Hi, I have been using Emby for several years now. Currently used on 2 different systems (Linux and Windows). The issue I have exist on both systems and therefore not specifically related to either Linux or Windows and have been there for very long time. The only common part is that the issue seems to be related to DLNA. The issue: I start streaming a radio channel (TuneIn) via DLNA, at some point it will stop playing. If I start the radio channel again it will stream the exact same music again. The attached logs is for the issue with 22 minutes of streaming music. When I have this issue I have tried to stream the same radio channel to my PC using webbrowser and there it works while my DLNA unit still plays the old stream. Logs: EmbyLog_20170418: Approx 16:53:00 I start the radio channel and it stops by it self after approx 22 minutes. After a few minutes I try to start the radio channel again but notice that it is the same music playing. EmbyLog_20170419: Approx 07:42:14 I start the radio channel again and it stills plays the same as it played yesterday. EmbyStream_20170418: The stream it always start if I try to play the specific radio channel on my DLNA unit, if I choose another radio channel this plays correctly. Another issue but might be related: Sometimes when I stream my music to DLNA unit (FLAC, WMA), especially transcoded music, sometimes the track is played other times it is skipped, seems like Emby was unable to transcoded the track. My systems: System 1: Ubuntu server 14.04 + Denon HEOS HomeCinema. System 2: Intel NUC Windows 10 + Sony SRS-X77 Best regards Nicolai EmbyLog_20170418.txt EmbyLog_20170419.txt EmbyStream_20170418.txt

I am having a couple of issues 1. I have a schedules direct account and I am trying to load in emby but with little success of the getting the guide to actually show for my channels. 2. I have enabled the DLNA option but I cannot see the server on any of my TV's in my house. There are other issues but these two are the most pressing for now. Log attached. ServerLog.txt

Hi, I'm evaluating emby since yesterday, to see if it could replace synology audio station for my use case. It almost does a perfect music server, at least for me. The bummer is that some critical functions, that work fine while playing locally, do not seem to work when sending music to a remote DLNA device. When playing music on the local device it's all fine: I see the current playing queue, and can add/remove/reorder items. If I click on the little cast icon and choose a DLNA device, though, like my kodi box for example, then I cannot see the playing queue on the remote device. Nothing at all. The "now playing screen" only contains the current song, there is no list under it. Choosing a song, or an album, clicking the little dots and choosing "add to play queue" has no effect neither. Payback stops at the end of the current song. The one I selected has not been added to the queue on the remote device. My use case is fairly standard, I believe. I have some devices around the house that can play music. I use my phone as a remote control, to send music to one device or another. Not being able to manage the play queue on those remote devices is, for that use case, a show stopper. Is there any chance that this can fixed, eventually? Many thanks for the great work

Hi there, I recently installed Emby server Version 3.0.5675.1 on Windows 7.1 Professional 64-bit Edition. For a couple of days I could Play To my WD TV Live box and a Samsung TV with USB Wireless dongle. Now these DLNA devices do not appear in the Play To menu, although they appear in my Network folder on the server. Has anybody any ideas where I could look to solve this? What logs would be worth a look? Are their settings in Windows that may be interfering with Emby's ability to see DLNA devices? Regards, Brian

