    Android Emby connect

    I recreated and opened ports however in android using emby connect I am stuck in a loop with no idea or prompt concerning what the fault is. See attached images: 01: I Choose Emby Connect 02: I enter my credentials 03: I am brought back to the first screen again. Am i missing something obvious? I will also attach a log. embyserver.txt
  2. My girlfriend thought she was being funny when signing up with a username that goes along the lines of user@.com. Yes, she wrote that as the username. Don't ask me why. She was smart enough to put a valid e-mail address in the correct field though. So far I haven't encountered any other issues than not being to able to add her account with the username as the server probably recognizes is as an e-mail address.

    Cannot access server outside LAN

    Hi all. I know this same question has been asked a number of times, but I have so far been unable to find a fix for my situation/setup. I recently purchased a lifetime membership for Emby based on using the software to watch movies/shows locally (through my chromecast) at home. My 'server' is a PC running Windows 10 and I have my media located on an external hdd. I am using a TP-Link Archer C3200 router. I have been trying for the last week or so to figure out how to access my library remotely with no luck. I have tried via the iOS app (sign in with Emby Connect and no dice) as well as on a couple different laptops. So far I have tried/looked into the following: - confirmed uPnP is enabled on my router - confirmed automatic port mapping is enabled on Emby - created inbound rules for Windows Firewall to allow ports 8096 and 8920 on my server - assigned Reserved IP address for my server - set up 'port forwarding' via virtual servers (external port = 8096; internal IP = 'Reserved IP address from above'; Internal Port = 8096; Protocol = TCP) (also did the same for 8920) - confirmed that 'allow remote connections to this Emby Server' is enabled - canyouseeme.org CANNOT see my service at ports 8096 or 8920 Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Header Login Failure

    Hi I have a quick query i'm hoping someone can help me with. I have an Emby Server up and running and can access the content via the device where the apps are installed (Nvidia Shield), however when trying to log in via other devices, when using the Emby connect method I am getting the following error message. 'HeaderLoginFailure - Invalid username or password. Please try again'. I am familiar with media servers in general and know my username and password are 100% correct, I have reset the password on multiple occasions thinking it was a simple password issue and can log in on the Shield but am still unable to log in elsewhere. I have also set up an additional user linked to my account to see if it is an issue with the user profile and allowing remote access is enabled in the advanced config but I'm still getting this error message. I do occasionally have a VPN in use to change the IP address and have tried connecting with the VPN on and off but it has not worked. One of the other devices I am trying to connect with is an Android mobile phone. The curious thing is I have been able to connect via the phone previously, if it has never worked I'd put it down to user error but am now stumped, does anyone have any suggestions?

Het "Sign Up, Sign in and Enjoy" werkte tot het stukje enjoy. Zodra ik m'n emby server van buitenaf wil bereiken geeft deze geen gehoor. -Ik heb een Emby Premiere Key -Lokaal connecten werkt -De Emby server versie is -Router is een Experiabox v10 -User confirmatie mail is geactiveerd Het connecten van buitenaf werkte wel met de concurrentie btw. Edit: ik kan via het linkje in je mail https://app.emby.media niet connecten, maar die ik dit via http:// ipv https:// dan werkt het wel.   6. I have all of the users on my Emby server established with Emby Connect accounts hoping this would be easier since I'm dealing with non-tech savy individuals. But I'm having an issue with users being able to connect remotely. All of the users have the same permissions and access, but they are getting this error message in one form or another an all devices (apps and web browsers) But I can log in remotely without issues, using either my Emby Connect email address or username. I've actually even temporarily changed the password of an individual user and signed in as them, when they were unable to from a Chromebook Browser or Android App. The error that they are seeing is after they log into Emby Connect and select the icon for the server and select "Connect". The Emby Server.txt logs doesn't even seem to recognize that these users attempted to log in. Any help would be greatly appreciated. UPDATE: I purchased Emby Premiere thinking that maybe it was a device count limitation. This proved to be of no effect. Now a device and user that were able to log in before are unable to log in now.
  7. So, I'd really really like to like Emby; this must be about my fifth or sixth time trying to. But: as long as connecting to Emby over a Synology DDNS address is mindboggingly unreliable / completely random, Emby will never win against Plex. I'm not even thinking about the acrobatics needed to have a SSL-secured access to Emby running on my Synology, or the almost criminal carelessness of Emby standard security settings*. I've tried unsuccessfully at least a dozen times to connect to Emby server running on my Synology box using Emby connect on the app.emby.media URL. It kept telling me about the server not being reachable – all the while I was connected to the same server, directly over the same Synology DDNS URL, in the next tab. At some point it did successfully connect, for no apparent reason whatsoever. tv.emby.media never worked, just kept telling me either "login using emby connect" or that the server cannot be access – again, while I was logged into this very Emby instance directly over the Synology DDNS:8096 URL, and using app.emby.media. I don't like where Plex seems to be going at all, but it really does work, 100% reliably, while using a lot less resources on my Syno box. Does connecting to Emby using a Synology DDNS work reliably for everyone else here, or do you guys just enjoy tinkering with stuff? * 1) leave the Admin user open and accessible to everybody on the whole internet with no password whatsoever as standard, until one creates another user 2) newly created user also is accessible without any password until one switches accounts and adds a password to this new user... thats just... I'm at a loss of words for what I think this is.
  8. Hello there I'm pretty new to Emby and have the following issue. I have emby server version 3.5.3 on a synology DS 211 NAS running DSM 6.2.1. I'm having three issues which I suspect could all be related. These are: 1 - I'm no longer able to download images (for backdrops, thumbnails etc) from the Themoviedb but I can from FanArt.com 2 - I keeping getting a "Check for plugin Updates failed" - I've attached the error information for this 3 - Every time I try and save my Emby Connect user name to my profile I get the following error message "There was an error performing the requested operation. Your server is unable to contact our Emby Connect Server at https://connect.emby.media. Please ensure your server has an active Internet connection and that the communications are being allowed by any firewall or security software you have installed." I've checked my ports on my router and I have the following ports open as far as I can tell 8096 and 8920 TCP 1900-1901 and 7359 UDP Any help/advice would be appreciated. thanks Paul Got It embyLogFile.txt

