Fixed problem in playback with DV and HDR10 in Android client 3.2.91
Fabian2101 posted a topic in Android TV / Fire TV
Fixed problem in playback with DV and HDR10 in Android client 3.2.91. ¡Please also fix client for Android TV! I want to notify you that the problem with playback, with the previously mentioned files of Netflix content, which contain DV and HDR10, in my case it is completely solved, the playback is direct and without any transcoding, but for the moment the solution It is in the client for Android tablets and smartphones with version 3.2.91. The successful test was carried out on my Philips 55OLED873 television with Android TV 8, on the Xiaomi Mi Box with Android TV 9. Unfortunately, the problem persists in the client for Android TV, and what I use the most is the client for Android TV, on my four television devices to watch movies and episodes of television series in HDR quality. I attach the screenshots, where you can see my Emby server, doing direct transmission with HTTP, without any transcoding: How long does it take, also to repair the client for Android TV? Will you issue a statement or notification to inform that the client for Android TV is also already fixed? Do you know what version number the client update for Android TV will have, when it's already shaved?- 5 replies

Hi All, I have Emby for Android TV beta installed on my A90J. I have a couple of MKVs with Dobly Vision only and they correctly display the video (no purple tint etc) and the picture settings on the TV show the Dolby Vision Dark/Bright options as expected.. I have then tried playing a file with both Dolby Vision and HDR10 but Dolby Vision isn't picked up. I understand I need to upload logs etc but can anyone tell me from where? Thanks

Wondering what the general state is regarding both of the above in Emby. Most of my watching is via a Sony TV KD-55X9000F, fed by a Shield (just got a 2019 model) and sound out to a Samsung HW-N850 with extra rear speakers. I'm 99% certain I get HDR but never Dolby Vision. The only Atmos I've ever played (according to the display on the front of the soundbar), is from Dobly Atmos demo files. Should I expect anything more ? I'm playing ripped 4K movies done via MakeMKV and the result is a (big) MKV file. According to their website Vision and/or Atmos is being worked on. They talk about testing stuff with a custom Exo player in Kodi. Should the custom Exo player you are apparently working on here https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/88485-android-mobile-3124-testing/ help with any of this ?

Hi @@ebr, I am currently using custom mediainfo icons for CoverArt, of which there is one named ddplus.png, I ended up duplicating this and naming it eac3.png, it for some reason is not being used and as a result I have a lot of tv episodes and some movies which do not display a codec icon. The mp3 icon doesn't seem to display either.

Hi All I previously had emby server and emby(WMC) running on win 7 machine all worked fine , PC was getting old (10yr +) so i have changed to a new I7 win10 computer with good graphics SSD drives etc etc, I installed emby server and am using emby theatre with my media , all is ok, all videos are playing ok and dts in films is fine over the optical pass through to my AMP. However I have a large 5.1/DTS collection which sounds great when played through the surround sound and worked perfectly with the old set up but the new plays the 5.1/DTS files too fast, peter Gabriel sledgehammer plays back like he is part chipmunk. Is this a known issue , or is there something I can do to correct this. on the old setup I had Sharky installed that handled all the decoding.

Adjust bitrate for transcoded audio such as Dolby AC-3
Charlie117 posted a topic in Feature Requests
I'll try to keep this feature request short and simple. When the Emby server needs to transcode audio to make it compatible for the Emby client, it will use a hardcoded value for the bitrate that cannot be changed. For example, if the audio gets transcoded to Dolby Digital AC-3, it will always use a bitrate of 384 kb/s. This value cannot be changed, even though Dolby Digital AC-3 allows a maximum bitrate of 640 kb/s. Although 384 kb/s is a decent compromise between quality and data, it is very compressed and the quality is far from being transparent. The same thing applies to every other audio codec the Emby server may transcode to, such as AAC. So the request is simple, allow users to specify the bitrate that should be used for transcoding audio. Thanks, Charlie- 70 replies