Hi Guys, Could you please confirm whether SC plug-in for Emby really works? I can browse some of my SC content in the folder tree from a DLNA client but when i try to play any, it fails and keep jumping to next track. I tried with different DLNA clients such as 8player or iMediaShare on IOS as well as with renders like samsung and panasonic smart tvs and mede8er media box but no luck ;-( I'm using latest nightly built of Emby on Windows 10, tried the stable version but its DLNA server functionality is somehow broken. Anyway, some logs attached, your help is greatly appreciated. [uPDATE] -> It works if i browse the DLNA server and play content from mede8er! Now testing with 8player client.... [uPDATE2] -> I created another custom profile for 8player client and it did work like a charm! [sOLVED] Hi Guys, I created a custom profile for my mede8er player but so far could NOT get the direct play functionality working, it keeps converting my flacs to mp3 and then stream to mede8er. Is there any way to change default behavior from streaming to direct play for all files? I edited default.xml, added flac into direct play sections, but every time i restart the server, it reloads the original files from somewhere. Following log appears WITH OUT my custom profile IN PLACE ; IF i add a custom profile, "Info Dlna" section never appears again (i was hoping to see, yes we found your custom profile type of entry in the log files ;-)) see attached files. 2017-01-14 21:43:26.9227 Info Dlna: No matching device profile found. Dears, 1stly, my wishes to all for a shiny 2017!!! I would like to express my appreciation for the valuable efforts & support within this Emby "Technosystem"! Now that Subtitles and Resume functionalities are fully working on Samsung Smart TVs via DLNA, I would appreciate considering support for Direct Play of LiveTV content to DLNA smart TVs. In my case, the Live TV content is an M3U list of HTTP-based mpeg-ts streams (.TS), which is currently direct-played to DLNA TV through XUPNPD DLNA media server. Having the same level of functionality through Emby Media server will be a great addition. More specifically, no probing of streams is necessary and no attributes (size, audio channels, duration,...) are needed in describing those streams when browsing the M3U list through the DLNA TV. Below is the DLNA Browse response from XUPNPD to TV: <res size="0" protocolInfo="http-get:*:video/mpeg:DLNA.ORG_PN=MPEG_TS_SD_NA_ISO;DLNA.ORG_OP=00;DLNA.ORG_CI=0;DLNA.ORG_FLAGS=01700000000000000000000000000000"> http://url:4044/proxy/0_1_2_23.mpeg_ts</res> Based on the above, keeping the original URL for the individual live streams (assuming mpeg-ts) should be fine for Samsung Smart TV DLNA. What I have noticed so far is that any attempt to stream a transcoded live tv channel from Emby to Smart TV (via DLNA) is failing due to the significant delay (over 15 seconds) resulting from probing/transcoding. Thank you for your support, Wayve

I've successfully configured a DLNA renderer on the server, so it appears in the devices list and I can play contents on it, thus gaining another zone in this setup. Still there are some flaws, I supposed caused by the implementation of this renderer, but still I'll post the instructions there for the setup on ubuntu. First, we'll install the required gstreamer libraries, in it's latest version: sudo apt-get install libupnp-dev libgstreamer1.0-dev gstreamer1.0-plugins-base \ gstreamer1.0-plugins-good gstreamer1.0-plugins-bad gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly \ gstreamer1.0-libav gstreamer1.0-alsa alsa-utils Then we'll have to get the gmrender-resurrect renderer by Henner Zeller sudo apt-get install autoconf automake libtool git git clone https://github.com/hzeller/gmrender-resurrect.git cd gmrender-resurrect ./autogen.sh ./configure make sudo make install Then we'll make sure all the required volume controls are up and unmuted sudo alsamixer sudo alsactrl store Then we setup the init script. We'll need to change the default user in the script and the name for the device, if we want so. sudo cp scripts/init.d/gmediarenderer /etc/init.d/ sudo nano /etc/init.d/gmediarenderer The changes: DAEMON_USER="emby:audio" UPNP_DEVICE_NAME="MyDevice"USER=emby HOME=/emby Then we can end by putting the service online (in ubuntu 15.04 vivid): sudo systemctl enable gmediarenderer sudo shutdown -r now ps aux | grep gmedia #for testing it's running after the reboot. Nothing more with it. Just make sure your sound device it's recognized by the system and the volume it's up. Notes: I found that I can't change tracks using the previous/next buttons in the web interface. The interface displays the change but the renderer still plays the previous track. Then when the played track finishes, it stops playing and interface stays idle. Perhaps it's a problem with gmediarenderer. dunno.

