Hi, I just installed the latest version available (3.4.0) for my Synology NAS, and everything seems fine except that the DLNA server is not seen by any device. No problem with the installation, server shows "running" and the Web part, media scanning, etc. is fine. Also the firewall on the NAS should be configured correctly (which is part of the installation, opening the 4, or 5 ports). On the same NAS I have other DLNA servers that have no problem working (Serviio, Plex); of course I stopped them before the installation, and there are other servers claiming port 1900, Synology's own AudioStation, and there's a minissdpd, but Serviio, for instance, works fine with those running. I did try several tests: 1. Emby's own rundiags, no real problem found, but several oddities: CPU 0 is marked as disabled, it is not, it finds several copies of ffmpeg, ffprobe (but Emby's log say its using its own, and this has nothing to do with DLNA). 2. Since my TV didn't find the server, and also Windows didn't show it, I tried to connect Kodi from my PC, but it doesn't detect the DLNA server. Same for Device Spy. 3. I deleted the installation, and did it again. No change. 4. I started changing settings, enabling debug logs, specifying bind address (Emby is binding to the IPv6 address, which I think is mostly useless, the TV uses only IPv4), setting the default user. The log does show that Emby finds the TV, and identifies it correctly. But it was Emby finding the TV, not the other way around. Hello, several of the movies I play on my old Sony Bravia via DLNA develop a sound offset during playback. Not all of them, but a considerable number. I mean that picture and sound divert and it is getting worse the longer the movie plays. Any thought why this happens? The files are intact, if I play them on the new Samsung (not using DLNA) they work fine. Thanks H.

Currently I’m trying to get a media server set up to play corporate messages and videos around the plant. I’ve managed to set up Emby a powerful Intel Xeon PC, and I’ve been able to cast a video file to one of our Panasonic smart tvs. However, this is not exactly the ideal situation. Ideally I want to be able to play a single folder, with multiple video files inside, and play it on a constant loop to the 8 TVs around the plant. Is this possible in Emby? Currently I’m only able to cast one file at a time, to one TV at a time...

Hi, After playing with the DLNA profile I was able to direct play HEVC in my LG WebOS 3.0 But there is a file I'm not able to play. I recently added a 32" Samsung M5300 Tv (Tizen) to our house but it has an issue with specific videos. Hi. Has anyone successfully enabled DLNA in Emby via Docker and has Bridge networking configured instead of Host networking? I follow all the instructions but DLNA is NEVER visible from outside the container. If I change networking to HOST, then everything works fine.

I am running the latest server Version 3.0.5231.40980 with the new DLNA Server. I tried streaming to my PS3 and while the MB server shows up in the menu, there is nothing but an error message when I select it. It specifically says "there are no titles", and a "DLNA Protocol error (7522)" shows up. Both my PC and Plex have no issue connecting through DLNA. I have been using Plex up until now but was excited to try MB. I have a attached the resulting log file after selecting the MB server icon. Has anyone else successfully connected through PS3? Is there something in the PS3 profile that can be adjusted? Thanks. log.txt

Hi there, I cannot playback to my Marantz anymore. It worked quite good before. But after the last two updates it does not work. I can select the Marantz SR7007 and start playing but the player bar does not proceed ;( Just on a side node. With my Fairphone 2 (Open OS 17.04.0, with only F-Shop installed) the Emby client also stopped working. I am getting a blank page with the man icon at the top right. Clicking on it leads to some page with programming code showing up. Greetings and thanks again for your good work!

Hi It would be very useful if we could add other available DLNA servers on the network as media source, this way Emby can be a central media player/library. I run couple DLNA servers mainly because each has its own strengths. thanks

I would love to have DLNA Remote available so we can get more customers and not need to use the chromecast. Currently it is only possible to use DLNA within the same network. If DLNA is available outside the same network, such as Youtube and Netflix, I can use my premiere account better. I hope you take that into account. With the 3.2.26.0 release, DLNA started behaving differently. I have Movies separated into folders and the server set to display the folders as folders. This works on the web client, but when I access the server via DLNA and select Folders/Movies, instead of seeing the sub-folders under Movies, it just displays the video files. Any ideas?

