  1. i have the same problem.. whats a remux? for some reason whenever i fix one library, another gets the error
  2. Added a dedicated GPU to the server, intel arc a310. I have not disabled the igpu on the amd5600g. Emby seems to have identified and chose the a310 just fine in advanced transcode settings. I have installed the complete intel driver packages afaik. Certain videos won't play in web browser on LAN, neither direct play or transcode, but play fine on nvidia shield tv pro. For the transcode I attempted to play a video with the rate set at 720p/1mbps. I turned on debugging in logs and attempted a direct play and got these 4 logs made. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-transcode-7c7f730d-a78b-47a8-9d62-8f5352d9e4cf_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-36783592-7a85-43f6-a7d8-408d0b7ed91e_1.txt ffmpeg-remux-dfaa5e03-3139-41da-a3a2-bc6d96c71aba_1.txt

    Hardware transcoding Arm64

Hello, Can someone confirm how I can setup hardware transcoding on Arm64 Docker? Nothing seems to mention how to here: https://hub.docker.com/r/emby/embyserver but I have had it working in the past on my Rockpi 4. Thanks, Liam
  4. Hi! @Luke, I am very disappointed with this latest Emby server upgrade. 1. The library scanning function has become unreliable. It now ignores .ignore files in directories and still adds media files that should be excluded. 2. The hardware transcoding option, which worked fine in the previous version, is now broken. The Intel QuickSync HD Graphics 610 option no longer works, forcing the system to use software transcoding. and only the VAAPI HD Graphics 610 interface allows for hardware transcoding. 3. There are also problems with the filtering feature. When filtering for unwatched content, some watched items are incorrectly included. I cannot tolerate this new version and have already reverted to version 4.8.11.0. I no longer have the energy to participate in the improvement of your product.
  5. So I use a Linux box with Docker install for Emby server. Approx 50% of the viewing is from a local device -- as fa as I know I have never had any issues like the following. I have users that use the server form many remote locations. It is a mixture of watching recordings and LIVE TV. My son got a new Firestick and started telling me that "Emby doesn't work". I have finally had time to troubleshoot as I am at the remote location. If I watch Emby from my laptop from the remote location there seems to be NO problems. However, if the remote location accesses the server from a Firestick - a problem only occurs with Live TV. If we play a certain channel it seems to work properly for a while but any manipulation of the Firestick, like checking "Stats for Nerds" or even eventually just time -- the screen goes blank and the Firestick locks up. But the weird thing is that I am no longer able to acces the server from other devices remote OR local -- in other words the Firestcik locking up causes or coincides with the server locking up. The only way to recover is to stop the docker container and restart it. I have some logs but I am not sure that I really see anything that sticks out. Can someone please help. This is a disaster because the server becomes unavailable for all users ADDENDUM: so I saw some other posts -- the wierd thing about this and BAD thing about this situation is that the server is locked up requiring restart, not just the indvidual Firestick client. embyserver-63892778411.txt ffmpeg-transcode-10320b13-459c-4524-bab9-a0f9dedefdc7_1.txt