I've noticed that videos played via PlayTo with DLNA doesn't allow showing subtitles, as if it didn't have one. Can the devs reproduce this? Does subtitles appears when you PlayTo something? Thanks

Somewhere within the last 2-3 updates, I lost the ability to find the Emby server on any of my Samsung TV's. Currently running Version 3.0.8400.0. Emby works fine however on all other computers and portable devices. Seems to be a DLNA issue. Any suggestions? Thx,

Hello, I'm using Emby Server (3.0.8500.0) for serving media onto my TV via DLNA. However, subtitles are not handled correctly. Please see this image shot of the media info (attached). My questions: 1.) Why is the first subtitle (subrip) marked as default? 2.) Why is the first subtitle (subrip) marked as forced? 3.) I have set smart subtitle handling in my profile, and set the preferred language to Hungarian. I have the hungarian external subtitle file, but it's not forced. Why? Result: first subtitle is played over DLNA which is english (forced). How can I override it to use my language preference (which is hun, set in profile settings) over DLNA? Thank you.

I'm running emby in an openmediavault instance on a raspberry pi2. I turned up my 2 tv, an LG LF590V and a Panasonic AS650. Both are recognized in the cast menu (together with "My devices" obviously). When I try to browse DLNA server from both Emby DLNA doesn't appear. If I start minidlna this shows up quickly in the TVs menu. I set "Blast alive messages" at 30sec, "Enable Dlna server" is checked and also "Enable DLNA Play To".. What's happen? attached the log after a server restart server-63583820979.txt

Hi Up until few days ago my system was working perfectly. I have been following a thread related to WDTV that looks similar however my LG TV doesn't pick up the server at all. I think there could be other issues so I've attached a log that has errors so that you can advise if the issue is similar or something entirely different. Web and app access is fine. Just the TV where we do all of our watching is not working. Any advice is appreciated. Regards server-63612531901.txt

Force transcoding for all, cant get dlna profiles to work
wraymando posted a topic in General/Windows
Evening All, Has anyone got some advice for getting a device to transcode all media? Effectively anything other than AVI/SD content causes stuttering and other playback issues on emby for android, however I've noticed that if the media server does all the heavy lifting (which it is more than capable of) then playback is smoother and more reliable. I've tried creating and modifying DLNA profiles to prevent direct play (even removed the directory mappings too) but it still direct plays/streams. It would be ace if you could select from the devices list your device and set some options at the device level (even if it just created a profile for you) Any ideas or thoughts? I even tried Kodi but my android tv KOs when mediacodec is used and without it the quality is naff- 9 replies

Hey there so I figured I'd report this issue or inquire on how to fix it. For probably a couple months now Xbox One when DLNA streaming will no longer show Movie Posters, Season Posters, etc... Just wondering if this is a bug or how it can be fixed thanks!
-
For some reason Emby is not showing in the Xbox One media player. The PC that Emby server is installed on shows with no problem. My question is this on the Emby side or is it my console? I've tried different blast alive messaging timings with no avail. The only solution that works is to restart the Xbox although that is something I don't want to keep doing!!!!

Hello everybody I have a Panasonic Viera TV (I'm disappointed with it by comparing with other operting systems like Samsung, LG's OS or finally Android) I'm trying to open .ts files (playlist.m3u) and I've done it using Mezzmo. But, TV is opening only SD .ts files, other .ts HD files, TV isn't opening. Can anyone tell me, how to open these (.ts HD) files (using Mezzmo or any other way)? Sorry if you don't understand my English, and many thanks!

