I just downloaded the PornDB plugin from GitHub, but it seems to not have worked. Does anyone know any fixes? Are there any emby plugins for adult films metadata?
-
Adding music to Emby, it is particularly difficult to organise Albums/Artist. It would be incredibly helpful if multi-select Albums/Artists adds the ability to bulk edit metadata like tags, artist name, album name and cover art.

Hi, I was wondering if there was any way of changing the way that artists are listed in for example the view below? What I'd like to do is change the "sort title" for the artists (mostly composers in my case) so for example "Anton Bruckner" ⇒ "Bruckner" and "Antonín Dvořák" ⇒ "Dvořák" , but the problem I then have is that the regular title is what gets displayed, so the page looks like the artists are in a random order, whereas I'd like to be able to display the "sort title" under the image instead. Is this possible? I know I could just change the "title" for the artist to be just their surname, but that won't work with multiple composers with the same surname (eg. all the Bachs) and I'd still want their full name appearing on their pages, just not on the index screens like below. Does any of what I'd said make any sense? Thanks in advance for any help.

Anything todo with emby scanning updating metadata library
Ugnaughts posted a topic in Developer API
i wanted to start a topic to consolidate any knowledge on the topic of scanning library's for emby. so anyone who has info related to how the scanners work. how they are organized in the database. people that are comfortable with developing plugins. people comfortable with database query's cmds. this topic is not designed to have one answer, but on going so anyone that has any new helpful details can put in this topic. so we can work together in fine tuning the emby scanning/updating process. since we cant update the original post with the updates that we have learned so far. we can occasionally just post within the thread what we have learned from this thread to that point. this will help future developers of plugins and others learn anything about this topic on an advanced level.- 11 replies

Hello, Am i missing something on the settings in emby/anime? The only setting i have is the ms so i dont get banned searching up metadata in anidb. i have no choice of genre or something like that. Im pretty sure there was some options like that. Im using the newest emby version, freshly installed. Thanks and merry christmas

Coming from VideoStation, a big disappointment is that Emby does not remember already used tags. So if I have a library with 100 movies with tag: horror, I have to type in the whole word "horror" every time I want to add the tag. There is no list of previously used tags I can simply click and choose from. That slows down the process significantly, especially with multiple tags in a movie, and also is a risk of messing up the tags with typos.

Wrong identification of episode of a specific public affairs TV series
mighty_spiky posted a topic in Emby Provided Guide Data
Hi, I use live TV with Emby along its recording capability. I regularly record new episodes of a specific public affairs TV series named "24/60" from Radio-Canada (the french equivalent of CBC here in Québec). The episodes are wrongly named "24 60 2008-09-29", "24 60 2008-09-29 - 1", etc. since they are original new stuff from 2024. I guess "2008-09-29" is the date of the very first episode of that show.. It annoys me because the new added episodes are marked as already seen even though they are not. I guess it's because of their naming pattern. I delete the viewed episodes regularly so the new episode get the old (and already used) name "24 60 2008-09-29". For the record, I've also tried to record the same show with live TV on Plex and I don't have the problem. -
If I let Emby edit my meta data sometimes it automatically fills the field Tags. If I edit de music file with mp3tag the information is not shown in the file under Tags. Why reads Emby this information when renewing metadata and which part of the information is used to fill the field Tags in Emby. If this is identified can I do this as well with mp3tag.

I'm trying to get the SpongeBob series correctly into my libary. I have all Episodes in "joined" format (so 2 episodes in one file). This ordering is available on TVDB as "Alternate" order for the API and is also used on IMDB. BUT it seems it's neither possible to set "Alternate" for the TVDB Order Settings in the Series metadata options (only aired, dvd and absolute order are available there) nor is it possible to use IMDBs order for series in general. So whatever I select it just puts the names of the first half of all episodes in and just says the other half is missing... How can I fix this problem? It would be cool if an "Alternate" order setting for TVDB Metadata could be added. See https://www.thetvdb.com/series/spongebob-squarepants#seasons -> joined order for more information. They explicitly state "Usable as "Alternate Order" in API-connected systems" under the joined order format. Regards

