Emby for WMC Not handling "Special" folders correctly. If a movie has a "Special" folder the following movie is not displayed correctly. That is, the controls for the subsequent movie are very tiny almost invisible and poster image is not displayed. Thanks for your attention.

Hello! I am pretty new with Emby, and so far I have loved everything about it. Well, I have set everything up to go, and I have got someone to make me a little program to automate downloads. When I download a movie, or a TV Show, both of them will download in the same folder, and then everything will just hump up in emby, both movies and tv shows will show in Movies category and same with the TV Shows. What I have been looking for quite a while now is a way to automate emby, or some sort of addon/Program to use the metadata to automatically move either TV Shows or Movies to another location itself. I have been googling and searching, downloaded some tools, but with no luck. They just made things worse for me. I may have followed some instructions wrong or anything could have happened, but I have been taking very much time with this. Is there anyone who knows what I can do to automate this, and then give me a path to walk on? And maybe just give me some informative instructions? I would be very happy, so I can become even more lazy! Thank you, hope for any answers! Regards, Markus.

Hello all. I have been having some issues when it comes to my Roku devices, both a Roku 3 and a Roku TV. Whenever I go to the filmography of an actor or director, nothing is there. It used to show what movies I have that an individual was in. Has anybody else come across this problem? It would be great to do a Samuel L. Jackson marathon. Or a night of nothing but Christopher Nolan. And by the way, I saw there was a previous post regarding missing filmgraphies, in general. But it was posted several months ago, and I wasn't sure if anything had changed. As always, thanks.

The problem I am having is that recently for movies no metadata is downloading for the people field. For TV it is fine. Just movies. When the problem started all movies suddenly stopped showing Cast and Crew. If I click on refresh for individual movies the people metadata is downloaded but I would love a fix that allowed the automation to work. The attached log has a media scan and people scan but doesn't seem to have any errors out of the ordinary.Log.txt I am using the current version of Emby server 3.0.5675.1 on windows 10 and it is working great apart from this one thing.

first, I have looked for this for some time and have not been able to find an answer. Now then, I am a Plex user and have been since 2010. I like the latest Emby build and am running it alongside to get a feel for it and see if I want to switch over. I became a supporter to ensure I got the full functionality. However, I seem to be having a tough time on the web interface. I saw some posts online about users creating "smart views" which allowed them to have filtered views built and setup so they were always readily available without having to do it every time and I could not seem to find any documentation on it or see any option in the server or client interface to set it up. Is this possible or could it be a custom code they ran to create it? The other problem is the suggestions view. I see people talking about movies or series being suggested by the server based on what they have watched. My suggestions tab however only shows any resumable item and latest items added. I do not get any option of "because you watched..." or based on genre or anything like that. Is there a special feature or third party add-on that enables this function? This is where I am stuck now and these features seemed amazing and what drew me to Emby. Please let me know if this is possible. Thanks in advance. ** I deleted all the files and reinstalled the server and went to the dev build. I noticed after the reinstall that suggestions was working and presenting different options, however, as soon as I restarted the server, they all went away and now again just shows the latest media.

When I go into my movies I see every movie I own, which is not a bad thing but considering there is a collections category why could they not be separate? This way only stand alone movies will show up in movies and movies that are part of a collection will show up only in collections, still having the same structure as before.

when i synced my movies collection,i noticed that there was 2 of every movie showing in Kodi. Could someone please explain how to fix this,or provide me with instructions on how to do so? thank you.

I am using the Custom Intros plug in to run trailers before screening a movie. The problem is that I also have concerts and stand up comedy acts in my collection which are treated by Emby as a movie just the same. I tried categorizing the concerts and stand up comedy as Unset (mixed content), but Emby still treats those items as movies and generates trailers which I don't want. How do I force Emby to treat those items as not requiring trailers??

I would like a way to designate a folder and everything underneath to be excluded from the "Movies" listing on the front page and designated as a new type of category on the front page. Right now, I usually use the "Folders" listing because certain types of videos we have are not really movies but are listed in the same folder. An example might be instructional videos, workout videos, sports recordings, etc. It doesn't make sense to list these types of videos in the "Movies" listing because they really aren't movies in the true sense of the word, but that's the only place they're put. More flexibility to apply metadata type labels to folders would be very helpful. The content type drop down seems to be the best place to designate a folder to contain these types of files, but if they currently are in the "Movies" folder but I don't want them listed under the movies category on the front page, I would like to be able to create a custom type and have it grouped on the front page of the web client, MBC, or whatever client being used.

Hi People, First off, Happy New Year to you all! I have a question regarding duplicate movies. When I get my movies I sometimes get early 'CAM' or 'Screener' releases but then download the HD version as soon as it's available, i've been doing this for numerous years but forgot to delete the crappy copies once I've downloaded the HD versions. Now, in my movies folder, I have hundreds of duplicate movie files. So my question to you guys is as follows: Is there any sort of free program (where I can download and use instead of downloading, scanning and then having to pay) to find these duplicate low resolution films?I simply don't have the time to invest sitting there for hours and going through them manually, I would much prefer to just do a scan and then be able to delete the lower resolution finds. Now I've downloaded a few programs (DupeTrooper, easy duplicate finder to name some) and I've scanned my movies folder but these programs are picking up the images as well e.g. If I have say Independence day then these programs are finding 'Independence day-Disc' & 'Independence day-Cover'. I really want a program that can scan for just Movie file types or have that in the options so that it doesn't pick up my images. Thanks for reading, Looking forward to your replies! KayJay

The movies listing could really use some filter/sort options - similar to MBT. Don't want to over complicate / clutter the UI. But often when looking for movies to watch I hide watched movies and sort by run time or rating when looking for movies. Bit difficult with the current alphabetical full listing when you have quite a few movies... Also was kind of expecting when I clicked on the alphabetical listing (A, B, C etc) to get a quick jump list similar to you get on Windows Phone 8.1 (when swiping to full list of apps on your phone).

