  1. Library folders in my admin panel don't have images anymore since a while. So i've tried to add them manually, however when i click on "Edit Images", the loading icon appear (And never fade-out) but the popup for editing the images is never shown. The only library with an image is the "Auto generated library" called Collection créated by the plugin Auto Box Set. When i clic on "Edit Images" for this item the popup appear as expected. The only error i've managed to found is displayed in the browser console when i click an the menu item "Edit Images". Uncaught (in promise) Error: null itemId at ApiClient.getItem (apiclient.js?v=3.5.2.0:1) at imageeditor.js?v=3.5.2.0:1 at Object.execCb (alameda.js?v=3.5.2.0:1) at defineModule (alameda.js?v=3.5.2.0:1) at Object.depFinished (alameda.js?v=3.5.2.0:1) at alameda.js?v=3.5.2.0:1 Tested on Chrome 69 and firefox 62.
  2. Hey I’m not sure if this is where im suppose to put this up there but \_(‘-‘_/ . So I have noticed that, although you can add books to Emby, there is no native way to read them or access them in general. So I used my graphic design skills and though of a simple UI you guys can use for it when you guys release this feature. So I based some of the designs on some apps that I have use or know, that are for reading books and brought them all together in this design, bring in some of my favorite features So the first image is how it would look when you go and open a book to read. So you have a pop in mini-menu, that goes away simply by tapping on the center and top on the top or bottom to make it apear again. On the top shows the progress of the book with page number, tile of the book along with the author, exit arrow, and the bookmark icon to add bookmarks. At the bottom you find arrows to turn the page, which if its a touchscreen device just sliding should work just as fine. And the circle, upon pressing it will show info on the book and author, your bookmarks, and similar books. Which in my mind looks like this You can see that bookmarks and chapters can be accessed through a drop-down menu and the reason it has the arrow on the top is that you just drag down to make it go away. And through some provider or manually add the information about author and book, just like in the movies ui. Here are both side by side If you have any questions or ideas for change feel free to ask and comment on things it can improve on. Hey I noticed that second photo had an error, so here is the correct image, it was missing the arrows of chapters and bookmark

    Block External Links

It would be good to have a global setting to block or disable all external links (eg IMDB, TheMovieDb etc). The refresh metadata feature works really well but also includes these links, ideally I'd prefer my server host to stay largely anonymous so would prefer not to have any of these accidentally clicked and then start to appear in analytics etc. Granted, 1 click in many millions for imdb is hardly going to be noticed but still, it should be an easy setting to sort.

