  1. I use the Emby addon (2.2.10) with Kodi (16.1) on an Intel NUC with rapid start enabled. This allows me to keep the NUC in a sleep/powered off state but still start up in a few seconds however this means that Kodi is rarely restarted. My Emby server is woken up with a wake on LAN add on upon wake of the NUC. I have noticed that when waking from sleep I do not get the Emby log on notification that I receive when I open Kodi fresh. This seems to effect real time updating of the libraries. Playback is not effected. This was not the case in previous builds of the addon where I would get either an error saying the server could not be reached or a welcome notification. Is this normal behavior?
  2. I installed the Kodi addon and let it scan my library in. Due to performance issues I decided to remove the addon from addon section in Kodi settings and after removing it, I rebooted and now I am getting "Emby error: check the log for more information". I am also getting a continual pop-up saying "To use this feature you must download an add-on: Emby Would you like to download this add-on?" I am not able to find any information on your site for removing this add-on once you install it and right now I am kind of stuck since I cannot get off this pop-up screen. When I hit no, it just comes back and asks me again to install the add-on. I really don't want to have to wipe my media center to remove this product. If someone could be of assistance of removing this product, I would appreciate it. Thank you.
  3. I have installed Kodi + Emby on a Sony Bravia TV (Android TV OS) The problem is, the Incremental Sync only runs when the app is first started. When an AndroidTV device is turned off, the system stays "awake" for 5 minutes - after this time, the network is turned off and the device goes to full sleep. Kodi is still running, but unable to receive new content broadcasts from the Emby server. So then when the TV is turned back on, the library remains out of date unless you fully restart the Kodi app or go to the Emby addon and select Manually Sync (but this is slower than restarting, and not 'incremental'). I don't know if the Emby addon can detect when the device leaves sleep mode or when the Network connection becomes active again - so the only solution I can think of, is to be able to manually trigger an incremental sync via hotkey. So I just need to know if there is a command in the Emby addon to trigger the incremental sync. I've done similar things with other addons, such as "<a mod="shift,ctrl">RunScript(script.audio.profiles,0)</a>", so it should be possible. Does a command already exist, or can one be added? It's the only inconvenient thing about this setup. Thanks.

Kodi not updating with new added media.

Dear Support, I am running version#3.0.5931.0 and since this update I've noticed that Kodi refuses to find new media added to my library. Up until this update Kodi had always found new media and done so instantly. However since updating the syncing with Emby has failed and not even restarting Kodi helps resolve the matter. The only way to update the kodi library at present is to do a complete Emby datebase reset, a time consuming process for me. I can not even get Kodi to sync if I try to do so manually from the menu options. Please can you assist? Thanks in anticipation, Lloyd

    Crashing on Apple TV 4

Love the plugin! I use it on my two openelec boxes with no issues. However, I just sideloaded Kodi on my Apple TV 4, and when the plugin starts up, it immediately gives me this error: I searched around for other topics regarding this message, and saw a recent thread where a dev posted an alpha build to try, I tried that one and got the same result. I was just wondering if the addon is incompatible with the Apple TV build of kodi or not. Hopefully my error log will provide some clues: http://xbmclogs.com/pqvqbvvps Thanks for taking a look!

    Using SPMC on SATV

I'm currently running Emby on top of the new SPMC client that as of now looks like it is going to be the future of Kodi on Android. So far it is running great, it can handle all audio passthrough and it even shows recommendations on the main screen. 8. Hi, I'm trying to get direct play to work for the movies that reside on my NAS via NFS. But Emby is unable to verify the path. The NFS path listed in the log below is exactly the same path that works from the file manager in Kodi. My Emby server is Windows 8.1 and cannot access the NFS share outside of Kodi, but this shouldn't matter because of the path substitution, correct? Is the Kodi client verifying the path or is the Emby server? Device sleep, crashing on wake

