Hey Guys, I am still trying out emby and in the middle of changing over from plex. my question is to find out why my libraries are not showing up properly. i have 2 main folders (movies) and (tv shows) these both work fine how ever i have another folder within my movies directory (movies 4k) which isn't working properly, no movies are showing up but the folder icon on the top show there are movies there. really stuck on how to fix this as i want 1 main library for all movies and then sub folders to other types like 4k movies etc. any help would be grateful. thanks guys

hi guys and great work on what you are doing, i have a issue or 2 i cant sort out with my echo show and firestick im using the uk version first of all it wont open emby when i say open emby home. so ive set a routine to open. which is fine when i ask emby to play movie, it plays flawlessly when i ask to play next episode of tv show or just play tv show it says cant reach ur skill at the moment. everytime.. now another is google. opens ebey home like a dream it wont play a film at all but will play next episode....lol it doesnt seem to want to repond to the number 2 in the lists so yeah i have options but its very annoying.. it also wont play on my webos player but alexa does lol.... any ideas please?

@@Happy2Play I run my emby server on a Linux server, which is why I am posting here. Last year I had my movies in collections and those collections were in my movie folder. So when I opened my main movie folder i wouldn't see 4 Indiana Jones movies I saw the one folder with all the movies in it and I also had them show up in collections top menu select. I had to move some files around in August 2019 and now when I add movies to a collection they only show up in the top collections menu option and then not 100%. I even went in and changed the file structure on some collections to see if that would fix it and it didn't. Is it me? Was this changed in an update and I missed the note? I really liked the collections showing up in my main movie folder. My file structure was and still is simple. If there is a place for this log, I have no clue where to find it. When I first started using Emby my file structure was: Movies ----->movie_1 ----->movie_2 ----->movie_3 Then I changed a few to see if that would fix it to: Movies ----->movie_collection ---------->movie_1 ---------->movie_2 ---------->movie_3 I have attached two files of images that show the difference between the two screens from July 2019 to when I moved files around in August 2019 Old_layout is the first file structure pre-August 2019 and new_layout is what I have now. I like the way the old_layout is set up. It kept my movies cleaner and collections together in an easy place to find them since some of my movies are in one collection but have different names. (IE Star Wars Saga - Rogue One, Solo, Star Wars 1-8) Thanks in advance for you help. I hope it I can get it back to the old way. I really liked that.

Hi everyone I bought a seedboxplan and installed emby on it. The installation went flawless, and everything worked till i updated. From the moment i updated the library won't recongnise my movies if i chose 'movies' as content type. However, if I choose 'TV shows' as content type, emby recognizes them (that's how i know it ain't a permissions thing). Is there anyone having the same problem? I installed the latest stable version of the available Emby Server from the emby website on a Ubuntu Rapidseedbox, seedbox. Greetings, and thanks in advance!

Hi, I'm using DS418 and mMy libray metadata is not working correctly for all movies. Just a couple of movies fetch the correct parent rating in portuguese M/12, M/16, ... all others fetch in English R, PG-13, ... Some movies won't get the rotten tomatoes rating while others do. All of them show the imdb rating. I'm just testing, but all the movies are recent. I've uninstalled the server and reinstalled it but the issue continues. Thanks

Hi, Is it possible to show, below the title and year of the movie, the value of the sort order chosen? For example, if the movies are sorted by parental rating, below the title and year would appear the parental rating (PG-13,...). Thank you very much.