I have added a new media folder called 'new movies', but this only appears under 'folders'. Is there a way so I can have it appear on the 'Home' screen in the web view?

Anyone else not seeing latest media updates on respective pages? I recently moved all my media to new drives, I did this by dropping existing paths and repointing to new UNC paths. I have since added new media to these new paths and out of all the media added only one movie showed up in the recently added area. Any ideas or anyone else running into similar issues? It just seems to be happening in Opera, which is unfortunate since Opera is my default browser. Images loaded fine in Chrome and Firefox.

Web Client - "Trailer" button - playback in a window ...and also fullscreen

This is a very minor feature enhancement request. When clicking on the "Trailer" button (for any Movie) using the builtin webclient... instead of opening up a whole new Web browser tab with the orignal Youtube video URL, to open in an embedded video Window instead; with the option to go fullscreen. This would give it more of a seamless look and feel for Trailers. -
Movies & TV Shows in the Folder Type 'Mixed movies & tv' not being listed in Genres

Greetings, So, I have a folder that houses my documentries and other non-fiction content. They are all in the same folder, it is a Mixed movies & tv folder as there are both movies and TV content in there. Now, none of these films or TV are shows are shown under the Genre views, either for Movies or Television, in the Web Viewer. Would I be correct in saying that the reason for this is due to the Folder Type being used? If so, is there a solution other than putting the content into 2 seperate folders, one for TV Shows and one for Movies, in order for the content to be listed under 'Documentary', in Genres, for example? By the way, I don't believe it an XML related issue. I double checked a number of the xml files, the Documentary genre is listed in the meta data. Cheers, Andy -
I have a number of movies that will not play in Media Centre. As soon as I try to open them the app crashes and I am thrown back out to the channel select screen. But these same movies play fine in Media Browser. Any idea what is going on? I'm not sure how to attach my log file since it's much larger than 39.95(KB). Joe Smart

I have just discovered Media Browser (currently using XBMC) and I’m in the process of playing around with it with the thought of using it perminantly. Very impressed so far.... I have a question though... I have created a set of media folders on my HDD for testing and used the following structure: Films Kids Films Kids TV Series Music Music Videos TV Series In Media Browser I have added the following media folders Films - Type = Movies Kids Films - Type = Movies Kids TV Series - Type = TV Shows Music - Type = Music Music Videos - Type = Music Videos TV Series - Type = TV Shows I have setup three User Profiles, Lee (With pin code) Stephanie (With pin code) Kids (No pin required) I have given the kids the Library Access to Collections (Made with the plugin Auto Box Sets) Films Kids Films Kids TV Series I have also restricted the User Kids to a parental rating of GB-12 on “Movies” & “TV Shows” Apart from the odd film which would bore them (Adult film with GB-12 rating), this works great. I could even edit the rating of those films for the perfect experiance for the Kids. For the users Lee & Stephanie I have removed the Library Access to Kids Films Kids TV Series However when loged onto either user Lee or Stephanie under the Movies selection there are Kids Films. Is there a way of stopping this from happening? I understand I have selected the Media Type as Movies, but there was no Kids Movies option, and thought this was for scraping. Is the Library Access feature still work in progress? I assumed this would disable the Kids Films from my Library view.

Okay, why does it take so long for MBS to get metadata for video games. I had to delete all the box art for everything I had and that was 2 weeks ago and it still hasn't gotten all the box art. Thanks, S.

I have a windows 8 MB3 installation. I have a very large movie collection, near 1000 movies. Up and until a few days ago this displayed all my movies in the folder just fine. Now today when I go through the different media library folders, all content displays but my movies. It shows the count as 0/0. However there are definitely movies in that directory and I can play them via windows explorer, and GOM media player. Also if I go through the Web Interface to the movie folder, it shows all of my movies. I have since uninstalled and reinstalled MB3 but still having the same issue. No movies. The path is correct. Does anyone have an idea of what is going on? I am on version 3.0.5076.20161 as of 11/26/13. I was going to paste a dump of my log file, but there is not enough space to upload it. SO I think I have successfully pasted a URL to dropbox. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/46573484/log.rtf This is when I use the MB3 classic application to view MB3 on my media server. All from the same PC.

A lot of people have been asking how they can contribute to the theme video collections recently and with the recent host change to mediafire, this has all become a lot easier. There are a few things that are required but the process is now fairly simple! Firstly, make sure the resolution is 720 or above (the preferred format is mp4 but I can probably work with anything), then all you have to do is name the TV or Movie Theme in the following format: TV Shows T - {tvdbid} – {showname}.ext Or Movies M - {tmdbid} – {moviename}.ext Where tvdbid and tmdbid are the ids which can be found on either thetvdb.com for tv shows and themoviedb.org for movies. Examples being: T - 79349 – Dexter.mp4 M - 4147 - Road to Perdition.mp4 Once you have the files named as above, simply head to this link and upload! Theme Uploads! Once the upload completes, I will get an email notification and perform the necessary to get the theme added to the database. All of you that are using the previous method of upload, please keep doing so. The older method is definitely the preferred, this one will hopefully enable an easier way to make the collection even bigger for everyone! :-D Any questions, please post below!

As I mentioned here, I would to be able to manually link Movies to TV Series. So that when you browse either the movie or the TV series, it will allow you to link to the other. Kind of like the way sound tracks are linked now. Thanks!
