Hi folks, First, I DID READ this thread: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/26121-tutorial-how-to-set-up-kodi/ But I exited that tutorial perhaps more confused than I started. Sorry! I'm a Kodi noob. Some of the pictures in there were essentially blank. I'm looking into Kodi because I'm switching my Emby player to be a small Windows 10 unit and currently Emby Theater doesn't play smoothly on it. Here's the symptom I'm seeing: In Emby, I've got my media set up in libraries just the way I want them. In Kodi, it's mixing things... so in Kodi, "Movies" is showing stuff from my "Movies" library, as well as from my "System Tests" library and so on. I just want Kodi to show me the names of my Emby libraries and not shuffle stuff around. I'm on Emby for Kodi 1.0.3 / 2.3.6 (stable). Here are my Emby Libraries: So, if I look in Kodi Movies here is what I see: As you can see a lot of the system test files are showing there. The Setting Up Kodi reference link I mentioned at the top was probably exactly what I need to understand but it lost me somehow. It talked about sending text with a webclient (but I've got a keyboard, so no problem just typing stuff into Kodi directly). I can go into Kodi \ Videos \ Video Add-Ons \ Emby \ Movies \ Movies\ and get to my movies list, eventually... but that's annoying and not WAF-doable. Kodi will only be used for me to play my Emby libraries. There's no content outside Emby I need to integrate. How do I get Kodi just to show me my library names on the main screen and a coverflow or poster set view of the available content when I click on any of my library names? Sorry if this is basic stuff, I'm just a bit overwhelmed. What I really want is to make Kodi mimic the user interface experience of Emby Theater. Thanks for any pointers! Marc PS: I've played around in the Confluence default skin and the picture above is in the Amber skin. I'm willing to switch to whatever skin will get me closest to what I want.

Hi, I couldn't find an obvious forum area to post this in, so if anyone can suggest a better location, please let me know so I can move it. This is not really a Roku or WMC question, it's regarding the structure of the Emby library which I've discovered after switching rom using Emby of WMC to the Roku Emby channel. Currently I have my TV media type split into folders on my drive: - TV Series - Documentaries - (a few others) I also have Movies separate. This was no problem navigating on Emby for WMC because the default view took you straight to the media folders which meant I could dive into TV Series at the top of the list and go from there. However on the Roku Channel Emby is organised differently and starts its listing by Media Type, meaning that the first 'band' on the channel is TV which is all my TV Series + Documentaries + (others), combined. I understand that this grouping is because the Emby server makes you choose TV or Movies as Media Type when you add the folders to the server in the first place. Yes I know I can scroll down on the Roku Channel to folders 'band' and my original organisation/folder structure will be there, but I'd rather just go straight into TV and have just my TV series or have my folders at the top, but there seems no way of altering the Roku Channel order? Also, there is no alternate Media Type to group my documentaries (or other TV stuff) under to put these somewhere else on the Roku channel. So my question to the developers is, why can't more Media Types be added so I can seggregate TV series (for example under TV) from other folders via alternative media types? Or can the the Roku Channel be made more customisable - like Emby on WMC so I can have my folders structure at the top of the channel? Thanks, S

Bug - GENRES and NETWORKS tabs not respecting Library context
anderbytes posted a topic in General/Windows
Hi. I've just noticed something odd. Within any TV Show library, when I click "Shows" (to see the entire list), that library's list comes. OK! BUT Still inside the same library, if I choose the tabs GENRES or NETWORKS, it starts showing ALL shows... not only of that library. In my scenario, I have 2 libraries: TOONS and GENERAL , for example. Library GENERAL -> Tab SHOWS -> List of all General shows. CORRECT. Library GENERAL -> Tab GENRES -> List of EVERY SHOW by GENRES. INCORRECT Library GENERAL -> Tab NETWORKS -> List of EVERY SHOW by NETWORKS. INCORRECT Library TOONS -> Tab SHOWS -> List of all Toons shows. CORRECT Library TOONS -> Tab GENRES -> List of EVERY SHOW by GENRES. INCORRECT Library TOONS-> Tab NETWORKS -> List of EVERY SHOW by NETWORKS. INCORRECT Can you take a look at it? Thanks -
I have a need to review the metadata, images, parental ratings... of all new media that comes new in my server, before other users (or even me) see them in TV, DLNA, Android App, etc... I have 2 ideas, please let me know if any of those are possible: Idea 1 - Create a library flag called "Hidden", where the media inserted in that library won't appear anywhere BUT the Metadata Manager, and inside there would be a button called "Publish" that simply moves the entire media folder to inside another Library. Pros: All new media that just gets downloaded or copied in that folder/library will automatically fall in a backlog visible to the Emby server admin to review or play the media, before it gets seen everywhere. Cons: One more folder/library to manage Idea 2 - Create a Library flag called "Manual Validation", where if OFF, media in there would automatically be published (as of today), and if ON, new media would have to manually flagged as "Visible" on the devices. Pros: No need for specific folder or library. Cons: Forgetting to manual validate would make new items take more time to be published.... in case the admin gets sloppy. What do you guys think?

