    Downlad does not start

Hi there! I use emby Version on a synology disk station. So far it runs well. I purchasesd emby permiere because i need the downlad to device feature for offline listening. On my android device i tab on the download butten e.q. in a album view. The download gets prepared an after the transcoding i see the download on the server with the hin "ready for download". On my Android device i see the "ready for download" also in the download settings menu. But the download never starts. I can not find any button or whatever to start it. If i tab on the prepared ready for doenload object i get a menu with a save button at the end. If i tab that the menu closes and nothing happens. How can i start the download???? It is very sad that this feature isnt working because it is the reason why i switched to emby. Hopefully someone ot there with a solution? Greetings Alex Ah i dont know if its important but most of my music files have flac encoding.
  2. Dear Community Experts, I am a newbie and I like Emby a lot. I have Synology DS415+. Since installing Emby, Synology unit is messed up with hibernation - basically, the unit wakes every 30min / 1hr when there is no need for it. When I uninstall Emby, NAS goes into hibernation very nicely. It does look like the Emby server in NAS is impacting hibernation. I tried to adjust 'scheduled tasks' even to once/week (e.g., media indexing, media scan, etc), however this does not. I would be grateful if experts in the community have solution to fix this issue. Thanks so much.

Where is the update for Synology?

Hi! I just wounder why my Synology NAS can't see the update in the Package Center? Hasn't it been released yet for that platform? I wounder because when I'm in the Control-panel for the Emby server it says that the update is ready to download. But when I go to my NAS and open the package center it says that is the latest. I have tried with refreshing the package center and restarting the server and even shut it down but there are no update. So if the update for Synology NAS is out please tell me what to do. If not please fix so that it only show that there is an update when there really is one out for the platform. Thanks anyway for a great media service!!!
  4. Hello, Emby on my synology version does not download subtitles from opensubtitle. It seems like an error in permissions. I have however changed permissions on the folders using 0777 and also the emby user has read and write permissions. 5. Hey guys, Running Emby Server on my Synology DS216j and a client on a nvidia Shield (Android TV) I am wondering why some files are having to be transcoded (see attached log) The same file seems OK when running in Emby Theater (on my PC) Anything I should be doing different? Any way you guys can help? Thanks
  6. Hi, As @@Luke asked for logs here - I'm making this thread in Synology section since I'm using server on DS916+ I have a problem with external ass subs. Tried few clients (server restart before, tested in that order - might be useful info while reading logs), and that's what I've got: Windows: Emby Theater: ASS ok, Direct Playing Chrome - ASS ok, Direct Streaming, F11 fullscreen OK Raspberry: Emby for Kodi- ASS shows, but no formating/color Kodi directly from NAS share - ASS OK - just to check, that Pi/Kodi itself can handle it Android: App: Not playing movie at all - movie not starting, som other plays ok, and once after trying others tested file started but only with English subs, and after closing it - again not starting ... Chrome: ASS OK, Direct Streaming, Fullscreen OK VLC directly from NAS share without Emby - ASS OK Ipad App - transcoding 3.2 Mbps, no subs, even embedded English are not working Chrome - Direct Streaming, ASS works, but not on fullscreen (I know, that subs in browser is some kind of hack - Luke explained me already in different thread) Safari - same as Chrome Ipad VLC directly from NAS - Video plays, I see english subs, but external ass are not available (no on list) All tests made on same video file, transcoding in server set to not using VA API - only software. Bellow I attach logs from this debug session. If this will help, I can send link to tested video/subs (it's less than 300mb) ffmpeg-remux-2b9e70bb-7c04-4f5d-8fad-b45472958b51.txt ffmpeg-remux-20af0644-03d6-47aa-9c37-51620505dd21.txt ffmpeg-remux-923d313f-12c8-4b5e-821d-633a37c9e8e1.txt ffmpeg-remux-abc20902-069f-400a-a4d9-00a13c17bd83.txt ffmpeg-remux-abf09d87-c4b6-4b74-b04f-b2c0674e7d8a.txt ffmpeg-transcode-7ed88e21-482c-4990-b358-669f78c3df2e.txt ffmpeg-transcode-1223dba0-0ba2-4da7-a12c-afa53a1a40cf.txt ffmpeg-transcode-bcb65f5a-7982-414a-8685-07aa9ef18ee7.txt server-63635074186.txt server-63635117859.txt
  7. Hi everybody, Its a request that probably only hits synology user but i think it would help this media platform to become the best ever My problem is that the synology has folders in every media-folder with the name "@eaDir" and when i browse the Metdata-Manager and the TV-Section from my Emby-Server in any folder is a subfolder called "@eaDir" and i cannot delete it or make it invisible. That "@eaDir"-directorys where made from several processes runnning on my DS, i can delete them but i dont know side effects. I'm not good in progamming but i think the best way to solve that problem for DS users will be a set of personally choosen exclude word for excluding folders or names that i don't want to process in the media scan. This can also be used for excluding sample that some people deliver with their tv series. Hope i can find some supportes that find this idea good. Cheers Angel1835

