I seen a number of topics on this series with Emby. My issue is not quite the same as others so I decided to make another topic on it. I am a long time Plex user and recently I have not been happy with Plex and the current direction of the company. I have a massive amount of media I'm transitioning over from Plex. I am running on: Unraid Current Ver. 128GB Ram 1060 Super transcoding. I am new to Emby and I might not have the naming system down yet. Below are images that show my issue, this works prefectly on Plex. For some reason Season 1 has the special episode in season 1 and in specials, it is also moving most of season 2 into season one and in an incorrect order. I've done all I can think of to make this series to work correctly but no go. Any Emby pros on that can give this noob some direction? Thanks!

Wann kommt endlich die Emby App für Samsung Tizen TV für Deutschland / Schweiz /Österreich ? Es ist sehr mühsam die App jeden Monat neu zu Installieren!!! Klar ist das eine doofe Restriktion von Samsung für externe Apps wo Emby nichts dafür kann, aber es müsste mit Samsung eine Lösung gefunden werden ! Also, haut hier in die Tasten und schreibt eure Meinung dazu, dammit sich endlich was bewegt........

UPDATE: Seems to be broken by Python3.11. I installed it on my 4th box that I have running upstream packages, and 3.11 hoses it totally. Investigating. Well, I used to post my updates in my original thread, but I guess after 5 years I can no longer edit the first post with the latest details. So here we go. A new app, a new thread. 4.12 is a MAJOR ground-up overhaul of the EmbyUpdate app for Linux. I hope I didn't just break a bunch of people though. It was a monster task to get it to self-auto-update from the old app to the new app. I tested every way I could imagine, but things never go as planned out in the wild. Why I suppose Luke and company haven't got this as a built-in feature yet. If I broke you, I'm sorry. I did my best. But I feel the new architecture is here to stay. Future updates should be smooth, finally. But enough of that. On to the shiny. EmbyUpdate GitHub <== You install it here Note: Now requires Python 3.7+. Current development is on 3.9 and 3.10 but only 3.7 is required. EMBY Server auto-update You can use the app to install Emby for the first time or to keep your current server updated to the latest and greatest. When you first run the script it guides you through an interactive configuration to set it up just how you want. You can rerun the wizard at any time, or change any settings through command line arguments. You can set it up, and just run it when you want to check for updates. But what it was really created for was to run from CRON or SYSTEMD on a schedule to do all the work for you in the background. I've had it running for over 5 years, and never missed an update! Once it's set up, it just works. You choose during setup if you want Stable releases or Beta releases. From there, I'll keep you running on the latest. SELF AUTO-UPDATE Struggled for many years trying to figure out how to update a Python script in place. Old versions would download the new code, but keep running on the old code till that run was done. It wouldn't run the new code till the next time the app started. Now, for every run, it will check for self-updates, download one if there is one, install the update over its current code, and then restart itself to run with the new code. This is the first thing it does, so it's always running on the latest release. But I don't traditionally have a lot of those. Because, well, even the earliest releases would still work if they didn't keep messing with Python. But as Emby changes, and as Python marches on, I'll keep moving along with them. In 5 years I've only broken people once. And that was because of trying to merge a pull request from another user and not understanding fully how GitHub worked. I wanted SOME of his updates, but I got ALL of them. Sigh... Guess that's how you learn. Some cool new features: * If it can reach your Emby Server instance (by default it tries the standard port 8086 on localhost) it will pull the version from it, so it can know, right off the bat, if an update is needed. Use different ports? Use a different address? No prob, it will start a wizard to find out how to reach the server. Don't want to mess with it? You can turn that feature off, it'll never ask again or complain one bit. New install of Emby? You can just skip it. Next time it runs it'll try again. It doesn't need this to operate, but it helps it to keep track. In case you updated outside the app or did something weird. I'll work on a future update to give it access to more through the API if you give it login credentials. Maybe it can check if anyone is watching anything, and hold off until no one is streaming or logged into the server. It'll just keep trying till it finds the server free. How cool would that be? * It logs all self and Emby update history. So you can see what and when. Currently, you have to look in the DB with something like DBeaver, but finishing out that interface is high on the to-do list. I'll have that in a few weeks or less. Most of the config items are viewable/updateable through command-line arguments already. Just need to add views for the history databases. * Want to switch from Stable to Beta, or Beta to Stable? No prob. Just run the config updater and change what you want it to be. The app will switch you. Of course, use it at your own risk. Just like you would doing it manually, things can go wrong swapping back and forth. But you CAN. * I have lots of new features in mind. From email updates to a GUI for the desktop people. Course knowing my luck, just as I get all that written Luke will put auto-update into the Linux versions. I haven't had to worry about keeping up to date for years and years. Now you can not worry either! I run my Emby on a headless server in a storage closet-turned-server room. It's great not having to go jump through hoops every time Emby says there's an update! I haven't even seen that message in years!

