Started having issues with getting TMDB data. Specifically, Actor Images. I'm attaching my log file which shows time-out errors. Any help would be greatly appreciated! embyserver.txt

i love having a music videos library but i felt that updating the metadata using the metadata manager was tedious, because my mp4 files are already tagged and my folder structure contains all the info that i need in the NFO files, so i wrote this python script to do the tedious parts for me. this script will: * autofill your NFO files (if you follow the folder structure) * change the sort title so that your music videos are sorted in a pretty way * walk thru your music videos and query your a musicbrainzid for each artist (i forget why i did this, i think it was part of a larger project with automatically getting artwork, but i cant remember) - you only need to do it once per artist what you need to do: * match my folder structure * know how to run python script * change line #44 of code to include your email address (musicbrainzngs.set_useragent('emby_music_video_metadata_manager','20200811','youremailhere@youremail.com') * change line #38 of code to point to your music videos (maindir = 'a:\musicvideos') folder structure: ARTIST NAME ----- ALBUM NAME (YYYY-MM-DD) ---------- ## TRACKNAME.mp4 Notes: month and day are optional... ## is album track number i am new to python. if you use this, its at your own risk, but it works well for me. i have another python script relating to youtube-dl that i will be posting in the other thread i started for that soon. you will see a bunch of commented out code in here. i forget what i was trying to do with it. at the end of the day, all i needed was what is in the script now to get my music video collection looking like the attached screenshot. mvmm_20200811_public.py

Duplicate Better Visibility for Audio Metadata / IOS UI Tweaks
Guest posted a topic in Feature Requests
I would love to see the option to have Emby show me more advanced Metadata for audio. I tag my files as meticolous as possible and it would be nice to have a display for things like Label, Barcode, ISRC, Catalogue Number, Original Release Date / Media Release Date etc. Basically the values MBP already shows me in it's tagger. But also the more technicals side of things like Sample Rate, Bit Rate, File Format, Mono/Stereo. Video already does that, so why not audio? Also a few more sorting options in Audio would be nice, like having the possibility to sort by Artist AND year, not just one of them. Further I'd love to have the option to turn off backgrounds in certain sections, same with Logos. I like the backgrounds/logos in movies but i dislike them in the music section, sometimes it differs from artist to artist. Another thing is the UI for the IOS Apps, to be more precise the bottom bar. It would be lovely to be able to customise that bar. For example, I don't need fast access to movies on my phone, but on my iPad, the other way around with music. Anyways, thanks a lot for the effort you put into Emby! UI wise I already like it a hundred times more than Plex. EDIT : Not just UI wise. In general. -
Best way to display short titles with movie posters for fitness videos?
Video Enthusiast posted a topic in General/Windows
I am really struggling and need some help. I am trying to set up a large collection of fitness videos in Emby (and Jellyfin and Plex for that matter) and struggling badly. Tvdb does not support fitness videos. Luckily moviedb does, one must enter each workout as a "movie" and tag it is a "video." This works, it downloads a nice poster, but it also pulls down the long file name (e.g. A Little Obsessed - Day 5 Legs) - see Figure 1. Because the rules at moviedb are that each "movie" must contain the series name first, and the workout name second, titles are very long, and they get cut off- so each video is labelled "the same" (see FIgure 2). On the other hand, if I embed the shortened title (eg. Day 5 Legs) in the metadata of the .mp4 and then in Emby select "prefer local metadata" and NO fetchers/agents, I get what I want - nice readable titles - except I don't get the nice poster (only a random segment of the video as a still). Or I can start with that, but as soon as I choose "identify" (or match in Plex) it pulls down the poster and the long title - for the ones that I do that for (see Figure 3). How can I fix this? I have too many videos to update the record for each video in Emby- I am looking for a solution that will work across the board (in part because I am experimenting in Windows but my final server will be on my Nvidia shield- once my disk drive/files/etc are all set up properly). Please help! Suggestions welcome! At one point I tried altering the title with .nfo files, but then it didn't stick- the system used the .nfo file to identify the video, and then pulled down the full poster and long title, and overwrote the .nfo file! Premise Emby is a media server which manages a media collection so the user does not have to do so. Basis for Feature Request Part of managing that collection is conversion to modern, appropriate media types that utilise better codecs, better encoding techniques. Presently people do most of this outside of Emby. Discussion The underlying tool being used for conversion is ffpmeg, see attached log. What I would like to see is an Advanced Conversion page which exposes some of these options to allow people to better manage their media conversion requirements. Then save these settings into a user-created named profile which can be exported or imported. This profile is then be applied it to a folder or file in the metadata of their collection. Doing so would initiate a conversion process with the settings of that profile. Benefits Current conversion options are limited. The Original Quality setting gives you files with 3MB/s bitrate from any source. Exposing more advanced options would allow the user to define specific conversion requirements and save them for use in their collection. The ability to export/import settings opens up a whole new class of community support. Conversion profiles can be shared between members and it is quite likely you will end up with a subculture of conversion expertise. As one person rightly said "giving advice on encoding is a lifetimes work" so its the community themselves who can do it best. Given the development of profiles and settings in a community of like minded people these can filter up to the Devs on which advanced features can be included in future releases. Reputation Given the right interest and gradual development Emby could easily become known for the best media management of all its competitors, something to distinguish itself in a competitive market. Devs Encoding and developing of such really is a work of passion. So its could easily become a pet project of some Dev to put together an advanced conversion page internally and slowly test out the options. Support Advanced encoding options are really out of scope when it comes to support. The core product does what it needs so if a forum is created for Advanced Conversion then right up front can be disclaimer that use of non standard profiles is at a users own risk. On the other hand, Emby devs working with the community are likely to develop some included advanced profiles that are supported when used for conversion. Thanks for listening. ffmpeg-transcode-a0dd4aa0-cce4-4e99-9e36-76d7599cc2e1_1 (4).txt

