    Playback issues

Hi, I wasn't sure where to post this, as I don't know whether it is a server or client side issue. I've recently replaced a failing SSD in my Windows 8.1 server and reinstalled Windows and Emby Server, along with Media Center Master. For the last few weeks I have been encountering issues with streaming videos to Edge on Xbox One and now Chrome on MacOS 10.11.6. The video will start playing fine for a few minutes then pause, sometimes it will continue, others it will just stay paused indefinitely. Originally, I was only having this issue with playing Friends ripped from Blu-Ray, as the MKV's were a direct stream rip from the Blu-Ray at full bitrate. I started re-ripping them to a maximum bitrate of 8000-9000mbps which solved the problem, but now it is happening from downloaded TV series as well. I have pretty much given up trying to watch anything from the server now as it is too frustrating with the frequent pausing. What can I do to solve this?
  2. I am experiencing the problem precisely as described in this topic, except only in Chrome and only when requesting the actual stream file (https://myserver/emby/videos/id/stream.webm?morestuf). All other pages (logging in, navigating, cover art, ...) work fine in all browsers. I am running Emby 3.0.5821 and use Nginx as the reverse proxy. Firefox and Microsoft Edge work fine but Chrome does not. Using the exact same setup, Firefox sends the Authorization header on all pages while Chrome does not send the Authentication header on its request to the stream file (https://myserver/emby/videos/id/stream.mkv?morestuf). One difference that I can see is that Chrome is asking for a stream.mkv file, while Firefox is asking for a stream.webm file. The result is that instead of my video, I get a popup that sais "Video Error There was an error playing the video.". The popup appears to be a recent addition to Emby, because I updated Emby before making this topic and before the update the popup was not there . Screenshots of the requests made by Firefox and Chrome are attached.
  3. I've been using Emby now for about 5 months. A month or so ago, my server got reset and I'd been too busy to get it up and running again until today. After a bit of putzing, including a uninstall and reinstall of the lastest stable server, everything seems to be working except for accessing the server dashboard via Chrome. When I access the server via localhost or my IP address on port 8096, I'm getting a blank page that appears to be the black Emby page background. No images. No menu. No error message. Earlier today, I was able to initially access the page to set up the server via Chrome, but it seems as though once I logged in, the next time I tried to access it all that would load is a blank page. The same thing happened when I tried to access via Chrome on another computer... first time, I was able to select the user, log in, everything was good. Then the next time I tried to access the server, I got a blank page. I've also tried MS Edge, which loads the page as it should every time, so it seems to be something unique to Chrome. I've tried clearing cache, cookies, etc to no avail. I've also tried disabling all Chrome extensions and updating Crome. Still no luck. Any idea what could be going on? I did not have the issue with Chrome a couple of months ago. Thanks, Tara Emby server version: 3.0.5933.0 Server OS: Windows 10 pro Server log: (attached) server-log-63597703674.txt
  4. I occasionally watch live TV at work from my Emby server at home using Chrome. I'll go through the guide, select a show, then click play. The Live TV stream starts and plays for about 3 seconds then freezes. I change the quality from 360p to 240p and then the video streams normally. It doesn't matter if I start the stream at 240p either. If I start at 240p it will also stop after 3 seconds, then I change to 360p and it streams fine. Not a big deal since I know how to get it to work, but thought somebody may offer a setting change that may keep this from happening. I have tried on Firefox with the same results.
  5. I have always used chrome in the past to access my media and played content via the browser. Just noticed today that I'm not getting surround sound. I spent a lot of time updating drivers, messing with settings etc. It works fine when watching movies from my cable provider. Finally narrowed it down to chrome and firefox. Using IE I can hear sound on my surround speakers. I have an AMD Radeon HD 5500 video card with HDMI out to my AVR, so it handles audio. Running Win 8.1. If I go into my windows sounds configuration it is set to 5.1 and the test sounds each speaker. Also if I play using an external player like MPC-HC, sounds work in all speakers. So not sure what is going on now. Any ideas? Is there a better way/experience to view movies on my main media PC? Several years ago I used to use media browser theater I think it was, but switched to a browser which was easier to use for navigating etc with a wireless KB/Mouse. Thanks