Hello, For transparency, I have posted this issue on the Terra-Master forum also. Terra-Master Forum post link I am hoping someone can help me out. I tried to update my Emby server from 4.6 to the latest version 4.7.11.0. However the app failed to update and now it has disappeared on my TOS desktop and I cannot update or reinstall the application. The error message I receive is "Operation Failed!". Now my Emby server is down. Can someone guide me on how to update or if the worse come to the worse at least re-install the application please? My TOS version and TNAS details are: Terra-Master F4-210 4-bay ARM based TOS version: 4.2.31-2203011629

Salve mi piacerebbe sapere se è possibile con emby essere visti sulle smart v. Ho provato ma oltre a vedersi il server quando voglio vedere le tv in diretta vedo solo uno schermo nero. Grazie

Hi ich hab einen Emby Server auf meinem DS218+ laufen und würde ihn endlich gerne von außerhalb erreichbar machen und auch mit SSL. Mein Syno ist bereits von außen über eine Synology DDNS erreichbar, wie auch die VS, die ja durch den Emby Server ersetzt werden soll. Doch leider kann ich trotz sämtlichen Tutorials den Emby nicht mal über HTTP über meine Domain von außerhalb oder auch innerhalb erreichen.. Getestet hab ich dies mit der aktuellen Androide-App von Emby (Außerhalb wie auch innerhalb des eigenen Netzes). Zudem kann ich aus irgendeinem Grund den Zertifikatspfad auch nicht angeben, bzw. der Emby Server akzeptiert den Pfad nicht, egal wie ich ihn schreibe. Und über die Lupe verschwindet jedes Mal die Ordnerstruktur, sobald ich in einen zweiten Ordner gehe.. (Siehe Bilder) Oder benötige ich damit dies überhaupt funktioniert Emby Primere???? Bin langsam ziemlich ratlos.. embyserver.txt

Is that the only reason ? JF for AndroidTV seems to understand the requirement nicely .. The more I use the JF for AndroidTV - the more I like it - being honest here, I like it more than the Emby AndroidTV App (it is modern looking functional version of that App..) Putting all the configuration/preferences in the proper Android TV side bars is so nice .. it all integrates beautifully .. .. one of my primary reasons for not even giving the Android client a fair test is this screen below - it's just ugly and unfinished, the episode thumbnail is not even centered in the white background ... If you need to do vertical scrolling, then do what AndroidTV did and just highlight the area BORDER (in grey/low intensity white) .. Although I actually much prefer how JF are doing it (Horizontal Scrolling - to match the rest of the App.. and this makes much better use of the screen estate for the highlighted option ..) anyway - sorry, way off topic .. back to Refresh Rate / Resolution switching - sorry !