As I was correcting metadata for TV's 24, I noticed only 32 People appearing in the Cast & Crew section of the main show page, despite me loading 47 People into the Edit Metadata pop-up. Is there a limit? If so, can this limit be adjusted? 24's Main Screen 24's Main Screen, farther down the page: the Cast & Crew bar At the end of the Cast & Crew bar: Colm Feore and Annie Wersching In the Edit Metadata popup: Woah! There're a lot more names after Colm Feore and Annie Wersching!

Good Afternoon everyone, I have added a season to my library, Emby tags all the shows correctly, but only ads a few to my library. I have already: Checked for (stable) updates Re-started the server. Re-Scanned: Season Show Library. Copied away, Deleted via emby & Copied back the files same files are found, same metatdata applied Not sure what else to try, so here I am. Screenshot: Left Metadata Manager Season 3, Episodes 1-24 found and tagged Episode 2 details shown Right GUI: Season 3 Episodes 6, 16, 22-24 are only episodes showing.

I'm struggling with artists being randomly assigned to some of my albums. They are either all from 'The President's Own' United States Marine Band, or most of them are from that artist. Within my music directory for Emby every artist has their own folder and there are no music files that aren't in a folder. There are a few random albums in the main directory that aren't nested under an artist (I hope to fix that in the future). In the first image below, note that the artist for each of the albums should be listed as 'The President's Own' United States Marine Band (that's the folder they are in, and the Artist and Album Artist are both listed as 'The President's Own' United States Marine Band within the metadata (that's what the other two images show). Joshua Redman is listed as the artist for two of the albums, but he isn't, and he also isn't the composer. Joshua Redman has his own folder and has 4 albums in the folder, none of which is these albums. I selected Joshua Redman as the Artist within Emby and found that he has many albums, from various artists, that were incorrectly assigned to him (see 4th image). Richard Wagner is a similar story, except that he doesn't have his own folder. Wagner is a composer for some of the "songs" on some of my albums, but not that one. Previously I had this problem, except that these albums were "randomly" assigned to Audioslave. In an attempt to solve the problem, I deleted the library.db and the metadata folder for Emby. After everything loaded, this is what I got. Similar problem, but different artists assigned. I also disabled all media updating from outside sources (last image). Any suggestions to solve the problem? I've attached the directory tree for the 'The President's Own' United States Marine Band folder. Thank you for any help you can provide! Marine.txt

Metadata in ID3v2 tags not reading on MP4 music videos - Errors in Synology log
unisoft posted a topic in Synology
So the bulk of my music files have for some time been Ok and meta data there. These were encoded by Handbrake originally a long time ago. I use TPMGEnc Video Mastering Works 7 for some time for my TV content and Music Videos done in past couple of years (and TV appears fine as does movies using XML based metadata source files). My Music Videos (library type Music Videos) will not extract the meta data contained in the MP4 file even though the library has had this enabled for prefer embedded data. I noticed some errors in the Synology log file and have attached it. I have not messed around with my Emby Server - it simply has been upgraded since 3.5x for each Emby version with no beta versions. Its on 4.4.3 currently. No other 3rd party server apps. I've used iTunes and SoftPointer Tag & Rename - I've always used the latter for all the videos scanned in a while ago, but used iTunes to see if it no longer liked what Tag & Rename was doing. SD Music Videos Encoding Summary: Typically High Profile, component, 720x576 50 frames level 3.1. Interlaced 25fps content deinterlaced to Progressive 50fps. Stereo (320kbps) or Dolby Digital 5.1 (448kbps). Bt709. No HDR metadata. Thanks, embyserver.txt- 3 replies

