So I've been using the delete option in Media Browser/Classic for around 3 years. It received the "wife approval" awhile ago. So, needless to say, when the feature seemed to disappear when I updated to MBC 129. So, digging back through everything on the KB and forum, I checked the XML's only to find the two fields set to true. But I took particular note of ebr saying it was being removed due to the danger. So, first question is, did delete finally go away, or is it just me? Second, so what does everyone else do about deleting tv shows after watching? Thanks all!

You know what everything works great, but I just felt the need to start a new thread to say that's a great implementation there @@ebr. Got to be honest I just can't get away from MBC, I mean I like all the other clients but I love MBC....

Hi there - I have hit a bit of a snag on the 3.0.117.0 update. The download/install process appears to complete properly. It starts WMC/MB3 Classic, sets the default theme to Chocolate but then notifies of an available update 3.0.117.0 to install yes/no? It continues to do this. I have uninstalled MBC completely, confirmed that the C:\Program Files (x86)\MediaBrowser\MediaBrowser\ folder was deleted by the uninstall process, shut down the server manually, rebooted, started the server, downloaded the latest setup.exe client file, and reinstalled. However, MBC Configurator and MBC report I am still running 3.0.113.0. The short install log C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-InstallLogs\mbc-install.log is below and indicates a successful install: MediaBrowser.Classic.Installer.exe Information: 0 : Installing Media Browser Classic MediaBrowser.Classic.Installer.exe Information: 0 : Attempting to retrieve latest version of MBClassic MediaBrowser.Classic.Installer.exe Information: 0 : Found 1 versions. When trying to use the play to function to play to MBC nothing happens. I'm not sure what logs you need, I'm assuming that you need the app logs (Which once I'm at home I'll send). As a side note doing the same thing from the web client on my laptop sending to MBC works as it should.

