Hello, I'm new to emby and very pleased to have found it. But on Android TV there is an issue when adding item to playlist. The buttons to validate the add or cancel are hidden. After test I know that add button is at left side. Nice to correct this. Thank you, Arsounet

When I use the Chrome app to play music via a playlist on the remote server, the music played has become out of sync with the track selected. In other words, if I select track n°10 in the playlist, it actually plays N°11 or 12. I didn't see anything in the database about that but appreciate that i might be using the wrong tags. Can anybody suggest a work around? Thanks, Steve

Emby for Android Mobile 3.1.20: Wenn starting an audiobook with lot's of files in a playlist, the tracks don't start at the beginning. So, after fininshing one track, the next track start somewhere but not at beginning. I can reproduce it as follows: Start an audio playlist and listen. Stop somewhere - end emby app start emby app Mainscreen "continue listening". Here, only the last file of the audiobook-playlist is shown unforunately but with progress bar. That's why I open this file, click "more-show album and here I start a new playback with the file i stopped. Automaticaly a new playlist is generated. And when playing this playlist, the tracks don't start at the beginning. I don't notice the bug within the webapp. Here everything seems to be fine.

Hello, I'm brand new to Emby. My use case is to provide a way for my parents to view family photos and videos on their TV that exist on their home network. I'm planning on going down the Roku path. I've looked at Plex, Emby and Roku's own Media Player app. Nothing I have found will allow the photos to play as a screensaver (unless on a USB drive plugged right into the Roku), which would be ideal, to turn the TV into a digital picture frame. For now, it seems I'll need to settle for slideshow capability, where the users need to go into an app and actively start displaying images. From my brief testing, Emby seems to be the best option for this, but I have some questions. I started by creating a photo and video library in Emby. The library consists of a parent folder that has subfolders with YYYYMM naming format and photos from each year and month directly in the subfolder. I also added a simple "videos" folder at the same level as the YYYYMM folders for testing purposes and put a handful of videos in there. The first thing I noticed was that I couldn't play all on the library. I got an error. I could pick play all on a folder, but that would obviously only play a slideshow of the photos in that folder. There was no shuffle option either. I see in the basic web client that there is no shuffle option showing when I am inside the library view either. There is a play all and that does play all the photos in the library. In the basic web client, I just found that the ... for a given library object in the library screen does allow a shuffle slideshow of all photos, but I either can't find that in the Roku app or it doesn't exist. As an aside, I just now created a "Mixed content" type library and gave it the same parent folder as the photo and video library. When I navigate inside that library in the web client, it does show a shuffle option. I am not at the Roku right now, so I can't test that library type to see if the Roku app will display the shuffle option. As another aside, the "Play All" function for a "Home videos & photos" type library honors the sort order set for the library. The "Play All" function for a "Mixed content" type library does not. It always starts from the same photo and I'm not sure how it picks that photo to start from. Another side... The "Play All" function when within a folder in a "Home videos & photos" type library subfolder does not honor the sort order set for the folder like it does if you are back at the first level in the library. I set it to sort on Name (assuming this is the filename or title, both of which are the filename for my test cases) and even though the display shows them sorted by name ascending or descending, the Play all starts with the same file every time. Without shuffle being available for the library on the Roku, I figured my next option would be playlists. I thought I could create various playlists of subsets of photos and see if there was a shuffle option for the playlists. If there was no shuffle option for the playlists, I thought I could automate something on the server that would shuffle the order of the files in the playlist file periodically as a work-around. I've hit a dead end with photo playlists, hence this post. I have tried to create playlists through the library browser in the web client and the metadata manger. In both screens, I am able to pick "add to playlist" from the ... menu if I select a photo folder. There is no "add to playlist" option when a photo file is selected, only if the folder it is in is selected. However, the resulting playlist isn't created properly. Here is what it looks like: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes"?> <Item> <Added>1/23/2019 12:00:00 AM</Added> <LockData>false</LockData> <LocalTitle>Photos from 2000</LocalTitle> <RunningTime>0</RunningTime> <Shares> <Share> <UserId>1</UserId> <CanEdit>true</CanEdit> </Share> </Shares> <PlaylistMediaType>Audio</PlaylistMediaType> </Item> It is creating an Audio playlist and none of the folders/photos are included. Questions: 1) Does Emby support creating playlists for photos (or videos)? 2) If it doesn't, if I bring in an outside playlist file with the photos listed in it, will that work properly? 3) Where is the metadata stored for the files in a library and is it possible to modify it externally (a script on the server)? This isn't critical, but I do see it has the option to include People information and other tags. I'm not even sure if the UI uses those for anything, but I am just curious. If photo playlist aren't supported either by creating in Emby or by importing external playlists, it seems my only other option is to create multiple folders instead of playlists and: a ) Either hope that the Roku app shows the shuffle option if the library type is "Mixed content" like the web client does or b ) Somehow shuffle the files inside the folders through a scheduled script that runs in the background on the server, and then use the Play all function in the UI, as a work-around. I'm not sure how Emby decides which file to play first with the "Play All", but if I can determine that, I can modify that attribute (filename, etc.). By using folders instead of playlists, I'll have duplicate files various folders are meant to show some of the same files. I can get around the storage implications by creating symlinks to the files in the various folders. I'd need to automate this for it to be practical. I guess I'd end up with my own "playlist" files that my script would use to create the folders and symlinks to the real files. Thanks for any help you can provide. David

