  1. 3.0.5502.3522 Specials (S00E01 tested in particular) have a propensity to appear too soon in the next up calculation. Assuming, for testing, saved changes to the attributes - airs before/after season/episode, are reread after a library scan I have an S00E01 which i can not get to NOT appear 1st for a completely unwatched show under next up...The correct location should be at end of season 1. But S00E01 stubbornly shows up in next up. Possibly related to this http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/13324-special-watched-status-is-affecting-series-next-up-presence/?hl=%2Bspecials+%2Bnext&do=findComment&comment=150785 From TVDB Wiki FWIW my expectations as a user would be Specials with [airs before season]=blank,[airs after season]=blank, [airs before episode]=blank - would never appear on next up...they are special interest episodes that dont form part of the flow of watching eg. making of show type specials, as opposed to a Christmas Special which should be marked to appear in the order of watching...as it forms part of the story. Specials with either [airs before season] or [airs after season] - would appear on next up in the order of [Airs after Season]=1 would Come before [Airs Before Season]=2 so Season 1 Episodes < Airs After Season 1 Episodes < Airs Before Season 2 Episodes Airs before episode is a bit of a mystery as to what is being referenced to..to avoid ambiguity it presumably means for eg Airs Before Season=2, Airs Before Episode=5.... of all the specials that are tagged as such ( [air before season]=2), the position of this special is AFTER those specials with [Airs Before Season]=2 and with [Airs Before Episode]<5, and BEFORE specials with [Airs Before Season]=2 and with [Airs Before Episode]>5. It should not be allowed for two episodes to have the same Airs Before Season/Episode Pair. It also shouldnt be possible for Airs before Episode to be populated and Airs before Season to not be populated, but if this was the case, then I think MB3 should not consider the episode part of next up in any case (The metadata needs correcting on tvdb).

    New inherit field

This new inherit field sucks. It screws up my TV ID fields and it has no useful purpose other than to complicate what was a simple procedure. For example, Empire a 2015 series is not recognized properly by the server. I have been to themoviedb, imdb, and thetvdb. I've entered the correct id # and it still sees it as an older mini series. Now I can't add an ID field at all! So now when I go to see what's upcoming, guess what? EMPIRE ISN'T THERE! I follow over 30 current TV shows and I and I have over 1.5 TB of data to maintain. I need the upcoming feature to work properly. Now I have to check each and every TV show in my TV folder to insure that I catch every other show. C'mon guys, KISS!
  3. I am trying to download and install the Samsung Smart TV app but am having no success. I have successfully logged in as developer with pwd 000000 and set the IP address to 173.230.139.54. When hitting User App sync it connects and begins to download the mediabrowser3 app. A progress bar is shown and when it progresses to the end, it just hangs and nothing happens. I am using smart hub on my home theatre system not sure if that is an issue, home theatre model is Samsung HT-E5550. Any advice?
  4. I currently have the MB Classic client installed on a windows PC connected directly to my TV using a media center remote, which works great. I am now looking for an alternative to using a PC connected to my TV, any suggestions? I have tried chromecast and Xbox One which work great, but streaming to my TV is not what I am after. I would like the full MB Classic experience on the TV as you have when using MB Classic on a PC. I know the Samsung TV app is in testing at the moment and will be the answer to my issue, just not sure if there are any other alternatives that I am not aware of? Any help would be appreciated.
  5. v.523 (I think, downloaded yesterday) The Samsung client is marking partially watched tv content as watched. All the other clients do not seem to set the watched flag until the content is fully watched. Consequently, partially watched tv content on Samsung, does not show on tv next up (on any other clients).
  6. A recent update (assuming it was a Server Update) changed the way Multiple-Level Folders display. To explain what I mean....... For Example: I have 5 Batman TV-Series. Each Series has multiple Seasons. I placed the 5 Series under a "Collections" Folder. So the folder structure would look like the following: -BATMAN COLLECTION -Batman Adventures -Season 1 -Season 2 -Batman Beyond -Season 1 -Season 2 -Batman Adventures -Season 1 -Season 2 etc....... SO, when scrolling through my TV Series the Top-Level folder I see is BATMAN COLLECTION. I select this folder and I see Batman Adventure, Batman Beyond, Batman Adventures, etc... If I select Batman Adventures I used to see Season 1, Season 2, Season 3 etc... Then when selecting a Season I would see each episode. That was before, now when I select a Series (Batman Adventures) I see ALL Episodes and not each Season displayed. I haven't made any setting changes in quite some time, so I am assuming this is due to an update?? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks - John.

