  1. on win10 tablet, after 10 minutes of playing something, playback gets cut off and i found this in the event log The system is entering connected standby Reason: Idle Timeout. happens for both audio & video files seems that somehow the idle timer is not "informed" that there is something playing haven't used ET on the tablet for a couple of weeks, but i'm sure, the last time i did, this didn't take place
  2. Hi, does anyone else have this issue - the Emby Theater client plays SD content only at 480P My Xbox is set to 1080p and all video source files for this example are 720 x 576 or 720 x 480 and in either m4v or mkv container format. I am not able to capture any screen shots but what I can share is that any film which I play via the app on my Xbox plays at a lower resolution - i.e. grainy, lossy, etc. I can play the same film on an Nvidia Shield, or even my smart phone (also a Linux box via the browser) or any one of a number of Windows boxes using Kodi ... and the files play as expected. ONLY when using the Emby Theater client on my Xbox does this issue exist. Any thoughts?
  3. Just updated the server to latest 3.4.0.0. Emby Theater is giving me a connection failure from Xbox One for both me and another client. All other app (that I know of) work both on the LAN and over the WAN (VZN LTE). Tested over android and Apple. Works fine. Will not work over Xbox. Connection Failure “We’re unable to connect....” Emby Theater Version 1.1.207.70 I checked the server logs, never seeing the app reach the server.
  4. On Emby Theater (latest) in Windows 10 (1803) the mouse cursor reappears when media change happens, and does not disappear after. Ie: Click on episode 1 Move cursor to lower corner of screen out of habit Media bar and cursor eventually fade out Finish episode 1 Mouse cursor reappears in lower corner and never disappears. This gives me the angular resize cursor in the lower corner when I'm binge watching and it drives me bonkers.
  5. I'm using a Xbox 360 controller with Emby Theater Desktop App in Windows 10 and i have noticed that the "Enter" button (A button) doesn't work in some places, like in the manual login screen where i expected to press the "A" button so it shows the on screen keyboard but that doesn't happens however if i call the on screen keyboard using "intro" key on the usb keyboard then i can input some letters using the Xbox 360 controller and the "A" button. Another instance where i find this same behavior is when selecting the version to play in multi version movies, changing the audio or the subtitle track, again pressing the "A" button does nothing, but then pressing "intro" key on the keyboard i allows me to choose the track select it with "A" button. And the last place where i find this bug was in the settings menu, i'm able to navigate through the menus but can't change any option.
  6. SO this is something I really miss from Kodi. In kodi, it's possible to go into a tv show, and select "All seasons" all the way at the beginning of the season listings. This would then bring up a playlist comprised of every episode in every season in order. What I would then use this for, is to "sort by IMDB rating" or "sort by TheTVDB rating" and then scroll through the highest rated episodes of the entire series. A super super useful feature that I used every day. And one I miss dearly in Emby. Of course I could just use Kodi and do DLNA from Emby, but it's just not as aesthetically pleasing or as stable. I much prefer Emby for every single thing EXCEPT this. Is this possible in the Emby metadata framework? Is there an option to do this somewhere already that I just can't find?? Would anyone else use this? Is it just me? Bueler?

    Title issues in Emby Theater

I prefer titles to be visible on all views, as there are many titles that have the same poster but different titles, such as when a movie has 58 different cuts/editions/versions, ala Bladerunner. However having just started using Emby Theater I am finding some title issues: 1. Titles are getting ...'d instead of their label being shrunk to fit. (For example the title will fit if viewed in Desktop mode, but not in TV mode) 2. Titles are outright missing in collections.

    150% volume (like VLC)

a lot of my media is really quiet and I have to go into the windows volume mixer and turn everything else to 50% volume and leave emby theater at full to get it to normal volume it would be great if I could set the volume in emby theater to 150% like I can in vlc is there anyway to make the volume slider go to 150% thanks DETAILS: emby theater from windows store on windows 10 (client) emby server Version 3.2.70.0 on debian 9 (server)
  9. Here's the problem I'm having: I have two clients connected to my server. Client 1 is running Emby Theater. I use this client to play media on my TV. Client 2 is running the Emby Web App. I use this client as a remote control. Normally, I can see the Emby Theater client under the list of cast devices from the Web App. However, if the server restarts, after both clients have re-connected, the Emby Theater client no longer appears under the list of cast devices. Even if I restart the Web App client, it doesn't display. The only way to get it back is to close Emby Theater and open it again. This error is reproducible. (I've reproduced it just now using the above steps).
