  1. Hi playing some of my files always fails with message" CONNECTION ERROR":/ [..]dex=1&VideoCodec=h264&Profile=high&Level=41&MaxVideoBitDepth=8&MaxWidth=1280&VideoBitrate=7689730&AudioCodec=dts&AudioBitrate=360000&MaxAudioChannels=6&MediaSourceId=37be07606503ea8e68d8d8828a8c827c&DeviceId=ZPCAMPY4GXSJS&StartTimeTicks=0 [...] (it contains h264 but its h265, is that a coinciedence?). On other devices transcoding works; so I assume the Samsung is the problem. The more I´m playing around with it, I´m coming to the point that a CONCURRENT transcoding of HEVC & DTS is a problem - pls see the att. files. but H265 / DD is working H264 / DTS works Please see the info and logs. tnx for helping me Samsung model number: UE65F8090 Samsung firmware version: v1135 (latest available at 25.10.2017) Samsung Emby client version #: v2.2.2 ffmpeg-transcode.txt server.txt
  2. I guys . I'm totally new to emby so i hope my question won't be too stupid for you Status : HP n 54l with xpenology and plex media server. I want to switch from plex to emby because there is nos significant improvement on hardware transcoding since a year and i need a plex pass to use it. Purpose : Adding a Nvidia gt1030 for Hardware transcoding on the fly 4K HEVC from it to read it from a distant place. Is there any chance it works ? Like i dont whant to waste my money I decided to try emby on my gaming computer (gtx980 + 6600k + win 10) to see how mature was hardware transcoding on Emby. Just installed the server and running it. No configuration other than switching to Nvidia NVENC. Switch to my Z3 tablet with the android app and do this : Try to read a full HD movie in H264 - without transcoding => OK CPU 1% NO GPU - Transcoding to 720P 2mbps => 13% CPU 20% GPU (why ? shoudln't the cpu stay to 1%) Try to read a Full HD movie in H265 - without transcoding => OK CPU 1% NO GPU - transcoding to anything Doesn't work . (log attached). Any advice on the probability to decode 4h hevc with Hpn54l + gt1030 is welcome.(most of all for say to me it will works ) Any help to understand why my test was a faile dis welcome too. Let me now if you need any other informations or If i forgot something.

    Emby Transcoding 4K HEVC

Can't get 4K UHD to playback on Xbox One S. Sound plays in the background but the screen is green the entire time. It keeps transcoding. Any ideas why? Log.txt
  4. I am running Emby server on an older, but decently-powerful Windows 7 x64 platform of Intel i7-920 at 3.4 GHz, 6GB RAM and Nvidia GTX-770 graphics. All my local network (wired and wireless) clients stutter when attempting to play a particular 4K HEVC video at 4Mb bitrate. The server PC can easily play the video locally using Windows Media Player and Shark007 codec, although it does consume 40% CPU. But Emby appears to have no ability to deal with this. Given that all clients (Android, iPad, and Windows 10) suffer the same stutter-then-crash effect, I am guessing this is a problem at the server end? AFAIK, it is only with this particular combination of advanced codec and 4K resolution. The Windows 10 clients have no trouble playing the file directly over the network using WMP with the appropriate codecs installed. Any idea what is the problem with Emby, or possibly Emby server?
  5. Hello I've used the new Emby Theater for a while now and it runs very stable and keeps improving constantly. Thanks for the auto logout btw! Yesterday however I noticed two errors while catching up with Game of Thrones (yes I know, I'm a few seasons behind but now I can binge watch them;)). The first one was really a minor one, the episode played fine but the English subs were loaded instead of the Dutch ones that I've set as default in the preferences. This works correctly with files with external subs, but this one only had internal subs so maybe that's the cause? The second one was when I tried to watch another episode: the loading circle just kept spinning and the episode didn't start playing. I tried a few times but the file didn't start. This morning I checked the logs and noticed that the InternalDirectShowPlayer throws a NullReferenceException on starting the episode. 2016-06-21 23:02:59.7979 Error InternalDirectShowPlayer: InvokeOnPlayerThread Object reference not set to an instance of an object. System.NullReferenceException at System.Windows.Forms.Control.MarshaledInvoke(Control caller, Delegate method, Object[] args, Boolean synchronous) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.Invoke(Delegate method, Object[] args) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.Invoke(Delegate method) at Emby.Theater.DirectShow.InternalDirectShowPlayer.InvokeOnPlayerThread(Action action, Boolean throwOnError) 2016-06-21 23:02:59.7979 Error InternalDirectShowPlayer: Error beginning playback Object reference not set to an instance of an object. System.NullReferenceException at Emby.Theater.DirectShow.InternalDirectShowPlayer.InvokeOnPlayerThread(Action action, Boolean throwOnError) at Emby.Theater.DirectShow.InternalDirectShowPlayer.PlayTrack(String path, Int64 startPositionTicks, Boolean isVideo, BaseItemDto item, MediaSourceInfo mediaSource, String forcedVideoRenderer) at Emby.Theater.DirectShow.InternalDirectShowPlayer.Play(String path, Int64 startPositionTicks, Boolean isVideo, BaseItemDto item, MediaSourceInfo mediaSource, String forcedVideoRenderer) I also noticed the following line in the log: 2016-06-21 23:04:28.4639 Info InternalDirectShowPlayer: Current HWA Mode: None Desired Mode: DXVA2CopyBack Does this mean that no hardware acceleration is used? I've attached the full log with the complete error and will check my player settings tonight but I think they were set to use MADVR. Anyone has any ideas on how to solve these 2 problems? Thanks! theater-63602144954.txt
  6. Hi guys, Is it possible to enable HEVC hardware acceleration with the Emby LAV filters? I have a GTX 960, which decodes x265 content and when playing HEVC files outside of Emby, the HEVC checkbox in LAV filters is enabled. However, when playing the same file through Emby Theater, the HEVC checkbox is not enabled. Is it possible to enable it? I'm having issues with smooth playback even at lower bitrates. Thanks!
  7. If anyone else is using a 960 for x265 playback, I'd love to pick your brain on settings and playback experience. I'm having playback issues with some files, while others are silky smooth despite having very similar bitrates, resolution, etc. My rendering times for some are 15-20 ms, while others are 40+ms. Thanks
  8. Hi gott a question about the built in vlc. what's the differens to use it and disable it? Because if its enabled it cant play dvd in h265 (hevc) but it works for the most part in Blu-ray h265. (hevc) If i disable it its no problem playing dvd or bluray. so what's the differens between the different players? the hardware being used is remix mini /Regards

    x264 to x265

Heya Does anyone know whether or not a straight conversion of x264 (AVC) to x265 (HEVC) reduces quality at all, or it will just have better efficiency in compression? I don't mean re-encoding, or does that actual process have to involve re-encoding? Also, what would be best for this, as it's my understanding software such as handbrake only re-encodes. I would like to shrink my collection as it makes sense to? or does it not? Pros and cons would also be much appreciated. Cheers, Mike
  10. Is there a way to implement H.265 playback in to the web browser, whitout it transcoding it to H.264? Found Open Source Software http://www.libde265.org/ is there a way to implement it, or is it far into the future Whit H.265?