Emby Server and Emby Theater - iTunes Movies and TV Support

I have a few handfuls of movies within iTunes Movies. I'm not a big fan of iTunes, but since I have these digital movies I've been exploring how to more easily access them. I recently came across the excellent Retune iTunes Remote software for Android ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.squallydoc.retune&hl=en ), created by SquallyDoc ( http://www.squallydoc.com ). This nifty piece of software is able to connect to my local iTunes library, display a list of my iTunes Movies, and then Play them in iTunes directly from within the app (ie, they do not play on my Android device, rather they play within iTunes on my computer). The fact that this is possible opened my mind to interesting possibilities for Emby integration (if there is enough user interest, of course). I think there would need to be two components to this: Emby Server would need to use the remote functionality (ie, whatever the mechanism is that iTunes provides for apps like Retune to be able to connect to the local iTunes library) to read what Movies (and TV Shows) exist within the users iTunes library. And then there'd need to be a way for the user to designate which Movies and TV Shows to display within Emby. The server would store whatever internal marker/id data is needed to later directly play that item in iTunes. And of course iTunes would need to be installed on the same network as Emby Server (so that it can access ITunes). iTunes is primarily on PC and Mac (and other Apple devices, of course), so Emby Theater should in theory be able to connect to a particular iTunes instance (ie, on the same PC) and then using the already acquired data from Emby Server, launch a given video in that iTunes instance (iTunes would need to already be open for this work, though it may be possible to lauch it via command line). Now, the thing that would make all this even cooler is if support for iTunes Extras (https://www.apple.com/itunes/working-itunes/enhance/extras/ ) could be added. I have reached out to the developer of Retune and he is going to see if that data is made accessible through the remote protocols. Ideally, we'd be able to import the list of iTunes Extras (including some basic metadata), and then launch them directly in iTunes. Is there a way to list the movies that have no "Genre" entry

Hello, I just switched over from Plex and am currently in the decorating & sorting stage since it basically "just works". In plex I used my existing folder structure to have some sort of order when browsing ... essentially they are stored by genre and each folder is a library. In emby I simply scanned them all into 1 library and let Genre sort them out. Added some neat graphics and it looks real sharp. But I realized not all movies have proper metadata. How can I sort those out that don't have genre's or even those that are missing ID's altogether. The identification process is working pretty good ... but there are some that fell through the cracks, and my collection is a wee bit too big to simply check every single one. Thanks in Advance -
Hi! Ok so I had to reinstall emby and rescan my database. On rescan, some of the movies did not identify. On the previous install, I set download images to folder, so now all that displays is the poster, logo, landscape, and fanart. I did notice, however, that the movies that did not identify all had the same naming convention: "Movie Title, The (Year)". I have no idea why this is happening, especially when other movies with the same naming convention did identify correctly. Can anyone please help me! Thank you. embyserver.txt

IPad: Songs & movies do not start playing "playback error" - Connection ok

IOS 13.1 / Emby App 1.8.3 / Emby QNAP-Server 4.2.1.0 When trying to start playing a song nothing happens, When trying to start watching a movie, a message appears "playback error" No compatible stream. No matter AVI or mp4 Within Opera browser, on the same IPad, everything works fine. No problems at all. It has nothing to do with the new IOS 13.1, because it did not work under IOS 12.x either. What may be the problem? It's much nicer using the app instead of Opera Browser. -
Hi All, I'm sure I've seen this brought up some time ago, but I couldn't find a topic in here. I was wondering if in the future it will be possible to use the Auto-Organize feature on movies, as well as television. I love being able to add television shows to my watched folder and have MBS take care of the renaming and organizing. Having a similar feature for movies would be great as well (as some other users agree, from what I remember of it being discussed in the past). I don't remember what the developer response was to the possibility of this feature, this is why I'm making a new thread for it. Thanks, Patrick

All my tv shows and movies were marked on the trakt site as collected, but have noticed today that nothing is now marked as collected. Not sure if it is the trakt plugin, a setting in the plugin or an issue on the trakt website. Can someone check to see if their content on the trakt site is marked as collected? Many thanks

Hi, I'm kind of new here. I wonder if it is possible, or is there any plugin, for people to order movies. At my school, we started using Emby, and I would like to know if there is a way to create a page, or something like that, that teachers have the option of ordering a movie. everytime I download media like movies, or tv shows from torrent sites and run a scan with malware bytes or win cleaner. my movies and tv show disappear. I've unchecked the option to not let outside accounts delete media. my account is the only account I have on emby. I turned off the 12 hour scan,and the media was still taken when I ran a scan. I also have plex and the media source where I get he emby media from is the same source I get the plex media from but the movies and tv shows on emby disappear. the movies and tv shows on plex remain. why is this happening and how to stop it?

It would be good if we had the ability to list movies that start with “The” by the letter “T”. For example, currently a movie called “The Howling” will be listed among the “H” movies, but can we at least give people the option to list it among the “T” movies please. The reason for this is to have parity with how movies are organised within folders on your PC.

Rename 'MOVIES' menu option to "A-Z" and 'Shows' under TV to "A-Z" to make it more obvious that what the option is!!! An A-Z picker. Also the Roku way to show the A-Z picker is visually nicer, maybe an option to show horizontal preview per letter or current all letters on scrolling page.