    Emby Connect Issues

    So I don't know if this is the right place to put this but here goes. I am the admin for my family's server and am not able to connect one local user to their emby connect account. I have even gone as far as to remove the local account and readd using by attempting to invite the user by both emby connect username and the email address they used to sign up for emby connect. No matter which way I try to add the user the server always pops up with the following message There was an error adding the Emby Connect account. Have you created an Emby account? Sign up at https://emby.media/connect. If you're still having an issue, please send an email to apps@ from the email address used with the Emby account. I double checked that the spelling was correct for the email address by attempting to sign up with the same email I was inviting and it would say that that email is already in use. Checking the username, in the same way, yields the same result. I have been able to add other users both before and since first attempting to add this particular user. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
  10. Emby on Synology DS216play with DSM 6.2.1 I have been using emby server on Synology has for a few months now. After a recent reset of NAS ( reinstall) and install of emby server, It fails to connect with external services. At present I am unable to add emby connect ID, search for meta data, check for updates to emby etc. It's like emby wouldn't connect to internet. I checked and internet is working fine on nas. I don't recall any extra settings to enable emby to access internet. Is there any? Could it be that these are related to problem may be at emby's end.? This is what error message I get when emby tries to check for updates.     Emby Connect

    Hi all exciting times.. just installed emby and running it for the first time. As setup starts he ask to eventually create a "Emby Connect" account. I'd like to know/understand if or not I really need one. The linked page doesn't show any particular info, so I thought to suggest that it would be nice to add some, or perhaps just a faq? Cheers
  12. I'm experiencing a strange issue in which I can't access my Emby Server through Emby Connect, but I can directly using the local IP address. Specifically, when I attempt to use http://app.emby.media/connectlogin.html?mode=welcome, I get the following screen... wing screen... It started immediately after an automatic Emby Server upgrade (to 3.4.1, I think). I don't know if that was the cause or if that fact was purely coincidental. Has anyone out there seen this before? Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks! Marcus
  13. Sorry if this is a common thread, I tried to search and only came up with people unable to access anything remotely. I have UPnP & NAT-PMP disabled on my router for security reasons. I have forwarded 8096-8097 to different non standard ports in my router also for security reasons, thats just how I do most services and it works fine. To be clear I did not change the default ports in emby, I'm using my router to put them on a different port over WAN. I also have a dynamic dns assigned to my ip. Using myIP:mycustomport or myservername.asdf.com:mycustomport in a browser on a remote computer works perfectly. I have also been able to setup emby for kodi remotely using one of the above. However I have been attempting to add some guest users so they are not messing up my library as far as what has been watched etc, and cannot edit the metadata. I don't need emby connect to keep track of my ip since I have a dynamic dns as stated above. However it seems like its going to make me create a Emby Connect account. I made a Emby Connect account and it cant get to my server, I've tried the IP and the dns address (of course I put the custom port in). Under Expert-Advanced in the server dashboard I see there are settings for both local and remote ports. The only thing I can think of is that Emby Connect needs the same port its connecting on to be configured as the remote port. Everything else is working fine with NAT translating the port as I said above however. So I tired changing the Public http/https ports to what I am using. Emby Connect still wont work. (normal remote connections still work fine). Then I also redid my port forward so its going strait though on those custom ports (same internal and external). Still Emby Connect cant find my server.. AHHH!! Is there some other ports I need to forward or something for Emby Connect? Why is it the only thing that can't find my server. After every change I retest connecting remotely in a browser and everything I do always works. (Sorry for super long question, I'd rather give all the info at once)
