  1. It would be nice to have the option to add subtitle files to a movie/episode from the web interface. Currently I have to SCP into the correct location. Adding the option to upload .srt or other files to the directory of the media would be great.
  2. Hi, Most of my movies are having a problem to display subtitles. The sub is there, it is showing "Subtitle Loading" for a few seconds then it shows "Unable to Load Subtitle" Is it a common issue on all Fire TV devices? If not, how do I fix this? Thanks, cranko
  3. Hello! It would be very nice if I could make Emby cache the Subtitles from MKV files when added! Also - As a bonus, maybe some way to activate it for already added media - Sometimes it takes a little while, so it would be nice if I could do it manually a litle while before I would like to see the Movie. Is there any possibility this could be added? Or would it be hard to make? Best Regards Jonatan
  4. Hi, As @@Luke asked for logs here - I'm making this thread in Synology section since I'm using server on DS916+ I have a problem with external ass subs. Tried few clients (server restart before, tested in that order - might be useful info while reading logs), and that's what I've got: Windows: Emby Theater: ASS ok, Direct Playing Chrome - ASS ok, Direct Streaming, F11 fullscreen OK Raspberry: Emby for Kodi- ASS shows, but no formating/color Kodi directly from NAS share - ASS OK - just to check, that Pi/Kodi itself can handle it Android: App: Not playing movie at all - movie not starting, som other plays ok, and once after trying others tested file started but only with English subs, and after closing it - again not starting ... Chrome: ASS OK, Direct Streaming, Fullscreen OK VLC directly from NAS share without Emby - ASS OK Ipad App - transcoding 3.2 Mbps, no subs, even embedded English are not working Chrome - Direct Streaming, ASS works, but not on fullscreen (I know, that subs in browser is some kind of hack - Luke explained me already in different thread) Safari - same as Chrome Ipad VLC directly from NAS - Video plays, I see english subs, but external ass are not available (no on list) All tests made on same video file, transcoding in server set to not using VA API - only software. Bellow I attach logs from this debug session. If this will help, I can send link to tested video/subs (it's less than 300mb) ffmpeg-remux-2b9e70bb-7c04-4f5d-8fad-b45472958b51.txt ffmpeg-remux-20af0644-03d6-47aa-9c37-51620505dd21.txt ffmpeg-remux-923d313f-12c8-4b5e-821d-633a37c9e8e1.txt ffmpeg-remux-abc20902-069f-400a-a4d9-00a13c17bd83.txt ffmpeg-remux-abf09d87-c4b6-4b74-b04f-b2c0674e7d8a.txt ffmpeg-transcode-7ed88e21-482c-4990-b358-669f78c3df2e.txt ffmpeg-transcode-1223dba0-0ba2-4da7-a12c-afa53a1a40cf.txt ffmpeg-transcode-bcb65f5a-7982-414a-8685-07aa9ef18ee7.txt server-63635074186.txt server-63635117859.txt

Subtitle italics tags on Apple TV 4

I just started using Emby with my personal home server where I already have a number of movies ripped and saved with their associated subtitle files. As I was testing to make sure everything works as expected, I ran across the following issue. On my Apple TV 4, subtitles with italics tags are not rendered correctly. Rather, the line is literally printed as "<i>Insert some italics text here</i>", without the quotes, of course. I tested, and this is only an issue on Apple TV 4, as far as I can tell. Italics renders correctly when viewing through the web client. Some other things you might need to know: I'm running the newest version of Emby Server (installed 6/18/17) on my Ubuntu 17.04 server. I'm running the newest version of the client software (also installed 6/18/18) on my Apple TV 4. All of the subtitle files I have are SRT format. Thanks in advance
  6. Hi, I saw is possible download the media by clicking in Download button. I have my media A.mvk with A.srt But when I try to download it, it just download the media file, without the subtitle, is possible also download the subtitle related to the media file? Thanks,
  7. I would love the ability to increase the size of subtitles on the different platforms, specially android, chrome and roku... One additional thing that would be great would be the ability to change font color, outline, drop shadow, font background... Thank you
  8. I would suggest to add the possibility to filter the library by languages, i.e. - Allow to filter for the audio and/or subtitle language. Regards Max ( Request taken from a former github issue: https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/issues/1782#event-982356301 )
  9. Hello, Just found an interesting problem. I'm using Emby with Kodi over 1.5 years everything is great. But when updated my kodis to Kodi 17 something weird happened. I installed Emby Addon with Addon Mode, subtitles encoding is not working. Turkish characters looks broken. And i thought it was Kodi's problem Also wrote on their forums but nothing came up. Oh i should tell you about my setup first. I'm using my old laptop as HTPC, near my NAS where i keep my all data (Movies, TV). Movies and TV's on network share and i'm using Emby on my laptop as server. I have 3 more client at home using Kodi. Just ten min. ago i realised, my Kodi on HTPC a video showing broken turkish subtitles but on my gaming pc same video playing turkish subtitles just fine. They are all Kodi 17, same video resources but different results. Checked Kodi's region setting, encoding settings etc. Also put an Arial.ttf with Turkish encoding. Didnt work. Then i checked addon settings, my gaming pc was using 'Direct Play' but my HTPC using 'Addon Mode'. I reset Emby addon on htpc, reconfigure with 'DirectPlay' and subtitles started working fine again. I guess its a problem with addon, maybe something with Kodi 17 handling (cus it was working fine with Kodi 16), i dont know but it was because of Addon Mode I checked Kodi and Emby logs but found nothing about subtitle encoding but if you guys want, i can post logs.