    Issues with subtitles

There are some issues with the subtitles I'd like your thoughts on. I have not been doing any extensive testing, but it shall seem the issue at least arises during playback using Chrome webrowser. Quick, rough testing done with Emby Android App on a couple of files, reveal the issue seems not appear there. I have only done very basic preliminary testing, but it shall seem that SRT subtitles embedded into an MKV container does not function the way one would expect it to. I am referring to browser Chrome and Emby 3.0.5781.8. I have in my profile set English subtitles to be chosen during playback. During testing on at the very least 5 video files, I encounter more than one issue. First, during video playback, the english subtitles are applied as expected, but they are applied twice; meaning, each line of subtitle is repeated twice. That is, the subtitles are duplicated. Line 1 would be repeated on line 2 or line 1 and 2 would be repeated on line 3 and 4. If i weren't so damned lazy, I'd provide a picture of how it looks. Furthermore, it would seem that changing the subtitle language doesn't work with the embedded SRT subs. That is, I change the language via the menu in Chrome, but the expected change is not applied. It would appear there's no way to change them at all. Additionally and although it's been stated, it will seem that files with embedded subtitles are processed significantly slower than those files who are without subs. I suppose I am wondering whether Emby Team has planned an overhaul on the system that takes care of embedded subtitles. I acknowledge that my testing has been very limited and there are things I could have missed, but the issue is so dominant that I'll have to find ways to make it more performance and user friendly. Could my options be of looking into ways to exttract subs from the mkv and make them external? Or would you know if the issue arise due to the MKV file itself containing embedded subtitles? Thank you for your consideration, Thomas
  7. Hi All. I've recently transitioned my Emby Server from my Windows box to a Docker within UnRaid 6.1.6 on a Dell T20 Xeon e3-1225v3. The Server is running Version 3.0.5781.5 I'm trying to direct play from my main system running Windows 7 x64 Chrome 47.0.2526.80, but every video I've tried has transcoded instead of direct playing. Some are due to bitrate (I'd be interested in how to adjust this limit), but most are reporting back the following in the server log: 2015-12-09 09:03:53.9325 Info App: Profile: Unknown Profile, Path: \\Galaxy\TV Shows\The League\Season 1\The League - S01E01 - The Draft.mkv, isEligibleForDirectPlay: True, isEligibleForDirectStream: True 2015-12-09 09:03:53.9325 Info App: Profile: Unknown Profile, No direct play profiles found for Path: \\Galaxy\TV Shows\The League\Season 1\The League - S01E01 - The Draft.mkv (server-63585219811.txt, transcode-05c5fd09-a231-4e3a-ad55-83d6fc9b7231.txt) The League S01E01 Video CodecH264 ProfileHigh Level31 Resolution1280x720 Aspect ratio16:9 AnamorphicNo InterlacedNo Framerate23.97602 Bitrate5287 kbps Bit depth8 bit Pixel formatyuv420p Ref frames5 CABACNo Audio Languageeng CodecDCA ProfileDTS Layout5.1 Channels6 ch Bitrate1500 kbps Sample rate48000 khz DefaultYes transcode-05c5fd09-a231-4e3a-ad55-83d6fc9b7231.txt server-63585219811.txt
  8. When I try to manage my Emby server via the web interface using Chrome, it doesn't show images correctly most of the time. When I use something like Firefox, it works fine. Is this something that is being looked into? Example: http://i.imgur.com/HaBMDSj.png
  9. Hello and thanks in advance for your assistance, I have tried to access my server from three locations upon install: (1) localhost browser, (2) LAN browser and (3) remote browser (I haven't installed any clients yet, still getting things fine tuned). For some reason, even though everything appears fine on the server PC's browser, some images/GUI is not appearing on my laptop which is accessing the app through the same LAN. Even more strangely, I have used TeamViewer to view the interface from a remote PC at my work and there are no problems there--only on the laptop using the app on the same local network as the Server P.C. I cannot understand this behavior because I am using the same Chrome browser with identical extensions across the board. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The first image is what I see on both the Emby Server P.C. and the remote access work P.C. The second image is what appears on my laptop which is on the same network as the Emby Server P.C.
  10. Hi there, I installed the emby plugin in openmediavault (2.1.8) (debian wheezy 7.8) on my HP N40L (8 GB) (details seen in the following pics) and I'm quite impressed :-) One thing is bothering me: I can open on my "photos" and see all my indexed albums. When I click on one specific album, I see the following: When I point on an individual photo and click on the dots and then on "metadata info" I see So far, so good. Even when I click on "phoito info" I get, what I expect: But when I click on the photo right from the album view, I get a (nearly) blank screen (even after waiting minutes, although wired through 1 gigabit). I can not see any corresponding entries within the logfile. So what can I do? Any helpful recommendations are quiet welcome. Thanks in advance.
  11. This is just a small cosmetic issue but it's been bugging me for a while. In Chrome (but not in IE), when viewing the detail page for an episode or a movie, a scrollbar almost always appears even when the overview is quite short. Strangely, if I zoom to up to 110% or down to 90% the scrollbar disappears. Here's an example:

