  1. I swear the option was there before, searching the forum does not appear to show any other reports of this. Is there a reason we dont have TheTvDB as a Season Level MetaData provider anymore (Emby Server Version: 4.8.8.0)
Merci.

    Anime English Voice Actors

So Myanimelist has both the original and English voice actors for shows on their site. Recently I have been manually deleting and adding the English actors (as I only do dubbed) but it would take forever. I do have preferred Metadata as English but it makes no difference. Is there a way to have the info off Myanimelist pull the English actors rather then the original ones on dubbed animes pull and load? Would save so much time seeing that I am at about 30TB right now?? Thank you.
  4. Music is an integral part of our daily lives, and its impact is often tied to the mood it helps evoke or express. I would like to propose a feature that I believe could significantly enrich the music listening experience on Emby: the addition of mood tags for music tracks by reading the mood descriptors from embedded metadata in music tracks, enabling users to filter and create playlists based on their emotional tone.
  5. Emby does not seem to be parsing the metadata tags for HEIC files. I can see view the imported HEIC files in the Photos tab, but they are not showing up in the Tags tab. It appears Emby is not parsing keywords properly for HEIC files like it can for JPEG and other formats, even though in the keywords for both formats are in the xmp-dc:subject metadata field. Is this a known limitation?
  6. How to find a specific title that has been improperly matched? There’s a certain TV show titled “Traces” that I have, however it cannot be found via search or manually searching in the library itself. It would seem that it has been automatically improperly matched upon library creation a while ago. I have thousands of tv shows, so checking one by one is not viable. I have checked alternative titles that are used for this show, and already checked other titles that are similar as well, with no success. How can I find what it has been improperly matched as, so I can fix it?

    Embeded Metadata in mkv/mp4 files

I am new to Emby, but I am not new to technology or media servers. I have had media servers since Windows NT 3.5/4.0 Server (yeah, I am that old). Current Server: Synology DS1621+ (AMD Ryzen 32Gb RAM)/Emby v4.8.3.0 -- Players: Roku Ultra 4 and Web Browsers META ISSUE 1 My first movie media library had about 250 items. I noticed 12 or so movies did not display the correct meta information; Robin Hood (1991) - 1K.mkv and You Only Live Twice (1967).mkv, and The Two Towers (2002) - Extended Edition-disk1.mkv had the 'wrong' cover art. OK STOP.... I know I can (and did) update the mkv files from the meta manager, but from my perspective I should not have to. Why you ask?... For years I have been using MetaX to add metadata and art to my mp4/mkv files. (I am NOT affiliated with or endorsing MetaX, I am simply providing information to expatiate a resolution) Here are screen shots of MetaX, and Windows Explorer displaying the expected metadata. I have also noticed many of my embedded short/long descriptions are being ignored/not imported as well. So yes, I am new to Emby, is there a setting/plugin I missed? I am frustrated, from my perspective, Emby should be using my data FIRST but it appears you are not. I should not have to check every movie every time I add a new file to the server, but I fell like I have to. Help/Thanks. META ISSUE 2 (Should this be a separate post?) Overview: I have 2 volumes, volume1 is for my company/work/web files, volume2 is the media drive with mp3/mp4/mkv files. volume2 is at 85% capacity, so as a temporary fix, I added a media folder to volume1 and gave Emby R/W permission to that folder. I had the movie Moonfall on volume2 there was no issue with the metadata. see screen cap below. I decided to add/move my 4K movies to volume1 as a temp storage solution. Here are the steps I took: Deleted Moonfall. Shut off Emby server. Moved Moonfall to volume1, added Apollo 13 to volume 1. Started Emby server. Added new folder. Scanned media folders. Apollo 13 came up as Emmanuelle, I mean wow, Apollo 13 is NOTHING like Emmanuelle, and Moonfall became Through My Window. The metadata was fine on volume2, but not on volume1? PLUS there is metadata already embedded in the mkv file! As a further test, I deleted the volume1 folder, moved Moonfall back to volume2, and poof the correct metadata is there. What am I missing or not understand? Help/Thanks. embyserver-63847518877.txt embyserver.txt
  8. Hi I noticed newly added series no longer fetch metadata and images from TheTVDB. The first series which didn't retrieve info was Avatar: The Last Airbender (2024) so I thought it was because Emby couldn't find the correct Avatar series but even after identifying the series and forcing a metadata refresh only the series description is filled in, no images are retrieved and the episodes are not recognised. Today I tried with another series: 'Death and Other Details' but the result is the same: Attached are the server logs for yesterday (with the identify) and today. I do notice a lot of Unauthorized errors in the logs. Is there an issue with TheTVDB right now? I'm still using Emby 4.7.14.0 as I'm waiting on an update to make the Android TV app compatible with Emby 4.8. embyserver-5.txt embyserver-63846403200.txt

    Batch File Renamer

Ever had to rename an entire series worth of file to the proper format? It sucks... It's time consuming.... Does anyone else have use for something like this? Double clicking a folder will go into that sub-directory. Single clicking highlights a file, click multiple files will highlight multiple files. Any suggestions? Was it worth the time?