  10. I have a fairly simple setup on my lounge room media center PC. Emby Theater primarily with Steam Big Picture for games & occasionally use YouTube via a browser for streaming content. I've been looking for a while to find a way to better integrate these separate programs with Emby Theater to avoid falling back to using the dreaded mouse or keyboard & found the below solution works well for me. Firstly, this process assumes that you have a controller connected to your media center PC. If you use Steam in your lounge room already then that is likely not an issue, but if you were only looking to add YouTube then you may need to include one, or find another option via a programmable remote or something similar. Emby supports controller inputs natively so your controller can be used to navigate your media too when not playing games! The setup instructions below will cover installing & setting up both Steam Big Picture & YouTube TV together. Feel free to skip what you do not want. If you do not want one or the other simply remove them from the Emby controller profile below. In theory, this should also work with any other 3rd party app or web based sites like Netflix you may wish to call from within Emby Theater. How does it work? Basically, this will setup a small batch file script that will run on your PC & will trigger on a button press mapped to your controller. When triggered, the batch file will close Emby, then load up Steam Big Picture (or YouTube TV), then when you finish & exit/close, it will re-open Emby again seamlessly. It uses a program called Controller Companion to integrate the switching between apps, with an improved profile for both Emby & YouTube TV to give you full control when these apps are active. No profile is needed for Steam Big Picture as this has full controller support already (just exit as normal to switch back to Emby). What will you need? - 10-20mins of time to configure & test. - Text file editor (such as Notepad or Notepad++). - Web Browser (such as Google Chrome). - Controller Companion software (this is available direct via Steam for a few $$$ or can be purchased here: http://controllercompanion.com/ ). - Free command line utility called NirCmd (available here: https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/nircmd.html ). Choose 32bit or 64bit depending on your OS. - Download ZIP attached to this post (below). *There are alternatives to Controller Companion, such as XPadder, which may also work with this setup. I like Controller Companion though as it is simple/automatic, allows control of Windows via the controller when nothing is running & crucially can map running a batch file to a button press.* A - Preliminary Setup: 1) Extract the download zip file to C:\Emby App Switcher\ (you can change this to any location but will need to update the batch files to align) 2) Install & Set Steam into Big Picture mode (When you exit make sure you exit Steam and not exit Big Picture mode). 3) Set Steam to remember your password so it will log in automatically. 4) Install Controller Companion (Steam is not required to be running for CC to run in background). 5) Open Controller Companion Settings -> set it to run on Start Up, Disable Show Balloon Tool-Tips & Disable Play Sounds on Disable. 6) Go to Profiles tab & Import from file, the two profiles from the downloaded zip (one for Emby [Electron] & one for Chrome). 7) Install Google Chrome (as needed). 8) In Chrome, load up the link (www.youtube.com/tv) & follow the instructions to register the web app with your Google account. Authorise & Exit. 9) Go to the link & download NirCmd. Extract this to the same location as your .bat files. (If not in the same folder it will not work!) B - Configuring the Batch files: There are 2 bat files for each program (total of 4 bat files) which contains the code to perform the application switch. Loading the file in Notepad will present you with this: EmbySteamSwitch.bat: @[member="Echo"] off taskkill /f /im electron.exe call "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steam.exe" start /d"C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Theater\system" Emby.Theater.exe goto :eof EmbyYouTubeSwitch.bat: @[member="Echo"] off taskkill /f /im electron.exe call "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" -kiosk http://www.youtube.com/tv start /d"C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Emby-Theater\system" Emby.Theater.exe goto :eof - Edit the application paths for Steam & Chrome to your local installation folders. - Update the Emby Theater path to include your local username (ie replace <user>) - Save all files & close. Note: Chrome is forced to run in 'Kiosk' mode. This will prevent the browser from exiting full screen mode. You can also change -kiosk parameter to --start-fullscreen which will start the browser in full screen mode but still allow you to switch out of it while its running via F11 key (say if you wanted it to be used as a standard browser function too). You may need to modify your Controller Companion profile to expand the browser controls if you want this. The other two bat files named SteamLauncher.bat & YouTubeLauncher.bat are the files you will run linked into the controller profiles to call on the above bat files. These utilise the NirCmd utility downloaded earlier. NirCmd has one function only, and that is to hide the DOSBox/Command window from running in the background during the switch. nircmd.exe exec hide