So here's my scenario: Kodi on HTPC, Emby on Server I always let the HTPC with running Kodi go to sleep while the Server is still active. The Server itself goes to sleep some minutes after this. The next time i wake up the HTPC while the Server is still sleeping, i get the known "Library Sync Thread has Exited" error. Shortly after this i get the notification from the Kodi Emby addon "Server unreachable". Imho this is a simple error in the logic how things are executed. The addon should first check for successful connection before starting the sync thread. If the connection is refused, then don't start the sync thread at all. I can attach the logs in the evening if you want some, but maybe my description is enough to find the culprit?!
  10. My initial sync on a new kodi install, I disabled music as my previous experience means it scans for almost 2 hours (15,000 plus songs). Going to bed, I re-enabled music sync and then performed a manual sync. Now every time I start kodi, it goes on a manual sync again, comparing my library to emby's. I have to sit for it to go through checking my songs. This was never my experience before now. It seems to that me performing a manual sync has sent emby into automation about doing a manual sync every time. I have repaired (force resync) my database, still same problem. Please give me a clue what to do about correcting this, surely this cannot be intended in the programming. Thank you.
  11. I have a number of media libraries in Emby which i'd like to display on Kodi's homescreen. Currently, in order to display these on the homescreen I need to edit the menu and add them each as their own shortcut, set widgets, submenu items etc. This is pretty repetitive and time-consuming, is there a way I can just tell it to automatically add all libraries to the homescreen and also add recently added/in progress/recommended etc submenus? Thanks in advance!

Unable to playback any content since update

I already commented in someone else's thread about my playback issues, but I don't want to hijack their thread, so posting here as well. Currently on Emby Server Version 3.0.5880.0 Synopsis of what has gone down so far: Updated to newest version of the addon (2.2 I believe it is) Was prompted to wipe/rebuild DB, and did Chose option to keep existing Emby settings Restarted Kodi on my Shield TV Tried to playback content and was presented with message saying content is no longer available, asked if I wanted to delete it (I said no) Reconfigured all Emby settings within Kodi (including re-entering network credentials) Performed manual resync Restarted Kodi Same problem exists At this point, I deleted the existing log file, ensured that Emby Addon was set to Debug level logging, restarted Kodi again, and tried to playback a movie. Here is the resultant log file (valid for 1 week): http://pastebin.com/3jZA6Duz I don't see anything in there about playback, but I'm not entirely sure that I know what I'm looking for. Hopefully this has all the details you need in it. If further logs are required, I will be happy to provide them. All of my libraries are setup using UNC paths to the network shares where the files reside. All of the network shares have been granted full access for the user whose credentials are specified within the Emby addon All of the media is stored on the same machine that actually runs Emby Server (does this mean that I don't need UNC paths?) I've tried entering the network credentials in the Emby addon when pointing to the IP address of the host machine, as well as using the computer name I've tried both add-on playback and native playback Any tips you can offer are very much appreciated!
  13. i do a fair amount of traveling for work and so i now travel with a pi2 or NVidia Shield tablet with multiple profiles for when i travel vs being at home and i use trakt.tv to keep my watched status and such inline with each other. question i have is how do i effectively "Disable" the emby plugin for kodi for only certain kodi profiles? for example in kodi i have x2 main profiles: emby_database (works perfectly with all my movies available locally when i am at home) and a traveling_database (no real library, I just stream from other kodi plugins). it appears that the emby plugin for kodi is "global" and that it installs for all users and when i'm traveling it always prompts me to setup the emby account. at home my emby server is behind a firewall and such so i will never really see that server from the outside world which is ok, problem is that i cannot seem to find how to disable this emby setup prompt my other "traveling_database" kodi profile/user. I looked through the forums and could not find another post similar to this one but i apologize if it is a duplicate. thanks!

    Cannot play music with DLNA

My media is on a Synology NAS. In Kodi I can play movies (direct stream) and play music (also direct stream). In my setup it isn't possible to play songs on my receiver trough DLNA Kodi. Is this correct? Because Kodi doesn't seem to find the media when I use DLNA. Play music and movies in Kodi itself is working. What do I have to change in my setup to play songs on my receiver trough DLNA Kodi?
  15. Hi all, I am using Emby server as a backend database for Kodi and occasionally for watching my content on my iPhone/iPad. I've set up 3 users (2 local users in addition to my main emby connect account) on my emby server and use 3 Kodi profiles, each configured to sync with the corresponding emby server user. Occasionally (not always) I find that when a movie is played and stopped using the "Kids" Kodi profile / emby user, the resume status is synced to my primary "Rob" Kodi profile / emby user. I'd prefer to keep everyone's resume state separate. I've made sure that the "additionalUsers" setting in the Kodi addon is blank, I understand (I think) this feature can be used to do exactly what I am seeing. Anyway, I will provide logging below (as well as the Kodi addon config for both users) for analysis. I'm not sure if this is a Kodi addon issue or a server issue so I'm starting here, I'd appreciate any help. Further Master Lock Findings