  10. I recently switched over to Emby from Plex and while me and the households of my siblings are perfectly fine with having Emby in English our parents don't speak any English at all, so we had to find a way to have the metadata on Emby in Hungarian as well. Since you can't have multi-language libraries where users can just switch to another metadata language on the client side, I've tried to create new libraries with a different metadata language but with the same folders, and then I would hide the English libraries from my parents' user accounts. This is how my Plex was set up and this setup worked fine on Plex without issues, but for some reason on Emby my new Hungarian language libraries didn't want to switch over to Hungarian, no matter what I did. I've double-checked the library metadata settings multiple times, I've restarted Emby, I forcefully refreshed all the metadata for my new libraries, but nothing worked. I noticed that when I was refreshing the metadata for my new libraries the percentage icon also appeared on top of my old English libraries that were sharing the same folders with my new libraries, which made me think that because these libraries happen to share the same folders for some reason Emby treats them as if they were actually the same library, and that's why it was refusing to switch over from English because that's the metadata language of my old library. I've tried searching the Emby forums and Google, but I couldn't find anything about this issue. But I did see a comment that said that having libraries with the same folders can cause issues and bugs, which further confirmed my suspicion that these different libraries were treated by Emby as if they were the same library. As a temporary solution to this issue, I thought that for my new Hungarian libraries, I had to have new folder paths that differed from the ones that the old English ones use. Since making copies of my video folders, which take up multiple terabytes, would be a waste of space and time, I thought of creating Symbolic Links at a different location that point to my video folders, and using the folder path of my Symbolic Links I would be able to trick Emby into thinking these are different folders. Since I host my Emby server on Windows I used an app called Link Shell Extension to create the Symbolic Links. For example, this is the folders of my old English movie library: And this is the new folder path I made using Symbolic Links: After I did this Emby finally switched over the metadata language of my new libraries to Hungarian. I wrote this all down not only just to report this issue, but also help those who might encounter this same issue in the future.
  11. I thought there was already something for this, but I can't seem to find it. I'd like to see Mate-data languages in the language that the user sets. So for example, if a user has their device set to Dutch, all meta data is displayed in Dutch, whereas the same item would be displayed in Spanish if the user has set their device to Spanish. Movie/series posters in the display language of the device would be a nice addition to this as well
  12. Hi I noticed that for most of the movies added to my library in the last months the metadata is not in the language I set in the library settings. Language is set to 'Dutch': But the metadata for these movies is in English. For example 'Saltburn (2023)' is available on TheMovieDb with Dutch overview but looks like this (https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/930564-saltburn?language=nl): For some movies the overview is in English and the title in Chinese (original language of the movie): This is also available on TheMovieDb with a Dutch overview and English title : https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/535167?language=nl I can give other examples if needed. A few examples of recent movies which were correctly retrieved in Dutch are: Moonfall (2022), Trolls Band Together (2023) and Godzilla - King of the Monsters (2019). Does anyone have the same issue or a hint at what might cause this?