    On Demand TV

Hi All, We are a school with 1500 users and absolutely love this product, another feature that would be great to have is On Demand TV, BBC iplayer, Channel 4, Channel 5 and any other on demand channels, i know ITV player is there and works well. is there more on demand players in the works? Cheers Nathaniel
  8. Hello: I installed the trial version of Media Browser on my son's Dell Venue 8 Pro tablet (Windows 8.1). After setup, I noticed Recorded TV wasn't listed, so I went to my main PC (server) and added Recorded TV to the library. I then went back to his tablet, restarted MB and Recorded TV was listed, albeit in the Folders section. I went back to my PC and, in the MB dashboard, selected the hamburger icon in the upper left. I found my way around to where I was able to place and then reorder the Recorded TV to the main menu. I thought maybe that would help (but not really, because how could a simple reorder make the files appear?) but it didn't, the recorded shows were nowhere to be found. Does someone have an answer as to why the show don't appear in the Recorded TV folder in MB on a Windows 8.1 tablet? I'm sure I'm missing a setting somewhere, but so far haven't been able to locate what that something is. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide. Joe

    TV Naming Guide

  10. I am a user of MB Classic with the chocolate theme and would like to know if there is a way to display if each TV show is still running or has ended
  11. 3.0.5436.38101 for series and episodes, tmdb was priority as metadata provider (downloader) over tvdb.. for season, tvdb not showing as metadata provider,..only tmdb is this expected?
  12. Version 3.0.5434.27057 (although not peculiar to this version) I have a series 'toast of london' that would never show up on next up despite watching episode after episode of series 00 then 01.. I have Season 00, 01, 02. turns out that if i set the watched status of the single special episode S00E01 to unwatched, then the next episode in season 01 would appear on next up. With S00E01 set to watched, no episode from season 1 would ever appear on next up With S00E01 set to unwatched, any of the episodes after the last watched from season 1 would show up. ie the issues is 100% re-reproducible, as i flag s00E01 watched/unwatched and test. The only thing i can forsee as being unusual about S00E01 is that TVDB has it marked to air before S01E01. indeed S00E01 shows up under season 1 in the webclient (maybe thats expected now?) tested from web client. any ideas? the other strange thing...having deleted all the XML from the media collection folders for this series, no amount of scans will fetch the xml back...although mb has no trouble knowing what it is. (under details of the show the tvdb metadata/links are all there) completing removing then readding the show seems to get the show and season (but not episode) xml back again... turns out the logs report a problem, even though there is nothing wrong with the tvdb get, and the show is indeed found 2014-11-17 21:07:38.4081 Info - App: HttpClientManager GET: http://www.thetvdb.com/api/GetSeries.php?seriesname=Toast+of+London 2014-11-17 21:07:38.8402 Info - App: TVDb Provider - toast of london did not match toast of london 2014-11-17 21:07:38.8402 Info - App: TVDb Provider - Could not find Toast of London. Check name on Thetvdb.org. even after a complete show removal, rescan, show re-add to library and rescan..the watched status of s00E01 still controls whether the show shows on next up.
  13. IMO it is undesirable and counter intuitive that if i start (for example) S01E03 of Modern Family, Stop half way...and close start a client (eg Roku) the next day....look at tv 'next up' (aka suggested) and see S01E04 as 'suggested' not S01E03 (with the default option of resume from where i left off) yes S01E03 is under resume...but wouldn't users prefer S01E03 under 'suggested' in preference to S01E04 so the feature request is an option (possibly the default option/or indeed just the default with no option) that resume tv content is part of next up/suggested (and resume is the default play action in clients). And of course if there is a resume episode in suggested then the next episode of the show...would not show, Im trying to think of a reason why people wouldnt want this as default..but cant... but if there were any naysayers, an option on clients to mark resume content as either complete/watched or not watched/not started) in a simple way...would probably handle them..which i think has its own feature request. although a side issue to this feature request...such client functionality (to easy manage watched status) might become more useful once a feature to sync content offline becomes available..a although a native client would presumably sync watched status on recconnection, its not 100% guaranteed that synced content would be watched using the official client? one question..if 'resume' is a subset of 'next up' then why have 'resume'..... maybe its not required... one use may be people who do not want tv shows added to next up if they haven't completely watched 1 full episode.. imo it would be better to remove resume....and add such half watched content/shows to next up...safe in the knowledge the client can tag an episode unwatched (and if its the oldest episode (S01E01), then remove the show from next up suggested entirely). thanks for considering.
  14. i have 2 drives with tv shows (mom, dad). there are some shows that both of us watch. is there any way to add individual series to a library? thanks.
  15. Hi all, I'm using an android minix box connected to my TV, however it doesn't seem as compatible running on a TV as say Plex (sorry for swearing!). For example, the pause/play button on the remote does nothing - you have to "click" on the screen with the mouse remote. Also, if you change the TVs aspect ratio, say wide zoom, the progress bar along with the pause button can disappear into the screen. Plex doesn't seem to do this - be really cool if you guys could implement something! Cheers,
  16. Hi All, I'm sure I've seen this brought up some time ago, but I couldn't find a topic in here. I was wondering if in the future it will be possible to use the Auto-Organize feature on movies, as well as television. I love being able to add television shows to my watched folder and have MBS take care of the renaming and organizing. Having a similar feature for movies would be great as well (as some other users agree, from what I remember of it being discussed in the past). I don't remember what the developer response was to the possibility of this feature, this is why I'm making a new thread for it. Thanks, Patrick
  17. Hi, I'm running MediaBrowser for Win7x64 and I use Media Center TV with set-top-boxes. It's great to be able to log in to media browser outside of my home and watch live tv or older recordings from a web browser. The only thing that bugs me is when I watch active recordings. I cannot seek. Like right now I'm recording a live tv sports event and it's a 360 minute recording and the only way for me to watch the active recording is to start from the beginning. If I stop and want to start again later, I have to start from the beginning. It's impossible to seek into the active recording. Once the recording has finished It's just like a normal video file and I can seek but I often I would like to watch when recordings are active. For me this is almost an unusable feature to use. Would it be possible to make seeking available feature for active tv recordings (WMC) ? Best regards, Arni Thor

