    Not updating library

Hello, I just wanted to know how can I get my library updated automatically when added a film to it, I have the real time monitoring enabled, but when I tried copying a file inside the library, the movie is not appearing without doing a manual refresh of it. Any idea? Kind regards, Pedro

    Display of Movie Extras

Hi, I have ripped all the Blu-ray special features for the Hobbit films, and put each set in a folder named extras within the main folder alongside the film. However, when viewing the film's page in Emby, the extras all show as a grid of the film poster image, with the extras title beneath. Ideally I would like them to appear in a list, with the description alongside, like TV show extras do. I've attached screenshots of the different layouts. Is there any way I can achieve this? Thanks.
  3. Hi, I watch tv in Emby using MediaPortal TV Server and MediaPortal TV Plugin on my Windows 10 PC. EPG is imported dayly and genres are mapped correctly. Recording works fine. However, no movie metadata is loaded by Emby for the elements mapped to the movie genre. Is that a known limitation of using mediaportal TV Server as source, is it a bug or is it just misconfiguration by me ? If it's the last option, how to set that up correctly?
  4. Per another thread ( https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/38173-watched-status-resets-with-moves-between-library/&do=findComment&comment=484965 ) video files that do not have an external ID (eg, TheMovieDB, IMDB) associated with them in Emby will lose their Watched status if you ever move the files to another location. This is because currently the only way to determine the uniqueness of the file (if it does not have an external ID) is to use the full path to the file. Now, most items will have an external ID, but the big exception can be Movie Extras and TV Specials. Some TV Specials will have an external ID. And some Movie Extras do exist in the IMDB and TheMovieDB, but currently there is no metadata lookup available for Movie Extras ( https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/43845-emby-server-emby-theater-support-nfo-files-and-automatic-metadata-lookup-for-extras/ ). So if a Movie and it's associated Extras is ever moved, the Watched status for those extras will be lost. This feature request is for there to be some better method of identifying files such that those files which do not have external ID's can still be correctly identified (and thus Watched status preserved) even if they are moved. I am most interested in this for Movie Extras. I'm not sure what the best route for achieving this would be, but wanted to put the idea out here for consideration. Thanks!

    Unable to view Movie

Hello, I've searched the forums but could not find any postings with a similar problem. I've got an Emby server setup just fine (Docker container on Ubuntu). I read the wiki article on how to set up source directories for Movies and I noticed it stated that DVD and Blu-ray structures are supported: Dvd and Blu-ray folder structures are also supported. To be recognized as a dvd structure, the folder must contain either a VIDEO_TS subfolder, or a VIDEO_TS.ifo file. To be recognized as a blu-ray structure, the folder must contain a BDMV subfolder. No other info was given, so I just copied an entire DVD into my source library directory. From the server side, everything looks fine; Embry appears to detect the movie and displays all the metadata just fine. However, when I go to play the movie, from a Windows 10 machine using both Firefox and Edge, I do not see any video. The play timer counts up as if there's something playing but all I see is black. Also, there is no sound but only a high pitched popping noise that appears every few seconds for a little while until even that sound is gone. I could think of only two possibilities as to what is causing this. The first is that there's some kind of copyright protection on the raw DVD files I copied from the DVD that require the physical DVD to be present for the video to run. If so, how do I get around this? Is there any kind of tool someone can recommend? I would think this would be common but the wiki makes no mention of it. The other option is that I'm missing some codec. If so, can someone please tell me what codec is needed?