  13. Hello, I am trying to get gamebrowser working on my emby instance. I have the addon v3.2.9 installed on Emby 4.7.14.0 running on Docker. Folder structure is as spelled out in the Gamebrowser guide post: /mnt/user/multimedia/Games/N64/Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire/Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire.z64 Games Library root: /mnt/user/multimedia/Games/ I configured my game systems in the plugin config as follows: <?xml version="1.0"?> <PluginConfiguration xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"> <GameSystems> <ConsoleFolderConfiguration> <Path>/mnt/user/multimedia/Games/N64</Path> <ConsoleType>Nintendo 64</ConsoleType> </ConsoleFolderConfiguration> </GameSystems> </PluginConfiguration> I also have the EmuMovies plugin installed with my creds stored in the config. When i add the /mnt/user/multimedia/Games/ folder as a library, it finds the games and created entries that list the file names, but does not pull any images or other metadata for them. when i look in the debug logs, i see entries like this: 2024-01-11 21:05:57.105 Debug App: Running FolderImageProvider for /mnt/user/multimedia/Games/N64/Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire 2024-01-11 21:05:57.110 Debug App: Running EmuMoviesImageProvider for /mnt/user/multimedia/Games/N64/Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire/Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire.z64 2024-01-11 21:05:57.110 Info HttpClient: GET https://api.gamesdbase.com/search.aspx?search=Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire&system=&media=Cabinet&sessionid=REDACTED 2024-01-11 21:05:57.195 Info HttpClient: GET https://api.gamesdbase.com/search.aspx?search=Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire&system=&media=Cart&sessionid=REDACTED 2024-01-11 21:05:57.277 Info HttpClient: GET https://api.gamesdbase.com/search.aspx?search=Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire&system=&media=Snap&sessionid=REDACTED 2024-01-11 21:05:57.361 Info HttpClient: GET https://api.gamesdbase.com/search.aspx?search=Star Wars - Shadows of the Empire&system=&media=Title&sessionid=REDACTED If you look in the URLs, you will see that the "system" parameter is empty. If i take one of those URLs and alter it and put in the correct system parameter like system=Nintendo_N64, it works. What am I configuring incorrectly which is preventing Emby and the plugins from determining the value to pass as the system?
  14. I recently added the movie Robin Hood Prince of Thieves to my movie library. Emby correctly identified the movie, but the images are for the movie Open Water. When I searched for new images the primary did have an image for the right movie along with a bunch for the wrong movie. All other image searches only had images for Open Water. The cast, description and everything else seem correct, just the wrong images. Any thoughts?
  15. The Edit Subtitles context menu option on a Movie Collection item presents a Search for Subtitles dialog. It appears that the Filename, instead of the title and year information from the Media item, is used to perform the such. This results in non-matching items, due to media file naming conventions conflicting with the opensubtitles provider. Further, it would be useful to be able to upload a subtitle file in this dialog, as an alternative.
  16. I have my 3D and 2D rips from MakeMKV (shrunk via FFMEG and/or Handbrake) and tweaked in MakeMKV_GUI (for sub and lang force/sort defaults). The files are name according to wiki: Movie Name (2023).mkv Movie Name (2023) 3D HSBS.mkv Both version served and play fine. 3D movies show meta 3D tag and are filterable. Problem: Android (phone) 3.3.40 shows "3D" after the rating. Same for Chrome, Firefox, Edge and Safari - web direct (multiple OS platforms and versions). Amazon Firestick 4K TV using Amazon's store installs 2.0.93a, which lacks the 3D indicator as well. Sideloading 3.3.40 and all Android devices good. Is there a setting in 3.3.43 (and future versions) to allow 3D to be shown on movie info view?
  17. Hi, Is there a way for Emby to always use the name of the local file and not the name it found thanks to the metadata? For example, it happens that a file named XXXXX in the local files, is named with another name or in another language on Emby. So when I try to search for the file with the Emby search bar, it doesn't find it most of the time. There is a way to improve the search bar or to prevent Emby from changing the file name.
  18. Possibly this is answered but I couldn't find the answer: I started a new music library in Emby and scanned it overnight. Some of the artist names are showing up as the names of the artist folder names instead of the metadata in the files. For example, the artist "Alicia Keys" is showing up in Emby as "alicia_keys". Or "Louis Armstrong" shows up as "louis_armstrong". This is a problem with most of the artists but not all of them. Some of the artists do show up correctly: "Willie Nelson" shows up correctly as "Willie Nelson". I've verified that my metadata tags are correct. Is the library still being built and I don't see that? The dashboard doesn't say anything is happening and the scheduled tasks say the media library scan was completed 11 hours ago. Any advice is appreciated.