    Strange web UI problems

So this strange interface bug just started appearing for me. My set-up is a bit convoluted, but essentially I'm running Emby in a FreeBSD jail on FreeNAS, which itself is virtualised on a Proxmox VM host with PCI passthrough of a HBA for HDDs. Yesterday I replaced my HBA with a different one and upgraded Proxmox from version 3.4 to 5.2. Everything and all my numerous other containers and VMs have been running smoothly with absolutely no issues since upgrading. Except Emby. The video playback interface is obviously missing abunch of stuff. Full screen button, subtitle selection, quality selection, artwork, etc. The progress bar and FF buttons are broken too. Volume control and pause work, but have some other bugs. And then when returning to the main menu via the back button (which usually also has the logo of the media, but not anymore), the playing video stays in the background. Video example: https://webm.xyz/webm/5b28c665491325000fb413a6 Since everything else is working fine I don't think there's a problem with my set-up, rather I think maybe Emby got shutdown uncleanly prior to upgrading which triggered these errors? I've ascertained that it's not due to an incorrectly set up reverse proxy, as this also happens locally when directly connecting to Emby. When using my reverse proxy, web socket connections don't work, but locally they do. This happens both with Chromium and Firefox. The Emby server logs show no errors (except the ones regarding TLS1.2 and Github). The Javascript console in the Browser shows a few errors on the main page already: Edit: this one is actually due to adblock Loading failed for the <script> with source “http://<localname>/web/bower_components/emby-webcomponents/fullscreen/fullscreen-doubleclick.js?v=3.4.1.0”. index.html:1 RequireJS error: Error: Load failed: bower_components/emby-webcomponents/fullscreen/fullscreen-doubleclick: http://<localname>/web/bower_components/emby-webcomponents/fullscreen/fullscreen-doubleclick.js?v=3.4.1.0. Edit: see above, this error is caused by adblock, it is unrelated to the problem though. I'm guessing it gets blocked because it has 'doubleclick' in the name though, so you should consider renaming it The following error additionally occurs when starting a video: TypeError: newValue is null[Learn More] index.html:32:21 Any ideas? 5. I have a strange issue with nvidia shield tv using emby app. It seems that the "Watched"/"Unwatched" status doesn't get updated after user sets the status on a show/episode/season unless user gets out of season and goes back into it or changes screen. STR 1. Go to a tv show screen/choose a show or episode 2. Press and hold remote button to set an episode to WATCHED or UNWATCHED 3. notice that the show/episode/season doesn't get a new status (green checkbox doesnt appear or disappear) 4. go out of current screen and go back in ** notice that the show or episode now has updated status. This looks like this may be a bug.
  6. Hello everyone from Emby! This is my first post on your forums since I only started using your product since yesterday (22/09/2017). I used to work with Plex Media Server but after testing your system I'm thinking on jumping platforms for my streaming needs. So here is the issue that I'm facing: 1) After creating a library and scanning the library, I'm faced with a lot of shows with automatically downloaded metadata (which is fine and works perfectly) but also some shows with incorrect matches or no matches at all. I tried finding an option to "fix incorrect match" like I used to do it in PMS and so I found the "Identify" option to basically fix the metadata of each series. Again, until then everything is working perfectly. So after pressing the "identify" option, we get the "identify" window/form where you can actually type in a Name and then search for possible metadata match in the DBs. Now here comes the issue... after I've typed a Name and submit my request, I'm often faced with many possibles metadata choices that could match with my Name. The real problem here is that I'm not shown the complete names of all those possible matches; they are being cut after about 19 characters which is way too small in my case. Some more details to completely explain the issue: -I've only been faced with this annoying issue with Anime titles for Series and Movies since Anime titles are often very long and often have multiple seasons and special episodes starting with the same long title meaning we're seeing the same "Names" in the Metadata Matches. i.e. *Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch *Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch R2 *Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch Special Edition Black Rebellion *Code Geass: Hangyaku no Lelouch Picture Drama *etc, etc... Most of them only show "Code Geass: Hangyak...". I haven't seen an option to change the format to see complete names. Is there some kind of hidden function I have not seen? I'm all ears! 2)Following directly from issue 1, I click on the wrong metadata match and I want to go back by clicking on the back arrow (top left corner of the previous image) or by clicking out of the window, it simply drops me back to my Library and I need to redo all the steps I mentioned to try a different metadata match. If there is no way to display the full names of all matches at this moment, is there a way to make it so that back-tracking to the metadata match window is possible? Thank you for looking into it! Best regards, Pitchblack P.S. I think Emby has a lot of great options! I enjoy it a lot.