    Not updating display info

I realized now that when I see a television channel native to the Emby and tried to watch a movie, it is not updated in the movie that sees the cover and the name of the movie, is still receiving information about the channel I watched. This happens when you click directly to watch from the cover. I'll attach a photo.
  7. I would find it really useful if there was some visual indication that a Watched movie still had Unwatched Extras. What makes sense to me is if the green check mark could be half gray (or some other two-tone effect). So essentially there'd be 3 states: Movie Unwactched = no checkmark; Movie Watched, Some/All Extras Unwatched = partial green checkmark; Movie Watched, All Extras Watched = green checkmark. I'm totally open to other ways of doing this. My goal is simply to be able to quickly see when viewing my Movies that there are Unwatched Extras for a given Movie (so that I might have a better chance of remembering to go back and watch them). Thanks! Related: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/50382-emby-theater-unwatched-sub-view-for-movies-with-unwatched-extras/
  8. Hi all, After starting this thread: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/42676-help-trouble-sorting-media-in-kodi-to-respect-emby-libraries/ I did research and was helped by wonderful folks in the community, and thought I had sort of figured out how to set up Kodi to show specific content from my libraries rather than lumping it all "Movie" type content together in annoying ways. I'm on Emby server 3.0.8500.0 (no, I haven't updated yet, and won't for a week or more until I know it's not likely to break anything... I'm cautions! ). My Kodi is the stable version (16.1 I think) Short story: I made a test library with a couple movies in there, and made a link to it in Kodi, and it shows up, yea, but in multiple skins it shows up as music, and the movies aren't named correctly in Kodi, they show up as numbers (???). Longer story: For this test I created a new folder accessible to Emby. It happens to be on the E: drive of the Emby server, E:\TestShows\, and contains: \Hollow Man\ \Close Encounters of the Third Kind\ I set this TestShows folder up as a library in Emby called MyTestShows (note distinction from filename, to enable me to trace what's going on). This content is set to type Movies and looks like this in the Emby library management screen: I opened Kodi, and having figured out the default Confluence skin doesn't support edits to the main items, I chose Titan skin, and went in and configured a new home menu item. As I recall I configured the item to go to: \Add ons\Video Add ons\Emby\MyTestShows\ and then confirmed the main MyTestShows in the selector box that followed. I then backed out to the home screen. My Test Shows was there, and when I went into it, it had just the two movies, but they were called 49 and 50. ??? And they showed as type Music. I repeated the test in Aeon Nox (same results). I'm very confused. What am I doing wrong? Why is it not displaying the content name (movie name in the row instead of 49 or 50), and why does it think it is music? THANKS FOLKS Marc
  9. I have ripped We're the Millers Blu-Ray to MKV, with extras and an Extended Cut. The extras and extended cut are not being detected as an alternate version or extras, they are being identified as individual movies. I have followed the instructions in the wiki, to no avail. The file structure is as follows: \SERVER\Movies\We're the Millers (2013).H264-DTS.BluRay-1080p\ We're the Millers (2013).H264-DTS.BluRay-1080p.mkv We're the Millers (2013) - Extended Cut.H264-DTS.BluRay-1080p.mkv extras\ deleted-scenes.mkv don't-suck-the-venom.mkv extreme-aniston.mkv gags&more-outtakes.mkv getting-out-of-a-sticky-situation.mkv i-am-pablo-chacon.mkv intro.mkv livin'-it-up-with-brad.mkv outtakes.mkv road-trippin'-with-the-millers.mkv rollin'-in-the-rv.mkv the-miller-makeovers.mkv when-paranoia-sets-in.mkv
  10. This is just a quick heads up: I have the Movie and TV Theme Song/Video plugins, and I found that if movies weren't in their own respective folders, things like themes and backdrops were shared between items. For instance, all of my films had the backdrop for "The Sword in the Stone (1963)" before I moved my media into individual folders. After the move I had to rescan the library. In the absence of those plugins, if media was not using individual folders, I observed that each asset (like posters, etc.) had the film name/year prepended which works fine until you use plugins like the ones mentioned above. Is it considered a best practice to put media in their own respective folders? If not, why not? If it is, is that mentioned somewhere in the documentation? Going to the "Movie naming" page on Github doesn't mention that when you are preparing your library, you may want to do use individual folders to ensure a smooth transition.
  11. I was thinking it would be a good feature to change the way Emby is naming movies when they are recorded. From: Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde (long alpha numeric character string).ts To: Dr. Jekyll and Mr Hyde (1941).ts The year information is available in the metadata. What do you guys think? Thanks for reading and considering!

    Kodi Movie Covers Corrupted

Been using Emby Theater since it's release and finally decided to make the move to Kodi. I've installed the emby addon, done the initial sync of all my media, and have to say it looks gorgeous. Only problem I have is that a good chunk of my Movie posters and other artwork is not showing correctly when browsing the movie library in Kodi. It's as if the artwork half-loaded up and I can't figure how to get it to refresh or if that would even fix it. See attached. Any clue why this is happening? Or, how I can fix this? Let me know if you need any additional information from me or on my setup. Thanks in advance!