My saga with the master lock and disappearing movies in Emby continues, and I've found some items of note that others may have run into, so here you go. The findings are based on my system, your mileage may vary. They are presented for Kodi 15.2 and Emby 1.1.62, so take that into consideration. If you're interested in this thread on my initial battle with the master lock, read here: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/23065-how-i-solved-the-emby-and-kodi-master-lock-issue/ The rationale for multiple profiles with locks for some of them is simple: I'm not a single guy in my twenties running Kodi/Emby on one machine. I'm a dad with a teen and preteen who each have their own collection of movies and we, the parents, have some movies that are not appropriate for their age group. Not "adult" movies, just movies they don't need to see. I have movies on two servers, and several clients (PC, Apple, and Surfaces), so it's a bit of a complex ecosystem. Having the lock on Emby sources only won't work as they'd still be able to see the other movies (via the posters) they don't have access to, even if they cannot play them. OK, onward. My initial thread indicated that the one infallible fact was that Kodi needed a source file that pointed to a dummy source, otherwise enabling the master lock just didn't work. The other finding I had was that you had to set up your profiles first, and then allow Emby to do a full scan for each user, and then enable the master lock. Well, that was then, this is now... since then Emby and Kodi have both upgraded their software and so I gave it another shot. Things I have found out: You can indeed create profiles, then the master lock, and then additional profiles later, and still have everything workPreviously creating any new profile after the "dummy" source file was created kiboshed my whole system It does not matter if, when creating new profiles, you choose to copy the default skin settings or not Sharing the same source does not seem to matter anymore, unlike the first try I had at doing this; this may be because the later Emby builds now add the dummy source files once a scan is complete No matter what I do, if I choose "local paths" as a playback option in Emby, and enable the master lock, I see no movies. Don't ask me why. Copying the thumbnail folder from the master profile and dropping it as a junction to the other profiles in Windows saves disk space Once the master lock is enabled, it doesn't matter if you create new profiles and exit the system, or load them right away (unlike my previous experience) I found that the default in Emby's settings to enable the Cinema mode to be problematic, sometimes resulting streams that will not play... turn it off and the system is just fine. Other profiles can have their own lock codes I've tried this on three skins: Confluence, Arctic Zephyr and Titan, and all have minor issues, but work well for the most part. Once you create a profile and use local paths in Emby, you are hooped for that profile. I tried turning them off and resetting the local Kodi database via the Emby settings, and it had no effect for me. Finally... if you don't see any movies in the profile, go to the power menu (at least in the confluence skin) and enable the master lock and your movies will reappear right away. Very odd. You will have to do this each time you load that profile though. The key to everything so far for me is to leave local paths off when creating new profiles. It seems that Emby and the master lock do not get along well, and changing this one setting has solved my problems. So far. If anyone has been able to get local paths to work with multiple profiles and the master lock, I'd be interested in hearing how you did it. I suppose the other question is ... does the local path playback really matter?
  17. Hi, I am using Kodi v15.1 on Windows 10 with the Emby Addon v1.1.39 installed but the issue I am having is since this latest update to the add-on I cannot play any media. I select to play the media but nothing happens sometimes you get the dialogue opening stream but then get the failed message which says check logs. Everything seems to update OK for example when you add new media it pops into Kodi. I am running Kodi with the latest Emby add-on update on a Android box and FireTV stick and all are now failing to play media. I have attached the log file.
  18. Hi, I'm good with a PC but not a coder...so patience please : ) I have succesfully installed the Emby server, Kodi (15.2) and the "Emby for Kodi" Add-On (repository) in Kodi. However, the Kodi content is not appearing in the Kodi window of the Emby server (see screenshot). I watched the ''Emby for Kodi" tutorial by xnappo and the Kodi content seemed to magically appear in Emby...am i missing something??? Do i need to use the "path substitution" to direct Emby to Kodi? If so, what are the path settings? I tried to set-up a movie folder using "network" to select the entire server (Joan-Dell) but after i exit the ''Add Media" window, no folder is created. I can create a folder containing my local (PC) videos by selecting server/Users/my name. Thanks for your help and for developing this open source media server...i look forward to watching movies from Kodi via Emby & Roku on a big screen : )