EmbySteamSwitch.bat Gives the whole process a cleaner transition. You should not have to edit these bat files unless you have renamed the other bat files above. C - The Controller Companion Profiles: The Emby CC Profile has two main buttons to perform the switching. This is the Guide button & the Start button as seen in the image below. I have also enhanced the standard controller mappings in Emby to add button controls for Volume, Skip Forward/Back, Next/Prev Track & direct Play/Pause. The default keys remain unmapped in the profile to ensure it works with the built in controller support in Emby. Note: If you have moved the install folder location from C:\Emby App Switcher\ you will also need to update this in the Emby CC profile at this point to map the Guide/Start buttons accordingly. The YouTube CC Profile contains all the keyboard mappings available for the TV app. It also includes Windows Media Controls for Next/Prev video, volume controls & allows for integration of the Virtual Keyboard wheel that is part of Controller Companion for quicker text input. To exit out of YouTube TV, press the Start button on the controller (same button you used to enter YouTube TV). I've been testing this out for the last week & the solution seems solid, but if you encounter any issues please let me know. Hope you find this helpful! EmbyAppSwitcher1.0.zip
  11. Hello, I am a new Emby Premier subscriber and am excited to use the Emby Theater. I seem to be missing the home screen options that I have in the web browser. Is there a way to add the Latest Media section to the Home Screen of Emby Theater? Thank you in advacne, Juls
  12. It seems that the Favorites tile pulls images from all items in that library, not just the actual Favorited items. That's a bit confusing, as you can have an image displayed that is not actually a Favorite. Is this perhaps a bug? I'm using Emby Theater for Windows desktop, on Windows 10 x64. Let me know if you need any further details, or if I'm just missing something obvious. Thanks!
  13. How do I delete the Emby Theater cache so it will rebuild from scratch its cache of metadata images? I searched and couldn't find the answer. ET is not showing some images -- some posters are missing. They show in the server web view, so I think it's a Theater problem. I want to just purge its cache and start over rather than trying to find and fix individual movies / shows. Short of uninstalling ET, I don't know how to purge its cache.
  14. Emby Server 3.2.30.0 Emby Theater 2.8.3 I have researched and found articles about emby theater blacking out on NVIDIA cards. I have attempted to try some solutions none work, that I have found. Now let me tell you about the setup I am running, the symptoms, and my thoughts about possible issues. I have multiple machines (windows 10 64bit running emby. The server is obviously running on one. That is not the issue. Machine 1 (with server, Nvidia dual, (SLI) GTX 1080 hybrid (liquid cooled)vid cards, Also gaming machine) not issue Machine 2. windows 10 64bit NVIDIA Titan hybrid (liquid cooled). THIS IS THE PROBLEM MACHINE. Running Emby theater, 3 video outputs, dual DVI, and HDMI to LCD 70" screen. I have also connected via HDMI. Emby Server Dashboard on this machine also, to access the server on the other machine. I am running auto updates and the latest software for theater, and server. PROBLEM. Theater runs fine for about an hour or two on the problem machine, then it blacks out. The blue power button on the display turns yellow, that is telling me there is no display signal on the monitor, then it also states no dsplay signal, also the LCD tv states signal loss. The Hard Drive on the machine continues to get lit, I end up hard restarting the machine, Then it works fine then goes through the same issue again. One thing i did notice I also have emby dashboard installed on the second computer, If i play the movie through that it works fine, It only does it in Emby Theater. They must use different players, because my wireless headphones have player controls on them, The controls work with Emby theater, but do not in the Emby Server mode. In Emby server, only the volume controls work. So obviously, the controls\program is different between theater and server players. That is why I like the Theater option better, my controls work for remote playing. I have restarted, updated, checked for screen saver timeouts (which there maybe some that I did not find, between monitor, windows, NVIDIA etc) I have used Emby for years, love it, but this one has me pulling what little hair i have left out on it. Still, thanks for the great program. Dan
  15. Hello everyone. Starting about a week ago any movie I Direct play on my windows 10 Machine through the Emby Theater Application runs the Ram usage so high that the movie pauses and the computer becomes useless. It only has 4 Gig of Ram, but does Emby really require that? I have tested 1080P no CC, 720P no CC, and 480P no cc. I have also tested all 3 with 5.1 DTS, 5.1 AAC, 5.1 AC3. I have verified that it is Direct Stream and it's not Transcoding anything. The same movies work fine through WMP when access over DLNA. They also work fine on my Android tablet, Roku, and AndroidTv Emby Application. It however does not work with the Emby theater app on the Win 10 Machine, nor my Xbox One. I can attach logs if anybody would like to help. I could not find anything when I went thru them. But any help would be greatly appreciated.
