Bloody newbie here (emby on xbox)

After searching for some new apps, i found emby and all i know is that i can watch tv and record some stuff. After registered to emby, emby asks me if i got a server.. i've no clue what i have to type to continue. What do i have to do to enjoy this app ? If i did some grammar mistakes, i'm sorry. Greetings from Austria
  3. Hi, We have recently gained an XBOX, so naturally I have installed the Emby Theatre app on the XBOX for playback. with the hope of this replacing the aging Win7 Media Centre PC. Server 3.2.20.0 On attempting to play back a movie, TV recording or anything, all we get is a full screen image (backdrop) of what we are playing and nothing plays, very odd. So I did some playing about, I had recently moved the Emby server to a Windows platform, I can play a movie back successfully form the Windows 7 MCE with Emby Plugin installed. I can play back using Emby Theatre on Windows 10 devices. I cannot playback with Emby theatre on Android. I cannot playback via a web browser (Edge and Chrome tested on Windows 10, Chrome on Android). This has all worked previously. So I'm thinking there is a server issue on the windows device running the Emby server, this was a temporary measure as I lost my Ubuntu Emby server when the Freenas upgrade went in. I have installed the FreeBSD plugin for Freenas and after a bit of editing got it going (service would not start automatically). I have reconfigured, Emby is accessing media stored on NAS via smb://freenas/path/to/media... I have also specified the alternative path \\freenas\path\to\media... I can play as above but the issues remain with XBOX and Android. I'm thinking name resolution? so paths now have IP addresses, but the results are still the same. Looking at the ffmpeg log it does not appear to be passing the alternate UNC path correctly, but I'm not sure as it works on some devices? Is this a server bug? ffmpeg-transcode.log server.log

    Xbox One Creators Update issues?

The Creators Update went out to consoles today, as well as an update to the Emby Theater app on Xbox One and Emby Server 3.9.2 beta, and ever since I can't sustain playback within the app on the Xbox. Browsing works normally, and playback starts as expected, but will only last appx. 1 minute. No one attempted playback on the console (I believe) from when I updated Emby Server around 9:30 am until 1:56 pm (after both the console and Xbox app were updated), so I can't be sure that it's not a server issue (though I sincerely doubt it, since other clients - including Emby Theater UWP on a Windows PC - have been connecting/streaming all day without issue). The first title required transcoding, and when it failed I thought it might be a transcoding issue (log attached). The second title was direct play ready, and suffered the same playback failure. Any thoughts? Log - 3.29.17 1424.txt transcode log - 3.29.17 1424.txt

No audio on Xbox One app

I have this app on both a PC and Xbox. The PC version works perfect but when I start any video file on the Xbox version there is no sound even though there is sound navigating through the app. I've tried movies that were encoded with different audio, changed every audio setting in the app I could find, delete the app and re-installed and also tried a different Emby server. At one time when I first installed Ember on the Xbox the audio was working fine but stopped after one of the updates. I don't use the Xbox that often so I couldn't say what update caused it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Xbox app crashing to dash

Hi There Emby people, The Xbox app seems to be crashing to the dash with the latest preview build - 10.0.15026.1001 (rs_xbox_dev_flight.170201-2341) I have reported it to MS via preview channel, but thought you might like to know. Not sure what your communication is like between yourself and the platform holder. Getting lots of 'Exception.Message: Unable to read data from the transport connection: Connection reset by peer.' type error msgs in the logs on the server.

    Xbox One Low Volume

I'm experiencing an odd issue with video playback on Emby Theater for Xbox One. The video plays just fine, however the volume is significantly lower than it should be. Playing the same video using the built-in Media Player App playbacks with "normal" volume. I've tried restarting the app, re-downloading the app, signing in and out of my account, resetting the server, and nothing is able to resolve the issue. I have to turn my speakers up near max to approach appropriate listening levels. Obviously this isn't ideal as the rest of the system sounds are extremely loud at this setting.