I am running a Kodi instance with Emby plugin remotely. The access is proxied via Apache to provide secure SSL. This works perfectly in almost all regards. I can stream FullHD video and all (200/25 connection). The only thing that does not work is the automatic library update. I have to make a manual update each time anything changes. I know the server is ok: - There are local instances that are not proxied, which pick up the changes fine. - Also the remote machine does pick up the changes when I connect to the server via the site-to-site VPN, but that is too slow for actual streaming. So I am pretty sure the problem is in the Apache proxy system. What do I have to make available to allow instantaneous library updates? This is quite a bummer for me right now, because the update already takes a few minutes, and I haven't even integrated the Music library.

I have been having a problem that seems to have started with the latest server version. I am not sure when I first noticed it so I am not 100% sure if the server version has anything to do with it. Long story short if I restart my server it will complete a scan with no problems (usually within 1 minute or less). Then after a bit of time with the server up it will conduct a scan and get stuck, usually at 49.9% every time. I have put my pastebin debug log link in here and this is shortly after a server restart. It started the library scan but around 1600 on the log it froze at 97.5%. Does anyone see anything in the log that could point me in the right direction. Thank you for any help you can provide. http://pastebin.com/pKCCevZg

I have an existing Emby instance running on Windows 10 Professional. The machine has multiple hard drives with a basic structure replicated across them. For example: C:\ - OS D:\Movies D:\TV E:\Movies E:\TV I've now added an additional drive. Created the same folder structure and obviously added it to the Emby I would like to move some of the content from the other drives to the new one because they're filling up. I moved one TV show to test. When I moved it, it no longer showed that I had watched any of the episodes. The question is, is it possible to move content to a new drive with a different drive letter and have the server remember what has been watched? If not, it's not the end of the world, I'll only add new content to the new drive.

Hi! I find myself having to re-create libraries quite often (I frequently re-image my server, for instance), and it's a bit painful having to add libraries manually each time. I found the (swagger) docs for api calls that I could make via (eg.) curl here (localhost): http://localhost:8096/swagger-ui/index.html but it doesn't seem to include a call to create/add a new library. Is that possible? I'm hoping for something like: curl -H "token:abcdef" -X POST -F 'name=videos' -F 'real_time_monitoring=true' http://localhost:8096/CreateLibrary but obviously happy with anything that allows me to create libraries programmatically! Thanks, Mike

I am seeing that some of my TV shows are not available in the Library - more than 50% of shows are not shown. Yesterday I deleted the TV media library and then readded it. During scan process I saw the missing shows appear, but then they disappeared again by the time the scan process completed. I didnt yet go forensic on the logs... but first checking if anyone knows why shows might not be showing up in the library. I have checked permissions and my user has access to "all libraries". Thanks in advance for any pointers.

Not sure if its intentional or not but the description for "Display a folder view to show plain media folders" seems out of place, Highlighted in the screenshot. Great work on the update.

Recently, I make a music library to control my mp3. I found that many ID3 tag weren't correct. So I fix everything that I can, but many errors still exist that seem out of my control. Many artists are showing in double. Here the screenshot showing the problem and my directory structure. I would like to know another thing. In Kodi, who is controlling the music library? Right now, Emby in kodi is configured to enable music library but isn't in sync with the emby web. In Kodi, the number of artist is 254 vs 228 on emby. Can someone explain me the disparity? Thanks.

Since I couldn't find any solution to this problem and discovered solution by luck, having all my TV series ending up in one TV series folder, in windows explorer go to your all "TV" series folder click on name and delete- system information, last object for me (main folder, name of the folder you picked, not the folder all the files were dumped into),Save the file just in case its not the one causing the problem, and re add library. example: Drive(X): Movies TV: <- This folder Big Bang Theory Zoo

Duplicate Ignore folders with no video content in Indexing
wizbowes posted a topic in Feature Requests
I have many TV series which I've watched, deleted all videos, and am waiting for the next series to start. I've no interest in seeing these empty folders, and they clutter up my interface. I'd say about 80% of my folders currently have no content. Can we have a switch on the library to ignore folders with no video files? When the series starts again these would then be picked up by the scan, and the series would appear again. It seems silly to have folders without content available shown. -
I've modified a bash file monitoring script that I found here to update the library when a file changes in the given directory. So the script sends a curl request to update the Emby library when detects a change in any file inside the given path, it also works with files inside sub-directories. Thanks also to this post for the curl request. You just have to change de path and add your Emby API key to the curl link. The script runs every minute but this can be changed in the end where the sleep command is. To run it in the background you just have to execute the command: nohup /root/watch_emby.sh >/dev/null 2>&1 & This is for all linux users who don't have Real Time Monitoring. If you also want you can change the cmd variable to execute something else than the library update. Enjoy! watch_emby.txt

Hi All, I'm new to Emby and setting up my movie library against my NAS. It's scanning the TV shows perfectly fine, but it's ignoring all the 1000+ movies (almost entirely MKV format). This has been working fine directly from Kodi via SMB for years, any ideas? It scans successfully, but finds zero movies. Structure of the folders is /Movies/MovieName (Year)/MovieName.Year.mkv etc. Cheers

Dear Emby Community. I can not see artists and album artists in any of emby client (chrome, android, kodi) while I can see it in Metadata Manager tree. Songs and albums are showing property in all clients. It is fresh installation of Emby Server, version 3.0.64000.0 on Debian Jessie. I have proper ID3 tags (I suppose). Music is kept in mp3, wma and flac files. It is stored on xfs partition. I run emby as non-default user - changed EMBY_DATA variable. I have also changed location of EMBY_DATA folder. All file permissions are OK.