I just bought Ember for Emby from the Microsoft store and it shows the purple splash screen then closes, several seconds after opening it. I am running it on the same computer I have my Emby server running. I've tried repairing it, resetting, and uninstalling and reinstalling which did not resolve its behaviour. Any ideas why it is doing this. My server works fine from Edge or Chrome prowsers and from my android app on my phone. ???

Se trata de cambiar el favicon.ico, pero principalmente de cambiar el título "Emby", esto debido a que hay muchos usuarios reportando o preguntando como se hace esto, y la verdad hay varias soluciones en la comunidad, pero practicamente a todas les falta siempre algún detalle. Por este motivo les traigo la solución definitiva y la que estoy utilizando actualmente. Lo más sencillo primero, Cambiar favicon.ico Lógicamente lo primero es tener nuestro nuevo ícono a mano. (extensión .ico) Bien copiamos nuestro nuevo favicon.ico, y nos vamos al directorio /system/dashboard-ui/ allí damos clic derecho Pegar nos pedirá confirmación para reescribir, damos Sí. Cambiar el título "Emby" por el nombre de nuestro servicio o servidor ejemplo "Server-multimedia" Lo primero que tienes que tener en cuenta es que necesitas editar 3 archivos y dentro de cada uno de ellos, debes buscar la palabra Emby varias veces, yo te indido... Nota: Realizar una salva de cada archivo que edites por si te equivocas, volver al original. 1er archivo a editar: /system/dashboard-ui/index.html dentro de este archivo index.html debemos buscar la línea: <meta name="application-name" content="Emby"> y reemplazarla por: (Server-Multimedia es el nombre que quieres poner) <meta name="application-name" content="Server-Multimedia"> Buscamos la línea: <meta property="og:title" content="Emby"> y la reemplazamos por: <meta property="og:title" content="Server-Multimedia"> Buscamos la línea: <meta property="og:site_name" content="Emby"> y la reemplazamos por: <meta property="og:site_name" content="Server-Multimedia"> Por último buscamos la línea: <title>Emby</title> y la reemplazamos por: <title>Server-Multimedia</title> Guardamos los cambios. 2do archivo a editar: /system/dashboard-ui/manifest.json Buscamos la línea: "name": "Emby", y la reemplazamos por: "name": "Server-Multimedia", Buscamos la línea: "short_name": "Emby", y la reemplazamos por: "short_name": "Server-Multimedia", Guardamos los cambios. 3er archivo a editar: /system/dashboard-ui/modules/appheader.js Buscamos el parámetro: document.title="Emby"}, y lo reemplazamos por: document.title="Server-Multimedia"}, Hay que tener cuidado con este archivo appheader.js debido a que no es por líneas sino que parece todo un párrafo, por eso debemos buscar bien el texto citado. Guardamos los cambios. En la mayoría de los casos debes, limpiar los datos del sitio en el navegador que usas, y reiniciar el servidor Emby. Al actualizar de versión, debemos realizar nuevamente los pasos, y es posible que cambien las ubicaciones o nombres de los archivos editados. (ya ha sucedido) Saludos y espero les resulte útil. hi,5-6 years off emby user,i have a problem,i changed isp for better speed cause in my area we dont have fiber yet,i have a router with 4g-5g sim card connection,for my bad they dont allowe some ports ,its locked via isp and emby cant work from outside home,i tried plex and for my suprise it work with indirect connection and auto port map,how can i do this to emby?

My computer (the movie server with Emby) is connected to my router. My TV is on the other side of the house, and it's connected to a router extender, which is connected to the router for my PC. Hope that makes sense... When I open Emby on my TV, it connects to the PC without using the internet, but it still asks me to purchase Emby when I try to watch anything. Is this normal? I have another TV connected directly to my router, and it doesn't require payment.

