  1. This is building on what I've mentioned previously ( https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/41937-questions-about-media-stubs/ ). Being able to create custom Media Stubs ( https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Media%20stubs ) would be ideal, but I realize that is probably unlikely. So what I propose instead is a new Media Stub called Online, which could be indicated by ".online" instead of ".disc" (or even ".disconline" would be fine). I think with more and more media moving to an online context (ie, Vudu, iTunes, Disney Movies Anywhere) there is a place for having this kind of Media Stub. Now, would could then provide a relatively easy way that users could define their own online providers via Media Stub be allowing for the following naming convention: ".provider.online". So the user could just use ".online" or they could enter whatever continuous (ie, between ".") string they want to identify a given online provider (eg, "Terminator (1984).vudu.online") and then Emby would parse that and add it to an internal list of online providers. Then, using my other feature request of custom messages for Media Stubs ( https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/44010-emby-theater-external-player-custom-messages-particularly-for-media-stubs-and-tags/ ) Emby could provide a way to pick from the list of any Online Providers using the same UI I described for selecting Tags) when setting up an External Player of type "Media Stubs". Or, we could skip all that and just allow the user to manually enter strings to match of off (eg, ".vudu.online") -- this would basically be allowing Externally Players (in this case to display a custom message, per the other feature request) to be matched by arbitrary filename string patterns. In some ways that might actually be the easiest way to go (ie, the least work). And personally, I could live with that as I could then just create my own naming scheme using the existing Media Stub structure (eg, "Terminator (1984).vudu.online.disc") and match off of that for my custom messages (once the other feature request is implemented). Thanks! 2. This is somewhat related to the FR (which I'd also like to see implemented) for defining External Players based on Tags ( https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/31386-request-external-playback-based-on-tags/ ). What I'd like to add to that is External Player support for Media Stubs ( https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Wiki/wiki/Media%20stubs ), with the ability to define a custom message to be displayed instead of the default message that is displayed for Media Stubs. (For those not familiar with Media Stubs, they are empty files that mark the existence of offline media, thus they are not "playable" within Emby, so a message is displayed instead.) I'm open to a variety of ways of going about this, but my current thought would be to add a Media Type of "Offline Media (Media Stubs)". And then the Enable For list would be something like this: Disc (no media flag) DVD Media Flag (if the filename contains DVD). Bluray Media Flag (if the filename contains BLURAY, BRRIP, BD25, or BD50). HDDVD Media Flag (if the filename contains HDDVD). TV Media Flag (if the filename contains HDTV, PDTV, or DSR). VHS Media Flag (if the filename contains VHS). I propose that Tag support (which could be added for all media types, not just Media Stubs) be added under Additional Filters, perhaps with a checkbox for Tags which would then open a dialog for selecting from a list of all Tags used within Emby. (Note that this functionality might depend on underlying functionality related to: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/40912-metadata-manager-tags-autocomplete/ ) The Custom Message field should default to whatever Emby normally says for Media Stubs (and probably include a way to restore the default message), to make for easy customizing. The benefit to general users of being able to customize the message is that they can indicate where to go look for the disc (ie, everyone's physical organization is different). For my purposes, I'm wanting Tag support as well (and/or the ability to create custom Media Stubs [ https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/41937-questions-about-media-stubs/ ], but I'm not sure there is enough demand to warrant that feature) because I want to use Emby to also catalog some of the videos I have in online services such as Vudu, iTunes and Disney Movies Anywhere. I use the .hddvd.disc Media Stub (because I don't actually own any HDDVD's) for my online content, and then I Tag items according to the online provider (eg, Vudu, iTunes, DMA, etc.). Thus with the above feature request, I could have my items which are Tagged as Vudu give the custom message "Lauch Vudu to watch this item." One additional thought is that it might be nice to have a variable for the item Name (ie, {name}) so that we can include the Name of the movie, etc in the custom message. That's not a must-have though. (Edit) Related Feature Request: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/44012-emby-server-and-emby-theater-support-for-custom-media-stubs-andor-an-online-media-stubs-andor-filename-string-matching-for-external-player/ Thanks! 3. It would be great if Emby Theater had full support for the Xbox One Media Remote. Currently, it only has basic support so only the up, down, left, right, and OK buttons work.