  16. Hi, I purchased lifetime premiere a few months ago and have yet to successfully play back media using the Emby Theater app without the "unlock this feature with an active Emby Premiere subscription" pop up. I do have the gold coin on the front page of the admin page on a web browser and have access to the other Premiere features through the standard web browser. I tried multiple computers, and clean installs of Emby Theater. -On the side note. Every few logins using a typical computer web browser (tried multiple), I get the annoying Emby Premiere ad on my homescreen. I tried to sign into the theater app using Emby Connect, and my Emby user account with no change. Any ideas?
  17. Flextuary An Emby Theater Skin This is a community-developed Emby Theater skin that draws inspiration on my love for the new default Kodi v17 skin, Estuary. Whilst some parts borrow heavily on the original Kodi skin, others are just loosely based around the general feel. The GitHub repository for this skin is at: https://github.com/flexage/emby-web-flextuary Current Status This skin is currently still in development, and far from feature complete. That being said, all major areas have been given a once over, and the skin should be perfectly usable even at this early stage. Known IssuesFor now, at least, this skin is unsupported by the UWP (Windows Store / Xbox One) version of Emby Theater. The standard desktop version and the hosted client at http://tv.emby.media/ are reported as working fine. If you have a large number of libraries, that disappear off the bottom of the navigation on the left side of the home screen, you will be able to navigate to them with your keyboard or remote, but the navigation will not scroll down to show them as selected. Feature Requests You can request and cast your vote for features over on our FeatHub: http://feathub.com/flexage/emby-web-flextuary Features with more votes are more likely to get worked on sooner, so if there's something you'd like to see added, make sure you get it up there! InstallationTo install, first launch Emby Theater. Then navigate to the settings, and go to the "Installed Plugins" option. Select "Install Plugin" and then choose "Install from URL". For the Plugin URL, enter https://flexage.github.io/emby-web-flextuary/package.json Go to Settings -> Display and make sure Flextuary is selected as your skin Return back to the home screen. After a few seconds, if the skin hasn't changed, you may need to restart Emby Theater. Kodi UI Sound Pack For those authentic Kodi UI sounds to complement this skin, I've put together a separate Emby Theater plugin. Just install a plugin from an url, as per the skin instillation instructions above, and use this url: https://github.com/flexage/emby.web.plugins.soundeffects.kodi Other Sound Packs If you're feeling adventurous, you could also check out one of these other sound packs I put together. Android TV Sound Pack: https://flexage.github.io/emby.web.plugins.soundeffects.androidtvsounds/package.json Plink Sound Pack: https://flexage.github.io/emby.web.plugins.soundeffects.plink/package.json Change Log v1.1.2 [13/06/2017] - Preliminary support for collections/boxsets v1.1.1 [10/06/2017] - Maintenance Release (Fixes the missing libraries / empty home screen issue) v1.1.0 [08/06/2017] - Added: Skin Color Schemes (Go to "Settings -> Flextuary Skin" to choose a color scheme) - Added: back arrow on library and detail pages - Added: stop button to video player OSD - Fixed: wrap tiles to new rows on the settings screen rather than squish them - Fixed: bug which caused the text on the TV Episode lists to appear red v1.0.0 [06/06/2017] - Initial Release
  18. It would be helpful if Media Stubs that have online metadata would automatically download (or there be an option to make set it as automatic) additional metadata that normally would be derived from the video file, particularly Duration / Length / Runtime of the video (and then of course actually display that metadata in Emby Theater). I realize that the online metadata may not always exactly match the true duration (eg, a special edition DVD with extra scenes not in the official theatrical length), but anything would be more useful than nothing here. If I'm trying to decide on something to watch it is unfortunate to have to go dig up the physical DVD/Blu-ray (or switch to the online service provider, if is something I have on Vudu, iTunes, etc.) in order to find out how long it is (particularly since movies can vary in length from ~1.5 hours to 2.5+ hours). Thanks!
