  1. I've been trying to lock down parental controls as much as possible on my server. The existing tagging and rating system is definitely helpful in that, but it's either allow or block as far as tags. Some older movies that don't follow the modern rating system are rated as "Approved" which falls under the most permissive setting. Some of those movies aren't necessarily young kid friendly. In contrast there are a handful of kid friendly movies and shows above the lowest rating that I would like them to be able to see. The only method I've found to be 100% effective is to not use ratings at all and manually tag items to allow access. This get tedious very quickly with large libraries.
  2. Hi guys I don't know if this counts as a personal request, but I think the number of categories it identifies and generates, whether it's a music genre or any other type of media library, exceeds the real usage needs. I understand that you can choose which categories to enter by default in the Home Screen, but the problem of too many categories still exists. I want to customize the ability to hide or remove unwanted categories, which can simplify the UI and reduce unnecessary information in the field of view.
  3. hi, Is there a way in emby to disallow transcode in 4K? I want it to be possible only in 1080p, but transcoding a 4K with a 1080p existing does not make much sense, in addition to the high CPU consumption involved in converting a 4K versus a 1080p. It would be nice if there isn't a way already available to limit the transcode and only allow direct play without having to separate the 1080p library from the 4k. Maybe a message that this content can only be played in direct play would be nice. I have 4K content that takes up a few GB since they are web-dl and other 4K that take up much more since they are UHDRemux, so sometimes you can play the web-dl in direct play but not the UHDRemux since the bitrate It is very high for the device.
  4. Over time, we have now arrived in 2024. To meet the increasing demand for better viewing experiences, Blu-ray resources are growing, with higher quality and clearer visuals. However, I am perplexed as to why you do not support Blu-ray playback. This is causing me a lot of frustration. I have seen many users on forums troubled by issues with Blu-ray files, and more and more people are using automated media downloading programs. The majority of downloaded films are in Blu-ray format, which could pose challenges for administrators. With the rapid development of the internet, downloading a Blu-ray film only takes about ten minutes. Often, users have no choice as the program automatically adds Blu-ray file downloads. Please embrace the evolution of the times. We need more advanced decoders. I am also a paying user, and I hope you can update support for Blu-ray files to enhance our user experience.
  5. I would pay 50 bugs extra for a good implementation (with maybe 5 settings but not like the unusable 5 subtitle sizes from screen is full to micro size is there anything ... they should be near. for me, without avr directly on TV, it's difficult to watch a movie / show. not only the new ones and action. maybe also a little equalizer and voice levels up... all possible. but my ask is for a drc. that would rock
  6. Say you have a playlist with about 200 files in it (the early, good Simpsons for example). You put it on random but the same episodes keep coming up every time. PITA. I know we can take played items out of a playlist manually but a quick 'Remove All Played' option would be useful. Cheers!
  7. Hi How to stop user from change home screen layout
  8. I am trying to move from Plex to Emby. From what I can tell Plex and Emby handle "Users" completely different. With Plex I can add users to my "Home" and give them access to certain libraries I can also add friends and give them access to certain sources. Once I sign into a device it shows the users in my home I can then select my account and enter my pin. So one sign in brings all my family members onto that device so they can all use it. My "friends" do not show up on my devices. With Emby I am having to sign each and every one of my family members into each device. Is there a way to accomplish a Plex like "family/friend" experience with some plugin? Or am I not configuring something correctly when adding users?
  9. Hi, There needs to be a way to improve the scanning speeds I already posted about how large music libraries are not playing well with Emby and getting a lot of errors, that is slowing down an entire library scan to unbearable slowness. Splitting a large music library into multiple smaller ones doesn't improve the situation as Emby still does linear scanning. I now have 15 smaller music libraries instead of 1 large one, however if i add a single item to library 3 Emby will scan all 15 library in order, as a procedure to find the singular updated item in one library. This is a waste of time, resources and it does not follow the metadata settings in the library settings. The logs are filled with entries of Emby attempting to update metadata, despite the libraries set to never update metadata after ingest, and because of all the errors thrown items do not scan in correctly the initial time. Things like images, year or other embedded metadata are ignored. While Emby is throwing errors about music, it will not scan any other library, This never ending error situation can result in 20 hour plus scans of the media library. It is slowly becoming an untenable situation. What I would expect to be done, is for each library to be monitored individually, and when there are new items then the singular library would be scanned. For instance it makes no sense to scan Movies when TV is updated; why are Music libraries treated differently? Why is there no time out on operations that are non-stop throwing errors? Why is there no parallel function so that different libraries can be monitored and scanned simultaneously? I looked around and found an older post from Feb where @Happy2Playstated that "music libraries with different setting does not work properly as configs for one affect all. So adjusting all libraries corrected my issue with no Discogs calls." It seem that there is a legacy issue where all music libraries need to be configured the same? That sort of highlights the issues I am pointing out here Is that config limited to the metadata and refresh settings, or is it both the metadata, refresh and the folder structure settings? Thanks

    Volume on PC (Theater)