  14. Hello, I have been trying to set-up Emby and allow remote access with docker containers. No matter what I do I cannot connect from any app including the web app. If I put in the URL it will connect just fine as long as force SSL is not enabled, if force SSL is enabled then I get an error that there has been too many redirects. I have looked at the posts about setting up remote access and setting up reverse proxy and nothing is working, I am not sure where to begin any help would be greatly appreciated Thank you!
  15. I'm running an Emby server from home. I have a few friends that I have shared my server with. They signed up for Emby Connect accounts and I added their usernames via the Emby dashboard. I've noticed for some reason, no matter which user logs in, it takes them to a screen that shows every other Emby user that also has access to the server and you can simply click on one of the users and get access to their Emby account. Users that do not have admin access even appear to be able to select an account that does have admin access and can then access the dashboard. How did I achieve this state? Is it because I added them as users and not guests? None of their profiles have the "Allow this user to manage the server" box checked, so I don't understand why this is happening. Any help would be much appreciated.
  16. Hi all, Having a bit of a strange issue here, only started happening recently ~last week or so. If I use Emby connect through the app.emby.media link, it allows me to sign in and shows my server. Once the server is connected, it loads 'infinitely' by which I mean no errors come up but it doesn't display any media. It's only doing this on external connections as it works internally absolutely fine. Strangely enough, the Emby mobile app connects fine and I can use the IP address within the server dashboard to direct connect off-network and that also connects fine - it's just Emby connect which is behaving strangely. Steps taken: Restarted Emby - updated to most recent version ( Rebooted server Rebooted router External ports checked and open, the server sits within a DMZ on the router and has a static internal IP. I removed the server from Emby connect and re-added it - that connects fine internally but still not loading externally. Replicated issue using Android browser on Cellular connection IP address matches in the server dashboard fine. Oddly enough, the dashboard does show that the user is authenticated in 'Recent Activity' but they never get presented with any of the Media containers. User permissions not at fault as the same user (my own) can connect directly and view everything instantly. It's worth noting that I've recently re-added in my media libraries after clearing up drive lettering, so the recently added items are quite full - I've tried disabling them from displaying and the issue is persisting. I've attached my server log and the screenshot from my mobile showing the infinite loading screen. Any help would be appreciated, everything points to an issue with Emby connect but as it works inside my network I'm honestly not sure what's causing this - as the direct IP address works, we're using that as a workaround for the moment. - Koame server-63651237892.txt
  17. I gave my account info to a acquaintance so they could access a server im not in control of. I no longer want them to use my profile. How Do I remvoe their specfic device from my emby connect account. Ive tried changing the password but they are still able to connect to it somehow.

    Emby Connect linking issue

    Hi, I'm not sure if this is a bug or not... but, I have tried to add email addresses to user accounts (including mine), but Emby Connect is not recognising them. Usernames work fine though. Any suggestions?

Definitions: Local refers to HTTP/unsecure External refers to HTTPS/secure For local use, I really see no reason to use passwords but for external use, passwords are critical to prevent anonymous access (only want a handful of people to access it, not the ~7 billion people on the planet). What I expected going into this is that only Emby Connect enabled accounts would show up through HTTPS and they would require the Emby Connect credentials to log in. What I got was the same as HTTP: click a name and you're in. So, what does Emby support now in terms restricting access to the world other than NAT routers and requiring all users to have password? If I have it about right, then consider this a feature request (probably should move it to Feature Request forum).
  21. Not sure if this is the right place for this topic. I have been having a problem for a few weeks now where I cannot login to Emby Connect when I am on a mobile data network. When I am at home on my network or at a friend's house on their network I am able to login with no problems. But if I turn wireless off on my phone and connect to the phone's data network, I cannot login. The problem is the same if I try to login to Emby Connect via a web browser also.