    Favorites kodi and synology

Hi. I installed the Emby server to my synology 1010 server. Via the Emby dashboard i added favorite movies. Somehow the Emby favorites folder on Kodi remains empty. When Emby was running from my PC before, the favorites would be accessible from within Kodi. Now the Emby favorites folder remains empty. Any suggestions perhaps?
  9. Question for folks, and while I've run my own server/library for quite a few years now, I'm not entirely sure the best language to use with the community, so please bear with me. I did some searching for relevant threads, but I'm not entirely sure what to keyword search on, truth be told. I just picked up a Synology 916+, and I'm running the Emby app as a server on it. Running great. Question is about transcoding support. I went with the shield because it can stream some of the widest selection of video and audio codecs. But when I was running Moana for my son, I noticed the 916+ CPU was pegged at 100%. Not shocking if it's transcoding. I confirmed in the logs that it WAS transcoding, I'm just trying to understand why. It's an MKV package with h.264 encoding, two audio streams encoded, DTS-HD pass thru and DTS-HD -> AAC. I'll post two different sections of logs. I'm not sure the most relevant. The one first looks most relevant, but will include a block after that (from earlier in the log) that might be: Block 1: I think most relevant Stream #0:0: Video: h264 (Main), yuv420p(tv, bt709, Next Synology Update

Hi @solabc16 When will the next update for emby be as the Version is giving me nothing but issues Dropping out is the major issue. Becomes hidden from my network and to get it working I have to stop and start the server in synology. Anyone else having this issue?
  11. Problem:- Running Emby server on a Synology NAS, playing files using MX Player as external player on a Minix U1 to TV. Plays the video fine ( in particular hevc/h265) and eac3 audio etc BUT external srt subtitles are not passed to the MX Player. I would very, very happily pay for premium emby if there is a fix for this - I can't find it... some background Really quite peeved and fed up long time Plex user ( and Plex Pass payer...) - the official Android TV Plex client will not play eac3 and is gimped so it won't use an external player like MX Player ( which not only plays everything but also feeds back watched statuds etc to Plex). The official Plex for Kodi addon is an improvement actually on the offical plex cleint, but even so that also has issues with eac3... meanwhile... an old, old 3rd party Plex client called Serenity, which hasn't been updated for over a year (!) DOES support Mx player and so plays all these files AND passes the srt subtitles from the NAS to the player... I'd far prefer to move to Emby....

    No Photos - Synololgy

My photo library will not show the photos. There are home videos mixed in with the photos (direct download from phone folder) and I can view the videos through the Photo library but not the photos. The Library is set to photos and nothing else. I can't see them on any device or web interface but the thumbnail for the photo folder is made of photos that I can't see oddly enough. Log

    Emby server crashes

I'm running emby server on my DS1815+ for quite a while now. I expanded the RAM to 6 GB with the official memory. I'm running version 3.0.8500.0 For some magical reason emby server stops running once in a while. It can run for a week and it can crash twice a day. Usually it happens when adding new movies to the library. Added Logs: First log is when all is right and the second two are small logs in that apear with an exception. I have no idea what they mean. What did I do: - Disabled DNLA server - Disabled atomatic portmapping Because this was mentioned in another topic regarding frequent crashes. This might be solved in the new server that has not been pushed to synology users atm, but it might be something else. Other than that I'm still a happy EMBY user!!! Log9.txt Log10.txt Log11.txt

    Considering Emby...