Aloha community, one giant emby noob speaking, and so I have a problem. I hope I am in the right place and find an answer here, if I missed crucial details in order to find a solution please tell me, if should post somewhere else tell me too! So I want to set up Emby as my primary media player on OS X and IOS and started playing around with it. I set up my NAS with the server and whatnot and then started pulling some audio onto the server to see if Emby recognizes it. It does. But. The folder is called 20syl and emby does not want to make an artist out of it. Shows up under the Album (unclickable), but not in the artist section. So I pull out my ID3 Tag Editor to see if there is something wrong with the file. Nope. What's happening? Other artists work kind of fine. I had some problems with special signs like accents in french titles but hey. You cant have it all.. But! My guess is that the number in the beginning causes Problems but what can I do to make this work? I'd be extremely happy if somebody could tell me a way of correctly preparing files for Emby so that it reliably works. Sorry if this might be an old question but i couldn't find any valuable information concerning this topic. Thanks in advance! EDIT : I noticed that when i try to edit the metadata in emby it doesnt show an artist or an album artist as well. When i write it down and save it just says okay but nothing happens. When i reopen the section its gone. Refreshing metadata via the 3 points does nothing as well.

Library set up as Movie library - upon scan library, the search comes us blank every time, even if I manually use "Identify" from the metadata manager. No matter what I put in the search field for movie name. Tried IMDB id and TMDB id and still no joy. This worked all fine just last month - no changes to Synology config or software level. Currently on Emby 4.4.3.0 with Synology DS213 on 6.2.3-25426. Movie Meta Downloader settings are to use The MovieDB first then The Open Movie Database. Thoughts?

Small question about People images in migration from Windows to NAS
mofa2016 posted a topic in General/Windows
I have a EMBY server installed on my Windows10 PC, with "save metadata as nfo" and "Saving artwork into media folders" activated in the library settings. Now I want to build a NAS based on Unraid, surely I backup the files in the list below manually and transfer to new directory as the supporting article indicates. /ProgramData/config /ProgramData/plugins /ProgramData/data/collections /ProgramData/data/playlists /ProgramData/data/displaypreferences.db /ProgramData/data/users.db /ProgramData/data/library.db /ProgramData/metadata But I've noticed the people information in the .nfo files for my media indicating a directory that will be different with those on NAS. Then, the question would be this: Would those links transform properly “After the scan”, directing to the new directory? I am concerned about the people images won't be displayed unless a "Metadata Refresh" is operated. @@cayars -
How do I name the folder tree for Planet Earth II? Currently, Emby don't recognize it but Plex does, so does add the metadata as well. This is my format so far: Planet Earth II Season 1 Planet Earth II - S01E01 - Islands.mkv Planet.Earth.II - S01E02 - Mountains.mkv .... and so on. Also, I tried Planet Earth II Planet Earth II - S01E01 - Islands.mkv Planet.Earth.II - S01E02 - Mountains.mkv Both work fine with Plex but not Emby.

I'd love to figure out a way to solve a problem with scraping in Emby. I am finding that Emby never scrapes all of the actor images for movies that I import. And I'm not talking about indie movies, I'm talking about AAA movies with big name actors. It will always find some, but never a complete list. So part of my work-flow for importing a movie is to go back through and manually search for actor images and cards and fill them out myself. I'm a completionist, and having gray cards for actors is a no-go for me. Hopefully I'm not alone in this though. I think that the issue is that the current databases that Emby can scrape are limited. We can't scrape IMDB, so we're left with databases that are incomplete. How about we create our own Emby database and leverage the work that people like me are already doing? What I'm envisioning would be an opt-in sort of thing. I realize that not everyone would necessarily want to share their custom images and/or metadata. But for those of us that would be comfortable doing that, we could create a new Db to potentially fill in the gaps. Over time it could become much more complete than what's currently offered. I'm not talking about replacing the TheMovieDb or Open Movie Db. This would be something to compliment those and to fill in what they lack. It could even be something like this: You upload an Actor Picture and you're presented with a checkbox to add it to the Community Database. You check it and that image is uploaded and connected to the profile in the database for that actor. The same could apply to any Metadata that is currently scraped in Emby. Anytime someone creates something, they get a checkbox to add it to the Community database. By default the Community Database could be the last option for scraping data for content. So if it's not found in the official databases, then the Community database is scraped. I hope this makes sense, and I'm hopeful that I'm not the only one that would be interested in contributing to something like this.

