  1. Hello, I have a problem with web interfaces, both in firefox and chrome on windows. In particular when I open emby from browser it often shows an older cached session, meaning that the next episodes to play and the one to be resumed are older. If I clean the cache, things get back to normal. Still, it happens all the time and I cannot keep clearing the cache every time, is there a way to prevent this from happening? Thanks, Alberto

    Windows Chrome Audio

So weird little issue. Chrome on Windows (maybe others but haven't tested) sometimes no audio. Quality set to auto emby will play the stream with no audio. A work around is to change the quality from auto to anything else then back to auto and it works. My thoughts are if emby in chrome could detect somehow that no audio is playing and then transcode the audio from the begining as opposed to having to change from auto to something else then back to auto to get the audio to fix itself? I may be wrong so any advice or solution would be appreciated. Thanks.
  3. Hi With some episodes like this one: https://gofile.io/?c=NoX0w9 - It's really slow to read it, take 30 secondes before to start and if you move inside the movie, again, the timing take 15 / 30 secondes. Is it possible to avoid this waiting time ? Thank you in advance Regards
  4. I have been getting this recently and can't seem to find a way to fix this. Not sure what is causing it. Client is my desktop running the latest version of Google Chrome. I have all extensions turned off for my server's web page. Server is Version 4.1.1.0 and says up to date. Don't run any special plugins. This is what I'm seeing on my desktop, any help would be appreciated.
  5. Hi, I upgraded Chrome to 74.0.3729.108 (newest stable for macOS) and subtitles aren't showing in Emby Web App. Previous versions of Chrome is working, as well as Firefox and Safari. Been running Emby 4.0.2.0_1 on FreeBSD 11.2 a long time (same version before and after subtitle problem). Any ideas?

    Constant pausing or buffering

So I switched from Plex a while back as I prefer the way Emby handles my media and the plugins. But no matter what setting I pick I can not get stable playback of anything remotely. My internet connection is 400mbps/40mbps so that shouldn't be the problem. When playing from within the network with the windows server I have no issues and can play back anything in full quality. But when streaming it will only play for anywhere from a couple seconds to maybe a minute before it pauses, then continues. The pauses may be a second or 2 or may be 10 or so seconds. Regardless of how low I turn the settings it will not play without pausing. For music it is the same. It doesn't mater if I set it to 2mbps, 320kbps or auto. It is the same result. I want to continue paying to support the project but it has basically been unusable for me since I got it. I should note that chrome playback on my phone is maybe a little bit better than the app, but it still does the same thing. My phone is an LG V20.
  7. Hi, i'm from Chile (and for that, sorry for my english). Recently I update mi chrome mobile to v70 (Samsung s7 Edge), and the OSD controls position go to the top of the frame... I test my web app install (Freenas) in other phones with Anroid 8.0 and realize that the problem it's just chrome v70, at least in Android 8.0. I Attach some pics... it's weird ah?.... It's there some css to modify for fix it?... i tried to debug the scripts with chrome DevTools using remote control to my phone, but can't figured it the problem.... Thanks in advance for the help!

    Can't stream to Chromecast

iHi! I've never been able to stream from the Emby web UI to a Chromecast. I've attached a log of my last attempt. Can someone point me in the right direction? Thank you.
  11. For the last few months, when i've started emby, which hasn't been often, as i've been otherwise busy, it's worked ok, but then chrome crashes. This then leaves chrome crashing immediately on startup... forever... even without emby running. The only way i've found to fix it is to delete the Default folder in my user profile's Chrome - User Data folder. This then means chrome starts from scratch, asking me to login again and sync everything. Not the end of the world, but a mighty pain in the arse. Since the first occurrence, i've clean-installed my laptop a few times. Chrome would have updated itself continuously. So i don't think it's a windows problem, and possibly not a chrome problem... unless there's something in my synced profile. If i run firefox, i can then access emby just fine, and it works as usual. Any ideas?

    Keyboard Shortcuts

Hi guys, I have an issue on OSX with the keyboard controls. The space (play/pause) doesn't work consistently. It's like there is a long delay between the time I press space and the time the player get the control command. This is going on and off, there are times when it's working perfect, pressing space either plays or pauses the movie, and times when it's not working at all. This happens on a MacBook AIR, with both Safari and Chrome browsers, in all movies (not specific to one). Thank you,
  13. Been having a strange problem on firefox. I used to use NoScript and AdBlock plus I've since switched to Ublock Origin on both firefox and Chrome. Strange thing. my Firefox updated last night to 57.0.1 64 bit version, and I can't get the emby menu, or even the login screen to come up. I even disabled Ublock Origin on firefox, but still not working... Emby IS working ok on chrome (with Ublock Origin), but I'd love to find out what I'm missing in firefox, I put javascript on. hmmm. ideas??

