    Upgrade to 3.0.5930 Library Missing

I just upgraded to 3.0.5930 and now my library is missing. Server manager shows that my library paths are all configured properly, but webUI shows nothing. Running "Scan Library" takes less than one second. The upgrade seemed to have gone fine and I don't see anything in /var/log/emby-server.log that would indicate a problem.
  2. Hi Emby Community, I went through the forum, but did not see anything similar. Sorry if it had been already answered. I am using Emby (3.0.5913.0) on a Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64-bit version. I also use Kodi linked to Emby. I really like it, it is full of potential. My Library is made of 2 folders, one for Movies and one for TV shows. Each folder are on the same drive. Here is how my folders are organized. / -- Movies ----- Movie Title (Year) ----- Movie Title (Year) ----- Movie Collection -------- Movie Title (Year) -------- Movie Title (Year) ----- Movie Title (Year) ----- Movie Title (Year) ----- ... -- Series ----- Serie Title ------- Season 1 ------- Season 2 ----- Serie Title ------- Season 1 ------- ... I have Movies/Series in different languages I added the path for both folder in Emby. I set up Emby to fetch the metadata and create xml and nfo files and put those files next to the film. Same for subtitles and Images. However I cannot see any of those file on my drive. All movie folders contain only the movie file, no nfo, xml, artwork... The other day I spent hours customizing the display Title, Primary image, Backdrop... It looked as I wanted things to look like in Emby Web Media window and in Kodi. Today when I launched kodi the primary images, backdrop and movie titles had switched back to what it was before I customized everything. Same inside Emby. Movies with a non english title are renamed in english even though the file name on the HDD is not in english. For some of the movies it changes the information, it will fetch another movie information. I have installed Emby and kodi. Installed fresh, took hours to reset everything for Emby to again overwrite everything. I have the same problem for my TV Shows. My question is why Emby does not keep my custom images, names and decides by itself to overwrite everything I do? Is there a way to customize or Emby does everything by itself? Thank you everyone for your help.
  3. (All of this on a first time install with the latest version of the software) I created my movie library with no difficulty, everything populated perfectly - it was a thing of beauty. Then I created a TV Series library, and have had a problem with the all of the series being misidentified and ones with multiple seasons being added as a separate item, not a sub item. I followed the naming convention listed in the wiki. I can go in and manually edit the metadata, but I have a lot of series and it is very time consuming. Anyone had this problem? Thanks.

    Library Folder Limit

I have a Movie content library that has 6 folders I am trying to add a seventh but get the error "There was an error adding the media path. Please ensure the path is valid and the Emby Server process has access to that location." If I change it to a Music content it adds the folder Any thoughts
  5. Server & OS: Window 10 Pro on a i5 NUC Client & App: AFTV1 (FireOS3) & Emby 1.1.46a Hi Forum - I need some help understanding why some library primary images are generated from library content and others are not. Movies and TV seem fine but my other libraries with Home Movies, Documentaries (Mixed TV & Movies) and things like Trailers, Music, Music Podcasts have a range of generic primary images of varying sizes. I would like to improve the appearance of these by having the images generated like Movies and TV or at least use my own images and have them be the same size. I have looked at my metadata path X:\Emby\views but this doesn't look like the old ImagesbyName arrangement for storing custom images. A nudge in the right direction would be appreciated. Thanks, @Tanamur

Scan Library of One Source Only?