Hi folks, I'm trying out Emby for the first time today and it looks really good so far. I have only one thing I haven't been able to sort out which is how to get Emby to use the sort title metadata field. From a bit of searching it looks Emby is using ffprobe to get that information, is that still true? Environment: docker with emby/embyserver:4.4.2.0. I mounted a folder with a single file to /mnt/share2. I accessed the container to see if ffprobe would correctly see the metadata and it does: /mnt/share2 # ffprobe ./The.Circle.mp4 ffprobe version 4.3.0-emby_2020_02_24 Copyright (c) 2007-2019 the FFmpeg developers and softworkz for Emby LLC built with gcc 8.3.0 (crosstool-NG 1.24.0) Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from './The.Circle.mp4': Metadata: major_brand : isom minor_version : 512 compatible_brands: isomiso2avc1mp41 title : The Circle date : 2017 encoder : Lavf58.20.100 sort_name : TheCircle01 Duration: 01:49:47.14, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 2449 kb/s Stream #0:0(und): Video: h264 (Main) (avc1 / 0x31637661), yuv420p, 1280x534 [SAR 1:1 DAR 640:267], 1997 kb/s, Level 31, 23.98 fps, 23.98 tbr, 24k tbn, 47.95 tbc (default) Metadata: handler_name : VideoHandler Stream #0:1(eng): Audio: ac3 (ac-3 / 0x332D6361), 48000 Hz, 5.1(side), fltp, 448 kb/s (default) Metadata: handler_name : SoundHandler Side data: audio service type: main Stream #0:2(eng): Data: bin_data (text / 0x74786574) Metadata: handler_name : SubtitleHandler I re-created the library with no metadata downloaders on and 'prefer embedded titles' just to see if that would help but no luck. For giggles I renamed the file to noname.mp4, re-created the library again and Emby did not use the metadata for the title either. What am I missing? Thank you

I just install and use emby from last week. I install the server on win10 I used it mostly on PC and apple tv app. Suddenly, I found it cannot find the existing server on apple tv. I try to use it on firefox of PC. It shows "http://localhost:8096"cannot be connect. I restart the server from taskbar icon many times. It still cannot work, even restart the PC. I cannot find the emby server icon on start menu, even after couple times of PC restart. Eventually, I re-install the emby server, and found that all metadata of the past week work (over hundred hours) has been vanished. Since I has data bank for over 4 thousand movies, I work hard to find the in-recognize and mismatch movies data, and matched manually inside emby before. After re-install server and setup those media library, it can only recognize the picture, not the right name of the movie. I afraid that will happen again. I try emby also according to the server lost of other emby competitor, which has been used for many years. Can you teach me how can I backup the server and restore those manually matched movie data? to avoid another disaster happen again, even change PC? Thank you @@cayars

Check For Plugin Updates Fails Along With Artwork And Metadata
justinds89 posted a topic in General/Windows
Hey all, it just recently started happening it seems. Lately it is failing to check for updates on the plugins. Also, the last two movies I've added it is unable to download metadata for them including artwork. Any idea what may be causing this? Nothing has changed on the PC that Emby is running on to my knowledge. Thanks! -
Seems like this gets brought up a lot and there doesn't seem to be a step by step guide, so I'm asking again. I just set up Emby to handle music files only (any other setup tips would be welcome) and had it sort through the library, it's been a few days since then and it's still not displaying embedded artwork, so I don't know if I missed a setting somewhere or not. So to go through the motions, here's my step by step. I've manually combed through all of my music with MusicBrainz Picard and mp3tag. I have correct tags for everything, and most importantly, correct album cover art. On a different thread I read that there might be some confusion between id3v1 and id3v2.3, but looking in the extended tags in mp3tag, there's nothing with duplicates that should cause any confusion. I'm pretty sure I have Picard set to erase all the metadata and only rewrite it with new values, so v1 and v2.3 should be identical for everything, and was for the few albums I checked. Installed Emby, a crucial step. When setting up the music library, I turned off all metadata providers. The library settings, with the advanced options, only has real time monitoring enabled. Everything else is unticked, with "Automatically refresh metadata from the internet" set to Never. Library scan. No or incorrect artwork shown. For having the metadata and all providers disabled, it's still finding a few album covers, which are noticeably different from the embedded files, and mp3tag only shows the single image I've put in. Did I miss something? There's no obvious tick box in the library setup saying "Read embedded metadata"

Ever since Update 4.4.1.0, I cannot identify any of my movies, search for plugins, or have the server automatically download Metadata. Server is having issues fetching plugin updates. I've tried to do some things myself such and reinstall Emby Server, remove OMDb and left TMDb. Searching in IMDB in Identify and get no results. Log file attached. Please Help.