  7. Hello. New forum member and new Emby user, here. I recently switched over to Emby from Plex for various reasons, one of them being that I was looking for a Windows Media Center replacement for DVR functionality. As such, my expectations/impressions are based on my previous experience with MCE, so factor that in to the opinions below. I realize Live/Recorded TV is a relatively new feature in Emby and still being polished, so I thought I'd add my 2 cents on some things I noticed. I did not know exactly where to put this feedback in the forums. I saw other Live/Recorded TV posts here so I figured this would work. Also, all of these feedback items are based on using the web interface via Chrome. No apps or anything like that (mostly only use the apps for playback, but will eventually set up recordings that way, too). I am using Server Version 3.0.5971.0 1) When setting up recording I manually specified the "Default Recording Path" because I was using the server interface remotely. I typed in the name of a non-existent directory hoping it would create the directory for me, but it didn't. In fact, recording did not work at all, and there was no indication of failure within the UI. Might be worth putting some kind of "directory must already exist" note there (probably assumed by most, but there's always a bigger "fool" to break the "fool-proof system"). 2) For the series recordings, I did not interpret the "Record at Any Time" flag correctly. I had unchecked all the Sunday-Saturday checkboxes and then in the "Repeating Options" section clicked the "Record at Any Time". I had figured the "any time" wording meant it would over-ride the days, but it did not seem to because no scheduled recordings showed up in the recordings list. Then again, I didn't have the recording folder set up correctly at the time (see #1), so that would definitely have prevented recording. 3) Also for series recordings -- my wife likes to have the last 10 recordings of Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert available to watch, but we don't want to keep them all. If unwatched recordings need to be deleted automatically to limit the recordings to 10, that's fine. Windows Media Center has this capability for series recordings. It would be a nice feature to have as part of the series settings. 4) In my area there are multiple over-the-air PBS stations nearby that often carry the same content. I set up a series recording for "Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood" and clicked the "Record on all channels" checkbox and noticed that the "Recordings" section showed scheduled recordings for the same episode on the 2 different PBS stations. I don't really need 2 recordings of the same episode, but maybe recording of the second episode would have been skipped after the first was recorded? Or maybe that kind of functionality only works for the "Record only new episodes" feature. 5) In the web interface I found that I often had to refresh the page to view changes I had made. For instance, when scheduling a recording, after saving it, I would go to the "Recordings" tab and not see the newly scheduled recordings. Refreshing the page would make them show up. 6) Windows MCE has/had a nice keyword-based recording scheduling ability for those times when you want to subscribe to a series but it is not currently being broadcast (thus there are no references to it in the current guide data). Would be a nice feature to have. Or even better -- perhaps a way to search TheTVDB.com and/or TheMovieDB or other data source to be able to set up a potential future broadcast (e.g. if I wanted to record "The Revenant" the first time it's ever broadcast on TV I could just set up a recording for it by name and then it would automatically get recorded the first time it's broadcast). This would also be useful for setting up a future recording for a specific episode that was somehow missed by the "Only new episodes" subscription. 7) For me, the guide entries are not properly displaying the Season and Episode information. I'm only seeing an "E" for Episode number. Screenshot attached. Hope this helps! Edit - revised #7 - it is showing Season and Episode correctly on recordings, but not in the guide view.
  8. Hey guys, just wondering if anyone's experiencing laggy/choppy emby theater desktop user interface? i've had this issue since day dot of the new theater, across multiple PC's, multiple TV's, and still unable to pinpoint it. Both boxes I've tried it on have been dedicated HTPC's, with nothing but NVidia drivers, emby server, emby theatre, windows 10 and windows 10 with CU, mpchc, lav, madvr. The current hardware it's running on is asus maximus ix rog mobo, i7-7700K, 16gbddr4-3200mhz, m.2 intel ssd, and gtx 1070, displayed on a Samsung KS9000 tv. Surely this hardware is capable of running the UI smoothly? I've also tried changing the increasing the priority on the electron and emby.theatre processes in taskmanager, running as administrator, adjusting NVidia driver settings to run exe's with different quality/performance settings, etc. I've tried reinstalling NVidia drivers, and re-installing emby theatre. I've noticed the emby theatre UI doesn't load up true full screen no matter what, but instead as a full screen sized window. I found in older versions I was able to shrink to a smaller window, and then re-maximize which would go proper full screen, and I'd get slightly better UI performance, but no dice this time around. Has no effect at all. I'll get a few good seconds of buttery smooth UI transitions, and then jitter city like I've gone back into 23hz. What I've just thought of now but haven't tested is wiping out all artwork, and getting it to re-download it all to a single location (cache area of emby theater on the ssd).. if that's possible.. instead of the media folders.. or does emby server grab the artworks from the local media folders and cache them anyway? accessing it from there? another thing to note: emby server is pointing to local drives, ie: G:\Storage\, as opposed to network location \\MEDIA-PC\Storage, as Emby Theater is also running on the same box as the server app. anyone experienced it or know anything else I can try? Cheers

