the issue. Maybe it is a database corruption issue? In which case maybe I can use a database editor to correct manually? From the example below, you can see that I am make sure all my tags are clean so I do not think it is a tagging conflict issue. In the past I have seen FLAC files with sometimes APE and VORBIS tags or ID3 and VORBIS tags so I make sure that all my FLACs have VORBIS tags, and MP3s and DSFs have ID3V2.3 only. Any advice or guidance would be welcome. Looking at one specific Album, in the detail view the same thing. The FFPROBE output shows that the Tag information is clean, for example for Track 2

Love the new format of search results with discreet groups to albums, movies, artists. As a search result set Emby will return all tracks from all albums matching search terms. This means that if I search for "The Cappuccino Songs", Emby will return, as a result, all tracks from this album regardless their title does not match search terms. Of course the result set also includes the album. The tracks, however does not seem to be a correct part of a result set. So if I search for a actor/actress will Emby return all movies where he has been? Or else if I search for a tv series name, should Emby return the episodes as a result? This seems to be wrong. Is it a "concept"??

As AndroidTV app has no means to shuffle play a genre (mentioned here), I am able to do that by using the smartphone/web app to access a genre and, then, shuffle cast it to the AndroidTV app. It really plays nicely but the "Now playing" screen, which is properly shown, is afterwards suspended by the TV screen saver. Music continues to play but I have to press some button on the remote to get back to Emby's beautiful now playing slide show. And then, again, it will be suspended by the TV screen saver. It seems that when playing music which was casted from other apps, AndroidTV app will not inform the TV the screen should be kept. Any ideas?

Two Libraries, one source, containing both Mp3 (audio) and Mp4 (videos) files
MarchandMiel posted a topic in General/Windows
Hi, I use one single source containing both Music and Videos files, organized by Music Styles and then Artists. I configured two libraries : One for music, the other for the videos. I want to browse by Folders, as my hard disk is well organized. If I ask Emby to scan one of them, it scans them both at once. After the scan, I can only see content in the Music library and nothing in the Videos library. I already tried with two different sources, one for music and one for videos, and it works, but I need Emby to scan one single source and produce two different libraries with different media. I also tried using a Mixed Content Source, but no result at all. Is it a bug in Emby ? How can I view videos in the same source ? Thanks, -
I'm trying out Emby for the first time. Is there any way to put beats per minute (BPM) info into Emby for music tracks? It's something that I use a lot in my current setup. Emby looks promising and I hope there's some way to include this info for music.

It would be very useful to have a means to shuffle play a genre on the AndroidTV app. Currently I can only shuffle a genre by casting from the smartphone/web apps to AndroidTV app. On AndroidTV app there is a general "Albums" section very similar to a specific genre section. That general "Albums" presents a play button on the right side. Would it be possible to have the same play button when listing albums for a given genre?

It seems there's a limit to how many albuns AndroidTV app will exibit on a given artist's page on section "Appears on". This does not occur both on web and Android apps. Is it a known limitation or a bug?

I hope one day Emby can play music from downloads if a download exists for that song (especially when I only downloaded the songs from within the playlist and don't have all the songs from that album downloaded). So if i am in the playlist view and the download button is ticked (highlighted blue) because i have downloaded that playlist, I would like it to play from the downloaded file. That way when I drive through a dead-zone my music is not interrupted.