My issue or goal with this post is that i would like at the very least for the show titles to be in Norwegian and ideally also all the other metadata as thetvdb often only have metadata in the original language of the show. Situation: I have a separate library for tv-shows in my native language, The Preferred downloading language, Country and Preferred downloading language for pictures are all set to Norwegian. (under library settings). Yet all shows are displayed with an English title and English show description, And lack the show description. For the purposes of this post i'm referring to this show: https://thetvdb.com/series/the-great-norway-adventure The show title is in both Norwegian and English, The show and episode info are all in Norwegian only. I'm not sure about the pictures. The individual episodes only have descriptions in Norwegian (on the thetvdb) and these are missing on Emby. It apears i'm only getting metadata in english instead of the chosen language. I attempted to set the language for just this show and refresh all metadata (replacing existing) and yet there was no improvement. It does not appear to be an issue for my movie folder set to Norwegian, So i guess this is the tvdb api. Attached are logs for the next 6 minutes after i told Emby to refresh the metadata (replacing metadata). Edit: nvm i found this: https://forums.thetvdb.com/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=60423&p=174944&hilit=norwegian#p174944 I created this post as i found this issue to be on their fixed list, but i guess not. The issue is aparantly still with thetvdb api and is limited to the Norwegian Language.

This maybe a bug or just the underlying behavior to get multi-versions to work in Emby. According the Emby Wiki you can name the movies files with the following naming convention Multiple versions of the same content can be stored in a single movie folder. /Movies /300 (2006) /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 1080p.mkv /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 1080p-trailer.mp4 /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 4K.mkv /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 720p.mp4 /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - extended edition.mp4 /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - directors cut.mp4 /300 (2006)/300 (2006) - 3D.hsbs.mp4 Each version must begin with the folder name, followed by " - ". If using the dash method anything following the dash will be what you see in the Emby client app. I have couple movies, Thor: Ragnarok, Pokemon Detective Picaku, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword and that do not group properly What discovered using MediaInfo tool was Movie Name in the Container had different names Blu-Ray Rip UHD Rip Blu-Ray UHD

I've been trying all day to get Emby to download the metadata for a specific show from TheTVDB, but parts of it aren't coming through, especially the Specials. @@cayars In my main settings for Emby, under Library/Advanced, I have a metadata path set up that points to a spare SSD. I created a test 'movies' folder and placed a movie in there and checked the box for "...metadata saver to .nfo" and also checked the box to save artwork into this folder. First (maybe dumb) question is, when Emby scanned that test folder and saw the movie in there, why wasn't the artwork save into that folder? But now onto the main point of my post; with Plex, whenever I would hop to a new distro, I would follow the instructions for backing up all the necessary files and moving everything to a new Linux install. I would never back up my cache or metadata since it seemed to just take hours and hours vs. just letting my new Plex install rebuild everything from scratch. The problem with this approach however was that in my movie library, I would always have to manually fix metadata on dozens of movies due to mismatches. I think the metadata manager in Emby is 100x better than Plex. BUT, for movies like 'Wonder', Emby wants to identify it as 'Wonder Woman' and I'll need to manually intervene and fix it, which I'm totally fine with, BUT.... once I get all my movies fixed in Emby, how do I make sure those metadata corrections are backed up in case I ever have to load Emby on a new box? I was reading the guide for backing up the server and see that backing up metadata is not a feature of the 'Server Configuration Backup' plugin. Then I see this sentence in that guide: This will not backup library contents and metadata. To keep a permanent copy of metadata, we suggest enabling saving of local metadata to media folders. ....... and I think this is what I'm after, correct? Unfortunately, I don't see that exact wording anywhere. I found this thread: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/73693-how-do-i-save-local-metadata-to-media-folders/ .... and it looks like 'save artwork into media folders' is the new equivalent to 'saving of local metadata to media folders', right? Which finally brings me to my last question............ in the admin dashboard, on the 'Nfo metadata' tab, I see "Save user watch data to nfo's for"..... and you can select a user. How can you tell Emby to record ALL users' watch data to an nfo file? Hope I articulated my question(s) correctly.

Hi Could you please add add a db service like goodreads.com (they have and IPI) or something that could identify and download images and metadata for ebooks and audiobooks by name like movies and series? Thanks