Hello. I'm pretty sure I read every transcoding/dlna thread ever created. The thing is I cannot make Emby work properly with a 2012 Sony Bravia. It apparently transcodes (or not even) to the wrong format, making impossible to seek/resume playback on the TV. I'm pretty sure it's a profile related issue. What I do know is that for some reason Plex's profile for the TV works no out of the box, so I would like someone to help me recreate the same profile in Emby <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Client name="Sony Bravia 2012"> <!-- Author: Plex Inc. based on original profile from Yardco --> <!-- http://kb.sony-europe.com/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?St=332,E=0000000000126929163,Key=215,SXI=14,Case=obj(26884) --> <Identification> <Header name="X-AV-Client-Info" regex=".*KDL-\d{2}[A-Z]X\d5(\d|G).*" /> <DeviceDescription> <Manufacturer substring="Sony" /> <FriendlyName regex="KDL-\d{2}[A-Z]X\d5(\d|G).*" /> </DeviceDescription> </Identification> <DeviceDescription> <ModelName>Windows Media Player Sharing</ModelName> <ModelNumber>3.0</ModelNumber> <ModelUrl>http://www.microsoft.com/</ModelUrl> <Manufacturer>Microsoft Corporation</Manufacturer> <ManufacturerUrl>http://www.microsoft.com/</ManufacturerUrl> <X-DlnaCap /> <Sony-AggregationFlags>10</Sony-AggregationFlags> </DeviceDescription> <Settings> <Setting name="AlbumArtPN" value="JPEG_TN" /> <Setting name="EmitSinglePhotoResource" value="true" /> </Settings> <TranscodeTargets> <VideoProfile container="mpegts" codec="h264" audioCodec="aac,mp3,ac3" context="streaming"> <Setting name="MpegtsM2tsMode" value="true" /> </VideoProfile> <MusicProfile container="mp3" codec="mp3" /> <PhotoProfile container="jpeg"> <Setting name="ChromaSubsampling" value="4:2:2" /> </PhotoProfile> </TranscodeTargets> <DirectPlayProfiles> <VideoProfile container="mpegts" codec="h264" audioCodec="ac3,aac,mp3" /> <VideoProfile container="mpegts" codec="mpeg2video" audioCodec="mp3,mp2" /> <VideoProfile container="mp4" codec="h264,mpeg4" audioCodec="ac3,aac,mp3,mp2" /> <VideoProfile container="avi" codec="mpeg4" audioCodec="ac3,mp3" /> <VideoProfile container="mpeg" codec="mpeg2video,mpeg1video" audioCodec="mp3,mp2" /> <VideoProfile container="asf" codec="wmv2,wmv3,vc1" audioCodec="wmav2,wmapro,wmavoice" /> <MusicProfile container="mp3" codec="mp3" /> <MusicProfile container="asf" codec="wmav2,wmapro,wmavoice" /> </DirectPlayProfiles> <CodecProfiles> <VideoCodec name="*"> <Limitations> <UpperBound name="video.width" value="1920" isRequired="true" /> <UpperBound name="video.height" value="1080" isRequired="true" /> </Limitations> </VideoCodec> <VideoAudioCodec name="ac3"> <Limitations> <UpperBound name="audio.channels" value="6" /> </Limitations> </VideoAudioCodec> </CodecProfiles> <ContainerProfiles> <PhotoContainer name="*"> <Limitations> <UpperBound name="media.width" value="1920" isRequired="true" /> <UpperBound name="media.height" value="1080" isRequired="true" /> </Limitations> </PhotoContainer> </ContainerProfiles> <DlnaMediaProfiles> <!-- These are from the Serviio profile. Hello everyone, I am trying to set up the Media Browser Server from my mac to connect with my Sony Bravia 40W605. Everything seems to work fine except for MKV files, which is surprising because the Sony is compatible with this media container. I suspect the reason for the issue must be related with the fact that when browsing the media folder from the TV mkv files are shown to be mpeg (this is not happening using PLEX and mkv are played fine). Changing the file extension to avi and the file plays (a quick fix I want to avoid). I've have also noticed that a transcoding log and an active device (TV) is transcoding when trying to play a mkv file. Any help will be appreciated since I like better Media Browser than Plex... Thanks in advance!

