  1. Good afternoon guys Firstly, thank you for the emby.kodi work, it's definitely my preferred way forward :-) Some help if you don't mind? With reference to http://xbmclogs.com/pq10enut4 I can't get music playback to work on my Nexus Player (movies work fine) This was working about a month ago on earlier server/addon versions. All is working on my windows 10 NUCs I'm not sure if it is something I have messed up but have rebuilt the NP in case but no change. Thanks in advance
  2. First, thanks for what looks to be an amazing piece of software. I've scanned in all my music and some albums have appeared correctly but others not. The common ground between all those which failed is that they are in one single parent folder (which has various artist / album folders below it). Emby seems to think that the parent folder is an album with hundreds of tracks, although Metadata Manager shows me that it has read the Album ID3 tags correctly on each individual track. Does Emby make Album objects in the library based on the tags or on the folders? My audio tracks are not quite strictly organised as artist/album/track, but the same folder structure has worked fine with many bits of software over the past ten years or so (eg. Kodi, Foobar, Logitech Media Server etc), and I would much rather not re-folder if I can avoid it. Many thanks in advance for any help. SC Platform details: HP Microserver > Ubuntu > Flac files with ID3 tags > Emby 3.0.5675.1 - let me know if you need to know anything else!
  3. Hi guys, I was wondering if there was an easy way to force the server to re-download all my music album art to use 1000x1000 images where available. I tried an advanced refresh of all images, but it didn't seem to use the higher res ones. Thanks! Edit: Ok, so I just figured out this one myself, so I should have tried harder (my bad). For anyone wanting to know the answer, try this setting under Metadata>Services>Music Albums:
  4. Currently when viewing a music genre we have the option to view Albums or Songs. Can you add an option to view by Artist as well? Emby for WMC does this, though it might be theme-dependent there.

    No music on Android 4.2.2

Tested on two android smartphones: Versions are 4.2.2 and 5.0.2 Video plays fine on both of them, subtitles are also supported correctly. Music plays fine on 5.0.2 but immediatly leads Emby to crash on 4.2.2. Attached are logs from server and both androids. Emby Android version is 2.3.80 on both 5.0.2 and 4.2.2 Emby Server version is 3.0.5675.1 Thanks android.app.4.2.2.log android.app.5.0.2.log server-63573588712.txt
  6. Hi, The problem i'm describing is happening on the android app, but started happening with the latest server update. When I use the voice command "Shuffle my favorite songs" (very cool, it works well) it seems to be shuffling the same few songs every time, as if it was doing an instant mix. I just checked it on the web interface and it is doing the same. Would love it if it was as before.
  7. We do already havge the section in album view "if you like xxx you might also like", which is nice. In the Artist view page, we show the discs / songs of the artists - could we add a section below "Similar Artists" - this would make it more fluently to find alternative artists of a certain style.
  8. I've been having a problem recently where some album artists and some albums won't download info from the internet even when I provide the specific MusicBrainz info. This isn't happening for obscure artists--Adele is an artist where the info never fills even though I have provided all of the Musicbrainz info. The update circle goes around and around and nothing ever fills in. I thought it might be a Firefox issue so I tried Emby on Chrome but the same thing kept happening. I'm using Emby Version 3.0.5666.4 on a Windows 7 computer. My preferred browser is Firefox. Server log: http://paste2.org/pXvfLmGF

    Music playlist stops playing

Hi there, I'm no sure if I found a bug or is just a missuse case. If you stop playing a song from a playlist to jump to another one, then the web client will only play the new song and stop playing at the end of it, instead of continue playing the rest of the playlist. Repro steps: Create a music playlist with the "Instant Mix" feature for example (most of the time I'm using the "Instant Mix" feature since I love it). The playlist will start to play. Go to the playlist view and choose any other song from the list and clic on "Play" from the menu. Let the song play and the web client will stop playing at the end of the song and it will play the rest of the playlist. Shouldn't the web client continue playing the rest of the playlist? If this is not the case, would it be possible to add a "Play all from here" to the menu? Thanks!
  10. Good Afternoon Folks, I currently have 2 FireTV boxes which have replaced PC's in the lounge and one in my guest room which doubles as a gym for myself saves me load of electricity! Emby on the FireTV is amazing for when I have friends staying over as they are always watching TV and Movies and comment on how good it is, as they say "I have my own personal Netflix" One thing I do miss is Music support when I'm training, currently I have Kodi installed with the Emby plugin which is a decent workaround but I'd love to see music support for the FireTV purely from Emby, I have a mild case of OCD so having to use another app slash workaround makes the eye twitch lol I don't like it when people bang on about ETA's but to calm my OCD knowing "it's on the cards" is good enough for me Keep up the good work everyone, Edd.

    Music Playlist

Is it possible to create a music playlist on emby so that I can have continuous and/or looping playing of music in a folder. I playback on my Roku, but I wasn't sure where to post this question. Also, when I'm using music files on Emby; do I need to edit their audio file tags?