    Structuring Music Files

Hello, I am importing music files to my media server which runs Emby. I have copied a couple of CDs and Emby can see them, but it does not sort it by Album. All the songs are listed independently. I must manually edit the metadata for each song for the songs to be grouped into albums. I followed the instructions to set up the file structure. The structure is /music/artist/album as documented here: https://emby.media/support/articles/Music-Naming.html?q=albums. The music files are copied directly from CDs in .wav format. Is there a way to edit files in bulk rather than one at a time? The Bulky Mass Metadata Editor does not edit music media files; only movie and TV. Or is there a better way to structure the filesystem? Another question: Emby will automatically fetch metadata for movies and TV shows, but it does not appear to try to fetch metadata for music files. I have enabled the metadata download feature, but it does not appear to work. Any help is greatly appreciated. Emby works great for movies and TV shows. This is the first problem I've had so far. Thanks.
  8. We recently added more storage to our server and changed from Raid 1 to Raid 5, which we didn't do correctly and a lot of stuff got wiped. But also since then, the Download function is not working. If I'm on an android or iOS device and select "download" or if I'm on any device including the web app and click "download to", the download is stuck in a queued state and won't continue. The selected device and the download quality don't seem to matter. Also it's the only download in the queue. I have tried setting up a folder to use as a temporary file path. I have tried running the conversion and transfer tasks. I have tried initiating the download from the admin users profile. Nothing has worked. What steps should I take to make sure the download function is set up to work correctly? The documentation doesn't appear to have any information on this, it's just supposed to work.
  9. Hello! So i have started a project for making an Emby client app that can run on Enigma2/Linux based STBs. Its written in pure python. Those STBs are mainly made for DVB perception, but also is possible to play media on them. Mainly they support by hardware H264 and H265 codecs. All the rest (except the newest high efficient codecs) plays fine by software. I am in the beginning of the project. Try to comply with the new Emby clients UI design guidelines and expectations, but also put my own twist to some places. Currently the only ready screen is the home.... Here is a preview...
  10. MUMC (Multi-User Media Cleaner) v5.11 Release MUMC (pronounced Mew-Mick) will query your Emby libraries for movies, tv episodes, audio tracks, and audiobooks. Then delete media items you no longer want taking up disk space. Cool! How Do I Use This? Install the latest release version. Customize your configuration yaml. Schedule MUMC to run periodically. Enjoy no longer worrying about how much disk space is left. How MUMC works: Use filter_statements or filter_tags to tell MUMC how to query your libraries for potential media_items ready to be deleted. filter_statements apply filters to specific media_types (e.g movies, episodes, audio, etc...). filter_tags use tags to apply filters to specific media_items and their children (e.g. movie, series, season, episode, album, audio, etc...). Use behavioral_statements or behavioral_tags to tell MUMC how to compare a media_item between one or more users to determine if it satisfies the criteria to be kept or deleted. behavioral_statements define the keep or delete criteria that applies to specific media_types (e.g movies, episodes, audio, etc...) and the specified conditional_behavior (favorited, whitetagged, blacktagged, whitelisted, blacklisted). behavioral_tags use tags define the keep or delete criteria that applies to specific media_items and their children (e.g. movie, series, season, episode, album, audio, etc...). Use the configuration builder/editor to select the desired combination of users and libraries. Individually select users and libraries. Select only users; all libraries automatically selected according to each user's access policy. Select only libraries; selected libraries applied to all users according to each user's access policy. Select nothing; all libraries selected for all users according to each user's access policy. Point MUMC to one or more instances of Radarr and Sonarr. When a media_item is deleted from Emby: Unmonitor and/or Delete movies, series, and episodes for Radarr/Sonarr. Configure how MUMC treats remaining episodes: Keep a minimum number of episodes regardless of played state. Keep a minimum number of played episodes to ensure the "Next Up" functionality works properly. Configure MUMC to keep or delete the remaining played episodes after the series has ended. Configure how MUMC matches a media_item to its blacklisted/whitelisted parent library: byId Default behavior. byPath Use when a library has subfolders that are blacklisted and subfolders that are whitelisted. byNetworkPath Use when a library has subfolders that are blacklisted and subfolders that are whitelisted. All subfolders must have a network share path defined.
  11. Emby Server Version: 4.8.11.0 Platform: Ubuntu 24.04 Backup Source: Windows Emby Server (restored using official Backup & Restore plugin) Issue Summary: After restoring my Emby library from a Windows-based setup to Ubuntu using the Backup & Restore plugin, I encountered a critical bug related to playlists: Some playlists (created while using Emby on Windows) appear broken in the Emby web UI after the restore. These playlists do not show any contents. When I try to delete such a playlist through the Emby web interface, the confirmation popup shows the location as /var/lib/emby. Upon confirming, Emby deletes the entire Emby directory, leading to total data loss. When the server restarts, it loads the new setup screen, as if it were a fresh install. Cause / Observation: Upon inspecting the playlists using the Metadata Editor, I noticed that the path of these broken playlists appears as: /var/lib/emby/data\userplaylists\Narayan Gopal [playlist]\Narayan Gopal.m3u This shows a mix of Linux (/) and Windows-style (\) path separators, which may be the root cause. It seems that the restored playlists from Windows contain malformed paths, and when Emby on Linux tries to delete them, it misinterprets the path and targets the parent Emby data directory instead. What Works Normally: Playlists created directly on the Linux server can be deleted safely and do not trigger this issue. Expected Behavior: Deleting a playlist should only remove the selected playlist's metadata or file. Actual Behavior: Deleting a malformed playlist (restored from Windows) deletes the entire /var/lib/emby folder, wiping the server configuration, metadata, users, and media settings. Steps to Reproduce: Create a playlist using Emby on Windows. Backup the Emby server using the Backup & Restore plugin. Restore the backup on a Linux-based Emby server. Locate and attempt to delete one of the imported playlists using the web interface. Observe the deletion prompt showing /var/lib/emby. Confirm deletion — Emby wipes the entire folder and resets to a fresh install. Impact: This is a severe data-loss bug. A user trying to clean up old playlists could accidentally wipe their entire Emby server. Suggestions: The Backup & Restore plugin should sanitize and convert paths correctly between Windows and Linux. Emby should validate deletion targets to prevent dangerous operations on critical directories. Playlist deletion logic should be made safer by enforcing directory boundaries. Please let me know if logs or playlist metadata are required. I can reproduce this issue consistently and would be happy to help provide more details.