“Always” audio setting in new Oreo update for Xiaomi Mi Box
Richard Branches posted a topic in Android TV / Fire TV
On June 25 2018 I received the most awaited Android Oreo update to the Xiaomi Mi Box, which brought enhancements and new features, one of this features is an audio setting called “Always”, an option to force the device to pass-through digital audio like Dolby Digital and DTS, useful for AV receivers with ONLY optical audio inputs: This setting works perfect because I was able to hear legacy Dolby Digital and DTS audio from the optical audio port but with Dolby Digital Plus I got no sound, so this may be by one of the following reasons: 1) The device doesn’t have a Dolby Audio license to transcode or convert the Dolby Digital Plus bitstream into legacy Dolby Digital, despite the Dolby Audio logo is advertised on the package and at the first boot screen of the device. 2) The transcoding or conversion is supported by the device but Emby also needs to support this new implementation in order to work as expected, this is similar to Windows 10 which supports Dolby Audio but apps must also support it, for example, the Edge browser has support, the Netflix app has support, the Movies and TV app has support, etc. The Dolby developer website has more information: developer.dolby.com I hope Emby devs review this and try to fix it. -
WMC Player - Audio format wrong and forward / rewind not working
maeffjus posted a topic in Windows Media Center
Hi Everyone, I'm using Emby for a longer while now, but I got one new and one older (longer existing) problem (bot in WMC with Windows 10): Just a short overview of my config / systems: I got a HTPC with an i5 6400 with 8GB of RAM running Windows 10 and the media center installed. This is connected via HDMI to a Pioneer VSX-830 surround receiver (with 5.1 speakers), which is connected to a 65" LED TV - also with HDMI. My media is stored on a dedicated server - running Windows Server 2012 R2 with a i5 3550 and 32GB of RAM with all my media in a 5x3TB RAID6 volume. Emby is installed in newest version on both server and HTPC. Both are connected via Gbit network. On both system I have installed Shark007's codecs in newest version and set the Audio setting to HDMI (the upper of the 3 options - these are: HDMI, SPDIF, Analog). I do not use transcoding on the server to the HTPC. 1. (The new problem) The sound played from Emby is only played in stereo - no matter what the sound-track of the source is. I mostly got MKV files from which most of them are in 720p, some in 1080p - most with either DolbyDigital or DTS. This is very anoying. When I watch TV from WMC, the output is equal with the input - so TV-shows with stereo will play in stereo and stuff in DD will be played with DD. Also when I open some movies in VLC on the HTPC, the output is exactly as it should be. So what can I do to watch my movies with apropriate sound? 2. (The older problem) When I watch any movie with EMBY on the HTPC, the fast forward / rewind / skipping forward etc. is not usable. Any button-press just doesn't initate any action. I use a second display to show TV-station names etc, on this it only says "stream". In the past (with the old local version of the Media-Browser) all of this has not been a problem. It doesn't change if I use the old or the new-style player. How can I fix this? Resuming also doens't always work.. Thanks in advance and best regards, Matthias -
Hello, I'm using Media Browser Theater version 3.0.5435.35761 with LAV filters 0.63.0 and noticed that MKV files with Dolby TrueHD track are being outputted as PCM 2.0 even though playing the same file through both Windows Media Player and MPC-HC with madVR are able to bitstream Dolby TrueHD correctly. MKV files with DTS-HD track are bitstreamed correctly through MB Theater. Another thing I noticed is that in LAV Audio Configuration menu if I uncheck all bitstreaming formats and apply these settings, this is done through the icon that is displayed after enabling ShowTrayIcon in MB Theater, and then replay movie again all the check boxes are rechecked. In windows the audio configuration is set to 2 speakers and I have the Audio Bitstreaming Mode set to HDMI in MB Theater. According to the log it shows bitstreaming is enabled for Dolby TrueHD. Is there a setting that I need to adjust to get MB Theater to bitstream Dolby TrueHD or is this something that is still being implemented? Thanks, theater-63551939643.txt