    No music tabs

In the latest beta version 3.0.5641.1, if I go into the web client and then music, I do not have any options to view by albums, genre, artists, etc. Has this been temporarily removed? https://www.dropbox.com/s/6ulaznnn4w4pga7/Screenshot%202015-06-12%2009.00.02.png?dl=0
  13. Luke Have a music library with some 65,000 tracks and I have noticed that the AlbumArtist and Artist views refuse to populate. Get a spinning circle for a minute or so and then nothing. Same issue as with the previous version.
  14. Instant Mix is not working on the web interface. When I click the instant mix button I get this error in the console: I am using Ubuntu and chrome to access the web interface.
  15. I am unable to set / see, a custom "MUSIC" EHS image from the web UI in Windows 7 with the release server Version 3.0.5597.1 It works for Movies, TV, .. but not Music. Something is up with it. EDIT: After restarting the server.. and trying again and again, it did work eventually. Not sure what the problem with that was as the server has been restarted since I added in the music paths etc.
  16. Hello, I was wondering if there was any way to force a single genre on all my music by directory. My music collection is organized into folders by genre and the genres that have been pulled from the internet for my music are really weird (my personal favorite being "Acoustic Memphis Blues Blues Blues Music Pop Prewar Country Blues" which is not a useful tag). What I want to be able to do is change the metadata in Media Browser Server of an entire directory of music to one single genre and remove all other genres. Not just for aesthetics and organization but so I can shuffle a folder of music. I tried creating a playlist from a large directory of music and it fucked everything up so bad I actually had to re-install the server from scratch. Is this possible? Edit: Or if I change the genre metadata field using a different program, how do I get Media Browser to recognize it and not download the metadata from the internet?
  17. Hi there, Like many other users (probably) I have a huge music collection and growing. I use emby for this more than anything. I would love to see individual songs (repeats) grouped by Artist, Title. The reason for this is mainly for likes, favorites, playcounts etc. Also if I filter down or am in a playlist and I have added a song that is a low bitrate maybe the system could recognize this and automatically substitute it for a higher bitrate or album version of the same song. And when on the web client when I drill down to song level it will tell me what albums or playlists the song is in and even link to a music video. Also can we have play counts back? I will donate £20 for this feature, and £20 for the next etc. Emby is the cornerstone of my life and I love it so.

    One little niggle

Hi, It looks likes things are happening in a positive direction Android wise, one little niggle is when playing music and I get a phone call, instead of pausing the music gets routed through the phone earpiece. Also, I will have a spare handset soon and will put it to good use as a streaming device in the house (and use it for smart home functions too, why sell it eh?). Will android to android remote controlling and cast functions be available? Looking forward to sync too. I will have to make a donation, I feel guilty paying £3 for the app.
  19. Hi, I don't know how to clearly explain this, but if I have accidentally put duplicates in my massive playlist the second instance of the duplicate will play the track below it in the list. If that makes sense. May be a hindrance when syncing with android.

    Instant Mix on Web Client

Hi all, How the "instant mix" on the web client should work? The instant mixes I currently get do not preserve the contextual browsing scenario (i.e.: genre, artist, etc). The "shuffle" option, instead, queues only the context I am browsing. Should Instant mix queue related artists?

    Show Embedded Music Lyrics

Is there any view where I can get Emby Theater to show the embedded song lyrics that I have? This seems like such a common topic but I can't find any posts on this through searching and can't find a view that shows lyrics. Am I missing something or is there another way to show lyrics? Thanks, Brian
  22. Here's what I think is a simple question. Is it possible to use Emby to host a multi-room audio playback system using DLNA speakers (like the Pioneer XW-SMA1-K)? It would be great if I could have several of these speakers around the house and from the music section of Emby simply select "Play to XX device". If this is possible, I'm thinking I would then be able to play different tracks to different speakers, which would make this a great alternative to Sonos. Is anyone using Emby for something like this, or have a better solution?

    MP3s not being indexed

Hi, guys. I’m having some trouble adding music folders to my media library. I’ve added the folders (selecting Music as the media type) to my library, but when I go to the music section on the client, it’s completely empty. I tried removing and re-adding the folders again in an attempt to get MB to try indexing them again, but that didn’t work. I do not organize my music in album and artist folders. I organize solely by genre on the file system, but I keep my ID3 metadata clean and populated. When I go to the metadata editor, I can select a song and have it manually retrieve info using the ID3 tag. That does index the file and allow me to see an artist and the song in the client’s music area. Unfortunately, I do not want to do this for the thousands of songs I have. I didn’t see anything unusual in the log, so I’m not sure what else to do at this point. Not one of my genre folders was able to be indexed. Suggestions? Thank you, Josh

    Music Artist Tag Error

Does anyone else have an issue with artist names that end with a period? Examples: - O.A.R. - fun. - R.E.M. Windows seems to have problems ending a folder name with a period (it truncates the name, so O.A.R. becomes O.A.R) and this has an effect on how MB organizes the tracks even though the internal ID3 tags specify the correct artist name.
  25. Hope this is the correct area to post this. I was editing my music collection today and getting it a little bit more organized and I noticed some weird behavior when changing genres of tracks and albums. I typically use Mp3Tag to do any tag editing, then I refresh the library using the web interface in MediaBrowser (Version 3.0.5518.7). In order for all the tracks and the album itself to be properly marked with the right genre, I have to refresh the album twice or three times, depending on the level of the change. Steps to reproduce the error: 1. Change the genre on all the tracks in an album using Mp3Tag - All embedded tags are now up to date with what I want 2. Refresh Album within MediaBrowser 1st time. - All individual track metadata has correct genre in mediabrowser, the album does not. 3. Refresh Album within MediaBrowser 2nd time. - Album now has correct genre, everything is as I expect it to be. Similarly, if you change all the tracks under an artist with multiple albums to a different genre (as I did with Harry Chapin, from Ballad to Folk), you must refresh the Artist 3 times until the correct genres are applied at each level. I'm pretty sure I just didn't give it enough time to sort through the entire refresh process, so mark this as solved/not an issue.