    Portuguese subtitles not loading

Not sure if this a roku channel (tested in beta and stable) or a server problem. Every time I have to load a subtitle that is identified as Portuguese it doesn't load the file. It gets stuck and after a while goes back to the previous screen. I have to rename the subtitle with the ".pob" so I can load it correctly.
  11. Hello, I'm using Emby 3.1.2.0 installed on a Linux distribution. My Media folder (video files only) live on a NAS unit being shared via cifs as read only to the Emby server. I ensured that in the Library settings, the option to not store Metadata in the same folder as the media was selected. I have configured the Subtitles function w/ my opensubtitle login info and have validated it works (via searching). The issue I'm having, however, is that it wants to download the .srt file to the Media path (my cifs share). I don't want that, the only data I want on that filesystem is the raw movie files themselves. I also don't want to expose write capabilities to the cifs share for security reasons (accidental deletion for example). All the metadata gets downloaded and stored somewhere in the app when I choose that above mentioned option in Library creation, however, I can't seem to find anywhere to override the location of where subtitles are stored. How may I go about, assuming it's currently possible, changing or providing a download path suitable to my configuration? Thanks in advance!
  12. The Problem: Resize subtitle either on the web client or on XBoxOne through transcoding I've gone through tons of post about subtitles with no use. The only thing I can configure is the .srt file it self. Is there an option for styled subtitles or and interface for subtitle size, color ..etc? What is the default codec that is used by Emby client? I think if I could reach the encoding codec configuration then I can change the size and subtitle properties. I'm currently run windows 7 and k-lite codec with all its vobsub, ffdshow, lav and more codex.

    Subtitles cause heavy lag

I hope this is the right place to put this topic in, I haven't posted before and it felt like the most relevant place. I use Emby regularly, and I primarily watch subbed anime. And as with any tv/movie style there will sometimes be multiple things conveyed on screen. So the problem is that whenever there is a large amount of subtitles on screen (Large being above the average single line) the web app will freeze up. So when a sign with multiple slanted lines of text shows up the app freezes on that frame without showing the subtitles and the audio continues without me being able to pause it. Another example from today: The episode ends and the ending theme plays, with one line horizontally in English and one vertically in Japanese. The video plays but the subs freeze and the controls don't show up when I move the mouse or click. On a related note; is split OP/ED+EP, which is common for blu-ray anime releases, in planning at all? Please excuse if my English is wrong anywhere.

    Subtitle selection

Hello, I'm using Emby Server (3.0.8500.0) for serving media onto my TV via DLNA. However, subtitles are not handled correctly. Please see this image shot of the media info (attached). My questions: 1.) Why is the first subtitle (subrip) marked as default? 2.) Why is the first subtitle (subrip) marked as forced? 3.) I have set smart subtitle handling in my profile, and set the preferred language to Hungarian. I have the hungarian external subtitle file, but it's not forced. Why? Result: first subtitle is played over DLNA which is english (forced). How can I override it to use my language preference (which is hun, set in profile settings) over DLNA? Thank you.