Hi All, so, I have Emby for several years, after I head Plex for some time before then. In another thread here someone asked me if I used Sonarr and Radarr... I had no idea then what they were. So I first peeked at it, then looked at it, then I felt overwhelmed by what it all requires. I sidelined it for several months, before I thought to try it. Again, I was dumb-struck by what it all requires (indexers for example). I did have Emby, and I like that it recognized my movies even though my naming scheme was nothing like what Emby recommends (> Movies , > TV-Series). Mine is, more or less, movies/<year YYYY>/<movie name>.(<year YYYY>).some.other.info.like.res.or.language/<movie name>.some.other.info.like.res.or.language.<ext> TV shows are much more in disarray. So I installed Radarr, after I had decided to use debian as base-OS for the VM. And I thought Radarr would help me with my movies. Well, I had to correct my opinion really quick, I don't think it does help. Not with movies I already have. It might help with new movies, but I does have to test that. Not to get stuck on a specific problem, I added Sonarr. Then I understood, I will not get very far without an Indexer. So, I looked into NZBHydra2. I did like the looks of it, but then I decided to use Prowlarr nonetheless (at this point I purged this VM and started a new one from scratch, start from square one). I was lucky to get into drunkenslug for free, added Binsearch (free), looking at nzbplanet right now. I added Whisparr as last one of the Servarr package, I am not sure I need the others. I then added a headless qBit, and I started using it, just to test it. After some issues with it at first, I am quite fond of it now. As part of my DLNA troubleshooting, I had set up another VM along the way with Jellyfin that serves the same movies as Emby. Lastly, I added SABnzb. I had an Eweka subscription for some time, but it was dormant. I have to say I am used to download usenet article by article, and have some windows tool assemble it all. If the tool fails, I just kick the entire download. But I basically did not use nzb-files. That was years ago. (I first downloaded from the usenet in the first haf of the nineties,) Planned, but not implemented, it JD2. I have to say that I am not done at all. Populating Prowlarr with indexers helped to get all the other populated as well. So, without adding any connections or dataflow, this is my setup: I must admit I have not used the whole "Arr-"chitecture yet. Not once. I usually look at what is "hot" and "Top" on the trackers, I look at IMDB for similar movies to one I like or movies from an actor I like. How do I get Radarr or Sonarr to match my path-Setup: Radarr: Year/Movie Name (Year)/Movie file.ext Sonarr: Series Name/Season #/Series Name E##S##.<episode name if known>.ext Whisparr: <Genre or Keyword>/Movie Name (Year)/Movie file.ext How do I get Radarr to help my identify what is hot on a tracker? How do I get qBit not to lose track of where the data goes after it was completely downloaded? How do I get Sonarr prefer full seasons over single episodes? Has anyone else here a similar software-setup and perfected all the settings and the "inter-software-communication"? Can you help me with my issues? I would love to hear from others! Cheers, Roodee

Emby Live TV - Disable Record Prompt Hi everyone and the Emby Team. First, thanks so much for all of your hard work and effort on the Emby product - it is fantastic and has come a long way. I have been a supporter since the Media Browser days, 2013 and on wards! Secondly, I am using the Emby Live TV feature and have noticed the 'Record Prompt' appears when I click on any of the channels to watch a live TV session. Is there any way to by-pass this or to turn it off completely? I do not need to record any sessions. Muy buenas chicos! Os explico un poco los problemillas que tengo con las colecciones, espero que me podáis echar un cable: Intento agrupar películas por colecciones por ejemplo el Universo Cinematografico de Marvel y las pongo ahí pero Emby paralelamente me crea otras colecciones aparte como la de Los Vengadores o Thor con sus respectivas películas en el interior cuando yo solo quiero la que cree yo que era la que contenia todas las de Marvel. Me deja borrarlas las colecciones que me crea paralelamente pero al cabo de un rato se me vuelven a crear solas. Tambien me pasa con Aladdin por ejemplo, las tengo en mi coleccion de Disney pero tambien se me crea una que pone "Aladdin Collection" cuando solo quiero la mia de Disney. Tambien para acabar cuando voy a Kodi y accedo a mi bibliotreca de Emby hay colecciones que me aparecen y otras que no ¿Alguna idea de como puedo solucionar estos temas? Mil gracias y un saludo.