Hi All, Emby Version 4.3.1.0 Using Firefox & Chrome As I mentioned, I'm a newbie to this so apologies in advance for lack of knowledge etc. Here's my playlist... hxxp://mbm.watch:8085/get.php?username=xxxxxxxxxx@@Xxxxx.com&password=xxxxxx&type=m3u_plus The screenshots below shows what I did. As is obvious, I have no clue what I'm doing. When I click the save button I get an error message saying, "There was an error saving the TV provider, please ensure it is accessible and try again." If I hit the search button in the screenshot above I get the screenshot below. I have no idea what to do with that part or if I need to be using that part? Playlist does not play in Emby. If anyone can tell me how to complete the process of putting my m3u_plus playlist into Emby successfully I would appreciate it. Thanks in advance for any assistance offered. Cheers, Hugh.

When a video file is clicked to display the information (media info) about it, it would be handy to have it also show any playlist it is a part of. There are currently buttons for Play, Played, Favorite, and More, but perhaps a Playlist link can be there. Thank you.

Every album I have added has its own playlist, which is named playlist
beachbum1972 posted a topic in General/Windows
Just like the subject says. All of my albums are listed under Playlists. I did not mean for this to happen and am not sure how to avoid it in the future. I have only created one custom playlist. I would like to delete all the others, but Emby doesn't have the rights to delete the file. The message I get is: Deleting this item will delete it from both the file system and your media library. Are you sure you wish to continue? It then fails stating it doesn't have write access to that directory. -
Hey, is hit somehow possible to also use the import feature of playlists for non-music libraries, e. g. for Movies? Thanks!

Hey, I created a playlist in a Movie library type. Nowhere except in the Metadata Manager I can find this playlist, making it basically useless because I can't play the playlist e. g. on the Android TV app. Am I just too stupid to find created playlists for my user or aren't those available for Movie type libraries? Thanks!

Hi, To begin, I must say that I am very impressed with Emby so far. I have been a Plex user for years, and just got tired of the lack of flexibility when it comes to music collections. I stumbled on Emby, and it does exactly what it should do. It gives you a simple way to access large libraries of music without making any assumptions about how you have it organized, or forcing you to completely rearrange it. My collection of music is all MP3s, and is organized by genre. I like to have playlists for each genre and listen to them randomly. Emby handles that in spades. It works flawlessly in the web interface and on the Roku. I have run into a small issue that I'm hoping you can easily fix. This happens on both the web interface and Roku 3 (Emby shows it as SG 3.0.193). On the web interface when I'm viewing playlists and select "Instant Mix" option, nothing happens. On the Roku when I open a music playlist, then select the "Instant Mix" button, it pops a "Playback error". This happens on all 5 of my playlists. My workaround is to use Shuffle for now, which is perfectly fine when on the web interface. It just takes a few more steps on the Roku since I have to play the playlist first, then shuffle it. I am running the latest release of Emby Server (4.3.0.30) on Windows Server 2019. Let me know if you need anything else. Dan.

