This is a request from my wife, who likes Plex better because you can select the audio track and subtitles before launching the movie. I like MBT better as an all-in-one solution to Plex's more limited capacity, but I have to hand this one to her: that feature really is nice when dealing with a lot of foreign-language content.

I have a problem where audio slowly loses sync behind the video, which I thought was unusual (as opposed to audio getting ahead, which is more typical). It starts to be obvious after about 5 minutes. If I skip forward and then skip back in the player (or vice versa), the audio and video will jump back in sync. So far this only happens with 29.97 video combined with 2 channel AAC audio. It doesn't happen with any other audio (2-5 channel DTS, AC3) or video, although I don't have any 24p/AAC files to test with, nor have I tried 2-channel MP3, uncompressed, etc. I have tried various combinations of player and mixer settings, and none seem to have any effect on the sync problem. However, I don't really understand how all these settings work, and I couldn't find any good documentation on them. If you have any suggestions, please let me know! My settings:

I have noticed that with anything I play in Theater (movie or tv show) the video and audio are out of sync. The video is always a few seconds behind the audio. I'm currently running windows server Version 3.0.5641.4 and theater version 3.0.5651.20234. Is there anything to change in the settings? Log

Can we add a video pass thru option to the transcode settings? I have a roku directly connected to a TV that doesnt support DTS/DD, which unfortunately means that everything that doesnt have 2 channel audio is being transcoded. Which is virtually everything, putting my server under massive strain. If we had video pass thru and the transcoder was only downmixing the audio then I wouldnt need to use folder sync to pre-transcode everything (which is great having the option, but a bit painful).

All, Not sure this is the right forum but it's the closest one I could find. If I am wrong then I apologize now. I have a large library of movies I have ripped and put on a media server. I use the Emby server to manage my collection and use DVDFab to make a copy in the library. I have been using this setup since the days of Media Center and it's performed flawlessly. But lately an interesting thing occurs when I play a movie, I am getting the audio commentary being played using Emby theater to play. But when I use Windows Media Center, pulling from the same file, I do not get the commentary only the movie sound. Do I have a setting wrong in Emby? I've looked and can't seem to find anything related to it in either Emby server or Emby theater. Suggestions? RedCatcher01

I have one movie that does not have any audio when playing through media browser classic, it works fine on my tablet, phone, web browser, xbox and using theatre. The movie used to work in mbc but for some reason it no longer does. I used to be able to select the audio track in an earlier version but now that function appears to have been removed. Any suggestions?

Hi Guys-- Longtime MB user but Forum Newbie here. I've been using MB for a while now and noticed recently that I can't seem to get 5.1 audio on my Roku 3 anymore. Before, all I had to do was to change the "Max Quality" settings under Transcoding under "Playback in the Emby server settings. In the Roku app, I had the bitrate set to 30mbps (HD). I've still got it set to 30mbps HD (the highest setting) but I still only see 2 channels coming through my receiver. Also, in the "Transcoding" settings under 'Playback", I've also still got that set to "Max Quality". I'm not using DLNA on purpose since when I stream to my PS3, it works, but, the picture is really dark. It looks way better on the Roku. Also, I don't have a DLNA profile for the Roku anyway. I looked at the logs, and on the top line of the transcode log, I see "MaxAudioChannels=2". I am certain this is the culprit, but I cannot for the life of me find where to change it. I've searched the forum for this and I didn't see anything that seemed to be related to my issue. I'm on Emby Version: 3.3.5588.1 on a Win8,1 Pro machine. I have a Gigabit connection to the Roku via my router (ASUS RT-AC68U with Merlin firmware). I have port 8096 mapped to my server in the Port Forwarding settings as well. Attached are the server and transcode logs. I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but if you can point me to where I can change the audio channel setting, I'd welcome your advice! transcode-c78c2822-3078-4f14-a89c-4a8f8189107d.txt server-63565573684.txt

Hi, I haven't looked into this for a bit but have just read that chromecast will pass through e-ac3 5.1 audio. Is this supported/transcoded by Emby?