    Movie Library Scanning

Hi All, I'm new to Emby and setting up my movie library against my NAS. It's scanning the TV shows perfectly fine, but it's ignoring all the 1000+ movies (almost entirely MKV format). This has been working fine directly from Kodi via SMB for years, any ideas? It scans successfully, but finds zero movies. Structure of the folders is /Movies/MovieName (Year)/MovieName.Year.mkv etc. Cheers
  14. I am running 4 rokus and they all have the same issue. After a recent server update (there have been a few lately) my rokus have not been suggesting movie titles as it did before. 1. It is only suggesting unplayed content rather than titles from the full library as it did before. 2. It is only suggesting based on the last movie played rather than cycling through the last 5-7 when I clicked ok on the suggest movie based on tile. Is there a setting I don't know about? Can't find anything. Roku Emby version 2.2 build 4 Server: 3.0.6020.0 Danke. -M

  16. I was testing a test movie file, and the web client crashes at around 32 minutes of play back. It doesn't matter if I skip through the video or watch it to the point, the video crashes. I've attached my three logs relating to playback, and it seems that FFmpeg is throwing an exception somewhere. Any tips? A little bit of extra information, it crashes in the web player AND on Chromecast. I've tried the video straight in VLC (just the video file, not DLNA) and it plays the section just fine. remux-c8cb89d2-a6f3-44a7-9364-73b75a9e4e70.txt remux-c990a73f-5972-4ea5-9633-76da4e1bc127.txt server-63598778350.txt
  17. Just wondering if there is a way to have a movie soundtrack album in a theme-music folder (so it plays when you navigate to the movie) as well as in the music section. I have tried adding the folder as movie and music, but the movies are removed and only music shows after scanning the library. I know there used to be a link that you could do to have the music associate with the movie, but I believe that was removed some time back? Regardless, I don't think it used to play the music from that soundtrack link automatically like the theme.mp3 or theme-music folder. Any ideas for this one or is it in the pipeline?