Hi there, I'm exploring switching to Emby from my old, custom built setup which consists of: an MS Access database for holding all my data, scraping IMDB, etc.; a SnapStream Firefly RF PC Remote; VLC (running in one-instance mode, headless, using the dummy interface, and the http interface ); and a custom web interface (that I can control via hotkeys via my remote) which sends commands to VLC. My multi-terabyte library of files consists primarily of fully ripped DVD VIDEO_TS folders, with full DVD menu support via VLC. And then I also have a some amount of mpeg files. VIDEO_TS rips consist of movies (single and multi-disc sets) and tv shows (mostly multi-disc, with some as many as 60 disc folders). My video files are stored primarily on a NAS, but are also spread across several other network shares (on Windows computers). I am considering switching to something like Emby because my current metadata system is a bit tedious (eg, I manually enter the title, copy/paste the IMDB ID, and at times manually enter other details), and I'd like to benefit from that and other things that Emby can (I believe) do better than my custom system (which I haven't updated in years, other than adding movies, etc. to it). I am primarily interested in watching movie/tv DVD folders on Windows 10 computers, in a home LAN environment (everything is on the same subnet). Watching on Roku or portable devices is fairly secondary (especially portable devices). I might explore using Roku just for browsing my library (in instances where I'm already in Roku from viewing/considering other video sources), and then can switch to my PC for full DVD menu support (which I understand probably doesn't work in Roku). So, with all that background/context, I have some questions: I'm unclear on what I need to install, and in which locations/computers, in order to have full DVD menu support when playing VIDEO_TS folders. My impression is that installing the Emby server on one machine would allow that Windows machine to play files locally (no transcoding) and thus support full DVD menus. But I'm unclear then on what I would install on another Windows computer for the same functionality. I am considering upgrading to a Synology NAS (which I believe it is possible to install Emby on), so any thoughts, recommendations, caveats, etc. regarding going that route (vs installing on one of the Windows computers) are appreciated. I particularly wonder if there would be any issues with Emby being on the NAS while some of the additional network shares would be on other computers (you can assume that I know how to create user permissions on Windows shares to grant access to whatever the Emby Server on Synology user would be). It does occur to me that my Roku is on a different subnet than the CAT cable LAN, but one of my computers is a laptop which can be connected to both subnets (one via cable, one via WiFi), so I wonder if I'd need to install the server on that if I want the Roku to be able to access my Emby server data? If I wanted to, could I configure Emby such that VLC could handle playing the VIDEO_TS folders on either computer (let's just assume two Windows computers for the moment)? My goal here would be no transcoding, but playing the folders locally over the network such that I'd have the benefit of full DVD menu support via VLC. Have you all ever considered bundling VLC with Emby Theater (in contexts that VLC will work) and using the http interface (like I mention above) to provide full DVD menu support for VIDEO_TS folders? Or alternatively, providing the option of an additional config file where a user could set their parameters related to their VLC config (ie, in this case, the user would have to take care of starting VLC [headless, if they wised] and configuring it however they wished)? I'd love to have the benefits of Emby Theater, but still be able to play everything (or at least designated types, such as VIDEO_TS folders) via VLC, similar to how I currently do via my custom browser interface. Since most of my library is using VIDEO_TS folder rips, and many of these contain extras, I'm wondering if there is any kind of online database that Emby can pull data from regarding Extras that are contained on a given DVD (or Blu-ray, though I'll be using the Media Stubs feature for Blu-ray discs, as I don't typically rip those because of size/space)? I have access (within my custom database) to the UPC for all of my DVD folders, if there is a way to do lookups based on that. I have seen in forum posts and the Wiki that most people rip extras to individual video files and stick them in an Extras folder, but that's not a workable route for me (ie, I'm not going to convert my whole library). I'm not concerned with being able to click "play" and go straight to a specific DVD title/section (though, technically that is possible, as I do that for some items in my custom setup and just pass the proper title/chapter string to VLC), but it would be super-handy to have a list of the extras which are contained on a given DVD be retrievable online and then stored in metadata and displayed when viewing that item in Emby. I suspect this is a long shot, but figured it doesn't hurt to inquire. I'll undoubtedly have more questions, but I think those are all for now. Many thanks to any who offer thoughts, suggestions, etc.!
  16. Hi, some time ago I rescheduled all my scheduled tasks to run at certain times in the night. This was with 3.0.85. After having upgraded to 3.1.2 it seems that the times which I set are now gone and are reset to the default. This seems to be me like a bug - what do you think? I am using the official xpenology build repository. Thanks in advance!