Issue: New media is added to my Ubuntu Linux server pretty frequently. I don't want to thrash my storage by consistently kicking off manual scans like I'm doing now. One idea I have is to add a new library source located on SSD to at least speed up the scans, however I only see the option to manually kick off scans for the entire library not just one source. Additionally I don't see an option to schedule scans for a single source. Unfortunately, real-time monitoring of the filesystem doesn't work from what I can see in forum posts. Does anyone have any ideas how I might go about more frequently updating the library without having to manually kick it off or set a scan to automatically happen really frequently?
  7. I've been trying to purge an issue with otherwise inexplicable database errors for the last few days since the last update. I have removed all libraries and isolated the issue to my TV shows. But diagnosing it further is proving troublesome since there is no information on what files were being worked on when the error occurred. 2016-02-20 18:26:13.8343 Error App: Error in Nfo *** Error Report *** Version: 3.0.5871.0 Command line: /usr/lib/emby-server/bin/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe -programdata /var/lib/emby-server -restartpath /usr/lib/emby-server/restart.sh Operating system: Unix 3.13.0.27 Processor count: 8 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True Program data path: /var/lib/emby-server Mono: 4.0.3 (Stable 4.0.3.20/d6946b4 Thu Aug 13 12:46:26 UTC 2015) Application Path: /usr/lib/emby-server/bin/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe Text node cannot appear in this state. Hi everyone, I just installed emby-server 3.0.5821.1 on Antergos and it's running. I've done the config setup but I can't add any folder to my library. When I go to library/Folders, all I got is a loading circle (can't get it on the screenshot but it's there and spinning) and no option to add any folders : I've waited and tried many times without success. I've joined the log to this post. Thanks. Log.txt

    Server constantly crashing or hanging

Hi, I've been struggling with getting my emby system setup properly. I had a good setup with mediabrowser but since the emby branding, my system has become increasingly unstable. When I enter my server address remotely, more often than not, I receive no response and need to logon remotely via teamviewer to reboot emby. I have a feeling it is related to the size of the library, since it keeps trying to rescan the library, which spans two drives and 6 TB. I have uploaded all of my recently recorded emby server logs to google drive. Maybe someone here can take a look and hopefully identify something simple that I am doing wrong. https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B1LHQsfF7SllS3dqS2pqVkU2ZUk&usp=sharing Thanks everyone for all the hard work and time invested in this project. It is a great product so far.
  10. Hello, I have been using emby for quite a while now, and again, a really annoying bug occured. I just realized, that somewhere on the road my emby server started to store ALL png-files that are metadata files with the wrong filename. For example, cdart.png is cdart..png. Therefore, the skin I use never finds those images. Same goes for logo.png. I have 3.0.5818.0 on Ubuntun 15.10. Seriously, such a bug in a "stable" release? Are you kidding me? All over the community, people are more and more complaining about the emby server being buggy. You should definitely consider doing something about your release cycles and try to get some improvement of the quality of your releases instead of starting to charge people for services. Just my 2 cents.

    Artist vs Album Artist

Is there a way to get the Android TV app to use the ARTIST tag for browsing instead of the ALBUM ARTIST tag? This is a feature that works remarkably well on the web app, and on the Android phone/tablet apps. For some reason however, I am not able to get the Android TV app to allow browsing by the artist tag. I understand that for many casual listeners out there this may seem like a trivial matter, but for music buffs (or in my case....music junkies), the difference between using an artist tag vs album artist tag can be pretty huge; especially, if you listen to genres of music where collaborations are a way of life. Please forgive me if this matter has already been brought up elsewhere (I tried a search but couldn't find it). Right now I have a "test" server that I'm using to work out the kinks and learn the system before setting up the final deal. Thanks in advance if there's someone out there that can point in the right direction!

    Library Issues when syncing

I am currently running the emby server and I have two Kodi devices: 1 New Firetv and Idroidnation box running 5.1 Lollipop. Both Kodi versions are 15.2 When Running the emby add-on on Firetv , everything worked fine.. The library for Kode shows movies and tv shows on the main Kodi screen.. The Idroidnation box, not so much... It show emby under the video tab and I have to pick it to show the movies, sorta like when you share on an uPnP share. I have cleared and re-installed the add-on a mess of times, same outcome... Is this suppose to work like this on the android version of Kodi?? I am new to Kodi, I used to have Dune devices with My Movies, but Dune died and I could not resist the Kodi Interface anymore... Love Kodi and this software... Just wish I could get it to work the same ... Any Help would be highly appreciated.. Sandmaneo

    Missing Library Items

Hey Guys, Currently experiencing an issue whereby access to my library items have disappeared since rebuilding an EMC client. The Emby Server remained intact, no changes made to network, IP addressing etc. The WebUI dashboard menu is blank where my library once was. All the config is still present in the library config page (albeit missing folder images). I rebuilt 'Documentaries' and 'Stand-Up' to see if that made a difference. Currently, the only way to access media is via MBPlus plugin (which was manually installed), otherwise I get the 'No items' in EMC. Everything is still there, I just have no way of accessing it directly via the menu's. Looking into the client logs, I can see some: (400) Bad Request (500) Internal Server Error Current Server version = 3.0.5801.0 Current EMC version = 3.0.292.0 Logs: Server here Client with no plugins here Client with only MBPlus here Apologies if posted in the wrong section, wasn't sure if Server or EMC issue.