Hi, Multiple versions of movies is not working for me. Both versions appear in the drop down but both versions are pointing to the same file (Kingdom of Heaven.mkv) under path in Metadata, so I can only play one version. I can't play the Directors Cut. Below is how the movie folder is setup: The same is happening for all other multi version movies.

Hi Lads, I've installed the plugin and it works fine but I don't find the radio I've got in the TuneIn website/app. I tried to search by "search tab" but i didn't find the station and i tried also to change location. No way. Anyway, I tried putting my user and latlong in the tab and searching folder to folder my favorite station with no result. Is there any solution to "import" the urls/fav from TuneIn web/app? Hello, can you please clarify if there is more than one codebase active for Emby Server? Or if it is true that the work done in https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby has been moved / continued to/in https://github.com/MediaBrowser/Emby.Releases/releases ? This request is to get clarity about the product(s). While reviewing this security advisory: https://securitylab.github.com/advisories/GHSL-2021-051-emby it showed up, that the NVD has set this CPE cpe:2.3:a:emby:emby.releases, while other existing CVEs have cpe:2.3:a:emby:emby for the server. According to NVD this is due to the assumption, that different codebases / products might exist. Can you please share some insights on this topic? Thank you in advance Oliver

The audio in the lg smart tv emby app is inverted. By default it is Spanish but the audio is heard in English and when you switch to English you hear Spanish, only happens in the LG smart tv app on PC and mobile I have no problems. In the image to the right first is the English audio and then the Spanish is the one that gives problems all that have that order give problems. In the image on the left I do not have problems the order is Spanish first and then English.

Dear all, I'm a newbie on Truenas scale. I used to use Emby server on Windows platform without any issue. I installed a new server with TrueNAS-SCALE-22.02.4 and emby application. I did the initial setup, i think with success, because the content of my library stored on a dedicated Dataset was identified and stored in the Emby server database. I can then play and search content in my library from any Emby client without trouble. BUT : there is no way for my emby server setup to deal with any new content stored in my dedicated Dataset after that first scan. New folders under that dataset or even only new files stored in a well recognized folder on the first scan is ignored, even after manual library refresh. I don't know what to do. My "volume dataset system" for the video content is named : BIBLIOTHEQUE-01 and has a dataset under it named SERIES My emby server application is configured with "Emby Server Host Path Volume" to /SERIES and "Host Path" to /mnt/BIBLIOTHEQUE-01/SERIES. My emby server folder configuration is set to : /SERIES Many thanks for your kind help. Stephane.

Hello, im using a Enigma2 receiver with OpenATV 7.x. I created a *.m3u8 from the OpenWebIF-Plugin. (see screenshot) If i copy the m3u8 file to my Synology DS720+ and add it in Emby as a M3U-Tuner, i can´t see any channels. On my Windows 11 Computer with e.g. VLCplayer its working just fine. Can someone tell me, what am I doing wrong? Thanks

Hi Uninstall Xml TV plugin. i had the same problem. it looks like the plugin is giving the problem. When you uninstall it you will not have epg( Tv Guide working) or images. Hope that it will be fix soon. Best Regards

Bonjour à tous, Je viens de découvrir grâce à Emby les fichiers "*.strm". Une fonction qui peut être extrêmement pratique ! J'ai fais quelques essais en mettant des vidéos sur Uptobox, j'ai ensuite copier le lien de téléchargement pour créer mon ficher .strm. La démarche fonctionne très bien et Emby lit correctement le film sur TV, smartphone et navigateur. Cependant Emby est installer sur un NAS synology DS 720+ et lorsque je lance un film il transcode avec un cpu de 90%... Est-il possible de récupérer uniquement le liens de streaming? Avez-vous une solution pour éviter le transcodage? D'avance merci pour votre aide