    XBOX One Emby Premiere

I have i problem with XBox one client. Every time I try to play anything I get this message; Here is what I'm running and I do have premiere; What I'm I doing wrong?? Log.txt
  9. The images for files load perfectly fine, however folder images do not (e.g. Season folders). Is this intended now, as the logs do not show that it's even trying to fetch the images.
  10. Hello, I have the latest server software and am trying Emby Theater on Xbox One S for the first time. We can view the library but whenever we select any video to play, it crashes back to the Xbox home screen. It hangs the Xbox when any music is selected. Using the Xbox media player I can play files directly from the Emby folders. Emby Theater works on a Windows 10 PC in our home and Emby works from all PC's and browsers. I have an active Premiere subscription. I restarted the Xbox twice but with no changes, I would appreciate any advice. Thanks,

    Adjust Overscan on Xbox One

Is there a way to adjust the overscna on Emby Theater for the XBox One? The text and images are cut off by the edges of the screen. My TV does not have any options for adjusting image size, underscan or overscan. I could not find any options on the XBox either that would help. The Emby MCE add-on has these options and they work great, hoping that there is something similar you can help me find. Nick
  12. Hey there so I figured I'd report this issue or inquire on how to fix it. For probably a couple months now Xbox One when DLNA streaming will no longer show Movie Posters, Season Posters, etc... Just wondering if this is a bug or how it can be fixed thanks!
  13. Is it possible to have official PS4 and Xbox apps?
  14. Hi Luke. I was playing with ET on my Xbox One over the weekend and it looks very nice. Do you want feedback on Xbox One usage, or is it still a WIP ?? Should ET work OK with the Official Xbox One Media Remote ?? Thanks.
  15. Hello, Running Version 3.0.5882.0 on my computer connected to RouterA. When My Xbox One is connected to RouterA, I have no problem seeing my Emby server on my Xbox (from the "Media player" app) Here the problem: I connected a new router, RouterB to RouterA. My computer continues to be connected to RouterA. However, now my Xbox One is connected to RouterB. I no longer see my Emby server on my Xbox (from the "Media player" app). Do I need to do some sort of port forwarding for RouterA/RouterB? I was able to verify that another laptop can connect to RouterB via WiFi and I can successfully see the Emby server in a web browser using the local IP address (192.168.0.10:8096) Any thoughts? Thanks! Rory

Xbox One raw MKV from DVD

I apparently had addressed this locally on some/most of my devices in the past. However, we received an Xbox One for Christmas and have been playing with that quite a bit. It was great to see out of the box 80% direct play for our library on the Xbox One. Then I ran across the following: No direct play profiles found for Path:...mkv It turns out the something like the following needed to be added to our DLNA profile for the Xbox One: <DirectPlayProfile container="mkv" audioCodec="ac3,aac" videoCodec="mpeg2video" type="Video" /> The current system DLNA system profile for the Xbox One contains: <DirectPlayProfile container="mp4,mov,mkv" audioCodec="aac,ac3" videoCodec="h264,mpeg4" type="Video" /> This can be handled in a number of ways. The important thing for our case was to ensure mpeg2video codec, which was coming from our raw MKV from DVD, was listed as a valid video codec for direct play with the mkv container. I essentially changed the above to : <DirectPlayProfile container="mp4,mov,mkv" audioCodec="aac,ac3" videoCodec="h264,mpeg4,mpeg2video" type="Video" /> and now our raw dvd/mkv rips play back via Xbox One media player just fine.

Direct play to Xbox one issue

Hi All Just recently upgraded to the new version of Emby. I am experiencing problems when direct playing to the XB1. All I get is a black screen with some churping in the background. This is only xbox 1 that has the issue. Website play is fine. and no issues playing the file directly. Please find below the transcode log 20. During playback on my xbox 360 extender, the movie plays for about 3-5 mins and the crashes displaying the following: "A program on your Windows Media Center PC has caused the Xbox 360 to disconnect. Would you like to reconnect?" After reconnecting it is like the movie or TV show was never played....no resume option. I am running MediaBrowser Classic 3.0.256 (Beta) on a Windows 7 x64 machine, with MediaBrowser Server Version 3.0.5518.7. Play On Xbox One not listed

I have MBC setup with MBS running as a service. Everything is working fine and within MBS settings I see Xbox One as a listed device. When using the mediabrowser 8.1 app or the windows phone 8 app I don't see Xbox One as a listed player to select. Within file explorer in windows I am able see Xbox One as a listed device and play to it. From my Xbox I am able the launch the media player app and successfully connect to mediabrowser and play files, just vice versa doesn't work. Any ideas on why it doesn't appear within the apps?