Can not play video in Kodi (and a bit more)

I have a setup with a pc running Emby media server and all my media (movies, tv shows and music videos are relevant for this question) on the local hard drive, and a laptop with Kodi and the Emby for Kodi addon. All video files are coded in H264. I have set up path substitution for all main folders like this: From To /home/hpb/Videoklipp/Filmer //Programbank/Videoklipp/Filmer The machine name is Programbank. When I use the Emby web interface on the laptop everything works as expected, but I have some issues in Kodi. Of all my 29 movies, Kodi will only play one. It will not play any music videos or any of the few TV episodes it sees. All music plays fine. A while after I have tried to play the following message pops up: --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- One or more items failed to play. Check the log for more information about this message. --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- I have a log file from a session where I do the following steps: -Start Kodi -Try to play a music video (ABBA - Fernando) -Try to play a movie (About A Boy) -Play the only movie that will play (Flåklypa Grand Prix) -Try to play a TV show episode (The Thorn Birds ep 1) -Exit Kodi Log file: http://pastebin.com/Zqt2BnwK Does anybody understand what is wrong here and how I can fix it? I have searched the forum for solutions and have found several similiar threads, but none with my exact problem and none of the suggestions have helped me. Also, about TV shows. It seems like Kodi can't see episodes that are in season folders. Can this be right? According to the wiki I should be able to use season folders: http://kodi.wiki/view/Naming_video_files/TV_shows
  20. I am having issues playing 3D movies in 2D mode, i still get side by side when i play using the kodi 16 beta 4 on android. i have tried on android tv and samsung galaxy Note 3 and both have the same issue, i have made sure that the file is direct playing and it works on windows 10 Kodi. Kodi recognises the file as 3D content and asks if i want to play in 3D or 2D, 3D works perfectly but when choosing 2D the interface stays in 2D but the video is playing side by side. any help would be greatly appreciated. i have checked the logs and have seen no errors, it shows the SMB address it is playing from.