Emmy plugin causing 100% CPU usage

I don't know what happened between yesterday and today. I turned on my box today and it was virtually unusable. The interface is stupid slow. After some troubleshooting I was able to disable the Emby plugin and that rendered my machine usable again. I kinda remember being on version 1.2.60 and after looking today it reads 1.2.62 which led me to believe that an update might've triggered this behavior. The only other thing I've been trying to do is to include my music library to which I have had zero luck with, while all me music is portrayed thought the web interface it does not appear on my kodi setup. setup: intel nuc > openelec 6 > emby 1.2.62 feeding of windows based emby server. Unfortunately i was not logging this but I've had zero issues since I set this up months ago. Any insight is deeply appreciated! TIA!
  15. I have files to be organized, and copied into my library, but emby server (Version 3.0.5781.5) is failing to perform this task. The Organize feature says it ran, in 0 seconds, but nothing actually happened. I've traced this down, and created an isolated log file. Attached. The problem, of course, is the path length is too long. I have one observation, and one request. Observation: The log file never actually records the path in question to the log file. At least some portion of it would be helpful during debugging. Request: The feature stops working at the earliest failure. Sort of understandable--I got an error, I don't know what to do, I'll log it and quit. What this means in reality is ALL library organization permanently stops until the bad file/directory is renamed or removed. The possibility that there are other files needing to be organized clearly exists. Perhaps the feature should check if there are other entries in the watch folder, and try to resolve those? -- Stinker server-63585820800 - Copy.txt
  16. Hello. Running build 3.0.5781.4 on Debian 7. I'm able to play music I've uploaded to my library, but the "Scan Library" process doesn't find any new files in my music library; I have to refresh the page before they show up. And when they DO show up, there's no image art. When I go to "Identify" the item, I never get anything back but a bunch of magnifying glass icons. Server log of my latest attempt is here.

    Problem setting up libraries

Hi, I am in the process of setting up my first Emby server, on Linux Mint 17.2. I don't know if my problem is Linux related or what. The thing is, I have some serious trouble setting up my media libraries. I have my media stored locally on the system's main user, called "hpb". 3 main folders; "Musikk", "Bilder" and "Videoklipp". These are the normal Music, Pictures and Videos folders made by Mint. Within the Videos folder I have subfolders for movies, music videos, home videos and TV series. The TV series folder is so far empty. All folders and subfolders have 777 permissions. I have managed to make libraries for music, pictures and music videos, but I am not able to make any more. When I try to make the movie library f ex, I choose the content type and name, navigate to the Movies folder and click OK, the popup disappears, but no new library is made. This is making me kind of crazy. Also, it took several attempts to make the other libraries. Neither of them worked on first try. Any ideas? Edit: Out of desperation I tried to delete the empty TV series folder. And by some strange reason that seemed to help! I don't know why an empty folder should be a problem...
  18. Just started using EMBY and am loving it. Trying to set up a library for my daughter so I can add the folder for specific shows I want her to see. But it doesn't appear the work.I set the content type to "TV", then... If i add this folder it works, trouble is she gets to see ALL the shows and season in the subsequent sub-folder: \\myserver\Videos\TV If I add this folder, doesn't work (i.e no shows or seasons appear): \\myserver\Videos\TV\Glee Is there something that I need to do in EMBY or do I need to change the file structure of my server and remove one level ? Thanks Stephen
  19. Every now and then, my Emby server just hangs during the library scan because it gets stopped from somewhere, I really don't know where this is coming from, log attached. server-63582940533.txt
  20. When scanning my library to Emby, and the server calls ffprobe to analyze the files, it seems to occasionally hang at this step, resulting in main@htpc:~/.emby-server/logs$ ps -efj | grep ffprobe main 16995 17978 16994 17978 0 11:48 pts/0 00:00:00 grep ffprobe main 26502 20731 20731 20731 0 11:22 ? 00:00:00 /home/main/.emby-server/ffmpeg/20150917/ffprobe -i file:/media/Media2/Music/Roger Waters/Ca Ira/01-06 Act 1_ Scene 2_ Honest Bird, Simple Bird.flac -threads 0 -v info -print_format json -show_streams -show_format running forever at 0% CPU load. The library scan gets stuck there. Any ideas where this might come from?
  21. I've seen in other threads a few different scenarios for handling library and permission setup, but I wanted to get a clear recommendation for best practices, since I'm just starting out. Is there a recommended, standard, or common way to handle permissions of shared media libraries for emby? My media library is relatively small at the moment, but I intend on growing once I have emby up and running properly. I can see advantages of putting my media library in /home/emby, or putting it in my personal home directory and simply modifying the emby user's permission to that portion of my home directory. I could also see merit in putting it somewhere impartial like /media, /share, or /var/share. I could change ownership of the folder, or I could add the emby user to the group that has permission. I am on a shared computer, but I don't necessarily want access to the media limited to one user. The idea is that eventually it will be one media library directory where we will dump the whole family's photos, music, and videos together, and emby serves it to other devices on our network. I'm new at this, so I likely haven't thought through all the implications of each option. What do most of you guys do?