Not appearing in "Media player" (router attached to router)
roryfa@outlook.com posted a topic in DLNA
Hello, Running Version 3.0.5882.0 on my computer connected to RouterA. When My Xbox One is connected to RouterA, I have no problem seeing my Emby server on my Xbox (from the "Media player" app) Here the problem: I connected a new router, RouterB to RouterA. My computer continues to be connected to RouterA. However, now my Xbox One is connected to RouterB. I no longer see my Emby server on my Xbox (from the "Media player" app). Do I need to do some sort of port forwarding for RouterA/RouterB? I was able to verify that another laptop can connect to RouterB via WiFi and I can successfully see the Emby server in a web browser using the local IP address (192.168.0.10:8096) Any thoughts? Thanks! Rory -
Fairly new to home video distribution, but learning as I go. A little bit about my setup: (Home NAS, work in progress) WD 2TB HDD via USB3 to ASUS AC68 router. Real NAS to built/installed soon. In the meantime, movies are a hodgepodge of old/older/new rips residing on WD USB3 HDD. All new rips are made using makemkv keeping DD5.1 then encoded using handbrake high preset and optimized for web checked. The resulting m4v file contains H264, AC3 (6 channel) and AAC (2 channel) passthrough for maximum compatibility, portability, etc Router connects to 1gb switch for distro throughout house. WiFi is available, but all testing is conducted via 1gb ethernet, though some clients are only fast (100mb) ethernet. I have recently been experimenting, trying to determine a good 'all-around' software solution. I understand there's no magic bullet, just trying different things to see what works. I have installed XBMC, Plex, MBS (MB3 release branch) on a middling laptop running an A4 APU (5400 I believe). Here's my immediate question/concern/issue: I have multiple videos described above (m4v container, H264 video, AC3/AAC audio) that play without transcode to a Sony BDP-S5100 via DLNA off of the ASUS router. If I play the same files from MBS via DLNA on the same Sony BD, there's tons of blockiness, stuttering etc. I'm fairly certain this is due to trancoding. Leading to 2 questions: 1. It looks like you are implementing 'better' DLNA support to avoid trancoding when it isn't needed. I believe that would fix this issue. Am I correct? 2. Why would the simple fact of trancoding these simple encoded files cause the result to look so awful? Thanks and sorry for the long post. Just wanted to include as much relevant detail as I could. My specific issue lies with two devices in my home: Sony BDP-S390 and BDP-S5100. Long story short, there doesn't appear to be an acceptable/reliable way to differentiate these two devices using HTTP Headers or DMR responses. Therefore, they end up using the same DLNA profile in Emby. I have 100% reliable playback on the 5100 with disk backups to mkv done with makemkv (DVD backup, MKV, mpeg2video, AC3). BUT, the 390 refuses to play any mkv I have thrown at it. Any suggestions for getting mkv's to transcode to one device while direct playing them to another? Any possibility of doing direct profile assignment for just such an issue? Perhaps an option within the profile to put an IP, similar to how we can designate a user to always use a profile? Not entirely relevant to the questions above, but I'm attaching my current working profile for the 5100, which the 390 uses as well, with failing mkvs on the 390. Sony Blu-ray Player 5100 test.xml

Over the last couple of months, as I've sporadically upgraded emby, I've noticed some content streaming issues via DLNA to my KDL-42W670A. I've had these in the past but was extremely happy with how comprehensive emby was before now. Until Jan 1st I don't think I'd ever actually had something streamed by emby give me an Unsupported content warning. The most understandable is when something will stream, gives the warning, but then audio or video wont work... but extremely confusingly and somewhat telling that something is set wrong in the profile, I have a complete show that plays fine, Audio works, Video works... but displays the unsupported content warning over the top of the show that is playing fine!? I'm happy to dig in and begin tweaking the profile to try and find the source of the issue, but I'm not sure what the best way to begin debugging this issue is. I'm not even sure how I can confirm which profile emby is using to stream to the TV and that the issue isnt emby mistakenly using too new of a profile, one that might be meant for newer sony bravia tvs. Sony's website is frankly useless for this sort of info. I checked the codec support and the show that plays audio and video fine but with the unsupported content warning over the top is using the supported codecs, creating further confusion as to how to get to the bottom of this DLNA issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