  16. Hi, We have recently gained an XBOX, so naturally I have installed the Emby Theatre app on the XBOX for playback. with the hope of this replacing the aging Win7 Media Centre PC. Server 3.2.20.0 On attempting to play back a movie, TV recording or anything, all we get is a full screen image (backdrop) of what we are playing and nothing plays, very odd. So I did some playing about, I had recently moved the Emby server to a Windows platform, I can play a movie back successfully form the Windows 7 MCE with Emby Plugin installed. I can play back using Emby Theatre on Windows 10 devices. I cannot playback with Emby theatre on Android. I cannot playback via a web browser (Edge and Chrome tested on Windows 10, Chrome on Android). This has all worked previously. So I'm thinking there is a server issue on the windows device running the Emby server, this was a temporary measure as I lost my Ubuntu Emby server when the Freenas upgrade went in. I have installed the FreeBSD plugin for Freenas and after a bit of editing got it going (service would not start automatically). I have reconfigured, Emby is accessing media stored on NAS via smb://freenas/path/to/media... I have also specified the alternative path \\freenas\path\to\media... I can play as above but the issues remain with XBOX and Android. I'm thinking name resolution? so paths now have IP addresses, but the results are still the same. Looking at the ffmpeg log it does not appear to be passing the alternate UNC path correctly, but I'm not sure as it works on some devices? Is this a server bug? ffmpeg-transcode.log server.log

  18. Hello all, Looking for a little help on a couple issues: 1. I have Emby installed on my laptop and my father's (separate homes/networks). They're both setup the same way with the server/web app running on the same machine on Win 10 Home. Both installs run the server under localhost and accessed via the chrome browser as http://localhost:8096/web/home.html. Everything was running fine on my father's machine until today. Now Chrome just displays a black screen when he uses the web app. He indicates he doesn't even see any of the navigation. When he first told me he didn't see any movies I thought he accidentally deleted the file folder but that's when I found out the entire screen is black. To the best of my knowledge nothing has changed on his laptop between yesterday and today but it's possible an update happened (either Windows or Chrome). I had him restart the server and clear the cache on chrome/restart chrome but this did nothing. Rebooting the laptop also didn't resolve the issue. I then had him try the URL in the Win 10 native browser "Edge" and it works fine so it's obviously just a Chrome thing. I found other posts on this but the only resolution seemed to be that it "fixed itself". I believe he's on Emby Version 3.2.13.0 like me but I'm not positive. I updated him recently but he could be a version behind. Any thoughts on what else to check? My last resort was going to be to uninstall/re-install chrome and Emby if needed. I haven't encountered this myself which is why I'm at a loss as to what the issue might be given it's working on another browser. The only problem is that Edge and Firefox don't have chromecast ability otherwise I would have him use one of those for now. 2. Given I couldn't resolve the black screen of death over the phone with him I discovered the Emby Theater app in the Windows store and thought I could get him to install that until I can fix Chrome. I first tested this on my laptop before I walk through an install with him over the phone. Problem is I can't get this to work on my laptop. I get "Connection Failure" connecting to the local server. I found similar posts on this and supposedly the requirement is to be on Win 10 Anniversary version which I am. How do I troubleshoot this? Is there something on the server I have to enable? I tried just connecting on the server that it already found on my machine but that gives a Connection Failure so I tried adding a server with my local IP and "localhost" but still the same thing. Are there any ideas on this? Is there something to look at in the server log or does the app have it's own logs? I couldn't find a version number for the app in the store. I'm assuming it's the latest. If logs are needed from my father's machine I will provide them on Saturday when I go visit. I was hoping there might be some things I could try that aren't mentioned above. Thanks!
  19. Is there a way to implement H.265 playback in to the web browser, whitout it transcoding it to H.264? Found Open Source Software http://www.libde265.org/ is there a way to implement it, or is it far into the future Whit H.265?
  20. Hi, I'm new to the Emby world but got my sever running on a Pi3 with OSMC. When I try to web play on Chrome I get only 2~3 seconds of playback and then some kind of buffering/loading that interrupts the movie. I believe this is due to my Pi3 transcoding limitation, is the anything I can do to solve this performance limitation when transcoding is needed? But the main issue is that I would like to use DirectPlay and so not suffer from transcoding but keep getting errors: Unknown Profile and Bitrate exceeds DirectPlay limit: media bitrate. Is this due to AC3 and DTS browser limitations? I've also tried a AAC mp4 and got the same problem. Any clues on how I solve these errors? Tks server Log.txt
  21. Hello I'm trying to stream the mp4 version of Knowing on Chrome and I keep getting: Unknown Profile, No direct play profiles found. I don't get this on anything else. If I play the mp4 file using VLC or Windows 10 Movies & TV, it works fine. Thank you, David ffmpeg log.txt Log.txt