  19. Hello, When playing back video in Emby Theater or Emby in a browser on Windows 10, the audio drops out and then the video freezes. This pattern repeats every six to nine seconds. It only occurs on recorded TV. The only symptom I observed is that the Task Manager show a large peak in the network traffic on the playback machine and the same infinite peak on the server. This seems to have occurred after the recent update to server version Version 3.2.12.0. I have reverted to using the PC because the XBox playback currently fails in less than 15 seconds. Any recommendations are welcome.
  20. As I'm slowing converting some of my library to MKV, I'm encountering multi-angle / multi-video-track DVD's, and I'm wondering how folks tend to handle these, as well as what the current (and likely future) support is in Emby (particularly Emby Theater) for being able to recognize and switch between multiple video tracks (or angles) contained in a single MKV file? I thought I came across a post indicating that Emby does not currently provide a way to switch between multiple angles/video-tracks, but I can't seem to find that post so I may have imagined it. I realize that one option is to just rip 2 versions of the content, one with one angle/track, and the other with the other. The upside is that this route should circumvent any compatibility issues there might be with Emby or other players. The downside of course is potentially a lot of duplicated space (eg, in the case of a movie with just a few alternate scenes). How well does Emby handle multi-angle MKV's? And have any of you created multi-angle MKV's, and if so, what is your process? It appears to me that MakeMKV let's you pick one angle or the other, but it does not appear to me that it gives an option to combine them into a single file containing just the differing portions of each video track (and the ability, in supporting players, to switch between video tracks). I can probably live with going the route of creating multiple complete files, each with a different video track / angle, but figured it is worth checking if there are more efficient, supported ways of going about all this. Thanks!
  21. The video backdrops feature is pretty nifty. Sometimes I have multiple video backdrops, and it has occurred to me that it could be nice (on a per-backdrops-folder basis) if there were a way (perhaps through special filenaming?) to designate: that only a configured number of backdrop videos should play; and that whatever that number is, the videos should be randomly selected from the total amount from within the backdrops folder. For example, perhaps with one item (movie, tv season, etc.) I have 3 video backdrops and I only want 1 to be randomly selected and played. But for another item maybe I have 5 video backdrops and so I decide I want 2 to be randomly selected and played. 22. This functionality may already exist, but if so I haven't been able to trigger it. I love the Emby Theater "Screensaver" -- it is a great way to be reminded of various titles in my library. It would be nifty if there were a key-combo that would take the user directly to item currently being displayed by the Emby Theater "Screensaver." It's fun seeing various items being displayed, but then it is a pain to have to go search for them! I propose one of the following key-combos be used (these are from Keyboard and Remote Support): control-d (which normally "shows menu or info for selected content"). spacebar (which normally "toggles play/pause"). Windows media "play" command. There's pros and cons to each, but my thinking is we should use an existing command that would make somewhat intuitive sense for taking the user to the item being displayed, while also not being something that one might commonly use to exit the "screensaver" (which in my opinion makes "spacebar" less ideal for this purpose). The good news is that even if the user accidentally triggers this functionality they should be able to use the "Back" command to go back to the previous screen. And I think an existing command is preferable to a brand new command because a remote has a limited number of buttons and it is undesirable to have to dedicate one to this functionality when an existing key-combo could be re-purposed for this context. PS - If this is something you might like to see implemented, be sure to "Like" this top/first post (as well as any subsequent posts in this thread that highlight particular aspects of what you are interested in) -- "Liking" the top/first post helps the Devs to know how much interest there is in a given Feature Request.