Sorry for questions about “old technology” but my extender has its usefulness for now. Problem: My HP x280n Media Center Extender (MCE) will not play MP4 container AAC audio (2.0 or 5.1) using Media Browser 3 server (MB3) and Media Browser Classic (MBC) in Win7 Media Center. MP4 containers with a range of audio codecs are supported (see above). Tried Troubleshooting: PC Server tested: MP4 container files play audio/video in Media Browser Web Client , Media Player 12, Media Center Pictures/Videos and in MBC. HP Extender tested: The extender has a local, removable HDD and Wi-Fi & Wired network connections (I'm using wired). A full range of MP4 files play audio/video both from the local HDD and networked NAS disk in the basic extender interface (not Media Center). In the Media Center interface the MP4 video plays beautifully from the PC Server, however no audio will play in either the Pictures/Videos section or from MBC. In the Media Center interface in either the Pictures/Videos section or from MBC, both audio & video play beautifully for .avi, .ts. I have not installed LAV filters so I do not play MKV over the extender. Below are the audio/video container and codecs supported by the extender: Below are the mp4, mkv & avi parameters for the files I tested: ffprobe version N-58015-g8cdf4e0 Copyright (c) 2007-2013 the FFmpeg developers built on Nov 10 2013 18:01:44 with gcc 4.8.2 (GCC) configuration: --enable-gpl --enable-version3 --disable-w32threads --enable-av isynth --enable-bzlib --enable-fontconfig --enable-frei0r --enable-gnutls --enab le-iconv --enable-libass --enable-libbluray --enable-libcaca --enable-libfreetyp e --enable-libgsm --enable-libilbc --enable-libmodplug --enable-libmp3lame --ena ble-libopencore-amrnb --enable-libopencore-amrwb --enable-libopenjpeg --enable-l ibopus --enable-librtmp --enable-libschroedinger --enable-libsoxr --enable-libsp eex --enable-libtheora --enable-libtwolame --enable-libvidstab --enable-libvo-aa cenc --enable-libvo-amrwbenc --enable-libvorbis --enable-libvpx --enable-libwavp ack --enable-libx264 --enable-libxavs --enable-libxvid --enable-zlib libavutil 52. 52.100 / 52. 52.100 libavcodec 55. 41.100 / 55. 41.100 libavformat 55. 21.100 / 55. 21.100 libavdevice 55. 5.100 / 55. 5.100 libavfilter 3. 90.102 / 3. 90.102 libswscale 2. 5.101 / 2. 5.101 libswresample 0. 17.104 / 0. 17.104 libpostproc 52. 3.100 / 52. 3.100 Input #0, mov,mp4,m4a,3gp,3g2,mj2, from 'Click.(2000).S2013E01.mp4': Metadata: major_brand : isom minor_version : 1 compatible_brands: isomavc1 creation_time : 2013-01-05 11:40:01 title : Click (2000) S2013E01 album : Click (2000) date : 2013 show : Click (2000) genre : Documentary season_number : 221 episode_sort : 1 Duration: 00:24:06.14, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 1023 kb/s Stream #0:0(und): Video: h264 (High) (avc1 / 0x31637661), yuv420p(tv, bt709), 720x404, 890 kb/s, 25 fps, 25 tbr, 25k tbn, 50 tbc (default) Metadata: creation_time : 2013-01-05 11:40:01 handler_name : Video Stream #0:1(eng): Audio: aac (mp4a / 0x6134706D), 48000 Hz, stereo, fltp, 124 kb/s (default) Metadata: creation_time : 2013-01-05 11:40:02 handler_name : English Thanks in advance for any insight on the problem , Tanamur ffmpeg-ad70d4dd-2169-4f71-8825-090abefcd5f9-mp4.txt server-63522216771.log

I have set my prefered language in the splitter settings to eng. Is there anything else i need to do for this to take effect (i have restarted MBT). I have checked the lav system tray icon and that confirms the settings from MBT. I always seem to get the first audio stream. I can still change the stream from the osd, but sometimes my remote plays up. Thanks

Why: hmm I'm lazy and don't like to adjust the volume of my TV for each Show\Movie. Requirements: VideoGain Visual C++ Runtimes must be installed VC2005 VC2008 VC2010 .NET Framework 2.0 must be installed (Standard Vista+) Instructions: Extract VideoGain archive into a folder...ideally called "VideoGain" so it's easy to find and use next time. Then read the ReadMe.txt it goes over nearly everything. Exceptions being, the command line has changed, and there is now AC3 encoding...which higher values equal better sound, but larger file sizes. You'll basically be looking to use ether ReplayGain or r128 Gain...if you live in Europe...I'd strongly suggest r128 as that is the spec used on TV stations there. Everywhere else...take your pick, both are fine...ReplayGain tends to be louder. If your audio is MP3 or AAC already...you may wish to use the (Tag) versions...as they are non-destructive...since there is no re-encoding of the audio. If you use a Roku, you should ether make your audio AC3 if you want more than Stereo...or use AAC. If you do go AAC and you have audio...that wasn't Stereo to being with...you should probably select "DownMix (Stereo)" Also if you use a Roku...if you go videos done in Xvid or the like...this will encode to H.264 making your videos playable without transcoding. If you do this...be sure to use a quality factor of 21 or less...smaller will mean a bigger file size, but also less damage. Also set the speed to Meduim or slower to cut down on file size.