  4. I don't know how much demand there might be for this, but thought I'd throw it out there. In my old, custom-built system I had a way that I could indicate that an "extra" (or subitem) could also appear in the main listing as it's own stand-alone item (with all of it's own metadata) (though I would indicate when viewing the details of that item in a stand-alone context that it was connected to it's parent item). The simplicity of how Extras work in Emby has definitely grown on me (it's very handy to just be able to drop stuff in an "extras" folder and have them handled automatically). However, I periodically have Extras that I both would like to appear as Extras for a given Movie, but which also are substantial enough to be present in the main listing of movies (for example, certain documentaries paired with a given movie DVD). It would be great if there were a checkbox to designate a given Extra could also appear independently (such that it would show up with it's own item listing, in addition to appearing as an Extra for it's parent). This is actually partly possible currently by adding an Extra to a Collection -- the Extra will show up in the Collection as a stand-alone item, including being able to browse to it's detail page (though, until we get metadata downloading, etc. for Extras there's not much to see: https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/43845-emby-server-emby-theater-support-nfo-files-and-automatic-metadata-lookup-for-extras/ ). This method kinda gets at what I'm aiming for, but I think I'd ultimately prefer the full version of what I'm asking for (including the Extra's detail page have an indicator of, and link back to the parent). One question though: Is what I've described as currently being possible with adding an Extra to a Collection a fluke (ie, an accidental feature), or can I count on it continuing to function that way? If I decide to make use of that functionality (eg, there are some items where it might be sufficient for me just to be able to add them to a Collection) I don't want that to then later go away because it was not something that was intended to work that way. 5. In addition to (but not contingent on) a related feature request ( https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/43845-emby-server-emby-theater-support-nfo-files-and-automatic-metadata-lookup-for-extras/ ), I recommend Emby Theater display the full Title, Duration and any other Metadata below the currently selected Extra using something along the lines of the UX pattern called "Thumbnail grid expanding preview". See the following for examples: https://tympanus.net/codrops/2013/03/19/thumbnail-grid-with-expanding-preview/ https://tympanus.net/Tutorials/ThumbnailGridExpandingPreview/ http://www.oriongunning.com/thumbnail-grid-expanding-preview/ http://www.oriongunning.com/demo/gridder/ While the current layout is clean and concise, it is not terribly helpful (in my opinion) in knowing what one is considering watching. As far as I can tell the only ways to get more details are to either start playing the item, or Ctrl-D to view Edit Info (neither of which is ideal when you're just browsing). I think that the "Thumbnail grid expanding preview" UX pattern is a decent route to go and in keeping with the general aesthetic of ET. Additionally, once the underlying code is built for this way of displaying data, there are potentially other uses for this UX pattern. One I can think of at the moment (which can be spun off to it's own feature request at some later point) would be to have items in "More Like This" respond this way, so that you get a mini-detailed view of some of the item metadata and then the option to click through to that item's page to actually play the item if desired. This would enable one to more quickly ascertain (without fully going to the item page) if they want to further explore that "More Like This" item or not. Regardless of additional uses (such as for "More Like This" items), I think that some sort of improvement is definitely needed for displaying the details of Extras, and the "Thumbnail grid expanding preview" UX pattern seems like a decent option to me. 6. From what I can tell currently videos within the "extras" folder do not get parsed automatically for online metadata, nor do any associated NFO files (from outside of Emby) get parsed. Following up on this post ( https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/40262-why-are-dvd-extras-limited-to-a-single-directory/page-2&do=findComment&comment=377431 ) I thought I'd go ahead and make a request here (and reiterate some of what I posted in the above thread). I'd be interested in NFO support for Extras, both support for writing to NFO, but also for reading an pre-existing NFO on import, like is done for regular items and automatically adding any available online metadata. However, given that the way extras are currently presented (ie, such that you don't really see/view much of their details), I can understand why there currently is not much support for additional details (and thus no NFO file support). Edit: Also, images named the same as a given extras video are ignored. It would be nice if these were picked up as well, like they are in non-extras contexts. Edit: An additional clarification: By "automatic" I do not mean that a external lookup should be automatically performed for every file in the Extras directory, as that would likely be a nightmare of mismatches. Rather, I just mean that if there is an NFO file that goes with a video file, and the NFO file contains metadata (such as IMDB ID, etc.) then an automatic lookup using that data should be performed in order to grab the corresponding metadata for that Extra. PC GAMES ON EMBY THEATER!!!