    UI to remember scroll location.

It would be really helpful if the user interface would remember where I was when I click the back button. For example lets say I am in a season looking at episodes within the season, there are 12 episodes total. I start at the top of the page and scroll down, to episode 6, click on 6 and find out I really wanted 7 so I tap the back button the page starts at the top again and I need to scroll back down to find episode 7. It would be nice if the app remember the scroll location was at episode 6 so when I click the back button it would take me back to the exact spot I was looking on the page and I could go to episode 7 or 8 easily. This also happens when I am looking though movies and TV series, although it is a little different because it some times works. But it stops after 1 or 2 time and then gets stuck at the last location it worked at.
  10. In addtion to things like Unwatched, Collections, Genres, Years, etc. I would find it nifty if there was a grouping for Length/Duration (Length might make the most sense, but I'm open to other words), perhaps by 15 minute increments? And adding in this sort of thing other places (eg, search filters, etc., whenever those types of things get implemented) would be useful. The use case for this is that I often only have a certain amount of time to watch something, and so I'll search (in my old, custom media setup) via time groupings for what I could watch within the time I have available. So I'm interested in any ways to achieve that easily within Emby Theater. Thanks for considering my request! PS-If this is something you might like to see implemented, be sure to "Like" this top/first post (as well as any subsequent posts in this thread that highlight particular aspects of what you are interested in) -- "Liking" the top/first post helps the Devs to know how much interest there is in a given Feature Request.

It was a great template and an inspiration for me to make this theme. (I also grabbed a few of your icons )
  12. For the life of me, I can't figure out a way to do a simple search for a title on this W10 store app. Either it is inexplicably missing, or buried so someone as dumb as myself can't find it. I'm I the only one to be baffled by how I can perform a search?

UI issue in auto organize pop-up

See screenshots below. Just a little tweak necessary after the latest Android Mobile app. Can't confirm whether this looks the same in WebUI right now. Someone else will, or I'll reply/edit after my next failed file appears. Padding/margin seems to be based taking a backseat to the width determined by the length of the filename string.
  14. Anybody out there with experience with Android Widgets? I've done some work on widgets before, and if my schedule lightens up, I'd love to help develop widgets for Emby Android Mobile. Capabilities would include (but not be limited to) list of recent episodes in favorited series (rss style) and list of favorite movies (also rss style). Capabilities for admins would include server stats: storage quotas, cpu and memory usage, temperatures could be integrated with a future hwmonitor plugin, number of current users, number of current streams. All these items should be clickable directly to their location inside the app, but looking for feedback from any other devs with Android widget experience.

