  1. Preface All of the media I'm testing have previously worked flawlessly in the current environment. Meaning my network topography/speed has not changed. I cannot say for sure when this problem began as I rarely need to use a browser to access my Emby personally, however I had a user report issues a few weeks ago. I gave it very little thought until I had reason to use a browser recently and I ran into problems. Problem Recently (within the last few weeks), Emby playback within my web-browser has begun giving me the following error: Testing I have tested with various browser on various machines with results as such Ubuntu - Chrome: FAIL Windows - Chrome: FAIL Ubuntu - Firefox: FAIL Windows - Firefox: FAIL Windows - Edge: SUCCESS I have deduced that this happens for all Matroska contained media as far as I can tell. Container WebM w/ VP9/Opus codecs works correctly. I'd have to really go fishing for other types of media to test as my libraries are 99.99% Matroska or WebM. Logs NOTE: Firefox actually attempted transcoding, though still resulted in the same error. I zipped the result transcode logs for each occurrence, though I know they will not be helpful for debugging this. 20180926-Emby.Server.DEBUG-Ubuntu.Chrome.v69.0.3497.81-1.log 20180926-Emby.Server.DEBUG.Windows.Chrome.v68.0.3440.100-1.log 20180926-Emby.Server.DEBUG-Ubuntu.Firefox.v57.0.1-1.log 20180926-Emby.Server.DEBUG-Ubuntu.Firefox.v57.0.1.zip 20180926-Emby.Server.DEBUG.Windows.Firefox.v62.0.2-1.log 20180926-Emby.Server.DEBUG.Windows.Firefox.v62.0.2.zip 20180926-Emby.Server.DEBUG.Windows.Edge.log UPDATE -- 20180927 -- Official Embyserver Docker Container results -- 20180927-Emby.Server.DEBUG-Ubuntu.Chrome.v69.0.3497.81-3-1.log UPDATE It appears I may have opened a duplicate post from someone else with a similar problem (though to be fair, when I searched I did not find it as their topic is very misleading) https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/63309-docker/?p=627055 Also at a glance at their log, their ffmpeg doesn't even start, whereas this is not my issue.

    Stuck and black screen

When I play some content, and it's always the same, the screen turns black and the app gets stuck with the black screen, only way to recover from this is to restart the TV. It does work through the Windows browser, but not on the LG App. Attached info about the file. My TV is a OLED55B7V. rsl_not_working_media.txt
  3. Hi friends, since a couple of days now even low bitrate direct play freezes frequently in my Sony Bravia. (Like once every 15 to 30 minutes everything freezes for 10 to 60 seconds) It was working perfectly for months If not years. All other apps and other devices, no problems. Testet LAN and WLAN. Bandwidth is stable. Server settings didnt change like forever. Does anybody experience the same issues? Was there a recent app update maybe? Thanks Soki
  4. Heyho, I wanted to inform you that when I hit pause on the IOS app - and the OSX app too - via the app, not the ios transport control - the playback does not stop, it resets to the first track of the album and starts anew. To stop the playback I have to fully stop it. Is this known? all the best!
  5. Hello! I have a problem when streaming with Chromecast 2 gen, doesn't matter where it came from (Android, IOS, Web, etc) When watching some tv series, the playback is in great quality, smooth and RANDOMLY jump / skip to the next episode. It simply happen from NOWHERE. I don't know if it is my PC that is the problem or the chromecast itself. What kind of Logs do you guys need to check? I have at least 20 logs just from today trying to watch a single episode...
  6. I had been running Emby on Windows Server 2016 for some time and watching movies and TV shows on my Mi Box S (MiBox4) Android box on Kodi with Emby plugin without any problem. Last week I migrated my PC to Windows 10 Pro and reinstalled Emby server on it, also did a fresh install of Kodi on my Android box to re-sync everything. Since then, it's been a debugging nightmare for me as no matter what video, large and small, high bit-rate and crap sd, video playback stops randomly every few minutes! First I thought that it might be my router configs (It's a 2.4GHz running at 40MHz wide channel 150Mbps N)... I kept playing with the configs, replaced DD-WRT with OpenWRT, then with the original D-Link firmware, then back to the latest version of DD-WRT; no matter what I did the videos kept stopping. Then I started messing with Kodi on Android's advancedsettings.xml's cache/buffer values, I even installed Emby's Android app, still the same, video drops randomly, sometimes with the "source too slow" message. I then came to my PC, changed the Realtek NIC's configs, Windows registry values, Firewall settings, routes, even reinstalled and reconfigured Emby numerous times, it even got worse! Now I come to thee completely exhausted and out of ideas, looking for help... Any ideas? Here's the most usual error on Emby's logs: 2020-07-20 10:20:55.583 Info HttpServer: HTTP Response 206 to 192.168.0.155. Time: 162278ms. http://192.168.0.125:8096/emby/Videos/1939/stream?static=true&MediaSourceId=72b02541420c7e39fc9d4796d965a2df 2020-07-20 10:21:26.604 Info SessionManager: Session 8b7b1e843b7e2410fdd159d7908f4244 has gone idle while playing 2020-07-20 10:21:26.604 Info SessionManager: Playback stopped reported by app Kodi 4.1.19 playing Deeper, Deeper, Deeper Still. Stopped at 713000 ms I bet it's some kind of f*-up on Microsoft's side as I did not have ANY problem with the same PC, Router, and Box on Windows Server 2016 even with playing very-high-bitrate 30GB 1080p 4-hour movies! If it needs mentioning, there's no problem playing videos on Emby server localhost.
  7. This issue has just started popping up for me and I have since just ignored it as it is an inconvenience only. This only occurs on the first run of a new video file and on the 2nd attempt it plays just fine. According to the stats there is no transcoding occurring for the media files this is occurring on. My Nvidia shield, the server and an additional client, plays everything just fine and so I'm sure this is a Roku specific issue. Anybody have any ideas off the top of their head and what logs do we need to look at to determine the cause? Thanks in advance.