Trying to designate a Synology NAS shared folder for metadata storage.
RLanger7228 posted a topic in Synology
I am new to Emby, and trying to transition from Synology Video Station. I want to save Emby metadata in a shared folder on my NAS (DS718+), so I can back it up & restore it more easily as needed. I created a shared folder "EmbyServer", but I didn't see Emby among the users, so I couldn't give permission when creating it (of note, Plex created a user when it was installed). When I go to Emby Settings>Library>Advanced settings (1st screenshot), I see an option to enter a path for the metadata. I tried entering /VOLUME1/EmbyServer, but that didn't work (path not found). I tried \\192.168.1.153:8096 (from 2nd screenshot below). I at least got a spinning circle, but eventually got the error message "Emby Server requires write access to this folder. Please ensure write access and try again". If I don't see an Emby option among the users, how can I give permission? The 3rd screenshot displayed the current paths that the metadata, etc is stored under. I can't seem to find these folders anywhere on my NAS. I assume they must be somewhere on the NAS itself. How do I find them? I was using File Station, search all shared folders & search all homes, with search all subfolders active. -
How do I do a manual search to get correct(ed) movie metadata
RLanger7228 posted a topic in Synology
I am new to Emby (since Synology is dropping support for Video Station). I setup Emby SERVER, and gave permissions to the appropriate shared folders in my video library on my NAS. It is finding my new content/additions OK. However, there is an instance where I have both the original film (1987) AND the remake (2009). However, Emby has identified both films as the 2009 version, even though the actual file names are different (Movie name & Movie name 2009). I went to the EDIT metadata screen. I found the section with the external database references (IMDB, etc). Clicking on the icon on the right brought me to the IMDB website with the (incorrect) movie showing. I did an IMDB search for the proper movie & copied the title reference, then put it in the IMBD field. I deleted the other external database reference numbers & saved my changes. However, all the other metadata remained unchanged. In Video Station, there was an option to do a manual search, which produced a list of possibilities. When I selected one of those movie titles, the metadata would repopulate with information appropriate to my selection (title, actors/directors/writers, description & thumbnail images, etc). Is there a way to do that in EMBY, so I don't have to manually edit every metadata field for movies it incorrectly identifies during automatic indexing? -
It took me too long to find the answer, so I am resharing so it is hopefully more prominent. OP did it with Mulvad, I use Surfshark, but doesnt seem like your VPN provider should be a factor: op: https://emby.media/community/index.php?%2Ftopic%2F108801-emby-metadata-will-not-load-with-split-tunneling%2F=#comment-1145985 Fix for Emby not collecting metadata with VPN on, even with split tunneling: Go to C:\Users\%USERNAME%\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\system Edit EmbyServer.runtimeconfig.json Under configProperties, go to the end of the last existing line and type a comma "," press enter and paste "System.Net.DisableIPv6": true Example: { "runtimeOptions": { "tfm": "net6.0", "includedFrameworks": [ { "name": "Microsoft.NETCore.App", "version": "6.0.29" }, { "name": "Microsoft.AspNetCore.App", "version": "6.0.29" } ], "configProperties": { "System.Reflection.Metadata.MetadataUpdater.IsSupported": false, "System.Net.DisableIPv6": true } } }

Music Album/Track/Artist - Local Image Importer (not embeded images)
mickle026 posted a topic in Plugins
This is currently for testing purposes only - use at your own risk Use on a test library before even attempting to use on your main server. Plugin For Albums in their own folders ! Emby doesnt seem to be able to do this correctly , every track gets the first ones scanned embedded image. Unless i am doing it wrong. ?? But doing it this way it makes absolutely no difference what the embeded images are or what emby does or doesnt do, you are in control. Use it with realtime scanning then you dont have to mess with embys metadata editor, only to loose all the settings if i have to redo anything. You can drop an artist image in the folder or a track Image (I use singles cover images for the tracks- i like them that way) and it just adds it when RTM picks up a change, or a refresh metadata happens. So the EXAMPLE album cover is the 1977 one but the track covers are all different Its a local Metadata Reader , so it scans the local directory when any metadata refresh happens or library scan happens. Set settings in Library Edit screen. It doesnt use embeded images, it looks for an image with the same name as the track name I dont think I ever publically posted it before??? - probably because I never officially finished it! I cannot remember but I think they can be in subfolders too. Anyway it scans the local directories for song track covers, album covers and artist images. - nothing embeded! (supports jpg/gif/png/bmp/webp/tiff) Album covers will be Poster.jpg Cover.jpg Front.jpg folder.jpg 1.jpg 0.jpg f.jpg filename-front.jpg filename-poster.jpg R-xxxxxxxxxxxx.jpg // this one is for directly downloaded discogs R- filename images Artists are the same but name can be hyponated, underscored etc, probably can be in a sub folder. Rod Stewart.jpg Rod-Stewart.jpg Rod_Stewart.jpg Song Tracks Must be the same as the mp3 filename, but with a different extension Album cover backdrops are also supported by the plugin *-backdrop*.jpg *-background*.jpg *-landscape*.jpg *-fanart*.jpg backdrop*.jpg background*.jpg landscape*.jpg fanart*.jpg As it assigns the local image, beware that if you remove the image in emby it will probably remove the image from the drive (I cannot exactly remember if it does or not). I know it just returns a result to emby, so it probably depends on your settings within emby. if you are on windows and want to extract your embeded album art you can create a batch file and use ffmpeg (copy them both to the album directory and run it) Batch file contents - for jpg extract from mp3s for %%f in (*.mp3) do ffmpeg.exe -i "%%f" -an -vcodec copy "%%~nf.jpg" Anyway you are welcome to try it (as always with my plugins - try at your own risk) If you do try it, create a test library first becuase I have not tested the Album backdrops work correctly! - they should... Still to do... whenever I can be bothered. Make a config screen so you can dissable the logging - sorry its just on for now! LocalAlbumCoverImporter.zip Fixed Artist Import Throwing Errors into Emby Main log, and now only scans the current directory (test code was looking in all directories that the artist existed on tracks) LocalAlbumCoverImporter-12.09.2024.zip -
Trying to switch from Plex because its crappy Android ExoPlayer was giving me headaches. Now I'm dealing with some issues fine-tuning Emby and need some help: 1.How do I fix the UI when the series name is too long? The controls get tiny and annoying (pic attached). 2.How do I fetch the season title metadata like Plex does?