80% of the time when I launch MB Classic, I am getting the error "unable to launch media browser". It seems to be occurring more and more frequently. If I wait 20-30 minutes, sometimes it will allow me to launch, sometimes not. It is only replicable when I first start up the computer as I have to wait between 10 to 30 minutes before I can launch MBC. Windows 8 MB Server Version: 3.0.5083.27698 MB Classic Version: 3.0.100.0 B12-4.1 Problem occurs on launch of MB Classic either from desktop shortcut or from within Media Center. No error in Event Logs for the time of the errors. TOP TIP: Before messing with filters/decoders always create a system restore point and only do one change at a time and check the outcome before changing something else. A MUST: ONLY EVER INSTALL ONE CODEC PACK, always uninstall all others before changing packs There are many misconceptions that installing a codec pack will solve all your playback issues when it comes to Windows Media Center (WMC) and in turn MediaBrowser-Classic (MBC). If you think this then you need to read on. When MS released Win7 they incorporated a set of codecs and rules and these were neatly packaged under what they like to call the "Windows Media Foundation" (WMF) So what does this all mean. It means that they installed their own filters(codecs) under the System32 folder which don't allow you to alter the way that Windows 7 and 8 now decode various media containers. Bummer right? Yeah!!! In order to over come these MS niggles we need to disable these WMF codecs to allow for your new ones to do their work. How do we do this... Well lucky for you folks there is a tool available called Win7FilterTweaker (for both Win7 and 8) The FilterTweaker Tool Explained - A very powerful and useful tool!!! Did you know that this tool messes with your system files.... probably not. And that sometimes this tool fails to rename those files back to what it originally was... you probably didn't know that either. So basically you've broken your video playback in WMC and don't know what to do. What I want to do is let you understand what's going on, so you can make your own decisions as to what to enable/disable. (The screen shots below are for my setup. I install and register 2 filters direct into the sysWoW64 and System32 folder, then I use ffdshow to set up my codecs (this is advanced) and the FilterTweaker tools to set the merits of my codecs - that's beside the point, your setup will be different if you don't install the 2 filters). Firstly lets look at the Main Screen. MS Codec Tweaks I want to explain to you about this filter messing with your files. The middle Button in the screenie above (MS Codec Tweaks) is the culprit. Now WMC on 64bit systems runs 64bit not 32bit as is often thought. This still refers to the System32 folder on 64bit systems. So any file mishandling is going to occur in that folder even on 32bit system. If we click on MS Codec Tweaks one we are presented with this screen. I have disabled the Microsoft DTV-DTD Audio Decoder only. Be warned that if you disable the DTV-DTD Video Decoder it can Break LiveTV in WMC. So what has that little tick box done. It's renamed one of my system files from msmpeg2adec.dll to msmpeg2adec.dll.bak in the System32 folder in turn disabling it. Be warned that this may not work for you if you have UAC turned on, you may also need to "Take Ownership" of the files too in order to allow for the tool to rename. You can see I've highlighted the 2 files. These refer to the DTV-DTD Decoders for both audio and video. The rest of the options you can disable in the filtertweaker are also in the System32 folder and are highlighted below. Preferred Decoders - (Also know as filter merits) If you click this button you will be presented with something like this. I can easily prove that my filter merits are working how I want by using a powerful tool called GraphStudio || Download GraphStudioNext 32Bit || Download GraphStudioNext 64Bit All you need to do is download graphstudio, run the .exe file and drag and drop any media file into the big blank grey area under the icons. It will query the file and then produce a graph like this By right clicking on the In/Out nodes and selecting properties you can see everything that the filter is doing and what outputs you should expect. This is particularly useful when trying out new settings within your codec pack. If i change the setting in the filtertweaker tool to LAV filter (effectively changing the merit of the LAV filter to highest, as shown below) I can prove that the change has worked. I AM IN CONTROL!!! see how this is working now. MediaFoundation Button So you need to go down the "preferred decoders" list and assign another filter other than Microsoft in order for the following disabled filters to work. If you don't have another option in the decoder list then dont disable, in the Media Foundation or you will break that container. This is basically useful for MP3's and particularly .mov files(trailers in Mediabrowser). If you don't disable the .mov then trailers may have some issues playing. Also .avi's can prove troublesome with some codec packs. IMPORTANT: If you are new to filters/codec packs DONT install Sharks007 Codec Pack!! Its far to complex for the basic user and is way over the top for any codec pack. You need something with simplicity. LAV Filters seems to be about as basic as you can get but give you maximum playback facilities with some basic options too. Here are a couple of tutorials written by myself(FFDshow) and JonTheHTPC(LAV Filters) Setting up LAV Filters Setting up FFDShow I certainly hope that this has opened up your eyes to Filters and decoders and how they can affect your system.

Okay given that everyone is transitioning to MBT and WIndows 8.1 pretty much killed MBC, transcoding and extenders. If someone is willing, can anyone explain the transition from MBC to MBT for my setup, so I can play those other codec formats? (ie. MKV, etc.)

We have a "Movie By Genre" available, I see a feature request for "Movie by Year"...I would like to see a "Movie by Date" added that give the movies listed in reverse date order (new movies first). It got me thinking that how about add ability to have a "Movie By..." and let the user select the method. In some cases (Genre and Year for example) it is a grouping but in other cases it might just be a sort "date added for example". Could this be a setting in config that would let the user pick a couple of methods (or 3 or whatever) that is added to the home screen?. Thanks.

A setting in config that, when checked, would block exit from MBC (like some themes have done). It is very easy to hit the "back" button to many times and accidentally exit out of MBC. For me, it would be best to simply the block the action when checked since I use MBC exclusively on my HTPC. For other, perhaps a sub setting that if the block is enabled, a second check box would throw up a confirmation dialog and exit if the user selects "yes" (like what theme Crystal or Breeze is doing). I'd like to add a feature request to be able to have a Movies by Year collection in MBC in the same way as Movies by Genre is an inbuilt option.

In the ThemeVideo Backdrops for MediaBrowser Classic plugin, I would like to have the choice to fall back to theme audio (and static backdrops) after the theme video has finished. Ideally, I would like to play the theme video first then play the theme song on infinite loop while image backdrops rotate (at least until the screen saver kicks in). Thanks!