I have a directory listed as /media/movies with the permissions If I have emby import the movies directory, nothing will get imported. However, if I have movies2 imported the files are seen. The directories and files all have 755 permissions with the user & group being the same in both directories. I can't get anything from the logs that would help. What is more weird to me is that if I set the content type to TV on the /media/movies import, the files are imported, but not with the content type set as MOVIES. I'm stumped on trying to figure this one out. I only have a monthly premiere pass to see if I want to leave Plex. As you can see here, the files are being seen.. And when I complete setting up the import this is all I get.. what logs would be needed to diagnose this issue?

Hiya Just testing out Emby and have a weird issue. Plex (my original media server) found a new movie added straight away, to my surprise it even got the correct artwork with no assistance. Emby fails to even acknowledge the file exists and I have no idea why. Can anyone offer any tips pls? Thx

Problem occurs when the app is already playing a content, e.g. movie or music. I hit the cast button and choose a Chromecast device. Chromecast starts playing the content, remote controls on Emby app are operational (by using them I can control the casting) but... the previously existing casting to the android app will continue to play. Only circumvenction is to stop Chromecast casting, select the app as the target, start a new content and then stoping it. Tested it on three servers and on different scenarios (e.g.: local and remote, music and video). Does it happen to you?

I've been racking my brain for hours and googling for days for this... I have a movie trilogy - specifically the Karate Kid - that has grouped itself together as a single movie. These to me are separate movies and I should be able to list them as such. Other movies don't give me this problem, or at very least there's been an option to split those apart (i.e. Mockingjay parts 1 & 2 were lumped together as one, but I had the option to split them apart.) Why can't I split this one trilogy?

Hello! After the last most recent auto-update of Emby for Media Center, I started having a problem with just the Mp4 movies, but not the TV episodes. I press the Play button on the menu and get a dark screen. When I move my mouse I see the control buttons on the bottom of the screen (Stop, Play, Record, etc) but no time length indicator. The Play button displays the || pause like the movie is playing. I press the square Stop button which takes me back to the movie info page and buttons, then I get the spinning wheel and the page goes dark and the time indicator appears and the movie starts up. This is an annoyance, but at least I can get them to play. I have uninstalled/reinstalled E-WMC and the server both. I am still getting that small hang on the movies so far. TV episodes run right away. These are all the same MP4's I have for over a year or more. Any ideas?

Two issues at once - library type changed and Collections stopped working

Okay, so out of nowhere I had two problems occur at once... Collections stopped working. Movies and TV are now displaying singular. I tried turning Collections off and back on, but it didn't help. My Adult library is set as "Home Videos and Photos". I did have two folders in it that were displaying correctly as movies (did not inherit). Now one of them (the actual Movies folder) has changed (it behaves as if it is storing videos) and I can't get it to change back. I did not receive any error messages and I have not tried any corrective actions yet for fear of making it worse. Since these two things happened at the same time, I am really concerned that an automatic update broke my system (which was working great). How do I fix this and should I turn updates off? VIDEO_TS Folder No Longer Recognized in Movie Extras Folder

I'm on Server Version 3.2.70.0 on Windows 10. I don't know when this changed, but previously (I believe) Emby Server would recognize a VIDEO_TS folder in the Extras folder in the following directory format: Dark City (1998)\Extras\Gallery and Metropolis Comparison (Text)\VIDEO_TS And then Emby Theater would present that item "Gallery and Metropolis Comparison (Text)" in the lists of Extras, where it could be played via the External Player I have configured (in my case, VLC). The reason I do this is that sometimes there are extras such as image galleries and text content which are only available via the DVD menu. So I copy only the files within the original VIDEO_TS folder which are necessary for the DVD-menu-only extras I want and put those in a folder like the above example. Currently these folders are no longer being recognized and displayed for Movies, though it does still work for folders with the TV "Special" season folder. It is also possible that I am not remembering correctly and that it actually never worked for Movie the Extras folder and has only ever worked for TV Special folder. I don't think that is the case though -- I think it worked for the Movie Extras folder at some point in the past, as I normally test these things when I am converting a movie. I understand this is an edge case which might not effect many users, but figured it wouldn't hurt to mention it in case it is something that can be easily fixed. If folks have suggestions for how to achieve my above goals using a different route I'm open to that. Thanks!