    TV Guide and playback problems

Hi, I have a number of issues with the TV Guide and Live TV playback on Chrome, Firefox and Android Mobile. Android Mobile - the guide is one hour out, eg at 16:30hrs the guide shows 15:30hrs. This is not apparent on the FF or Chrome WebUI - see screenshots. Firefox and Chrome: Selecting the play icon from the "Whats on" list results in a never ending spinning circle. In Firefox and Chrome, Live TV will not play. Choosing a program from the Guide and selecting Play, results in a black playback screen. Closing this screen using the X in the top RH corner sometimes will play audio and sometimes not. Checking the server dashboard there is no indication that anything is playing. Logs show a remux log every time. NextPVR app: 3.9.2 NextPVR plugin: 3.0.6143.20454 Dev: 3.1.6168.41403

    Asustor NO SOUND via Emby

Hi, Was wondering if anyone else has this problem and knows how to fix it ? I usually watch media thru Kodi connected to the TV via HDMI cable - using Emby as the media Library/Librarian. This works fine, most of the time, but the link between Kodi and Emby sometimes doesn't work and rather than wait 2 odd hours for Kodi to refresh the media before it will play anything, I thought I might just play the show direct from Emby - but I can't. I can play MP3 music files via SoundsGood and Hi-Res Player using the HDMI connected to the TV. But from LooksGood and Emby - I can only get picture - NO SOUND !! Any idea why or is there a setting somewhere that needs to be set to direct the sound out via the HDMI ? Thanks
  24. This thread seems to be related: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/37868-android-devices-cant-find-chromecasts-test-with-306060/ I've opted to create a new thread because I think there was a bit of confusion as to what the problem actually was in the other thread (and it was in the wrong section), plus I've done quite a bit more testing to try to narrow the problem down. The Problem: Chrome recently rolled out a new, built-in experience for Google Cast: https://chrome.googleblog.com/2016/08/google-cast-is-now-built-in-to-chrome.html. This experience doesn't seem to work in the latest version of Emby, 3.0.6400.0. When clicking the "Chromecast" option from the Emby web interface, the new Google Cast "Cast to" dialog never shows up, and I am never prompted to select the device to which I would like to cast. Other sites, like YouTube and Google Music, still work as expected from their respective web interfaces. Steps to reproduce: Load the Emby web interface in either Desktop or Mobile Chrome Click the "Cast" Icon (next to the "Search" icon) Emby's device selection dialog shows up with two (or more) options. "My Device" and "Chromecast" should be present in the list. Click "Chromecast" Expected Result: The Google Cast "Cast to" dialog should appear, allowing me to select a Chromecast. Actual Result: Emby's device selection dialog disappears and nothing happens -- the Google Cast "Cast to" dialog never appears. An error is thrown in the browser's console (see "Additional Information & Logs" below). Workarounds: If I revert back to 3.0.5972.0, casting works as expected. 3.0.5984.0 seems to be the first (stable) version in which casting from the web interface is broken (it would seem that this could be related to all of the promise-related work in 5984 -- the errors thrown in console are promise-related). (Desktop Chrome only) If I disable the Media Router in Chrome (https://support.google.com/chromecast/answer/6349849?hl=en) and install the old Chromecast extension, casting works as expected in 6400, but only the first time I try casting; If I disconnect the Chromecast via the web interface and try reconnecting, or if I dismiss the "Cast to" dialog without selecting a device, Emby will not open extension dialog again (until I reload the page). Browsers Tested: Chrome for Windows (Stable, Beta, Canary) Chrome for Android (Stable, Beta, Dev) Emby Versions Tested: 3.0.6400.0 - Broken 3.0.5984.0 - Broken 3.0.5972.0 - Working Additional Information & Logs: Another, possibly related bug: Anytime I dismiss one of Emby's contextual pop-up dialogs (the device selection list, or a menu accessed by clicking the "three-dots" icon on any show/season/etc) without taking an affirmative action (i.e. by clicking outside the dialog -- not selecting any of the options present inside the dialog), I get a JS console error saying "Uncaught (in promise) undefined" from actionsheet.js, line 256. Here's some relevant JS Console output for the Chromecast issue. 25. Hi, Since I updated Emby (manually) to 3.0.8100.0 I can no longer access it via IIS URL Rewrite when using Chrome (Edge and IE are fine) It works fine going via the hosted port (8096) - is this coincidence or an issue with Chrome? Log attached after a restart and attempting login from browser in addition to the browser with console open. Thanks madlan Emby Log.txt