Hello, As you can see in the screenshots below, something goes wrong with the ID3 tags when browsing the Emby server using UPnP/DLNA. The song artists are interpreted as album artists, and for the songs some ID3 tags are missing. The tags are correct on the server though. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I've seen this topic pop out few times, Is there a way to provide folder browsing for dlna same as via webapp folder structure browsing? Basicly when I have a structure like this - Movies ---Directory 1 -- movies here... ---Directory 2 -- movies here... ---Directory 3 -- movies here... --- lots of other movies here... The directores will show up in webUI properly when browsing via "folders" - but DLNA will not show subfolders - evereything will be stacked together on same level - Is there a config file option i need to touch to enable this functionality - every other dlna server that I used has this feature, it is especially useful for music albums, or multiple tv series browsing. I'm using Version 3.2.33.0 under Ubuntu 16.04.

Hi folks, Since a few days ago we've noticed the audio sometimes cuts out on our Chromecast. I've done some testing and found the following: It only cuts out when transcoding and the audio is mapped to AAC, MP3 works fine. It will cut out within the first few minutes. Usually between 1 and 3 minutes. Stopping and restarting playback fixes the problem for a few more minutes until it cuts out again. I've rolled back the server version to a time I knew it worked OK yet the problem remains. Can anyone replicate this problem for me, just so I know I'm not going crazy? Cheers,

Hello, i'm here to ask some question. i've an Xbox One S link to a receiver (UHD) to a UHD TV so set the display in 3840x 2160. and Audio in Bit stream. i also have an emby server (linux) so when i use the xbox to play using media player the emby DLNA it works, but not for 4K movie. but, if i use the "watch on DLNA feature" xbox one from my device it use the "Movie player" no more the Media player,it seems the movie player can handle x265 file. so i try to modify the dlna profile (increasing the bitrate, adding x265 and HEVC somewhere) some movie can be seen in direct play, the orther are transcoded, and in stereo. But if i chose from the emby remote fonction to change the audio track, for some movie, it give acces to direct play. And on the Xbox Movie App i can change the audio track and no more transcoding on the server (it appears as direct play). So how can i do to make a simple custom profile for my Xbox One S to do Only direct play for all file not transcoding video nor Audio? Hi ! I have a screen attached to a Chromecast v2. I have a Raspberry Pi 2, with Emby server with DLNA support. From my iPad, with the Emby official application, I can stream all my movies. But, for each video, there is transcoding, my CPU is > 99% even for videos that don't require transcoding because the Chromecast v2 support it. If I use a simple iPad application to play a DLNA video to my Chromecast (without any transcoding), I can play the same video with less than 5% of CPU usage. So, I suppose this could be fixed if I create a ChromeCast profile to skip some supported audio/video codecs, to be in direct play, but it's really complicated for me to do this because there is a lot of informations to known, and my knowledges are too limited to fill this correctly. I would like to known if someone have already created this DLNA profile and could share it please? Best regards,

Hi all, I use a Chromecast between various TVs in the house, and my son's TV will not play audio when AC3 is being passed through. The other TVs work fine with AC3 so I guess its a limitation of my son's TV. I've looked for a Chromecast profile in "%AppData%\Roaming\Emby-Server\config\dlna\system" yet cannot find one. Could someone point me in the right direction to tell Emby to transcode ac3 for Chromecast? Thanks,