  19. Hey everyone New to Emby coming from Plex. I wish I would’ve switched over to Emby sooner cause I appreciate the customization and focus on personal media. Please don’t change! The focus on moving away from personal media is what drove me away from Plex (even though I have a lifetime Plex Pass). @Carlo That said, I do have just a few questions. 1. I know of the Bulky Metadata plugin, but is it possible to hide all ratings or disable the community ratings for all of my movies and tv shows entirely? I don’t have IMDB or Rotten Tomatoes enabled so this is nearly perfect for me (I hate ratings for my own personal media). I can do this manually but with all the media I have, it would take a very long time to edit metadata one by one. Any tips here will be much appreciated! 2. On Android TV is it possible to use CSS customization? I’m mainly running Emby on my Sony X90J and it’s pretty flawless, just wondering if this is possible for a few UI tweaks I would like to make. 3. On the Android TV app, is it possible to disable “up next” from TV series view? I personally don’t like seeing episode thumbnails of episodes I haven’t watched, and would love to disable this in the TV series view. 4. Why can’t emby Direct Play VC-1 codec on Android TV? Some of my older blu-rays and TV shows use this codec and it seems to always be problematic. Thanks in advance for your help! Overall I’m super happy with the switch to Emby No major playback issues and great UI/ customization. Keep up the great work
  20. So something weird happened when I as sorting my recorded kids shows The path to the files would be something like /mnt/library/Kids/P/"showname"/"Season" I only have the option to identify the folder /P not each show inside it. And it works just fine for all other letter folders. Any suggestions on how to fix it. If it matters, the server is on Ubuntu 22.04
  21. TV shows library is set for TV shows. Documentaries are set as Mixed content. Movies work fine? Everything is identified fine (for the most part, I can fill in the gaps there), but the posters won't pull for some reason and I cannot figure out why. I can manually edit the image and when i search, all the usual options are available, but doing it manually for a whole library obviously isn't ideal. Thanks! Emby Log.txt
  22. Need some guidance on migrating an 8 year old metadata folder to my new UNRAID server (from a Windows Server 2012). What is the currently supported folder structure for metadata? My current metadata folder is a mess as it is so old, e.g. I have musicartists as well as artists folders and musicgenres and MusicGenre (are these two even supporrted?) etc. Once I know this, I can migrate the specific supported folders and discard the rest. Have not decided yet whether to use the Backup/Restore plugin (which will give me a clean migration with none of the baggage from my current 8 year old install) or just do a manual migration (which is very fast (a few hours compared to days, see point 2 below). Also in running some tests on the migration using the Backup/Restore plugin, I have noticed the following: The Backup/Restore plugin does not restore the read marks on manually created TV Series (i.e. ones which do not have a web metadata provider reference). This was as I suspected but is there a work around? My music media collection is so large that its is taking 3 days plus to scan all the music tracks (and then there is the photo negatives library etc!). Is there are anyway to speed this up. Thanks in advance.
  23. I use Emby for my anime collection since I mainly watch the series in German, and I want to have the German voice actors listed. Unfortunately, the scrapers can only find Japanese voice actors, so I'm doing the work of changing them for over 500 series. However, after a while of work, I noticed that voice actors who have a double role are being deleted, except for the first one entered. Once I update the metadata, only one voice actor is left. I'm now a bit frustrated and hope that there will be a solution for this issue.
  24. I’ve got a strange server connectivity problem that affects the ability of Emby to update Metadata for library entries. I’ve explored the Emby forums and tried various fixes but can’t find a solution hence this post and request for ideas that might help. The Emby server [4.7.11.0] runs on an Ubuntu Server [22.04.1 LTS] connected to my LAN, Router and ISP. My ISP doesn’t offer inbound connections so, as is, I’m unable to access my Emby server remotely. To overcome this problem I use a VPN connection to the internet, with a dedicated domain name, which allows me to access the server remotely. The basic setup works fine. I can access the server locally from my LAN and remotely using the dedicated domain name/VPN. The problem is that when the VPN connection is running on the server Metadata updates on the server don’t work. All other features viewing/streaming content work but Metadata updates fail. If I stop the VPN connection on the Ubuntu server so the Emby server just sees the LAN and standard ISP connection then Metadata updates work normally. For the remote connection, the Emby server connects via an Nginx reverse proxy and Openvpn. I’ve followed the guidance elsewhere in the forums on using Nginx and remote connections [e.g. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/93074-how-to-emby-with-nginx-with-windows-specific-tips-and-csp-options/] and I’ve tried with both secure [https] and non-secure [http] remote connections. The problem remains the same. I’ve attached a copy of the Emby server log showing examples where Metadata updates fail. I’d be grateful for suggestions of any further things I might to do resolve this problem. Many thanks. embyserver.txt
  25. I had an experience which pointed out (in a big way) that we are lacking a feature in "Edit Images". I told EMBY to scan for new files in a one directory of a library. Doing this killed all the metadata in that subdirectory structure (over 8000 files) including all the imported images which EMBY now has no record of. This made me aware of a problem (again). Aside from the fact that this is clearly a major BUG (the server has no need to tamper with existing metadata in order to find NEW media files) we seriously need a way to tell EMBY not to update the *images* associated with a given file. There is a check-box to tell EMBY not to update the OTHER metadata (at the bottom of the page for Edit Metadata) but there is equivalent box to click in the "Edit Images" info to tell EMBY not to 'forget' all of my carefully selected images. Right now using 'Scan' kills all my carefully selected images and unlike the rest of the metadata there is no way to tell EMBY to leave my images the hell alone.