  19. Hi, I'm in the process of testing out an upgrade to my HTPC, using Emby as the server (which looks awesome, love the webUI!) and Kodi as the front end client (which also looks great) - I previously used MediaPortal. I am happy with the way TV Series' are displayed but I'm struggling to get my Movies and other media (Doco's, StandUp, etc) in a useable viewing format. I have looked over these forums and the interwebs for a few days now and I'm still struggling to get this - either its not possible or I'm doing something wrong... so its time to see if the experts can help Background on my setup; I have an extensive movie collection (2000+) which I like to view similar to the way they are stored on my PC, via a single master genre/category (ie Back to the Future is in Adventure), rather than every single movie been displayed on one huge video wall!! I realise I could search and filter for a movie, or movie type, but I like to just go into a folder of my category types and watch say an Adventure movie when I feel like that type of movie. Further smart filtering at this point could give me the newly added, unwatched, etc... I have about 12 different categories (which would be at the Level 1 [L1] structure level) and then inside these are movies (in single folders) as well as boxsets/collections (which would be L2 structure). See Image [server File Structure.PNG] The view structure I'm looking for is to be able to open Movies from the main homescreen (skin link to emby video node), which then displays my 12 custom categories (primary genre), where I can then choose Adventure, followed by the Back to the Future Boxset, and then choose which of the 3 in the collection I want to watch. I'm looking for similar nesting of content for my Doco's, StandUp, where you might have a comedian with multiple shows (Eddie Murphy; Raw & Delirious) that I want displayed side-by-side at the L2 level. Emby webUI (screen grabs below), and the iPad app mimic exactly my folder structure! Its just Kodi that isn't playing nice Doco, StundUp Categories : [Emby webUI - Doco, Etc Library.PNG] Movies Categories: [Emby webUI - Movie Library.PNG] L1 - Adventure: [Emby webUI - Movie Library - L1 Adventure.PNG] L2 - BttF Boxset: [Emby webUI - Movie Library - L1 Adventure - L2 BttF Boxset.PNG] Emby Libraries; Emby Video Node (Type: Movies) - Movies Emby Video Node (Type: Movies) - Doco's, StandUp, Etc Emby Video Node (Type: TV) - TV Series [Emby Library Setup.PNG] These are the options I have tried thus far; I have tried setting up links in the skin to video-addon-emby-Movie ([Emby Video Nodes.PNG]) but this just gives me the whole list of movies, in this case all my Animation and Adventure movies clumped together and it shows all boxset movies individually ([Kodi Movie Structure.PNG]) rather than as one sub folder like the Emby webUI does. I have also tried using smart playlists with a filter for Path Contains = \Adventure\ (ie primary category), which is how MediaPortal achieves it, but for some reason this just returns a blank output - somehow by adding this all the movies get filtered away. I tried this in both Direct & Addons mode thinking that the Path field may only get parsed in the former. no luck. Finally, I have also attempted to add an additional tag, putting my category in there in the hope I could filter for it but that didn't appear to work, it seems to only accept the name of your Emby Video Node (ie Movies, or Doco's, StandUp, Etc). My Setup; Emby Server : Version 3.0.5871.0 Emby for Kodi : Stable (1.03), I also tried (2.2.4) Kodi : Version 16, Jarvis. Skins: Titan & AEON NOX (both didn't help, happy to try others) I hope I've given enough background on the problem and how I'd like my setup. Looking forward to hearing from anyone who's faced similar issues and how they got around it. This new setup seems really powerful, I'd love to get over this little custom view issue and keep using Emby on a permanent basis. I'm also open to suggestions on other ways of handling large media sets if what I want is just too much Cheers in Advance, Dewey
  20. I have quite a lot of 'foreign' films in my movie collection. Whilst I only speak English, I enjoy these with English subtitles enabled, which works really well. However, sometimes I just want an "easy watching" experience and wish to avoid picking a film which isn't in English. Currently I haven't found any easy way to do this. The ideal thing to have would be an icon with the mediainfo icons, OR an overlay on the poster (like the HD overlay) which reflects the language that the film is in. A little flag would work well I think. The relevant information already seems to be present in my movie.xml files. For example, for the film "Yojimbo" I have the following sections.... <Countries> <Country>Japan</Country> </Countries> <LanguageCode>ja</LanguageCode> <Country>JP</Country> <MediaInfo> <Audio> <Language>ja</Language> </Audio> </MediaInfo> Forgive me if this has come up before but I've had a fairly thorough search and found nothing

    Smart Import

Hey guys! So I wanted to use Emby to import movies from an old hard drive. Being an old hard drive, and with a bunch of backups in it, it's got movie files in a lot of folders. So I used the drive itself as the media folder to import and selected content type as Movies. However, it's showing me all kinds of non video files (like .bin now in my library. Any way to smartly pull only the video files into the movie library? Thanks!
  23. I really hope that someone can help. I've used MB3 since about January and had no issues until a month or two ago. I use MB3 primarily to watch my movies (mp4/m4v) on the iPads via the media browser app (latest update). Previously, I had no issues watching movies both within my network and externally. Then, all of the sudden, playback stopped working on most movies and I can't figure out the cause. I have an iPad 2 (iOS7) and an iPad Mini (iOS8) and both have same issues. I am able to see the library and select the movie, but the movies just won't load. Just get the spinning wheel and sometimes I have to manually kill the app to get out of it. It doesn't happen with all movies, but it happens with most. To clarify, if a particular movie doesn't work, it never works and if a movie works, then it always works. Server (Version 3.0.5395.0) is on a Windows 7 64bit machine. If I use Safari to access the server, I am able to play all the movies fine. I am okay with doing this but that process is not so easy for the other people in the house. I've uninstalled the app and MB3 Server and started from scratch but had no luck. I love this program when it works and I really hope that someone can help me with this. Attached is the log that I think that you need. I looked at the transcoding logs (I enabled them) but it doesn't create a log when movies fail on the iPad; it doesn't get that far. server-63549186123.zip
  24. In Media Browser Theater we have the ability to tag trailers, and quality of the movie such as 720p and 1080p, but it would be helpful to have a way to tag Extended Cut vs Theatrical release. I maintain multiple versions of the same movie in the same folder, such as the Hobbit 1080p Theatrical Release, as well as the Hobbit 1080p Extended Release. It would be nice if Media Browser Theater would display this as another option as it does with trailers.