    Monit monitoring?

Hi all, I need some help in monitoring EmbyServer using Monit. Pretty straight forward procedure to start stop synology packages in monit would be like this: start-stop-status start and start-stop-status stop but this doesn;t seem to work for the start-stop-status script packaged with EmbyServer for Synology. When i looked at the script I expected to see something different then it is now. http://pastebin.com/XXhUexzV This is my current monit script but it doesn't work: #check Emby is running check process Emby with pidfile /var/packages/EmbyServer/target/var/embysvr.pid start program = "/var/packages/EmbyServer/scripts/start-stop-status start" with timeout 180 seconds stop program = "/var/packages/EmbyServer/scripts/start-stop-status stop" if failed host localhost port 8096 with timeout 180 seconds then restart if 3 restarts within 5 cycles then timeout #if memory > 110 MB then restart #done

    Roku 3 Loading Please Wait

Hi, I'm having a problem when playing back video on my Roku 3. For the 1st 10-15 seconds the video will stop at least once (sometimes several times) and display the message "Loading, Please Wait" along with a loading status bar. I'm new to Emby. I tried messing with some settings but nothing seemed to change this. It almost seems like it is not buffering enough somewhere. My network is 300Mbps N. I haven't had this problem using other services but I don't think those services were transcoding to H.264.... I'm not sure though. I am using a new Synology DS916. Emby Version 3.0.8500.0-1. Log
  19. Hi, I have a strange problem ... For example in one dir I have season of Lucifer where each mkv has txt subs like file name ... Problem is, that for one video subs are displayed (but polish accents don't display correctly), and for other there is no subs (no matter if I try to watch through KODI or Windows Firefox) ... I attached logs from "successful" try, and no subs try. I'm not using path substitution since I prefer that server will stream everything (but have hope, that for x264 it will not transcode), but maybe I messed up with server config? no-subtitles-ffmpeg-remux-3265e7d6-1539-4579-8620-dde38d5bf855.txt no-subtitles-server-63614141652.txt subtitles-ffmpeg-remux-813b2d06-bff1-4a35-aaf5-11a3e43421bb.txt subtitles-server-63614141652.txt
  21. Hi, updated my Synology DS3615X emby server package this morning to 3.0.7300 by stopping service and then waiting for package centre to advise update was ready and then pressed update, the download seemed to go ok but when I tried to start the package kept getting "Failed to run the package service". Any ideas anyone, log is attached available at https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B_6qLrpWrZlFTV9wTndsOVd5eWc Cheers and TIA Brad PS Is there a way to reinstall the 7200 package?

    Emby on ARM (no transcoding)

Reading about the Emby package for Synology DSM out today, I wonder if/when there might be a package for non-Intel CPUs. My ds416j is probably quite slow for what Emby would like to be doing, but since I transcode everything in Handbrake and iFFMPEG anyway, it'd be used a pure playback and (very pretty, from what I can see here) digital media database.

  25. In some situation the albumartist is shown two or three times in the albumartist overview. An example of the dutch singer/songwriter Boudewijn de Groot in next picture: The albumartist Boudewijn de Groot is shown two times (as Boudewijn De Groot and as Boudewijn de Groot). The two versions contain the same albums and songs. How to combine the two versions of the same albumartist??
