Hi, I am not a developer and not a real up to date techy. My interest is to standardise on MediaBrowser throughout my home as the home entertainment hub. However, I cannot find a solution to the current problem of being unable to play through MediaBrowser to my Sony KDL-40EX403, so I have spent a few hours trying to understand what is happening and have provided some info, which I hope will enable you to find out why it is not working. I have also provided some info from Serviio, which is my current method of playing to the Sony. So first of all I tried to understand with Device Spy what protocols are supported by MediaBrowser and my Sony. Device Spy MediaBrowser.pdf Device Spy Bravia KDL40EX403.pdf Then I ran Wireshark and extracted what looks like the relevant packets, packet 205 flags the 500 error from the Sony as a result of a UPnP action to GetVolume failing. Then at packet 318 MediaBrowser attempts a POST to the Sony AVControl with a GetPosition, see attached. (Won't allow me to upload) So I used Device Spy again and extracted the following from my Sony. Device Spy Invoke AVTransport GetPosition.pdf My question is this, where does the following come from? protocolInfo="http-get:*:video/mp2t:DLNA.ORG_PN=MPEG_PS_NTSC;DLNA.ORG_OP=01;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01D00000000000000000000000000000"> This protocol/mime type of "video/mp2t" appears nowhere in the list of protocols extracted from either my Sony or MediaBrowser, so I should assume it is unsupported and therefore explains why MediaBrowser console thinks it is streaming yet the Sony although appearing to start then goes to a black screen. It is also not part of the Sony 2010 profile and I even changed the profile to reflect the matches I found in the initial 2 documents. So no matter what I do I always come back to this strange mime type of "video/mp2t". By comparison after watching, successfully another film through Serviio, I repeated the Device Spy Invoke and attach the following if it is of interest. Device Spy Invoke Serviio Bravia.pdf If you need any further info then please let me know as I can repeat and get further info if you point me in the right direction. Many thanks Sorry forgot to mention the two files being played, "10 Rillington Place" is in ts format, MPEG2Video and MP3 & MP2 audio codec and the Serviio file was "The Debt", again in ts format, MPEG2Video and MP2 audio codec.

I'm having trouble playing video files with a secondary audio track. When streaming the file (so not transcoding), the player will always select the default audio track regardless of other settings (like audio language preference of profile) and I changing the language in the remote has no effect. The playing device is a 2011 Netcast LG TV, and I'm running Emby Server Version 3.0.6070.0 on Windows 10. I found this thread that mentions that this issue is resolved. Am I missing something, or is it that my TV is just too old to support this? I have attached the log file. Also, a very minor issue, something I noticed when trying to find the log file, I am no longer able to select any text of Emby in the browser (using Firefox). It would've been easier to be able to copy paste the path to the log files, but I had to do this via "inspect element". I am able to select everything in the left hand menu, though. Just nothing in the main frame is selectable. Any help would be greatly appreciated, even if it is just a conformation that I'm out of luck EDIT: I forgot to add that I use an edited DLNA profile of the one I found here. In this profile the video audio codecs are included in the "Codecs" section with the condition "AudioChannels" (see screenshot below). I assume this means that Emby should switch to transcoding when trying to switch audio channels, but this is not something I see as an option when adding new codecs manually. 20160824_Emby_Log_Exceprt.txt

I'm facing the infamous "this filetype is not supported" message when trying to play certain files over DLNA. Those certain files appear as transcoding containers in .ts format. As per other similar threads, I tried upping the VideoLevel value in the dlna profile to 51, and also upping max streaming bitrate, but nothing seems to be working. Particular tv should be able to play all the files present natively. Tv model is 2015 samsung JU7500. Attaching logs right after starting the server and trying to play a problematic video. Note that the transcoding seems to be working just fine on server side. server log (mind the exceptions related to the fact server is not connected to the internet) transcoding log profile screenshot of a sample problematic media data Application version: 3.0.5972.0 Also, for what it's worth, the emby is being run from a docker container on an unRAID server.

What ports need to be opened for the DLNA discovery and streaming to work? PS - I guess a secondary question would be work ports in general does Emby need opened to be fully functional?

Hello, I've noticed that after updating Mono to new stable 4.4.0 I can't play DLNA properly. After some investigation... I found in log that was something related to PlayTo feature (being able to control device via DLNA). After disabling PlayTo, everything works fine. Here is the log. please take a look around time 20:25:50 ps: It is 10% possible that Mono is not the sole cause... because I've also been reinstalling some packages manually (Python-related)... Just informing...