When I check the web gui, all the artwork (backdrops, folder jpg's) are correct, but when I open MBC - go to Games and sort by genre, it looks like it is pulling artwork from the IBN Genre folder instead of the IBN GameGenre folder. The only genres in games (in MBC) to have artwork are Action, Adventure and Horror which are the only same genres for both movies and games. And the movie genre artwork shows up for those game genres. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this - I cant find anything in the forums about this. All other genres are showing the correct artwork (movies, tv etc...), so I'm not sure if there is something I can do on my end or not. Any and all help would be appreciated! On opening the detail screen (play screen) the local trailer plays automatically. Is this intended behaviour? If so, can it be turned off?

I'm seeing a very slow response after watching something. The message THE (MB3) PROGRAM HAS STOPPED RESPONDING APPEARS in WMC. After about 60 seconds, MBC comes back and I can navigate again. Running server v3.0.5099.2102 & MBC v3.0.103.0 B12-19.1 When I send something to the MBC on my XBOX it plays fine. But the XBOX will start to go into power save mode and have to keep awake with the controller. Anyone else having this issue?

Can anyone tell me where to put the Favorites - Favorite TV folder artwork? I put the Favorites artwork under general in the iBN folder and the Favorite TV artwork in a folder in that folder but MBC is not picking it up. It is picking up the Favorites Artwork but not the sub folder artwork

First off, I'd just like to say thank you for all of the incredible work you guys have done. I have been using media browser since version 2.0, and MB3 is just fantastic. I will be contributing shortly. The iOS app is great, and I've thoroughly enjoyed using it on my iPhone 4s. The remote control functionality is useful for scrubbing through movies and TV shows quickly. I have noticed that browsing a large media library on my phone is much faster than using a remote and MBC/MBT. I think it would be great if I could browse to a video on my phone and then tell it to play in MBC instead of my phone, much like the way airplay works. I would assume both devices would need to have the same user logged in. So the "workflow" would be like this: Start MBC/MBT Open app on my phone Browse to a movie Hit "Play on device" and select my MBC/MBT session The video would automatically start playing in MBC/MBT Thanks again for all your hard work, Charlie

Hi, after the last server update I can not see my metadata anymore, only "chapters" to each movie. The movie counter showed around 370 now it showing 766 :S I've added a picture to describe my problem better. (attached file) *** This happens in MBT and Web ***** Also, if I go to "collection" and choose ex "blu-ray" then all the movies are shown properly. What is wrong? **EDIT** Okey, it's looks like it something to do with the way the server handles naming. MBT should ignore the "#". MBC is working fine, and so is the WEB-version if I choose a letter from A-Z and not the first "#". (as shown in the picture) MBT is showing all the movies correctly, but i need to scroll trough all the "chapters first" before it finds the movies from A-Z. I think this is the problem, and it is now more related to MBT.

MBC version 3.0.100.0 B12-4.1 (also happened with the previous beta version) Default theme I am seeing the thumbnails in the "last added" section of the main media library view getting smeared occasionally. I have not been able to perfectly replicate it, but it happens most often when I have the WMC / MBC window minimized and new content gets added to the "last added" section while the window is minimized. Once I bring the window back to normal, the smears are often there. They do not go away until I exit MBC and return, or something else causes the "last added" section to get updated. Note that I am calling them smears because they appear to have some of the colors of the actual thumbnail in them. White Collar looks like a white smear, Arrow looks like a green smear. The other two look like a brown smear, maybe the "average" of the pixels is brown?

New, much easier way to switch user profiles in MB Classic Starting with version 3.0.100.0 it will be much easier to manage a mult-user profile setup with MBC. As each theme gets it implemented, you should have an easy button somewhere on the interface to allow you to select a different user profile than the one you are currently within. The below images show where this button is in chocolate and the default theme. Subdued also implements this new feature. If you don't use one of those themes, ask your theme dev to get this into your favorite theme as soon as they can. This will make it much easier to manage multiple users and parental control settings. You can configure each MBC installation to automatically log on to the profile you use most often and then easily switch between it and other profiles as you wish. The next start of MBC will then go into your default profile again.