Hello, When I first set up my Emby server a few weeks ago now, I made several playlists at the same time. We use playlists daily and it’s one of the main reasons we’ve moved over to Emby. However, I have had something weird happen with a few of them. After creating many playlists, I noticed that the Playlist icon had changed to match one of the playlist, which is fine. But I decided to change up the image used for that Playlists icon and when I did, three of my playlists also ended up with that same image - although they each had previously pulled different images from online for their respective titles (one of them was the image that pulled down for the Playlists link icon). I tried to change each of the images back to that of their own title but each time I did, the image changed for all three playlists. I decided the easiest thing to do would be to delete those three playlists and recreate them but every time I try with each of them, I get an error message - “There was an error deleting the item from Emby Server. Please check that Emby Server has write access to the media folder and try again.” Each one of three playlists give the same error but any other playlists have no trouble being deleted. It’s only these three that all are sharing the same images. I have checked and Emby does have read/write access to the Playlist location, as evidenced by the fact that I can create and delete any other playlist. I don’t want to lose all the work I’ve put into creating and organizing so many playlists and I’m not sure how to get rid of these three playlists. I’m feeling kind of stuck with them since there’s obviously a glitch between them all. I don’t know what to do to fix this and I’d so appreciate any help figuring it out. Thanks so much in advance!

While playing items through the Web App, the current play index is not updated when a previously played item is removed from the Play Queue. The next expected item is skipped. It appears the current play queue item index is not updated after removing an item which came before it (having an ID < current ID). Thus when the next item is selected, it increments the current (old) index by 1 and looks up the new index in the updated (smaller) list. When the current item being played is second to last (n-1) and a previous item is removed, the "Next Item" arrow disappears as though there are no other items to play (which is not true). Examples: A play queue contains 9 songs (with IDs 1 through 9). While listening to the forth song (ID:4), the user clicks the "Remove" circle on the second and third song (ID:2 and ID:3 respectfully). Then when the current song concludes (or the user clicks the "Next Item" arrow) the next song to play is song with ID:7 (instead of the expected song with ID:5). A play queue contains 3 songs (with IDs 1 through 3). While listening to the second song (ID:2), the user clicks the "Remove" circle on the first song (ID:1). Then the "Next Item" arrow disappears, even though song with ID:3 remains. Versions/Clients: Emby Server Version: 4.3.0.26 Emby Web: 4.3.0.26 User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/78.0.3904.108 Safari/537.36 Suggestions: A possible solution to attempt first is to call 'refreshPlaylistIndex' from the 'PlayQueueManager.prototype.removeFromPlaylist' function within playqueuemanager.js

I have a playlist that has more than 300 items. When openings the playlist on the Shield app it only displays the first 300 items. When I select random it does play random, but it only plays from the first 300 items. When playing the same playlist on the web, or iOS, it does play from the whole playlist. Right now the only way I can play the whole playlist on the Nvidia Shield, is to cast to it.

Hi The alphabet picker doesn't work properly in playlist folder (v4.2.0.28, but it was already the case before) There is no alphabet picker available when sorting by folder (see attached Playlist folder.jpg) The alphabet picker is shown only when sorting by name, but with only a few entry (see attached Playlist name.jpg). It would be nice to add an alphabet picker for all views. Regards.

Alphabet picker avalibale for all views + Playlist filters
laurent92 posted a topic in Feature Requests
Hi It would be nice to implement the alphabet picker for all views, including music playlists, whatever the way files are sorted. For music playlist, it could be worth adding a filter for genre/style Thanks. -
My playlists keep losing tracks. I think it might be becoase I have moved files around in my music folder, but I'm not certain. Does emby have no way of relocating lost files? Seems like that would be an awesome feature. Specifically I had so much music I put all my songs in alphabetical folders to help with folder browsing. All the music is still detected but my playlists blew up, even still have photos (emby generated with a few of the album covers) but not all the tracks. Any know issues or planned features around this?

It would be nice if within a playlist there was a filter box so that I could filter playlist to show album or artist or title. May not get used all the time but it would be nice for example if i add an entire artist to a playlist and then decide later that i want to get rid of one album, i can just filter by that album and remove the songs.
-
I think it would be really cool to add a few things into the playlist view I like the way you can jump to an artist or album in the suggestions page of the music. add album title in playlist view add link to album and artist from within playlist view (same as it is in the suggestions page) ...Last request for a bit...

While I'm posting issues I almost forgot about this REALLY annoying/frustrating one. I have, at least a dozen times, tried to delete my Playon and Playlist images from my home screen. I uninstalled the Playon plugin but the image is still lingering on the home scree. As for the playlist deal I have NO idea whats going on because I've NEVER had or used a playlist in Emby so I'm completely baffled by that one. Thanks

My playlists have vanished. I cannot see them in the playlists section. Tried restarting the server but that did nothing. I can see them when adding a track to a playlist or when editing metadata.