Hallo, I have another Problem with emby - DLNA Server. My Setup is OMV with Emby plugin. In Emby I have configured DLNA which is working great except the problem here: http://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/35731-transcode-photo-resolution/ However, my second problem is that DLNA is not starting up after wake from hibernate. It seems to be connected to Internet Connection which is not immediately available after hibernate. First of all hello to you all! I am new to emby, and so far I really like it. The reason I need a better media center solution is our son I have a problem when trying to access with our DLNA TV, a LG 32LV5500-ZC (it is a little bit old, I think from 2011, but OK). I have installed it on my PC, the operating system is Arch Linux. The server version is Version 3.0.5882.0. When there is no media library created in emby, I can access with the TV, and an empty folder is shown. When I open up the emby app on the iPad, I can access the share and stream a movie. What could be the problem? Do I need a profile for the LG TV? Do I need to make a path substitution? There is already Samba installed on the PC, and other clients can access to this share. If it is not possible that it works with our LG TV, would a Chromecast help - and to use emby via Chromecast? Thanks for help or hints!

Hi, Need your assistance to look thru the following transcoding logs. The first file is a MKV file and i have no idea why it is transcoding , i have also attached my tv dlna profile for reference in case it's due to some error in the profile The second file i was having issues with is a HEVC X265 file and has anyone got any idea on how i can include HEVC x265 support into the DLNA profile. I have been getting errors when i try to edit the profile and include hevc x265. The LG TV i have definitely supports hevc x265 playback. Thank you and a Happy New Year to everyone. LG Smart+ TV.xml

Hi, Since the update to 3.0.5871 (I've tried the betas too) I can no longer use the android app, nor the web client to play media to my LG TV. The app and web offers the TV as a target but pressing the green play arrow button has no effect at all. In fact, even using the web client, sometimes the play button doesn't even appear. Happy to post screenshots and logs, just wanted to see if others are experiencing the same issue? Steve.

I'm having a problem with the Emby DLNA server. Emby server Version 3.0.5781.2 is installed on my PC running Windows 7 Pro. I use Kodi with the Emby plugin on this PC and it works perfectly. Also have no problem with Kodi and the Emby plugin on my laptop. Installed the Emby app on my android phone and that works perfectly too. However, I cannot see the Emby server on either of my TVs or my PS3. I've tried editing the profiles to add their serial numbers for identification. Also tried changing a number of settings to try figure out what the problem is. Searched the forums and google for help ... But no matter what i try it just doesn't seem to work These are the devices in my network: 192.168.1.1 router 192.168.1.3 PC running Emby and Kodi 192.168.1.4 Laptop running Kodi 192.168.1.5 Xperia Z3 running Emby android app 192.168.1.6 LG Smart TV 192.168.1.7 PS3 192.168.1.8 Samsung TV I've attached the log file with DLNA debugging enabled. Hallo, I'm new to Emby & DLNA. I just installed OMV and Emby. I enabled DLNA in emby to browse my photo library on new Samsung J Series. However, sometimes and especially for big/high resolution jpg photos (>5MB) I get errors on Samsung TV, e.g. "File format not supported" or ""check network connection". If I reload picture in Samsung TV everything is working fine. Is it possible to transcode pictures to Samsung TV to lower resolution/file size? How can I do that in emby settings? Many thanks in advance DRS

Hello everybody. I would like to make a suggestion that at the same time is a doubt. Who/what determines if a client/device can sort a music library by genre ? The Server or the Client ? I am finding conflicting info on this topic and cannot get this to work. My Setup: MB3 Profile MYMUSIC linked to library Music Bubbleupnp on tablet as renderer Folder structure: \\Music\ Artist - Album\ Artist - Song Title.mp3 Tags: Artist, Song Title, Year, Genre, Album, Track, Album Artist The MB3 library viewer allows genre sorting, but bubble does not. I am not sure if this is Bubble issue but I have seen screenshots of the app sorting by genre. Thanks

Hi, I've been trying to watch various shows I have with embedded subtitles through VLC and BubbleUPNP via DLNA. Subtitles and dual audio options are unavailable through both options. Any tips? Is it a bug? I can take screenshots as necessary.