  23. In Emby Theater if you have a DVD folder rip, Emby Theater displays the label "DVD". Presumably it does similar things for Blu-ray, HDDVD, etc. Since Media Stubs support "source flags," it would be useful/helpful if Emby Theater would display the corresponding label (eg, DVD, Blu-ray, HDDVD, etc.) derived from the source flag (otherwise, what's the point of the source flags?). This both informs the user of what type of disc they're looking for (in the event that one organizes their discs by format), as well as giving some indication of the resolution of the disc (inferred simply by format), which is pertinent for instances where a user also has a given movie available via services like Vudu, perhaps in a higher resolution. Thanks! 24. Edit: This would only be for on the Detail screen of an item, as that is where I think it would make the most intuitive sense. It would be nifty in Emby Theater to have some way to select the Poster and enlarge it for better viewing. Perhaps we could be able to select the Poster itself, and then press Enter to Enlarge? Personally, I'd be interested in a two-stage method: Activating Enlarging makes the Poster fill the screen; then pressing Enter a 2nd time (while Poster is filling the screen) Enlarges Poster to full size (if it is not already at full size); a 3rd Enter press then restores the Poster back to normal. In my old custom system I had this functionality (the two-stage method), and I appreciated it for certain really detailed posters. However, I realize other's may not care about that level of detail, and so I could be content with just having a method to Enlarge the Poster to fill the screen (or to go as big as it can in given the original file size, while staying within the bounds of the screen). PS-If this is something you might like to see implemented, be sure to "Like" this top/first post (as well as any subsequent posts in this thread that highlight particular aspects of what you are interested in) -- "Liking" the top/first post helps the Devs to know how much interest there is in a given Feature Request.
  25. I think I've seen comments here and there regarding people not liking how Backdrops (still images, or videos) are partially obscured. I'm not sure yet what my opinion is on that (though I think I lean towards being fine with the partial fade/gradient). But as I'm starting to experiment with using video Backdrops it has occurred to me that it would be useful if there were an icon that appeared when a video backdrop is playing, similar to how things work with an Audio Theme file, that in this case would enable the user to fully display the video backdrop (either through temporarily hiding the main content that is obscuring the video, or by displaying the video in a full screen video mode -- I lean towards the first option personally). Similarly, having a button (it could be the same button/icon) that enables one to display the still-image backdrop could be nifty. Perhaps the icon could be a film cell / film strip? http://www.scenebank.com/filmstriponecell.jpg And maybe if a video Backdrop is playing the icon could have a "play" arrow inside it? https://us.123rf.com/450wm/blankstock/blankstock1407/blankstock140702315/30042947-video-sign-icon-video-frame-symbol-seamless-grid-lines-texture-cells-repeating-pattern-white-texture.jpg?ver=6 In general I like the aesthetics of Emby Theater, but it would be cool to have a way to better view / appreciate / enjoy video and static Backrops, while still having them default to being in the background (as they should be), until called for by a user action for better/fuller viewing. Edit: What about a user setting that enables the poster, text, etc. to all fade away automatically when there is no mouse or keyboard activity for a set time (eg, 5 seconds) when there is a video backdrop playing, and everything fades back in if you move the mouse or navigate via keypress commands? With something like that the experience for items with a video backdrop would be that you'd enter the item, the video backdrop would begin playing as the poster, text, etc. fades away, and only if you move the mouse, activate a keypress, etc. would everything fade back in (while the video backdrop continues to play until finished, but just obscured again). And if you are not moving the mouse or activating a keypress for a set amount (eg, 5 seconds?) then everything fade away again to reveal the video backdrop (if it is still playing). The assumption being that if you're bothering to use video backdrops, then you probably want to see them, and so starting with the video backdrop as soon as you enter the detail screen makes sense, and then you can always move the mouse, activate a keypress to bring everything back in order to navigate to buttons, etc. PS-If this is something you might like to see implemented, be sure to "Like" this top/first post (as well as any subsequent posts in this thread that highlight particular aspects of what you are interested in) -- "Liking" the top/first post helps the Devs to know how much interest there is in a given Feature Request.