So here is what im triyng to do: Make external players work for pc games. ROMs already work by just selecting what emulator we want to use for certain kind of files like Dolphin for .wbfs files. Then i was thinking if we couldn't just do the same with pc games using scrips with AutoHotkey, the idea is simple: The script would make the role of the rom here, and the AutoHotkey would be the emulator.. So i made one script with the code: run D:\Games\Resident Evil 4\bin\bio4.exe Then rename it to .gbwin, on Windows i make .gbwin to always open with AutoHotkey so when i double click it, it opens Resident Evil 4 and closes itself all in background you dont see any command on cmd being executed on the screen. Now when i put it on Emby the server finds it ok, it show up on the Emby theater ok, the Play button is available ok, but when i click it nothing happens instead of a loading screen... I think this could really Works, should be a problem with the external players since not even my emulators work anymore on emby, always the endless loading. Its a problem with the external players or to use external players i need emby premiere? Could you guys test this, see if it works? Sorry for my english, BR here! huehue
  8. In addtion to things like Unwatched, Collections, Genres, Years, etc. I would find it nifty if there was a grouping for Length/Duration (Length might make the most sense, but I'm open to other words), perhaps by 15 minute increments? And adding in this sort of thing other places (eg, search filters, etc., whenever those types of things get implemented) would be useful. The use case for this is that I often only have a certain amount of time to watch something, and so I'll search (in my old, custom media setup) via time groupings for what I could watch within the time I have available. So I'm interested in any ways to achieve that easily within Emby Theater. Thanks for considering my request! 9. Is there a more up to date list of Hotkeys than the following post? https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/2142-emby-theater/page-25&do=findComment&comment=72843 At the moment I'm wondering if there is a Hotkey for initiating a Search. If there are hotkeys for things like toggling/cycling Subtitles/CC or cycling Audio Channels (eg, different languages) I'd be interested in knowing those as well. I might think of a few more later that'd be useful, but at the moment those are what I'm most interested in. Overall though everything works great with my default remote settings, which is very nice.
  10. This post (https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/35769-resume-is-not-working-with-mpc-hc-in-mbt/) got me thinking about VLC (my preferred player). I've already posted a Feature Request for a manual entry option (https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/43209-fr-option-for-external-players-to-prompt-for-stop-time/), which the good Emby folks hope to add in the future. But I have an idea for how we could partially automate this via a plugin, for users using VLC in particular. VLC has a HTTP Interface which can enable us to find out Duration (ie, total time of the currently playing item) and Elapsed time (ie, how much has been already played). I will paste an example of the XML output at the bottom of this post. We should be able to easily parse the <time> node to get the Elapsed time, and the <length> node to get the duration (both appear to be in Seconds). And then if that data has been stored in Emby for a given item, we can use the VLC Command Line --start-time=seconds to launch VLC, telling VLC to go to that point in the video. A significant caveat though is that if the user is using VLC to play a full DVD rip VIDEO_TS folder (which I am a big fan of, for the DVD menu support), then --start-time is likely to not produce the desired results (because DVD's vary in how they're authored, and so the time won't get applied to correct portion of the DVD. I think that in most cases it won't actually hurt anything, and perhaps in some cases the desired result will be achieved. But my thinking is that when clicking Play, ET can display some sort of message along the lines of "You