    Wrong date on TV shows

I have a strange issue where the date on imported shows and even recordings are the date prior to the correct date. Example, a show aired on sunday evening the 6th, but Emby shows it as the 5th. Recordings from live tv are the same, a show recorded today shows the prior day. Its all shows I have (at least recent ones I can compare to a TV Guide). One such show is The Price Is Right, recorded and aired today the 8th, but Emby shows the 7th. The file system reports the date is today the 8th as well. System time is correct, in UTC time, confirmed with an online clock. It is the same looking at them via a browser, android or Roku app. All devices have the correct time on them. Other things are correct, like the EPG shows the correct time line for my local time and recording a live show goes off fine and on time. The same result using a different user account on the server. I know upstream data like from TVDB can be wrong, but it seems to be the same on everything I have checked. For the mentioned episode 128 of The Price is Right, the data on TVDB website is correct, today the 8th. Debian Linux 12, Emby 4.8.11.0. System is up to date. I rebooted the server and restarted Emby server a few times.

    Issues burning in ASS subtitles

Since updating to 4.8.11 when watching something with ASS subtitles while having the force burn in ASS subtitles option selected I will have to start playback twice before it starts transcoding. The first time I have to press play, and then it will just constantly show the spinning wheel but in the dashboard it will show it as playing via direct play. I then stop playback on the device and press play again and then it will start actually showing in dashboard as transcoding and burning in ASS subs. However in the logs both times it will show it as starting a transcode. This has only been happening in 4.8.11 it worked fine in 4.8.10 (Currently on mobile so unable to upload logs, however once at PC I will add them as a comment)
  14. I am moving from a Windows Server to Linux. Tried the backup and restore, but after restoring to Linux, the system just kept giving me weird problems. For example, it would keep telling me that library folders were invalid when I was changing them to the unix format. Got fed up with it all and decided to skip the restore process. Well, that certainly cleared up any problems I was having. Now, I just need to get select data from the old server and manually copy it to the new one--LiveTV Channel guide and my Recordings. Thankfully, all of the media is on a separate NAS and totally available. So... Looking at the windows box, I believe I need to pull some files from the Program Data folder: C:\Users\LocalUser\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata, and put them into the unix program data folder: /var/packages/emby/var. Which files exactly do I need to copy for Recordings and LiveTV channels? I am also betting that I may need to edit the data to use Linux paths as opposed to Windows. Thanks!
  15. edit: just noticed this is for linux. im on windows 10 latest beta. still happening. I'm seem to be getting/noticing now, this allot after running refresh on a library. if its because emby uses .net 2.0 and ffprobe uses the latest that makes sense for the error. so what part is actually not working then? since it does refresh the meta data. also couldn't we use an older version of ffprobe built with .net 2.0? if so do you have a link for that version of ffprobe ? and will that older version of ffprobe cause issues with other emby functions?