    Music UX improvement

I would like to propose some changes to the Music section UX, which I think would bring some improvements. After playing in there and using the music section for a while, some things I've noticed are a little bit annoying. I will refer at this image, red notations representing sections and yellow ones buttons. 1: When making queues on the go, I want to click the 3 dots button (button #3) to reveal the menu. The problem is if you hover to long over the image, the black cover with thumbs appears and a click over the button #3 will start the album's playback. This will just kill your queue and play the first track. I suggest that the button #3 always stays on top, or that area #1 remains uncovered: this could allow for other futur buttons next to #3 that would remain uncovered. Leaving the buttons on top seems to be the best option though. 2: Everywhere in Emby, clicking the thumb or poster image will get you to a detailed page. In the music section though, this just starts playing the album. If you want to access the detailed page, you need to click the 3 dots to get to the alternate menu, then click open. This is confusing and should be kept the same all over the app: clicking the poster (like area #4) should bring you to the detailed page of the item. Plus, "navigation" clicks happen way more often than "play" clicks. Thus, clicking the thumb or poster should be used for navigation and not playback. For the same reason, I think that area #2 should also bring to the detail page and not start playback. For playback, there is a "play" button that serves this purpose. In area #2, only the yellow buttons should represent other actions than getting to the detail page. Tell me what you think 3psus
  16. This is a request from my wife, who likes Plex better because you can select the audio track and subtitles before launching the movie. I like MBT better as an all-in-one solution to Plex's more limited capacity, but I have to hand this one to her: that feature really is nice when dealing with a lot of foreign-language content.
  17. I recently switched from plex to emby, and have really been enjoying my experience thus far. Just thought I should share a minor erk I found. When enhanced presentations are disabled (Preferences -> Display tab -> View Styles), if I go into a library folder and click on a video, there still seems to be an overly cluttered menu at the top (picture: http://i.imgur.com/Ydy8l4c.jpg). Clicking some of those links leads me to a new page, and changes the order of the menu entirely. Although this is by no means a big issue, it really causes loss of consistency. I personally never use these (cool) fancy organizational tools like people, networks, genres, etc., and it would be nice to have those entirely out of site when enhanced presentation is not enabled.
  18. Dear coders, admins, et al., I enjoy Media Browser and have been using it for a long time. This is my first post: it's a critique (a nicer way of saying "criticism") of the new and evolving interface. The Media Browser Classic interface is evolving in a direction that I dislike. By default it attempts to be very fancy with posters flying all over the place, but this sacrifices usability for mere eye candy. For finding media to play (the true purpose of a media player, IMO), this pales in comparison to the dense, innate usability of a windows-centric, mouse and keyboard, text-based list interface. The interface I just described most efficiently supports my expectations. My expectations are to (1) quickly find one of a handful of new movies that have been loaded to my hard drive, or (2) find an old movie that I want to re-watch. By "new" I mean that the directory entry (e.g. "The Matrix (1999)") or the movie file (e.g. "The Matrix (1999)\Matrix.mkv" since I may have upgraded the file) has a newer, modified timestamp. By "old" I mean that I want to search for it by name, alphabetically. I know where everything is. I have my movies in separate folders that describe the source (DVD collection, movies ripped, movies downloaded), the type (DVD, Bluray), etc. What I want is a sticky option to put EVERYTHING in list view and I want it to survive version upgrades and installs. I suggest you provide a drop-down that selects the default view then afterward, the user, at their discretion, can configure different views here and there where appropriate. To find new movies, you can provide an option to list "New Movies" and I want to configure (1) how many days or weeks old constitutes "new" and (2) the maximum # of movies to list therein. I want the option to drop into one of my scan folders where I can use pg-up, pg-down, use the mouse scroll wheel or hit the first letter of the movie to QUICKLY find the movie. Crucially, I want to configure multiple top-level entry points that allow me to enter the same directory but with different sort orders: I want to click on "DVD Movie Collection by Timestamp" and enter D:\Movies.DVD.Collection, sorted by timestamp. I can then find my newest movies. Give me that and you can throw out the "New Movies" entry point. But I ALSO want to click on "DVD Movie Collection by Name" and enter the folder sorted alphabetically. If I feel like perusing by genre (for the rare occasion when I don't have a specific movie I intend to watch), I want to click on "Genre" and "Sci-Fi by Timestamp" or "Sci-Fi by Name". To summarize: I care not a whit (OK, perhaps one or two whits) about a fancy interface because it's INEFFICIENT. I want an EFFICIENT, FAST interface where I can quickly find the movie I desire to watch. Go ahead and make fancy interfaces for other devices and other purposes: it's important. But for people like myself, PLEASE provide a quick, list-based, keyboard and mouse wheel, windows-centric interface that can be made the default, is sticky and is recursive against every view and subfolder.

    Android TV Mockups

Hello all! As a bit of an exercise in UI design, I've been creating a UI mockup for Android TV in Photoshop, and I'd love the community's feedback. Please be gentle, though, as I'm a systems administrator by trade who is really new to the whole application design thing, but I'm hoping to someday make a career out of it. The album, with all images and descriptions can be found here. Here's a couple for starters, sorry about the size/aliasing: Thanks, guys! --edited to embed images
  20. Hi Roku Devs, Might it be possible to [have an option to] increase the length of recently added for TV. Sometimes i dont get to watch anything until the weekends when there are perhaps 20 additions added. So i current limit (12?) is overly restrictive for me. Maybe i am not the only one. Thank you for considering.
  21. Hi Roku Dev Team, When lists are are very long eg. 1000 Movies, 600 Artists it can take a while to find content, The search helps of course but is not as ergonomic as a fast 'browse to' Might it be a useful option to allow the seek buttons on remote to jump to next character eg Start of B's, C's D's etc.. Maybe an option - "Seek Behaviour in UI" Page Up/Down, Next/Prev Letter (Fixed), Dynamic (Page Up/Down for lists < 75?, Next/Prev Letter for lists >=75) If holding down the seek for more than x seconds could change the behaviour to scrolling through letters which appear on the screen even better IMO (making dynamic suggestion redundant?) What do you think to this suggestion or something like it? thanks for consideration.

    UI Issues

dpi settings are at 150% (default) recommended by OS/NVIDIA drivers plugged into TV - i get the same and need to ALT TAB to get back to details screen - OS seems to be treating as to seperate/independant GUI windows.