stopped your video at ~34 minutes (out of 1 hour and 55 minutes total run time). Emby will attempt to resume at your stopping point, but you may have to manually go to the 34 minute mark (depending on the media format)." And then the user would click "Proceed" and VLC would launch. This way, they know where to fast forward (or jump ahead via chapters) if they're using a format (eg, VIDEO_TS folder rips) that doesn't lend itself to easy resuming. I am also exploring if there is any way to get the DVD "title" currently being played (note, this is not the movie title, but "title" as referring to the section within the DVD structure), but I'm not optimistic about being able to access that. If that is accessible, however, then it would actually be possible to construct a command line to resume the ripped DVD at the correct position, which would be rather nifty. I am a alright programmer (I work mostly with HTML, JavaScript, PHP, CSS/SCSS, and a little VBA and other assorted Windows-centric languages), but am brand new to Emby. If the above proposed plugin interests folks, is anyone interested in collaborating on bringing this about? I could likely handle any JavaScript-related elements of pulling the data from VLC (via the VLC HTTP Interface) and parsing the XML data, but I don't know anything (yet) about how to get that into the appropriate places within Emby so that Emby is storing the data. As a side note, I figure we'll poll the XML page periodically (eg, every 60 seconds, perhaps?), and I have some additional thoughts on underlying logic for how to do things (eg, we'll want to handle the fact that a VIDEO_TS DVD folder can have multiple "titles"/videos and so be careful we don't overwrite our Elapsed Time when the user is just in the DVD menu or something -- perhaps we'd prompt the user after they exit VLC as to whether they want to update their Resume Position with the new data or keep the old data [which we could display for comparison]?). Thoughts? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" standalone="yes" ?> <root> <fullscreen>false</fullscreen> <aspectratio>default</aspectratio> <audiodelay>0</audiodelay> <apiversion>3</apiversion> 11. I'm using Emby Theater for Windows Desktop (ie, not the Windows App), on Windows 10. Is it possible to customize the Skin, or create a custom Skin? At this stage I'm not wanting to do anything major (ie, I don't want to design a whole new skin), but I would love to be able to customize the display of Tags (ie, display them, and control where they are displayed), and perhaps some other things (eg, I might like to display some custom text based on a item having a certain Media Stub media flag). I did just notice that the Tags are displayed when viewing my library via the server browser interface, so hopefully those are coming in a similar way to ET eventually. I'm open to creating a Pull Request if someone will point me to the appropriate file(s) on GitHub. Thanks!
  12. Hey Guys, I am not sure if this just started happening or maybe I didn't notice it before, but my server seems to be transcoding the audio to stereo on any file that uses the DCA codec when played through emby theater on Xbox. When I check the server dashboard it says that it is direct playing but it shows the little line underneath that usually indicates transcoding. If I load the file into handbrake and recode it to AC3 the surround doesn't transcode. I would Hate to have to go through my entire collection recoding anything that has the DCA codec. Thanks in advance for your help guys...
  13. Hey all, so for some reason Emby (Kodi) isn't direct playing/streaming my blu-ray folders and is transcoding them instead. I've also tried the Windows Emby Theater app, which won't play blu-ray's at all (it just hangs at the spinner after selecting to play for 1 minute), but will play all of my other files. I've attached the ffmpeg log and a section of the server log, however before I attach the full server/kodi logs, is there anything I need to censor? 14. See attached images. Hard to explain in words, but it is almost like coding/formatting is messed up causing images to cover up navigation or the layout is wonky .