@LukeSmall request but highly needed.. To aloud to control Volume from Mouse Wheel. I use my PC and Theater and all other Players I can click on Volume and use my Mouse Wheel to Turn Up or Down the Volume but not in Emby Theater, I have to do a Left Click on it (Volume) and hold + move it Left or Right.. Should be Easy to implement and very convenient, please.
  11. Having an option to mark an item 'Not Interested' so it stops showing it as a New Release or Available, instead of making it Played. Marking it PLAYED messes up the 'Suggestions' And it is not cool/nice to the viewer all this New Items showing, and there is no way to remove them from there unless either NEWER items come after, or mark them as PLAYED. For example, I have users that may request shows/movies that I am ok with approving, but I really don't care for them to take place as New Release under Movies/TV Shows/Music/etc. Having a simple check-mark, like the played one, but does not mess up the 'Suggestions due to watching/hearing this played item'.
  12. I would like to see subfolder support for extras/ bonus features. From a file organization standpoint, sometimes it makes sense to group certain extras together, unfortunately Emby does not show these in the movie extras section.

    Offline Playlist Support

I would like to see the ability to download playlists completely for offline use. Currently it just downloads the individual videos.

    Size on disk

Is it possible to show size on disk in extended information? Thanks.
  15. On YouTube, and a few other streaming services, if you hover over the volume controls and move the mouse scroll wheel up or down, it will adjust the volume level accordingly. This is easy to implement and would make volume changes a lot more intuitive for those who are used to streaming services with this feature. It's something that I've gotten used to doing and not having it just feels weird
  16. It would be great if there were a voting system for movies and TV series (episodes) so that Emby users could vote. This way, the movies would have a new rating based on the opinions of Emby users. Also, it would be beneficial to have the option to filter based on this rating. Thank you very much!
  17. It is possible to add an option to start the channel without showing the schedule first. At the moment you choose the channel and show what is on at the moment and then start the channel. I would like to start the direct channel after selecting it in the channel grid
  18. Now convert media only support to choose codec and quality. Please add support more such as max & min bitrate, max resolution and copy subtitle. That can be great to manage medias
  19. One of the security issues of having my server in a public-facing enviroment is a "brute force" attack where various passwords are attempted against the server to gain access. A good security policy to adopt is if, after 10 or more failed attempts, the IP address is blocked from further login attempts and the date/time, IP address, and account name is logged for viewing by the server administrator.
  20. Hello there ! Maybe I did not find a config somewhere, but is there a way of having a global preference regarding langages & subtitles languages, and also, is there a way to keep the same setting between all the episodes of the same tv show ? Flow : - I watch the first episode of a TV show - I setup my languages preferences for subtitle and voices - I go to next episodes, they are not kept - Same for a further episode when i will add it The trouble : - Open emby - Launch an episode - Realize the language is wrong - Changing it : somes lags occurs (because my android tv is old) Thx
  21. Server 4.8.1.0, Windows Server 2022 (21H2, 20348.2322) After upgrading to the 4.8 series, it seems like there is a regression in how episode numbers are detected. Specifically, it seems to be overly aggressive when scanning for multi-episode names. For example, a file with the following name: Dragon Ball Z - 01x19 - Defying Gravity (Digitally Remastered) (x264 - 2E253212).mkv ... makes Emby believe that it is a multi-episode file from episode 19 through 253212. As a result, it causes the scan to grind to a crawl, as it tries to get metadata for all those episodes, regardless of whether they exist or not. This definitely wasn't the case for pre-4.8. Besides renaming all the files, is there something I can do to get the previous behaviour back? Thanks!
  22. Hi can we please have an option to detect and skip the credit sections of each episode, in TvShows? ** same functionality as the skip intro Also can we have a config option on how much time is taken after the detection (cutoff point) ? In most tv-shows the cutoff of the intro is too fast, and we are loosing precious scenes in the beginning (very annoying) for example in Law & Order. Thanks! PS: I am a lifetime member of Plex, now jump to Premiere Emby, looking good so far, fixed all my transcoding issues I had with Plex.. Some features are missing (from Emby) until it becomes the best app in the market space!
  23. Hi. I'd like to request a category for I guess you'd call it "Radio". I have a ton of Old Time Radio shows and dramas I'd like to bring into Emby. I'm just not sure what I'd call them at the moment to make sure it all get indexed in a way that made sense.
  24. I really like the "Latest" feature on the Home screen — there just are not enough, 18 videos and 16 photos. Can this be increased to, perhaps, 50 of each. (Or better yet, could it be User Definable through Settings?) Thanks for your consideration.
  25. I have searched for something similar on the Forum and found nothing. Not sure if this is an easy addition to the code. Since it appears that the Emby Server start-up procedure hits a point where all the plug-ins are loaded, would it take much to add a toggle to NOT load any OPTIONAL plugins that are not part of the core system? I could see this as being a great help in troubleshooting problems. Or could optional plugins be stored in a different folder. Then if you want to try a "Clean" system you could simply move/rename the plugins folder. Just a thought.