    Trouble playing media

Hi, I'm having trouble playing media from my Synology DS218+ NAS, but only certain videos and only on my desktop computer. The same files works without a hitch on my iPad and my Android phone. The server is available for browsing, just not playback. I've tried in the latest Chrome and Firefox. Strangely the only media that doesn't want to play is The Walking Dead season 10, previous seasons have worked fine. So it looks like there is some problem with those specific files, but that doesn't explain why they work on the other devices. The files are .mkv. To complicate matters I can't access the server log. When going to /logs I get the following error message "Unable to find the specified file." I'm unable to get the logs via my Synology since the Emby Server menu item only links to the Emby server URL. I'm using port forwarding to access my server from the outside, and I've changed the default port to avoid the server being obvious. No problems reaching it from other devices, but when going to the same URL on the desktop it is not available, I have to reach it by going to the 192.168.1.x IP address. The same problem occurs whether or not I use a VPN. Related? Still this doesn't explain why certain media works and others not. /K
  10. Hi everyone, I've been running into a few issues on the Emby Server that is running off of my Nvidia Shield that I finally have time to look further into and would love any guidance you can give. I'll include images and logs of the errors I'm getting below. Setup Server:Nvidia Shield (Shield is directly connected to router with ethernet cable) Media is stored on harddrives directly connected to Nvidia Shield Client:LG C8 TV running Emby App (TV is directly connected to router with ethernet cable) - This is the only client Problem #1: Images don't load Although the media are stored on harddrives, I have the cache, logs, metadata, and transcoding temporary files all stored directly on the Nvidia Shield. My idea here was to reduce image load times when searching media content. However after a few searching I start noticing some images don't start loading anymore (Image_1 and Image_2). Similar to what you see in the attachments, it's only a select few images, but the majority still loads. In this case for Gemini Man, only the majority of the cast and crew loaded, not any of the images related to the film itself. This however will progressively get worse to the point where none of the images will load (Image_3). In this case with Gremlins, only the text components load with no images. This has consistently occurred over the past few months. Problem #2: Server shuts down with "light" use from a single user I believe this issue is related to the first problem, since Problem #1 always occurs prior to Problem #2 occurring. In this situation (where I documented it), after the images didn't load for Gremlins, I did select "Play", and the film did not start. When I tried to back up into the movies (Image_4) and start sections (Image_5), either the loading circle kept spinning or was completely blank. At this point when I look at the Nvidia Shield, I see the server has automatically shut off (Image_6). If I turn it back on and do something similar (e.g., select/switch between media, etc.) it will consistently shut off. This is definitely helpful when it comes to troubleshooting. I have noticed this has progressively gotten worse. In the past, this would occur about once a week, but now it occurs at least once a day. Any insight would be highly appreciated! The Shield was great as a server when I first set it an year ago, but has consistently become a larger issue over time. If I can provide any additional information, please let me know! ~Q EmbyServerLog1.txt EmbyServerLog2.txt