    Error message saving metadata

I have been having problems with the web client showing properly in Firefox, so though I would give Chrome a go, Everything seems fine until until I go into Metadata Manager, and try to save some changes. I am getting the following lines in the server log: Application Path: C:\Users\Andrew\AppData\Roaming\MediaBrowser-Server\System\MediaBrowser.ServerApplication.exe Unable to cast object of type 'System.Security.Policy.Zone' to type 'System.Security.Policy.Url'. ServiceStack.HttpError No Stack Trace Available
  13. The Web Client in any of my computers under any browser display the subtitles. But when I open the Web Client in a mobile device under the chrome browser app (for some reason I can't log in in the safari browser) never displays the subtitles. Both under the same user's settings. Any suggestions will be appreciated
  14. I recently installed MediaBrowser on my Mac (which is now running Yosemite). After the installation completed, the setup wizard automatically launched in my default browser, which is Chrome. After completing the setup wizard, I went to take a look at my media, but I was greeted with a blank screen with absolutely no graphics. Even my photo that I had uploaded for my profile was missing. Thinking that the server was still processing everything, I decided to give it a while and just check back later. When I came back a few hours, I was greeted with the same blank screen devoid of any graphics. I deleted the cache and browsing history in Chrome, but still nothing showed up. For some stranger reason, I decided to try to access the server using Firefox. A few minutes later I was looking at a screen full of movie posters. Even my uploaded photo was present at the top of the screen. A quick check of Opera and Safari yielded the same result...everything looks fine in those. So I decided to move on to the mobile clients. I downloaded Mark's MediaBrowser Android Client, and was unfortunately met with the same lack of graphics that I had on my Mac when using Chrome. However when I try BubbleUPnP or MediaHouse-Pro on the same Android device, everything seems to work just fine and all of the graphics are there. I moved on to my iPhone and tried the Media Browser for iOS client, then on to my iPad where I tried the Media Browser Client and all appears to be working fine there. My frustration is that Chrome is my default browser on my computer, and my Android phone is my primary device (and I want to use Mark's MediaBrowser Android Client as my default Android app). I rarely carry my iPhone with me, and I don't want to have to take my iPad with me every time I think I might want to watch a video. I want to be able to watch movies on my Mac using Chrome and use the MediaBrowser Android Client to push my movies to Chromecast when I'm away from home. Any suggestions? I've already tried a fresh installation, following the steps listed on Page 2 of the installation faq, but I'm still getting the same issue. I'm at a loss. Hopefully one of you can shed some light on the situation. Post includes screen shots illustrating what I've described. Log files from the new install done today are located in the attached zip file. 15. Hey there! So I recently discovered Media Browser for Chromecast. Now while this is great, I did my research and found that I would be able to stream media, from my computer, using Media Browser server, to Chromecast, via Chrome.... Sadly, I haven't been able to find out exactly HOW! How do I go about streaming to chromecast from chrome using Media Browser? as you can see from the photo I have attached...Chromecast Doesn't show up...

  17. Hi Devs and Supporters - I just wanted to say thanks for the recent server and plugin releases that are making MB3 better and better. I just installed MBS Version 3.0.5131.18923, the boxset plugin and the MB3 Chrome Companion extension. Great work! I also just discovered the new little "jumpy uppy thingy" in the web client when my mouse hovers over the base of the episode thumb allowing me to do all sorts of things that used to take a few more clicks. Also, nice work with the season thumbs on the unaired episodes to eliminate confusion. I'm proud to be a supporter of this project. Keep up the great work! Cheers, @Tanamur
  18. The option to mouse right click in the web client playback window and select "Open Video in New Tab" gives a bigger web client display window. It also appears the latest version has had some improvements with the volume, full screen, and play/pause buttons working well. However, the time slider bar does not seem to be working for me. Is this coming or just my installation not responding? Thanks, Tanamur