    Xbox 360, DLNA, & the 64-bit MP4

I only choose to beat this dead horse because the difficulty I'm having in this area stands in such stark contrast to the rapid and amazing development work going on everywhere else around this platform, from the server feature set and add-ons to the mobile apps. MediaBrowser is a stunning achievement and plays a central role in my house. In short, the Xbox 360 cannot "see" the MB3 DLNA server on the network when I access the "System Video Player" app. What it's really looking for, as far as I can tell, is a Windows Media Player Sharing or equivalent service, since Windows PCs and other third-party DLNA servers on my network appear in this list. In lieu of directly accessing the DLNA server using System Video Player, as I do via the "equivalent" Media Player app on the Xbox One with great success, I often use my mobile app or the web interface to "Play To" the console. However, this only works for certain files and file types. For example, Play To seems to attempt to play MP4s directly to the console, even if the files in question meet the criteria for transcoding under the Xbox 360 profile, resulting in consistent failure (the biggest problem with the playback of my MP4s on my 360 is the number of large files in my library encoded with 64-bit offsets). I have attempted to make use of MBC and the Xbox 360 MCE for media playback, as the interface is beautiful, fun, and intuitive. However, it is an inelegant and impermanent solution for a number of reasons and MBC seems to be nearly deprecated anyway. There are other things I need my Windows client PC doing besides hosting a RD connection from my 360 and transcoding video files off a network share. I have attempted to run alternative, third-party DLNA servers that the 360 will recognize (such as Serviio), alongside MB3, but I hate them. For one thing, MB3 is the only DLNA server I know of that discerns the difference between a 32-bit MP4 (which I would want the 360 to play directly) and a 64-bit MP4 (which I would want/need transcoded), which means any other solution will necessarily transcode absolutely everything at great cost to my server's performance. But most of all, by not using MB3 as my DLNA server, I lose access to the amazing plugins/add-ons and content management solutions employed by MB3, including and especially Collections and Playlists. Short of buying an Xbox 360 for the development team or replacing my own Xbox with a Roku, options that have been categorically denied to me by my wife, what can be done? P.S. I'm obsessed with MediaBrowser. As I mentioned on Twitter a few months ago, it's revolutionized entertainment in my home. The first thing I do every morning is log into the web interface to see if there's a new beta release of the server. I'm tech savvy, but not a dev, so if I can be of any help here, please let me know!
  25. Hi, Yesterday my kids were watching a movie that had previously played just fine but on that day it suffered from a problem that I generally have when streaming outside my home on low bandwidth connections - the video would take a pause every few minutes and then kick back in. Very frustrating to watch; it drove my dad bonkers - "Why don't you just put the DVD in?" I have MB Server 3.0.5464.40000, MB Classic 3.0.328.0, and they were playing it on an XBOX 360. So I took a look at the server and found something very odd - Even though the movie was encoded as a 10 Mbps 1920x1080 H.264 in a MKV container, it was playing "direct." Not transcoding. The Xbox seemed to be choking on the file. After that movie we watched another that was encoded in a similar way but at a much lower bitrate. An mkv with an H.264 1916x796 / 4.254 Kbps. This file played OK with no stops but was still playing "direct." My XBOX 360 never played MKV files directly before... Now - I just made alot of changes. These files are not stored on the MB Server they are on a NAS. I just moved them from a NAS that was serving them via SMB to a NAS that is attached to the server via an iSCSI link. So maybe the path substitution was not working properly before but now it is... But I thought that the XBOX would need any MKV transcoded. I also thought the playback filters would prevent the XBOX 360 from trying to direct play any file too heavy for it? Since the second movie worked, I stopped short of breaknig the path substitution to force transcoding. It WAS nice to have fast forward & rewind working in the 2nd movie, but it was not nice to watch the first movie while trying to avoid having a seizure. Does this make sense on any level? Thanks very much to all of the developers who work on this excellent project! Happy Holidays! H