    ALAC/m4a files playback error

Hello everybody, since I started using Emby (2-3 months now), I've never been able to play my ALAC/m4a hires audio files. Every time I try to play a file, the "no compatible streams" error comes up. This happens on macOS version of Emby (last update), on the webOS version, but it doesn't happen on my iOS device. Think I've read any thread on the matter, to no avail. Thanks for any help on this Logs follow --- hardware_detection-63721763186.txt embyserver.txt
  14. So I just installed Emby and finally was able to get everything configured to the point where I was ready to watch a movie and once I clicked on play i am getting this error " Playback Error No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details. This is happening on both TV Shows and Movies and I am not sure on how to fix the problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance! Not sure how many log files to upload and I am currently on Linux Mint (Latest Version) and I am also running the latest version of Emby Server as well. If you need anymore information please let me know. I also wanted to add that I have my media sources going to a webdav folder as well where all of my tv shows and movies are stored. Those are located in linux under /mnt/dav embyserver.txt embyserver-63690095862.txt ffmpeg-transcode-1cf952ad-845b-44c2-8a2d-916893fe6032_1.txt ffmpeg-transcode-3db184a5-e8d4-4580-a7bd-8f65d41da01b_1.txt
  15. when trying to watch any video while not on the local network it will stop and go like its buffering like the network is slow or something. my tnas has like 5gb of ram so i dont think this is a memory problem. i have checked the network 3 times and the speeds are fine with 10mbps up so that should not be a problem. any idea what could be going on because i have ran out of ideas. i am under the idea thats its a buffering problem because if i pause the video and let it sit their for a little but the problem is gone.
  16. Hi, Not sure if this feature already exists but would appreciate any input. I wonder if there is a way I can have emby for Kodi autoplay (perhaps select highest quality) a video when there a multiple versions available? Cheers, Ryan
  17. Next Chapter and Previous Chapter are now missing, or replaced by inappropriate functionality for video playback, in Emby Theater. Next/Previous Chapter are two of the four basic transport control tools for video. Skip Forward / Backward enable the user to skim around (and provide a substitute for conventional fast forward and rewind). Next/Previous Chapter enable the user to jump quickly and precisely between major points in a movie (and perhaps in TV shows if so authored). They replicate the behavior found in every DVD, Blu-Ray and UHD player for playback of physical media. These chapter locations come by default in all media I've bought, so I've come to rely on this feature. There's some indication that Next/Previous Chapter were removed from Video playback, and now only work for Audio. That goes against user expectation, is a fundamental feature loss from how Emby Theater worked just recently, and is contrary to Emby's documentation. I trust the normal behavior can be restored expediently. Thanks. https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Keyboard%20and%20Remote%20Support control-f: next chapter or track control-b: previous chapter or track

    Playback Issue - .MKV files

Forgive me if this is related to transcoding & has been discussed in another thread. I'm not completely sure it has anything to do with the file format, but it does seem to be an issue I've noticed (so far) to be affecting only .mkv files. I'm not able to start watching a video from the middle or anywhere other than the beginning, and pretty much any hopping around will cause the video to crap out. Is this just a limitation of the format, a bug somewhere in Emby Mac OS server, or perhaps connected to some kind of corruption or defect in some of the individual .mkv files I've collected or converted. Any guidance appreciated!