Good afternoon, As the title says it's a pretty straightforward issue that as far as I can tell is just aesthetic and doesn't actually impact anything, I've just been trying to get rid of it myself for some time and thought I'd see if this is anything anyone else has run into in the past. Emby shows up twice on my LG TV as a DLNA source. Both work perfectly, not sure why there are two, but they are identical. If I had content, it shows up in both. I believe this happened when I updated Emby a couple of versions ago. My theory is that I did not shut down the server before updating, which may have left the old one somehow running the background? Is there a way to track down and eliminate the old one without causing issues with the up to date version, or is there something else that could be causing this. Let me know what logs I can provide to help identify the issue, I'm not really sure how to get them since I started hosting the server on my QNAP NAS instead of my Windows PC, but I'm sure I can figure it out. Thanks!

Evening all, I'm basically looking for an answer to the title - Direct play XviD and transcode DivX. Possible? It seems I'm only allowed to specify "mpeg4" in the DLNA profiles so my server has to unnecessarily transcode Xvid videos. If this isn't possible, could I request that this be something to consider in a future release? I'm running version 3.0.5821.0 on Windows. Thanks very much!

I am a new user and was told I could use emby as a way to play my music on my Yamaha Receiver. I did a clean install yesterday and added a few folders of media. I have an RX-A2050 and emby sees the receiver. When I try to see emby from the receiver I don't see any media server called emby. I see my windows media player and that is it. I went through the setup and all config screens and did not see anything. What am I missing??? Thanks for any help.

I'm trying to understand how I can modify the profile for my old Hp x280n MCE extender as a dlna player. How can I identify it in the logs? Do the profiles only apply to "Play To" targets, or do they also come into effect when playing directly from the device? The attached log is my attempt to stream the movies 300 and Animal House right after startup. The device's local ip is 192.168.1.130. Thanks for the help. CFC server-63594792227.txt

Hi, I used for months Emby server (3.0.58xxx) on my Windows 10 PC. It detected my DLNA renderers perfectly (Samsung TV, Freebox Player and Marantz-CR610) and I can play my music on any of them by the "Play to" button. Today I have reactivated the automatique Emby server updates and I get the 3.0.5911.0 version. With this version, the "Play to" list only shows "My device", all my DLNA rendrers have disapeared. I've tried to restart my three devices, but still nothing in the "Play to" list... Where can I download an earlier version of Emby server (3.0.58xxx) to use my renderers as I used to until today? Thanks. J-C

Since a few days ago my Samsung Smart TVs (2 in total) are no longer able to find any media on Emby. They do find the Emby server fine but claim that there are no videos/photos/etc. stored on it. I also have a Sony smart TV which is working fine. I have checked the log files and found the info below. I believe this might be relevant because the TV is called '[TV]Vesta' so it seems to fail at updating something. What can I do to make my Samsung TVs find the media on Emby again. Just for the record, both TVs have worked with Emby for months. They stopped working a few days ago. 2016-02-27 14:46:30.4169 Info HttpServer: HTTP GET http://192.168.178.37:8096/dlna/c3935fd57afa3f2d582f256e21d0cbd3/icons/logo120.png. Hi all, I've spent many time searching on the web for an answer to my problem and found nothing. Obviously, it is not a bug in Emby so I won't open a bug report. The facts : - I've installed Emby Server on a Windows 10 PC and it worked flawlessly with the browser client for a couple of hours, especially the "Play To" on dlna devices (Samsung Smart TV and Yamaha Amp, both connected to network) - For easier machine uptime, I've installed Emby Server on another Windows 10 (x64 family) PC which is directly connected to TV and amp - When installed, Emby web didn't show my TV and my amp in Play To but found others applications like Kodi - I made a new fresh install of Windows 10 on the machine. Get avast, Chrome and Emby server running : TV and amp were back in Play to (hurrah !) - After doing more software installations on this PC, TV and amp vanished again from play to (argh !) What I tried : - Checked all network config : no problem (and indeed W10 can access and cas to these devices) - Unplugged and plugged the devices and reboot computer - Reinstalled again W10 from scratch (3 times) but never get back my devices in Play to - Installed other DLNA chrome apps for testing : they can't detect these two devices too - All other castable devices are OK from this computer (e.g. Kodi or other browers) - TV and amp can access Emby Server by DLNA from their side - TV and amp are visible on network and I can cast on them from the culprit computer with W10 self play to (from edge or WM) - Installed again Emby on the first computer : devices are invisible The Emby Logs don't say anything about Play to after enabling full debug. I've tried many, many, many things (disabling firewall and antivirus, running the whole with admin rights, plug and unplug devices...) but it still looks like Windows is preventing Emby Server or Chrome from detecting these two devices despite IT can see them. It's really frustrating and I clearly missing something but what ?. Hope someone will have some ideas or the key to this problem