    French Subtitle doesn't download

Hello, i have emby on my qnap NAS, and i have an issue with subtitle, there is not any srt file for subtile in my folder and for some series i can't search (0 result) subtitle. if i search english one, italian one it's good. can you help me on this ?
  16. Hello, Anyone know how I could change the subtitle position in chromecast? Its fine in the web client, but in chromecast its too high for my taste.
  17. Would like to request support for SMI/SAMI subtitles. It's common used for Korean subtitles.
  18. I don't know about other containers, but with MKV you can set a track label/title. This is useful with subtitles because you might have 3 english subtitles. Forced, SDH, and full subtitles. If Emby could parse that out and store it, then make that available to clients (and the API) it would really help when choosing a subtitle.
  19. As of today, the 1st parameter of each item in https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby/blob/master/MediaBrowser.Server.Implementations/Localization/iso6392.txt is a 3-digit format of the language and dictates the matcheable text to be searched in a subtitle file name, for autodetection of preferred language. my example here: preferred language: pt-BR (Portuguese from Brazil) subtitle files already recognized: #######.pob.srt PROBLEMs: - VLC doesn't translates the 3-digit format, so in list it only says "pob" instead of "Portuguese (Brazil)". He only understands it when the file has "pt-BR" instead. - Subtitle downloaders usually don't use the 3-digit format, be it Windows or Linux versions - Users are forced to always rename everything to 3-digit, no choice is given to us. It happens that there's another correct way of storing the language name... using exactly the other parameters seen in the file above. in my case... a subtitle called #######.pt-BR.srt is VERY common in subtitle downloaders around the web. My question here is: is it possible to... when Emby finds a file #######.LANG.srt but no LANG as one of the 1st parameter of iso6932.txt, that it fallbacks into search the 2nd and 3rd parameters? I know that this won't impact 90% of the users. But the rest of us appreciate the help. ps: it has to be a case-insensitive search, or else the format 2-digit-lowercase-2-digit-uppercase has to be enforced in that txt.

    processing subtitles locally

When using Emby Theater to play mp4s with embedded DVDSUB subtitles (not burned it), my server's CPU utilization runs very high. It's transcoding for the subtitles. Is there any way to have ET process the subtitles itself? When I use Pot Player as an External Player the server's CPU utilization stays low because Pot Player handles everything. I'd rather use the internal player if possible though.
  23. Hi. I'm using Windows Emby server 3.0.5878.0 and latest Android App (2.5.85). I set Subtitle settings in App - Setting - Playback - Language Preferences as follows: - Audio/Suibtitle language: Korean - Subtitle mode: Smart or Default It works very well when I play video with external subtitle only (.srt), but when I play video with internal subtitle(ass, eng, default) and external one (.kor.srt), they are showed simultaneously. It is needed to select 'None' then select appropriate subtitle (external) again to correct this issue. It's fine when I start with 'None' then select appropriate subtitle. Summary: - External subtitle / internal(default) subtitle show at the same time when external subtitle loaded by Setting. - To eliminate this issue temporaly, it is needed to toggle from subtitle off. It looks like default subtitle shows whatever it is selected or not. Could you consider turn off default subtitle by default when it is not matched with language preference? Regards, testype.
  24. I'm new to Emby Live TV feature and loving it so far. Sorry if this was asked before but after a search nothing came up. I'm in Spain using a HDHR tuner (HDHR4-2DT) connected to the antenna to tune free to air channels in the DVB-T system. With digital TV we now have the option to choose different audio tracks (ie: spanish, english) and also subtitles (I think is similar to close caption in the US but not exactly the same). Question is: does Emby support to select different audio tracks from a live tv stream (I couldn't see any option) and also to enable subtitles? If yes, does Emby need to have guide data available to support it or it should work without it? Thanks
  25. Hi guys, I'm using Emby now for some time. Currently it's version 3.0.5781.9. (I compiled it from the master branch). Everything is working good, however I noticed a problem around subtitle downloading. This is a general issue I think. I had a movie called "Narcos.S01E03.The.Men.Of.Always.1080p.NF.WEBRip.DD5.1.x264-NTb.mkv". The auto-organize feature moved this from the temporary storage to the series folder correctly. Now it's name is: "Narcos - 1x03 - The Men of Always.mkv" Then subtitle handler downloaded the subtitle. However it wasn't downloading the right one. On opensubtitles there are two versions: http://www.opensubtitles.org/hu/subtitles/6301136/narcos-the-men-of-always-hu(Narcos.S01E03.The.Men.Of.Always.720p.NF.WEBRip.DD5.1.x264-NTb.srt) http://www.opensubtitles.org/hu/subtitles/6301042/narcos-the-men-of-always-hu(Narcos.S01E03.720p.WEBRip.x264-TASTETV.srt) Emby downloaded the second one which is a totally different version, and it has a delay of 20 seconds in the subs. However the first is good, I tried it manually. Is it possible to compare the subtitle name and choose the best option somehow? In this particular case it could have matched by "NF.WEBRip". Thank you