Hi All, I have a large playlist with Sitcom shows that I watch generally on shuffle. I have recently updated a version of one of the shows and want to delete the old copy of the show from the playlist and add the new ones. Problem is that the show is well over 100 episodes and looks like this will take forever to delete one-by-one. Is there any way to delete entries per show or multiples at once? Is it possible to delete an entire playlist and just start again? Is it possible to manually edit the playlist file perhaps via a text editor or something else? (not sure where they are located mind you) If I delete the old copy of the show and rescan, will it auto-delete missing entries from the playlist? Appreciate any advice. Thank you, AD

So it would be nice if we could choose to hide libraries from the top instead of being forced to see it. See like in my case I would like to have movie collections and playlist but without them appearing on the top in libraries. And I was thinking that it would be a nice feature to be able to hide them if preferred because you can already access them from other areas. For examples for playlist you can just go under the music library and tap on playlist, or the collections is under movies. I'm not saying to completely remove them but to give the option to hide them. That would be a feature I would like to see in Emby

Emby's recognition and use of .m3u playlist files is a major advantage over Plex. I think they could be better used, though. Currently, all playlists are accessible via a Playlists 'library' on the Emby home page, or the Playlists view within a library. But all playlists, no matter where the .m3u files reside, are gathered together in one monolithic page. If I want to find a Dvorak Symphony to play, I have to sift through the entire list. I think it would be a better, more usable model, if it worked something like this: I have a box set of all 9 Beethoven symphonies. Since each symphony consists of 4 or 5 tracks, I created a .m3u file for each symphony. It would be nice if, when viewing the Album Detail page, I had the option of seeing the discrete list of tracks (the current view) or a playlist view, which would look something like this: There are cases where a CD may have a 4-track symphony as well as some single-track works. I attempted to show how this might appear in the mock-up. I can think of 3 ways to go about this. My mock-up includes buttons for 'Disc View' and 'Playlist View.' The Disc View button reveals the current discrete track list. The Playlist View button reveals my proposed view. Emby should remember this selection on a per-album basis. There could be a Library-level setting to enable/disable Playlist view for the entire library. Since discrete tracks are displayed the same way in either mode, there may be no need for the buttons at all. If at least one .m3u file exists in the media folder, the UI displays it in the new format. Would people want/need the option to switch views? I don't know. I would also expect that the 'shuffle' function would keep playlisted groupings (like entire symphonies) intact, so Beethoven's 9 intact symphonies would be played in random order, but each symphony is internally not shuffled. What do you think?

So currently when downloading a playlist for offline mode, you get the songs individually instead in a playlist. So I was wondering if it was possible to fix that and download a playlist for offline in the order that it is in. So that it’s just as when online, just press and play the songs in order.

Hi, I noticed this evening that music files containing special characters (é, è, ù, ç...) are not recognized when included within m3u playlists. For instance, a playlists containing: #EXTM3U E:\Laurent\Musique\Music\FLAC\Jean Michel Jarre\Jean Michel Jarre - Les Chants Magnétiques (Part 1).flac E:\Laurent\Musique\Music\FLAC\Jean Michel Jarre\Jean Michel Jarre - Les Chants Magnétiques (Part 2).flac E:\Laurent\Musique\Music\FLAC\Jean Michel Jarre\Jean Michel Jarre - Les Chants Magnétiques (Part 3).flac appears to be empty in the browser. When adding manually these files to the playlist from the browser, the resulting m3u file looks like: #EXTM3U #EXTALB:Les Chants Magnétiques #EXTART:Jean Michel Jarre #EXTINF:1078,Les Chants Magnétiques (Part 1) ..\..\Music\FLAC\Jean Michel Jarre\Jean Michel Jarre - Les Chants Magnétiques (Part 1).flac #EXTALB:Les Chants Magnétiques #EXTART:Jean Michel Jarre #EXTINF:238,Les Chants Magnétiques (Part 2) ..\..\Music\FLAC\Jean Michel Jarre\Jean Michel Jarre - Les Chants Magnétiques (Part 2).flac It seems that ISO 8859-1 encoded playlists m3u are not well recognized and that UTF-8 encoded playlists m3u work well. Is this the normal behavior ? Regards. Laurent.