Hi, I'm trying to add some random audio files that are not music (downloaded podcasts, etc.) to my library. I've placed them in file structure that logically groups them and tried to add top level folder to the library. I've tried to add it as Video content, as Music content, as "Mixed" content - same issue. No matter how I do it - they will not show up. It looks something like this: ...\AudioContent\ ...\AudioContent\Group1\ <a bunch of .MP3 files here> ...\AudioContent\Group2\ <a bunch of .MP3 files here> etc.. I'm trying to add ...\AudioContent\ to my library. What am I doing wrong? Thank you!

I recently update emby to 3.0.6020 and have some new bugs. Some TV series doesn't show all the season even if they are there. I attached a serie (fortier) that show the problem but append on other tv series too. I attach a movie (underworld) that include all the title of the same series but should be count for 4 movies and not 1. The scheduled tasks run the scan media library and clean database this morning. I attached the log to troubleshoot more the issue. Thanks. server-63605692800.txt server-63605779197.txt server-63605779200.txt

The option activated is "Save metadata and images as hidden files" but it is only for new files added. Actually, I didn't activated it when I first installed Emby, so all the "old" metadata is not hidden but newly added files are hidden. Can you fix this bug? Thanks.

Hi all, I am trying to do a fresh install of Kodi (15.2) with the Emby Plugin. After the install and configuration the library sync starts. I processes all the movies, goes onto boxsets and then hangs (Processing Boxsets / 76 items - Naked Gun Collection) - note Kodi is not hanging, but the sync appears to stop. 1. I hit the problem above and waited for 10 minutes - nothing changed 2. I shut down kodi and restarted 3. Library sync started from scratch again and hit the same problem (naked gun again). 4. I uninstalled Kodi and did a fresh install 5. Hit that same problem at the same point (Naked Gun Collection). I have Kodi running on another machine with the Emby add-on and haven't hit this problem (that system has been running for approx 9 months). I have attached the log. Any advice appreciated. Cheers kodi.log

I detected this several weeks ago but I only had time to report it now. I'm running Emby 5930 (latest stable). Can't remember the exact Emby version when the problem started but since some time now (maybe two months) my library scans went from around 2:30mins to around 12-14 mins. Today I was checking the logs and I saw tons of exceptions while contacting musicbrainz.org since the site is returning a 503 error for many requests from Emby: 2016-04-19 21:32:01.4539 Info HttpClient: HttpClientManager GET: http://www.musicbrainz.org/ws/2/release/?query="(2001)+Just+Push+Play" AND arid:3d2b98e5-556f-4451-a3ff-c50ea18d57cb 2016-04-19 21:32:01.6613 Error HttpClient: Error getting response from http://www.musicbrainz.org/ws/2/release/?query="(2001)+Just+Push+Play" AND arid:3d2b98e5-556f-4451-a3ff-c50ea18d57cb *** Error Report *** Version: 3.0.5930.0 Command line: /usr/lib/emby-server/bin/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe -programdata /var/lib/emby-server -restartpath /usr/lib/emby-server/restart.sh Operating system: Unix 3.10.0.327 Processor count: 4 64-Bit OS: True 64-Bit Process: True Program data path: /var/lib/emby-server Mono: 4.2.1 (Stable 4.2.1.102/6dd2d0d Wed Jan 13 16:44:34 UTC 2016) Application Path: /usr/lib/emby-server/bin/MediaBrowser.Server.Mono.exe One or more errors occurred. I'm not familiar with MusicBrainz, is it like opensubtitles that requires to have a user account to query the site? Cheers.

Hello guys, I've two different "sections": TV and TV-English, but both sections contain the same series: New Girl - of course in different languages and on a different place on the servers drive. - TV is stored in /mnt/series/New.Girl/ - TV-English is stored in /mnt/series_english/New.Girl/ For some weird reason emby mixes those things up in the TV section (but not in TV-English), so I have 1 episode english, 1 in german, 1 in english, 1 in german and so on. It looks like this: https://puu.sh/oOdO6/38caa11703.jpg First episode is from /mnt/series_english/New.Girl/, like shown here: https://puu.sh/oOdS9/efbc48799b.jpg Second episode is from /mnt/series/New.Girl/. shown here: https://puu.sh/oOdUn/6e0fad1230.jpg For me it seems like a bug, but maybe I configured something wrong. I'm running Debian Stretch with the latest beta of emby-server. Thanks in advance! Regards, Steffen