  18. So I had an issue last night with IPTV channels all going offline. I suspect it was related to my disk getting full. I resolved that by deleting some media to free up space but then I discovered that all the channel mapping to guide sources had been lost. I recovered from a backup and thought it was resolved as I had guide data back but I've discovered that that I have guide data but the channels are not mapped to the guide data source or guide data channel. When I try to relink the channel to a data source I can select the guide data source in from the dropdown menu but then the dropdown to add the guide data channel is completely empty so I can't select the channel data to link it as shown below. I've tried added new guide data sources and if it's one I've not used previously I can see the guide data channels but if I've used it already, even if I delete the guide data source completely it still comes up blank like above. I've also tried deleting them all and then restoring from a backup but its the same. I have some channels pulling from an xmltv source and that's all working fine. Any thoughts on how to resolve it? I am on version 4.8.8.0 is it worth trying to update to 4.8.10.0 and seeing if that resolves it? Can I then still restore from the backup made in the previous version? As I mentioned when I restore from a backup I do get guide data on all the channels but as soon as it tries to update the guide data during the next scheduled task it all disappears as the sources/channels are not mapped correctly.
  19. Hi everyone, I need some help with setting up an Emby Docker container on my Raspberry Pi 4 running Rocky Linux 9. I'm using the following docker-compose.yml: services: emby: image: emby/embyserver_arm64v8:4.9.0.30 environment: - UID=1000 - GID=998 - GIDLIST=39,998 volumes: - ./config:/config - /mnt/extdrivea:/mnt/extdrive - ./test:/mnt/test ports: - 8096:8096 - 8920:8920 devices: - /dev/dri:/dev/dri - /dev/vchiq:/dev/vchiq # MMAL/OMX on Raspberry Pi restart: unless-stopped I found that the GID for the video and render groups are as follows: getent group video | cut -d: -f3 39 getent group render | cut -d: -f3 998 However, I'm having an issue where I don't see the hardware acceleration option in the Emby menu. This is what I see in the Transcoding log: The issue is that I don't see the hardware acceleration option in the Emby menu. Can anyone please advise me on what might be wrong? What settings should I check to ensure that hardware acceleration is working correctly? >>>>>> Processing Plan Name CanDoInHW WillDoInHW Reason Copy video stream >> False False Software Codec VideoInput >> False False Not a hardware decoder VideoOutput >> False False Not a hardware encoder Copy video stream >> False False Software Codec I have purchased a subscription for this feature, and I want to ensure that hardware acceleration works properly. Can anyone please advise me on what might be wrong? What settings should I check to ensure that hardware acceleration is functioning correctly?