I have a new problem now, please help me. I am currently using folder.jpg image and person.nfo in the actor folder. Emby matches and displays the photo and actor information, but when I edit and update the actor folder again after matching, the actor's photo and information disappear. My actor folder is called miru. I deleted the miru folder in people and then added it again, but Emby could no longer recognize it. I tried refreshing the metadata and scanning the media library, and also tried refreshing the media metadata separately in the person interface - scanning for missing data. None of them can be recognized. How should I make the photos appear again? Is this a bug? @Luke
-
Where does emby store actor images when only local nfo is used. I found that there is no people folder under metadata. How should I add all actor pictures at once. Can I put all the actors' photos into a folder and let emby read it?
-
Out of nowhere, all my metadata images just stopped loading after a reboot. Some images do appear but its the wrong type Logs embyserver.txt

I have the version 4.8.8.0 of Emby in a docker container on a synology NAS. I also have the premiere 'unlock' if that even matters for this issue. Everything seemed to be going swimmingly until I needed to use the Identify option for a 3rd tv series, Wonder Woman. I had successfully accessed, and changed, using the moviedb id, the shows, Magnum P.I. and Speed Racer. The numbered logfile contains at least the Speed Racer alteration. Note that '_sanitized' just means I altered my username. It's the only user w/full perms. The media filesystems are read-only so there are messages indicating writes to the posters/background images in those filesystems weren't successful. That has not changed so I seriously doubt it would be the issue. I've monitored the log file (tail -f), clicked on the Identify option, and received the web error dialog but nothing shows up in the logs. As a point of "hey this would be a nice thing to log feature request", please make that a thing/why is that not a thing? The screenshot files are only for Wonder Woman, but I receive the same error for any tv_show or movie I attempt to access 'Identify' on now. Other metadata editing options, e.g. "Edit Metadata", work fine. Identify just seems to be wedged/locked out. I've also restarted the docker container w/no joy. Please advise. embyserver_sanitized.txt embyserver-63854110750_sanitized.txt

I swear the option was there before, searching the forum does not appear to show any other reports of this. Is there a reason we dont have TheTvDB as a Season Level MetaData provider anymore (Emby Server Version: 4.8.8.0)

Merci.

So Myanimelist has both the original and English voice actors for shows on their site. Recently I have been manually deleting and adding the English actors (as I only do dubbed) but it would take forever. I do have preferred Metadata as English but it makes no difference. Is there a way to have the info off Myanimelist pull the English actors rather then the original ones on dubbed animes pull and load? Would save so much time seeing that I am at about 30TB right now?? Thank you.

Duplicate Support for embedded mood tags for music tracks
smsamee posted a topic in Feature Requests
Music is an integral part of our daily lives, and its impact is often tied to the mood it helps evoke or express. I would like to propose a feature that I believe could significantly enrich the music listening experience on Emby: the addition of mood tags for music tracks by reading the mood descriptors from embedded metadata in music tracks, enabling users to filter and create playlists based on their emotional tone.