    TV, questions, comments

When browsing in the initial TV page, there is a header at the top of the screen with menu selections for " suggestions, latest, episodes, genre" etc. on my installation, when I'm perusing TV and I select "episodes" from the aforementioned menu, I end up getting ALL episodes from ALL shows being displayed. It's a bit of a cluster if you know what I mean. Not very helpful. Is there some way to get to get MB to display ONLY the episodes from the selection show? or even better a season from the show? Thanks
  19. Anyone else not seeing latest media updates on respective pages? I recently moved all my media to new drives, I did this by dropping existing paths and repointing to new UNC paths. I have since added new media to these new paths and out of all the media added only one movie showed up in the recently added area. Any ideas or anyone else running into similar issues? Thanks, Draz Version 3.0.5366.22005
  20. We've had a bit of a discussion in the Samsung TV App forum about 3D content and how MBS identifies it. It appears that MBS only recognises 3D content if there is a tag (HSBS, FSBS, HTAB, FTAB) in the name of the content. The main question that was raised during the discussion was, how does a 3D TV decide if content was 3D so as to auto-switch to 3D mode ? Anyone know the answer ? Thanks.

    TV Listings Issues

As I understand it, Microsoft gets program guide data from Zap2it, based on location and provider. When new channels become available, CableCARD users cannot access them until Zap2it populates their database with the relevant information for those channels. Having tried many different times to provide requests for such updates via feedback@zap2it.com -- and having all those attempts result in no updates -- I wonder if any MediaBrowser users are aware of the proper way to get new channels on our systems?

    TV Show Views

Let me preface this by saying that I'm coming from years of using MB2. I've started playing around with MBT and movies and TV look fantastic. I've noticed though that when viewing TV that there are so many extra button clicks that I'm never going to get it past the WAF. I like the poster view. If I click a show poster, then it will open up and then I have to click Seasons at the top and then click the season (even if it's a single season) and then click the show. Is there any way to have it default into seasons (honestly, I don't need to see a synopsis of the show every single time I click on it) and directly into episodes if there is one season? I'm still learning my way around it so perhaps I missed it. Thanks Josh
  23. Hi: I'm using Media Browser on my Lumia 920 with Developer Preview 8.1. Media Browser has worked flawlessly up until about two weeks ago when, for no apparent reason, one recorded show stopped appearing in the list of all recorded items. Earlier, I had changed the name of the recorded show and added my own episode # to make it easier when viewing on my phone (rather than Seinfeld_TBSHCHB_2014_07_05_17_00_01, for example, I changed it to Seinfeld Episode 23). It worked for two weeks (I could see the show in question) but three weeks ago, it disappeared. I tried refreshing, cleared the logs, etc but the show won't reappear. I've done the renaming for other shows and it's worked fine. Any idea on how to get this one particular show to reappear? Joe

    Record TV not working

For a few weeks I have set up to record a few programs but when I go to play them there is nothing but a lot of 1 minute wtv files in the TempSWMC/savedForDebug folder. I am using Media Browser Server Version 3.0.5309.26857 (Beta), ServerWMC. on a Win7 PC. During the recording times there has not been any activity on the server (I have been out of the house) I have 3 tuners in my PC/server. It's got to the stage where I am thinking of just going back to Media Center as this has worked for me for years. But I really want to use Media Browser as it's fantastic for streaming over my home network and great for streaming music over internet when I;m away from home. I still can't stream movies remotely, probably the internet speed. Sorry I'm not sure what log files you need to help me with this.

    Phillips Smart TV

I recently purchased a Phillips SmartTV. I also recently upgraded my old MediaBrowser for Windows 7 Media Center to the latest server/client on the web site. My Windows Media Center looks and works great! But when I try to connect to the DLNA server via my new TV, there is a problem. I can see the server. I can browse to my movie/TV show folders. But as soon as I rest the cursor (on the TV) on a video file, the screen goes blank for about 2 seconds....and then it dumps me out to the menu. The TV is a 4000 series 32PFL4909. The server is running on a quad core processor with 8 GB of RAM. As of now, I am connected via WiFi but I plan on connecting via wired Gbit Ethernet. However, over the wireless, I am streaming HD video via NetFlix and other apps on the TV just fine. I have no problem going through the logs and such. I am an IT guy. I just thought I would post this topic first and see if this was something you folks had seen before and knew of an easy fix. Thank you in advance for the help. Happy