    Emby 4.3.0.30 Folder issues

I have 4.3.0.30 running on an Unraid server. Ever since the update to 4.3.0.30 I am having artwork trouble with my folder movies. I don't know if it's ALL folders but I do know that all affected titles are folders. I'll give one example. Sin City currently has Star Trek The Motion Picture thumbnail in the Emby web interface. If I update it to Sin City through Identify it will stick. However, all of my Star Trek movies (older ones only that are folders not my ISOs) flip to Sin City along with a few other folders - Superman Batman Apocolypse, Sucker Punch ... Now if I go back and fix those I will actually get a higher percentage of accurate thumbnails - but - Sin City will eventually flip to one of the Star Trek thumbnails! If I look at the artwork on the server - either within the Sin City folder or outside of it, all the artwork labelled Sin City is accurate and all the Star Trek artwork is accurate. I'm very confused about all the artwork storage locations and cache options between emby and Kodi to the point I go crosseyed - I do have artwork in both locations (inside and outside the folder) and probably different locations in Kodi as well however for purposes of testing the past few days I've completely removed Kodi from the picture. @@Happy2Play @@cayars
  20. Hi Guys After using Plex for many years i have given up on them, Currently i use the Plex desktop app to play 24bit high res audio to a chrome-cast audio via Airfoil and it direct plays NO Transcoding etc. Why can i Not find an Emby Mac desktop App? When i play 24bit via the chrome browser Emby says it's transcoding it. TIA L33
  21. QNAP 4.3.0.30_x86_64 Android 9 Emby 3.0.87 Using Android app with Wifi, playing a song, everything fine, also caching. When changing network to LTE, app stops caching, playing stops at the end of puffered data - next song not possible. The other way round - LTE to Wifi - works fine. This is a big playback problem, because when start listing inside and moving outwords, the connection type changes and playback stops. The only solution right now is NOT using Wifi at all. Attached log-file. Mobile listing should start at line 700. I don't see, why emby stops after network connection changes.
  22. I'm just trying to figure out if I have something set incorrectly or is Emby really has different playback screens for TV shows vs movies. When you get to a TV show episode playback screen, it shows the audio and video details and then has a drop down list of the available subtitles. When you get to a movie playback screen, the same information is not shown. The movie does have the details embedded. Using Tiny Media Manager, I get this information: So, I'm wondering what I need to do or change with my Emby settings to get the movie playback screen to show the same information as the TV episodes. Just as an FYI, I have also added an external subtitle file (.srt) file for this movie. So I would hope that some kind of subtitle information would be shown. Any help would be appreciated. I am still setting items up and have only done about 15% of our movies. I want to make sure that I copy everything the way Emby likes it.
  23. Hi, I'd love some help please with a frustrating playback issue that suddenly emerged on my Nvidia Shield running Emby for Kodi (native/direct paths). Native/direct sync works. Kodi very briefly shows "Working..." when I press play, then goes back to the menu, all within half a second. My quick and highly uneducated look at the log file showed some errors around demuxing, but I don't know if that's significant. Recent changes to server I imagine it's relevant to point out I've recently upgraded my OS X version on my server machine, and also tinkered with its static IP address (but I ended up returning the address to what it was before the issue) - see below for more details. I'm sorry, I realsie it would be very helpful to be clear when the behaviour started in relation to both of those changes, but I cannot be sure which of those was responsible. Native vs Dynamic The playback error only seems to happen in my preferred native/direct path configuration, so that's a pretty good hint that it's a path/network issue I guess (I'm no IT expert). If I go through the emby for kodi app and select folders with (dynamic) written next to them they work ok, but I'd love to get the snappier native playback working again. Issue on: The playback issue is only encountered on my Nvidia Shield P2897 box, which I use Emby for Kodi (4.0.5) add-on on Kodi 18.4 (native/direct paths setup). Unaffected - these stream fine When I run Emby on my Android phone (galaxy s10e) I can access and stream videos on the server fine via Emby and VLC on the phone, but I guess they use the dynamic playback mode as well. Server My Emby Server (4.2.1.0) is running on a late 2014 iMac, which I recently updated to OS X Catalina (10.15.1). I'm sorry I cannot be specific with times, but the Kodi issues started around this time, and I saw a post about clicking on and off the sharing on the mac to get things running again, and I've done that. As mentioned above, I also changed the IP address of the server for a brief period, as my phone was taking the same IP address, but I then moved my mac back to it's original IP when I worked out how to set a static IP for my phone to stop them clashing. The server's IP is now back to the same value it was when it worked, which is the same as that in the "Shared Network Folder" in the library, and I've done Emby for Kodi database resets and resyncs to be sure the Shield has the right IP paths, but to no avail. The log is available here - I'd value the interpretations of a skilled user (scroll to 2019-11-18 at 19:16 to 19:17).
  24. So I am having trouble with my pre-movie trailers in cinema mode on everything but the web browser. The playback will play the trailer and then either hang there or just stop. Have had a look in the dashboard while it happens and it doesn't seem even to try to start transcoding/playing the movie. I am using a set of custom 2-5 second trailers that appear before movies only resolution i have found is to turn it off for now but would realy like to keep using it logs atached and even willing to read other articles to try fix but its been 2 days of searching with no luck sofar embyserver.txt