  15. Hi there... I am enjoying the emby experience.... Thank you. But I am not getting the full experience. I have the Kodi plugin, But i find it at times more work then it needs to be. I really like to have a fresh view of Emby. I have touched base with Emby Theater. I think its actually a pretty decent replacement. Its simple to the point. IT also seem to work great with the server with less fuss and muss. But I am not able to find an App for the android. Anywhere I can find this app? Anyway i can set this up on android minix player? I have seen some talk new themes or skins anything out there yet? Thanks Monkeyslapper

    Emby theater Skin Mockups

Figured id start a post for anyone that might want to make a new skin for emby theater in the future. These mockups were already posted in the emby theater thread, but figured id start with these and add more in the future. One of the reasons I love Kodi is all the different skins. Would be cool to have that with emby someday, skins to suite everyone's tastes. Id love to make some myself but I cant code for the life of me. So Ill stick to just drawing up some ideas for others. Mockup 1 ARRAY: An enhanced version of the default emby theater skin.
  17. For the past day now tv.emby.media will refuse to play any media prompting "Unlock this feature" and then continues to give a 1 minute sample. This happens on every browser and every local account that I have tried now, Also after restarting and subsequently updating to the latest available emby version for FreeBSD (Version 3.0.8300.0) has made no difference. However playback is fine from app.emby.media and the android + androidTV apps I currently have an active emby premiere subscription (You are on the Monthly subscription plan. It will expire 2016-11-12) Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Playback issue with subtitles

Hello everyone First of all: thanks for such an amazing media player like emby theater. On my system it runs much better and more stable than plex for playback my movies. But i noticed one big problem: Yesterday i started the new star wars movie and everything just worked fine. I added german subtitles and this also worked without any problem. After that i closed the movie and reopened it. Now emby theater couldnt run the movie smooth. It really lags all the time. When i switch off the subtitles and reactivate them everything works just fine again. The movie just won't start properly with activated subtitles. Anyone else also had this issue? Btw: When i choose the audio language within the movie, it just shows me multiple "Surround 5.1" tracks but no language is shown? This is really annoying when you have more languages. Thanks for the help
  19. After installing the following update: Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB3194496) The loopback manager comes up empty and Neither emby theater or the theater app will work.
  20. I have posted several times on some issues with LiveTV and the FIRETV emby app using the hdhomerun extend (new version latest firmware beta3 now and latest emby server Version 3.1.154.0 beta). While I believe most of my issues are being caused by poor signal quality and how ffmpeg processes it I decided to install the latest emby theater on my windows 8.1 pc and immediately noticed it played video better than my tv tuner and emby app for firetv. I can play video on channels the tv wont play or tune at all (sound is another issue). So my question is why can emby theater play the video stream better than the emby firetv app and are their further things I can do now to improve the quality of the firetv livetv video experience (maybe changing out the player on the firetv or somehow getting logs from emby theater and comparing them to the firetv logs - just not sure how to do this in emby theater). Again help is much appreciated and thanks in advance.
  21. After updating the Emby Theater App on the Xbox One I have zero audio (Live TV, all of my Library's or the Trailers plugin). I have re-downloaded and uninstalled Emby from the Xbox store and tried several restarts but get the same results. I can confirm that everything works on Firefox, Windows 10 Theater App, and the iPhone Emby App. Log

    Emby Theater won't play videos

I just upgraded to Windows 10 version 14343.187. I've been running Emby Theater on this machine for quite a while even after I originally upgraded to Win 10 about 4 months ago. No problems, I've kept up with the new versions of theater as they were available. After upgrading to the new Win Version14343.187 Emby Theater no longer works. It will not play any videos. The icon just spins. I've tried several different video formats and different files. Uninstalled and reinstalled theater nothing works. I also tried the App in the App Store and of course it won't connect to my server but I understand from reading prior post you guys are already aware of that and are addressing the problem. Theater is an awesome app would like to continue using it any help would be appreciated. My theater logs are attached......theater-63609470102.txt,theater-63609472749.txt

  25. Hello, I recently bought an Emby Premiere subscription. I upload some music and movies with the emby server, When I tried to use the emby theater to hear the music I uploaded it wold not connect to the server. I set up a guest account with another email address and clicked on the link that came in the email. My emby theater is on a separate window 10 laptop. I did everything including typing in the key for the emby prememere account. One thing though. When I put the emby theater on the coputer with the emby server where I have all my file stored on my hard disk it connect to the server and I can play music. Please help