    Emby App in Winphone

    Hi, I am a Premiere member and I have set up Emby Server mainly in order to use it with my (several) Kodi installations. It works just fine with my over 4.000 Movies and 20.000 TV episodes. (Even though setup process took several days in order to get it perfectly working and understand all parts of the Emby Server system) Now I have tried to setup Emby in my Windows phones and must say that I am extremly disappointed with the "Emby App". It has several huge problems desribed below. Optional there is also Emby Theater but it is mainly intended for use on TV or Home monitors that are bigger so it is not so nice and easy to use on a phone. Emby Theater works and let you login with Emby Connect and it let you play movies without any problems or limitations. However Emby Theather seems less developed than Android App. Final option is using Microsoft Edge internetbrowser which looks nice and is funtional BUT does not let you play any movies (not supported) and it does not let you go fullscreen. Problems with Emby App: First problem is that Emby App refuse to login with Emby Connect so I don't get full functions as I should have as a lifetime Premiere member. (More about login problems below). As it is now I can just play one movie per day. Second problem is that the Emby App for Windows phone is not all all so nice like the same version for Android. Menus and pictures are oversized and makes it look ugly and difficult to navigate. It also has problem to handle my big Movie collection and shows simple archive maps instead of nice Movie covers. (Which is not a problem in the Android version of the same app) Listing of movies is shown in "List view" instead of Androids nice looking "Cover mode". Some navigation options are not functioning (bugs). Example going by "Folders" from homepage you cannot open your maps inside there. Touch a map and "nada" happens. Windows App is also missing the nice and functional menu buttons that you see down in the Andoid version. (Meaning that you actually cannot do as many thinigs as in Android) Third problem is that Movie player get stuck on one and the same trailer and refuse to play anything else. So I can not even see my 1 alllowed movie. And I cannot try another movie because of the limitation. Summary is that the Emby App for Windows Phone needs a major upgrade and as it is for now. Emby Theater is the only working choice for a Windowsphone. To ask people to actually buy the Emby App in Microsoft Store is actually nothing but a robbery. (Pay for such shit - really! Come on it should be free until it has same functionallity as the Android version. Here follows some details of the problem with Emby Connect and Emby App: Emby App (not Emby Theater) refuse to login with Emby Connect. Reading the forums and google around I have tried several things. Connect with internal end external WIFI network makes no difference. Using the phones 4G also does not work. Trying with server external address as fixed IP number or dynamic DNS makes no change. I have used a Windows 10 Phone Lumia 950 XL Dual and a Windows 8 Phone Lumia 920. Windowsphone 10 version = 10.0.14393.321 Windowsphone 8 version = 8.10.14234.375 I actually also created a second Emby account just in order to try if something was wrong with my account. But I could not login with Emby Connect from that new account either. Also I cannot login inside the app with Emby Connect (after login by skip) P.S. I did upload the logs from my Win 10 Phone.     manual login possible bug

    hey i´m using the latest beta and during a reset i tried to log in manually but was not able to i am on a shield and only have a remote, and the emby connect dialog that allows you to manually log in does nbot respond to remote, but the emby connect login dialog works fine

    External Access

    Hi, I currently use emby on a windows server as an internal MediaCenter with Emby for WMC client. 2 users are created - 1 for my kids without any password allowing them to access easily to all the stuff they like through the remote command + TV - 1 for parents with a very simple numeric password that we can enter with the remote control. The idea is to disallow kids to watch films and series that are not for their age Today, I would like to active external access to let friends access my media library from the internet. So I activated Emby Connect which works great. But, as I entered a nat rule in my internet box, It opens access to my server from the outside. So anyone that scan my IP and tries port 8096 is able to access my medias through my kid unrotected user ou through the very simple parent user password. So, I would like to use emby connect but to disallow direct http access on my external public IP adress with kids and parents user (that I still need to be viewable from emby for WMC client. I do not want to enter manually login/pass from my remote commande . Is it possible ? Other Idea : Today, When I use TeamViewer, I do not need to open any incoming nat rule on my internet box to connect my PC from the outside. I do not know how it works but I suppose that my PC has a permanent outgoing https connection to teamviewer cloud that, then, let me connect to it. Would it be possible to have this kind of functionnality in emby ? Emby server would have a permanent connection to the emby cloud that would let emby connect users to connect it. On the other hand, it would not let direct http access on 8096 port for other users ... Thanx
  25. I am using Windows 10 on all my laptops. I have been trying since last night to get Emby on a new laptop. 1 laptop is simply for the main Emby server...it works just fine. Another is my personal laptop and it works just fine through an Emby Connect Account to the main Emby Server. However, this account that I am posting from now...I am trying to get it connected to the main server account and it is not working. It is the new laptop (Windows 10, Dell 3000series) I have taken off my Norton Security Suite and tried everything. No luck. I have enabled and disabled Windows Firewall. I downloaded Emby and installed onto laptop. It connects, just not to my main server. I have also uninstalled it to. When I try to connect and send invites from the main server, I get the email, click the link and get: There was an error adding the Emby Connect account. Have you created an Emby account? Sign up at https://emby.media/connect. Please ensure the Emby account has been activated by following the instructions in the email sent after creating the account. If you did not receive this email then please send an email to apps@.media from the email address used with the Emby account. I have Emby Premiere.