    Music library reset

Is it possible to "reset" ONLY the music library to restart with a clean fresh one? I'm having different and strange problems with my music library and I would like to do a complete refresh of it, starting with a cleant and empty one. Would removing the music library, and adding it again achieve this? I'm open to do some sqlite "surgery" with the proper guidance. I'm running Emby server 3.0.5724.6 on CentOS 7. Thanks
  23. hi there, not sure if this is the right place to post or if it should have gone to linux or another thread. I run emby Version 3.0.5675.1 on kernel 3.2.0.88 Here my issue: For some files in my library i'm missing the mediainfo of the video file (I do have the metadata, such as episode summary etc. that is not the issue). Normally, when you browse to a video file in the webclient at the bottom you will see the mediainfo. This is not the case for me, for most I do see mediainfo, but for some it shows only "container" and "path". This becomes a problem when you want emby to transcode the file as it requires this info. When I go to the metadata manager and I do a an "advanced refresh" with "add missing data" it does its thing and the missing mediainfo appears and transcoding works as well. This works recursive to one level only it seems, e.g. so if do an advanced refresh on the structure below it works: folder1 -sample.avi [mediainfo is missing] I do an advanced refresh and: folder1 -sample.avi [mediainfo is there] What does not work is and would mean to go through each folder individually (which is too much work): folder1 (e.g. tv shows) -subfolder1 (e.g. show1) -sample.avi (e.g. episode) [mediainfo missing] Also not working: folder1 (e.g. tv shows) -subfolder1 (e.g. show1) -subfolder2 (e.g. season) -sample.avi (e.g. episode) [mediainfo missing] or also not working folder1 (e.g. tv show) -subfolder1 (e.g. show1) -subfolder2 (e.g. season) -subfolder3 (e.g. episodes in folders) -sample.avi (e.g. episode) [mediainfo missing] So how to get emby to scan and add (missing) mediainfo in a recursive manner for all subfolders and the files therein? I have a scheduled task set to scan my library every 24 hours, but this info is not being added.

    Library Scan Failing

I'm pretty comfortable with Arch, but Emby has put me to the test. After two days and several 6-packs of Coke, I finally got it installed and configuration up and running in Chrome. I even somehow got two forms of media added to the library from my WD MyCloud NAS. But the folder scanning is failing. In the Library section, under the Scan Library button it just always says "Last result: (failed)". Really, really not sure what is going on. Anyone have any thoughts? My latest log file is attached but it's all greek to me. emby-Log-2015.09.20.txt
  25. Hi all, I'm facing this issue: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/24157-webclient-recursive-library-scan-missing-mediainfo/ basically I have missing mediainfo for some files, during regular or advanced library scan the missing mediainfo is not added if you have folder within folders (so recursive). If ran on the single, individual file, then it works, but with a 50TB library that is nuts. So would it be possible to add a separate trigger to scan/add missing mediainfo in a recursive scan ?