Extreme ram (120gigs) and swap usage

System Configuration: Processor: Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 v4 @ 2.10GHz RAM: 128 GB Machine Type: Rack Mount Chassis Operating System: Ubuntu 20.04.6 LTS Storage: HP P440, HP P840ar, HP LOGICAL VOLUME (multiple disks) Display Resolution: 1024x768 pixels Issue: Recently, I’ve noticed that the RAM and swap usage on my Emby server has suddenly spiked significantly. Previously, the RAM usage never exceeded 20-30 GB, though the swap would occasionally fill up. However, now the RAM usage quickly goes through the roof within a few minutes of starting the server, even after multiple reboots. Steps Taken: Rebooted the server multiple times. Problem: Despite the reboots, the RAM usage continues to escalate rapidly. I have attached the relevant logs. Request: Can anyone help me identify what might be causing this issue? Is there something wrong on my end, or is there a fix available for this problem? embyserver.txt
  22. Hi, I can't enable user playlists under Users > User > Access > Playlists The option appears greyed out with all users.
  23. Hello everyone, first of all I am new here and also in Emby, you will see me actively here often asking questions. I have a question, I have a proxmox server and inside 2 LXC one of jellyfin which is the one I currently use and another that I created a while ago to test Emby, I really want to see how it is because I have been told it is more advanced than Jellyfin and has more features and better clients, my doubt to all this is that my server has an intel i5 12500 with an iGPU UHD 770, currently I have by passthrough the 770 in the LXC of jellyfin and transcoding works perfectly and makes use of it if necessary, my question here is: In Emby will it also work the same way? or do I need a premium version? PD: this is how I have it configured in both Jellyfin and Emby, that's why I ask if I need the premium version to transcode or not.
  24. I was trying the camera upload feature in my android phone. When I enabled it for the first time on phone A, it created 6 libraries that points to /var/lib/emby/data/camerauploads. Huh, weird. So I deleted the remaining 5 libraries. It successfully deleted all of them. Then later that day, I also enabled the camera upload feature on my phone B. It created the same exact six camera upload library again, all pointing to the same path as before. When I am trying to delete all those 6 libraries, it just doesn't respond. So I tried deleting data/camerauploads folder, but it still won't delete. When I checked the log, it logs the delete command but then nothing after that. No error, no info. Nothing related to library deletion. I also checked the root/default folder, there's no camera upload folders there. This weird behavior is also causing full cpu load on my setup on every library scan that forced me to restart emby server to restore it's functionality. embyserver.txt
  25. Since the latest update we have been unable to stream live OTA channels to our ROKU devices. The only change has been the update to EMBY. Our OTA is streamed through a HDHomerun Extend which has worked fine for years. The Roku simply shows the spinner as if the show were starting then doesn't actually start. The spinner continues to look as though it were buffering or something, stops for a second or two and you think the show is about to start but then it starts spinning again and never starts. To complicate matters the same thing is happening when I try to play a Live TV stream over the network to another PC in the house which I've never had a problem with. It fails outright on the pc the spinner doesn't keep starting over it just fails and kicks me out to the guide. Again to complicate things further when I try to stream to my iphone it plays just fine. This happens both through the house network and remote network. So something is preventing playback just to the Roku and PC devices in the house network. I am running the server on a linux box, headless. I only get on it when I have to do an update. I run Arch linux, so I will need to make sure there hasn't been some other update that broke anything on the system but I've never had a problem with this since converting to Arch on my server in roughly five or so years so I don't think I will find any issues there but I will verify that when I get the chance. The pc I am trying to view live tv on is also a linux machine running Arch. I normally maintain my server setup from this other unit and have no issues but since the last update live tv is now dead... The thing is if there were something strange going on with permissions or something then I would think I couldn't stream to the iphone as well as the pc's and ROKU's but that isn't the case. So I believe the server PC is operating fine and there is a change to the EMBY server app that is causing the problem... Recorded TV and the movie library stream fine. This is only happening with Live TV... I have attached the logs. The last four attempts at play back are a failed playback to a ROKU device, failed playback to PC, successful playback to iphone both local network and remote. I hope I get feedback as it stopped entirely on another thread I had interjected myself into as I am not the only one with playback issues on ROKU since the new update... Honestly, if it were just me I wouldn't know it wasn't streaming live tv I almost never watch it. However, my wife watches it daily, DAILY. In the morning getting ready for work. In the evenings for local news, occasionally other shows she likes available OTA. So you can imagine how often I am being asked if there is any progress on this... Please help if you can. embyserver.txt ffmpeg-transcode-27ff977d-0d5c-48ce-ac6c-b2b5fe0d20d0_1.txt