I am having a specific problem when I play MKV files in mb classic using the default player, that is the mkv will only output audio in stereo pcm format. I then use as a work round MPC-HC as an external player and the mkv will play in 5.1. I am sure there must be an easier solution. Has anyone had a similar problem or have a better solution?

Hi, anyone else experienced this? Bluray ripped to Mkv and DTS audio is copied. Played the file a few times bitstreaming audio to my soundbar and audio was out of sync. Opened up LAV and adjusted audio delay (-300ms) and got it synced up. Put LAV back to no delay and switched off soundbar to see what TV speakers would do. Audio is perfect through TV. Switched soundbar back on and now it's perfect without touching LAV Can the audio over HDMI get out of sync which needs a restart of you receiver/soundbar to sort it out? I'm happy I know how to fix it, it's just a wee bit weird! Cheers Latchmor

Hi, I do not know whether this is even feasible with the given possibilities. But it would be a real cool feature in my eyes to have the ability of streaming the same (audio) content to different DLNA and/or Chromecast Devices in different rooms. That would give you the ability of a cheap multiroom audiosystem. I know that it is "theoretically" makeable with DLNA (Look here for an example: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=78431) I think most developers won't implement it because you have a different delay and therefore asynchronous Music playback on different devices with different Hard- and Software. But maybe you could make it possible to integrate a way to adjust the music sync manually for different devices? As I said. Would be a realy realy cool feature IMHO What did the rest of you guys think about that? I'm realy interested in your opinion

Any way to switch Audio Tracks, One of my movies decided it wants to play in german I want to switch it to the English sound track

Hi Team, I had a look through the forums to see if anyone had posted this yet and I was unable to find it, so I'm posting here. Apologies if it's already been suggested and rejected etc. As I'm working with files from multiple sources, each file has different audio stream and subtitle configurations. Whilst I have configured the default codec preferences to cater to the majority of films, one little first world problem annoyance is having to leave MBT to change the audio stream or to adjust subtitles. You can change these media options in the web-app version of MB, but the same functionality seems to be missing (or not yet added to) MBT itself. Thank you for your consideration mattispantone81

Hey, I think it will be great if there is a option to browse TV Series by their Studios. Because MBS only downloads thumbs from internet to local memory (like below image), but are of no use. One more feature request, It is already a great feature that shows language of subtitle. In my collection there are some dual audio movies i.e. English, Hindi Audios So it will be better if MBT will show Audio language also. Also sorting by audio language option is a plus. What do you guys think, is this possible?

Hello! I just finished building my new HTPC, and before installing Mediabrowser etc. I wanted configure my speakers.. I have 5 speakers and one sub-woofer which connects to my on-board audio jacks (1 blue, 1 green, 1 pink.) It says that the motherboard (MSI - B85I) supports 7.1 channels. The problem is that I only get audio from my two speakers left and right from the green plug. I have installed the drivers from MSI's driver page; the Realtek HD Audio Driver version ; 6.0.1.7245 (up to date), I also configured it to 5.1 surround in the realtek hd manager interface. But when i test the speakers only two of them gives audio. I've also tried to changed the audio jacks , which only results in stereo from two other speakers. Also under "speaker properties" -> jack information, the only jack listed is the L R green rear 3,5 mm jack. Don't know why the others are not listed. Would really appreciate if someone could give some tips or insight ! [solved] the problem pretty simple ,but never used this Realtek HD manager... had to point the jacks to the different speakers and it works! - niven

WMP and Media Player Classic Home Cinema sounded the same - So, I think it is producing the proper sound. Also, when I tried playing the transcoded .webm with WMP - it sounded weird. There is something wrong with the transcoder or the transcoder settings. I have also tried the web interface on older video files that I know aren't in 5.1 - they still sound wrong. The audio plays normally through mediabrowser classic on WMC and through the mediabrowser 3 app on windows - however, these do not require transcoding. *Added the media-info to the main post