    Library Issues when syncing

I am currently running the emby server and I have two Kodi devices: 1 New Firetv and Idroidnation box running 5.1 Lollipop. Both Kodi versions are 15.2 When Running the emby add-on on Firetv , everything worked fine.. The library for Kode shows movies and tv shows on the main Kodi screen.. The Idroidnation box, not so much... It show emby under the video tab and I have to pick it to show the movies, sorta like when you share on an uPnP share. I have cleared and re-installed the add-on a mess of times, same outcome... Is this suppose to work like this on the android version of Kodi?? I am new to Kodi, I used to have Dune devices with My Movies, but Dune died and I could not resist the Kodi Interface anymore... Love Kodi and this software... Just wish I could get it to work the same ... Any Help would be highly appreciated.. Sandmaneo
  22. I think I solved the Emby and Kodi Master Lock issue. At least, it has worked for me since June 28, 2015 with no apparent negative impacts. CAUTION/DISCLAIMER: This worked for me on a networked dual server source/multiple client setting. I cannot guarantee it will work for your specific set up. Here is a step-by-step of what I did, and some tips and pointers I learned; I am doing it from memory a week after the fact, so I hope I didn't forget anything. Please feel free to shoot anything down if you wish. My whole reason for doing this was to have multiple profiles that were protected by passwords (one for the master user, one for parents) and multiple profiles without protection, but restricted in Emby, for the kids Set up your first profile in Kodi, including your skin settings. This will be the master user profile. Install the Emby plug-in and restart Kodi, and then scan your library Exit the program once the scan is done. Do NOT enable Masterlock yet! Create the other profiles you want, but for each one, choose the media info to be separate and the sources to be the same. When I kept the media info the same, the child profile I created for my son could see the poster for each movie, but not play them. I wanted the posters to be out of the way altogether. You may want to set all of your settings before cloning your profiles. I did not and it was painful later on because I was adding and removing the same sources over and over to create the menus the way I wanted. Let Emby scan the library for each user Exit the program. Install a dummy sources.xml file in the master user folder. Here's the file I used: <sources> <programs> <default pathversion="1"></default> </programs> <video> <default pathversion="1"></default> <source> <name>dummy one</name> <path pathversion="1">smb://kore/dummy new/</path> <allowsharing>true</allowsharing> </source> <source> <name>dummy two</name> <path pathversion="1">smb://kore/dummy viewed/</path> <allowsharing>true</allowsharing> </source> </video> <music> <default pathversion="1"></default> </music> <pictures> <default pathversion="1"></default> </pictures> <files> <default pathversion="1"></default> </files> </sources> Here is the most important part of the sources file that worked for me: I needed two dummy sources. Each time I used only one, it never worked. Don't ask me why, I do not know. You do not need to have any real paths in the file. If you do, Kodi will actually scan those paths and if your skin shows library totals, it will be off because of double-counted movies. Create symbolic links to the file for the other profile folders, or create copies. Either way works. Start Kodi and log in as the Master User Enable the Master Lock Exit the program Log in as another user and you should be able to see your movies. All Emby movies will be under the "Movies" section of your skin, and not under Videos. You can set lock codes for other users as well, or leave them blank. Hints and tips: If I had to do it all over again, I would set all settings first and then clone the profiles. Before cloning, I would remove “videos” from the shortcuts, and the ability to add sources: I also removed the parent folder visibility because clicking on that in the skin would kick me right out of my customized menu and into the "Video" part of Kodi. It's also a good idea to add sources to various movie collections (if needed) for all your movies at once, and then clone. The reason for this is that it is easier to add everything and remove them from the custom skin shortcuts for your cloned profiles (one action, "delete") than to add a new shortcut ("add a button", "choose a shortcut", "browse to source", "add source"). Here's what mine looks like: I hope that helps some other users out there. As a Dad, it's important for me to keep the parent movies away from my kids, and I like to have two separate locked accounts so one can act like the admin. If you have any questions, let me know. I can't promise a quick response, but I'll try.

Emmy plugin causing 100% CPU usage

I don't know what happened between yesterday and today. I turned on my box today and it was virtually unusable. The interface is stupid slow. After some troubleshooting I was able to disable the Emby plugin and that rendered my machine usable again. I kinda remember being on version 1.2.60 and after looking today it reads 1.2.62 which led me to believe that an update might've triggered this behavior. The only other thing I've been trying to do is to include my music library to which I have had zero luck with, while all me music is portrayed thought the web interface it does not appear on my kodi setup. setup: intel nuc > openelec 6 > emby 1.2.62 feeding of windows based emby server. Unfortunately i was not logging this but I've had zero issues since I set this up months ago. Any insight is deeply appreciated! TIA!
  24. Hello. I recenrly switched to Emby from a Kodi+Plex setup. A unified library is really handy, and Emby for Kodi is miles better than PleXBMC, however, the mobile devices don't work as well. On this page it says that direct play is only supported with H.264 encoded video in .MP4, .MOV and .M4V containers, however, Plex offered direct playback of H.264 in an .MKV (it still had to transcode when selecting subtitles, even .srt's, but that's another story). Is this feature planned? I can just use Kodi on a jailbroken iPad, but the interface clearly wasn't made with touchscreens in mind. Thanks in advance

Here an example of playlist: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="yes" ?> <smartplaylist type="movies"> <name>Films-Azione</name> <match>all</match> <rule field="path" operator="contains"> <value>Movies/Films/Azione</value> </rule> </smartplaylist> the full path is the following \\192.168.0.11\Emby\Movies\Films\Avventura\ Before the upgrade all the movies inside the folder "Avventura" were selected now none is found.