Videos With Multiple Audio Tracks Playing Simultaneously
adabo posted a topic in Windows Media Center
For some odd reason, WMC is playing a lot of my videos with multiple audio sources simultaneously. For example, an anime might have Japanese and English audio tracks. Instead of (logically) playing the default track, it's playing both at the same time. Is there anyway to fix this to only play one? *Edit: Just a thought, could it have something to do with my language settings in WMC? Since the Japanese audio is default, and WMC is trying to play English? *Edit2: Tested the video with WMC DVD language setting set to Japanese and it still plays both tracks at the same time. I think I should test all my dual audio sources. I know it did this for Happy Gilmore, so I stripped the French audio since I'll never use that anyway. *Edit3: Tested several movies which contain 2 or more audio tracks and WMC plays all of them at the same time. -
LAV Filter not configured if KLite Codec Pack installed
Starlionblue posted a topic in Windows & Xbox
Installed Media Browser Theater version 3.0.5182.20892. I noticed I couldn't use the "configure audio" button under "Video Player" options. It was looking in the standard LAV filter installation location (C:\Program Files (x86)\LAV Filters). However I had earlier installed KLite codec pack, which puts them in a subdirectory of itself (C:\Program Files (x86)\Klite Codec Pack\LAV Filters) Uninstalling Klite and re-installing LAV Filters solved the problem. I opened up MBT and was shown the initial use wizard thingy, something that hadn't come up before!!! -
Hello, I would love to see an option added to select audio tracks and subtitles with the Andriod. I was shocked it was not on it by default

[uPDATE] - additional information and clarifications. I'm having a fairly consistent issue with the last two server betas (including 3.0.5188.21314) Where, when streaming, several blu-ray ISOs play (it seems) whatever the #2 audio stream is and incorrectly states it is playing the primary (English) audio stream when the english stream is an HD audio stream (e.g. DTS-MA). Switching streams seems to have the same issue, and critically, there appears to be no way to actually select the primary English stream either before or during playback. I've tested this in the web interface and XBMB3C (in streaming mode) and behavior happens across a number of BD ISOs with multiple audio streams and an HD primary stream. Note this problem does not appear when directly accessing the file system - MBC and XBMB3C both play the expected English audio track for my BD ISOs. Additionally, DVD ISOs play the expected audio track both locally and when streaming. Happy to provide any additional information upon request!

How-To setup subtitles and audio switching with MCERemote Plus
saitoh183 posted a topic in Tutorials and Guides
So i was trying to get subtitles to work on MBC/WMC without having to use MPC and the only option seemed to be Media Control. Media Control is fine for the more experience user but is not very WAF worthy. So i decide to try and get MCERemote plus (which is the only other alternative to Media Control) and after 2 days of messy around i finally got it to work properly. So i decided to share my setup so that others may benefit. This has only been tested with Embedded subs only but MceRemote simply turns on or off the subtitle section of FFDshow. So if FFDshow properly enables the external sub, there is no reason why MCE remote wouldnt work. What i installed: Lav x64 (audio/video/splitter) - Latest Build FFDshow x64(Video/DXVA) MCERemote Plus Win7DSFilterTeaker 5.9 Install: Install Lav (you can install X86 and x64...doesnt really matter) Install FFDshow x64 (only video decoder is needed), for the rest of the menus, I left default for the video codec choice (do not enable Subtitles) and disabled the audio mixer Extract MCERemote where ever you want. if you have UAC enabled (set the exe to always Run as Admin) Configure: Win7DSFilterTeaker 5.9: use it to properly assigned x64 codec to FFDshow and Lav for audio (Follow the Lav guide on the Forum) Open Lav Audio and set it up for your system needs (ie: enable AC3 DTS whatever you need) Open open FFDshow and make sure you follow the configuration shown in the jpg that is in the MCERemote Plus folder Open Lav Splitter. Now if your using this for manly anime as i am, you can simply set your Lav Splitter config like my screenshot and if the video files was properly encoded, it should work without a hich. You can view this page to get a explanation on the Splitter if your not familar with it. Now start MCERemote and configure your shortcut keys to do the switching and make sure FFDshow is selected and DirectVobsub is unselected and press OK Thats It! Now start up MBC and start a anime or any video containing subs. Press on your designated Toggle sub key and it should turn on/off the sub. If it does not, press the button once, then right-click on the FFDshow icon and make sure there is a check mark next to Subtitle (this is what the toggle function does in MCERemote config). If that works but still no sub, right-click the FFDshow icon again and this time under subtitle stream, make sure its has a check next to the subtitle and not "No Subtitle". If it was set to "No Subtitle" then Lav Splitter probably wasnt able to set the proper sub which could be be cause the 3 letter code is wrong. The way it suppose to work: FFDshow Subtitle is not checked by default Subtitle must Not be on "No Subtitle " or Toggle will do nothing Audio switching shouldnt be necessary if Lav Splitter is configured properly and Video files are properly encoded with Subs Things i have noticed with MCERemote: Once i switch audio using the shortcut key, i cant seem to switch back. Any feedback would be appreciated. Its not such a big deal because since Lav splitter switches the video to the proper audio on startup but the switch button seems to still not work..as if its a the end of a list and cant go back to the first entry. Cycle Sub streams doesnt seems to work.. probably the same reason as the Cycle Audio stream. Shorcut keys must be a keyboard key and not MCE_... becuase WMC doesnt seem to register it.