I've using Emby v3.2.20.0 plugin on a FreeNAS server and previously had DLNA running fine, but I was having issues with genres not displaying so I decided to do the I.T. thing of turning it off and on again. So unchecked "Enable Dlna server" click save and re-check "Enable Dlna server" and click saved, but now DLNA doesn't work at all. Hi everyone, the issues I have is with my Sony TV BRAVIA KDL-32EX521 via DLNA. - When I pause the video and press play the files plays from beginning - When I press Fast Forward the screen goes blank - When I press Rewind the file starts from the beginning I have Serviio and used Plex before without issue. Example When an external client of my network puts the display configuration 480p - 720kbps (or any other) and deproduz the film is chosen, but if it plays the image of the device via DNLA to the TV the transmission rate changes and starts To lock the movie, it usually changes to a higher speed that my upload is able to accept or gets direct transmission and locking. I would like it to respect the rule, if I chose 480p - 720kbps display setup that runs perfect, when I play via DLNA on tv, it continued to maintain the 480p - 720kbps setting that I had chosen not to hang. It would be interesting if you could control the rate equal to the option you have in settings "Maximum Chromecast bit rate" on which I can put 480p - 720kbps ---- Another problem Is that when I mark the "Bit rate limit for internet streaming for example 1 mega and I click save, it goes back to the login screen and does not get marked the option I chose. Bit rate limit for internet streaming, this means that if I have 5 megs of upload on my network and I dial with 1 mega the option, all external users will only use one mega of my connection, correct? Gostaria que ele respeita-se a regra, se eu escolhi configuração de exibição 480p - 720kbps que roda perfeito, quando eu jogar via DLNA na tv, ele continuasse a manter a configuração 480p - 720kbps que eu havia escolhido para não travar. Seria interessante se pudesse controlar a taxa igual a opção que tem em configurações "Taxa de bits máxima do Chromecast" na qual eu posso colocar 480p - 720kbps ---- Outro problema È que quando eu marco a opção "limite de taxa de bits para streaming da internet para 1 mega e clico em salvar, ele volta para tela de login e não fica marcado a opção que eu escolhi. limite de taxa de bits para streaming da internet , isso significa que se eu tenho 5 megas de upload na minha rede e eu marcar com 1 mega a opção, todos os usuarios externos usarão apenas um mega da minha conexão, correto? exemplo, 5 usuarios ao mesmo tempo, 1 mega cada um estaria usando. São esses 2 problemas Luke, me da uma força ai, pois sou do Brasil e ainda esse mês irei adquirir o premiere lifetime. Obrigado Amigo

Today when some device is connected to the internal network, it can access Emby media server as if was the "Default User" chosen in DLNA > SETTINGS , if the device doesn't have a matching custom profile. Inside that combo box, it lists all Emby users, but it lacks the option to "No access" in this combo, because I want to restrict DLNA access only to already authorized devices. I don't want guests at my home being able to watch my media without my consentiment.

DLNA too unreliable now.... I've been a user of Emby for a long long time since the old Windows Media Centre MB add-in days. Back then i would use Serviio for DLNA, and MB3 for windows home theatre. But once MB got DLNA to a pretty mature state, i turned Serviiio off, and settled for MB/Emby (even though it still doesn't handle playing music well to older devices). On my Samsung TV's - i use the Samsung Emby app - its great, lovely interface, streams well, works pretty well most of the time. However for all my other devices including our main LG TV, and the kids Sony Bravia's - We've always used the Emby Android app - and 'Play to' DLNA functionality. Until recently anyway... I cannot recall when - but somewhere around Feb/March this year - there was a release which changed the DLNA code to such a degree that it now renders Emby useless for all my non-Samsung App devices. 1. "Play To" hasn't worked for many months, and there is evidently some kind of issue which is not with my home setup. For example, when using the android app, if i choose my LG TV as the Play To device, then select some media - the little green "Play" arrow doesn't even appear. On other occasions, when it does appear - pressing it just does nothing - no error - no nothing. 2. Normal DLNA use: This has been intermittent between releases. Most often the Emby server doest appear as a server on the TV's DLNA server list. For a few releases - the server appears, and can sometimes make it all the way through a tv show without dropping off with a server error, and not appearing in the list again..... Interestingly, i did find that after every server update - if i go into the DLNA devices list in the web admin, and delete every device listed - i can often get the Emby server to re-appear on the TV's. (PS - a delete all button would be a great addition to that config tab). So... as of 3.0.5980, and with a full delete of all the "Devices" from Emby - Play To predictably still doesn't work, but at least the server shows up on the LG again - and I'll set the family down to watch a movie.. I'm happy to supply log files etc, but it feels like a point solution or identification to what i suggest is a more fundamental problem with a code change way back earlier this year. I'd also consider going back to an old release from say Dec 2015 (is that possible by the way), but i'm worried that a recent database change / upgrade would mean that that isn't possible?? Until then, I'll keep my fingers crossed and upgrade every time a release comes out, in the hope the issue gets sorted.... If anyone else is suffering the same problem - perhaps you could Like or follow the posts and we can see if this is more pervasive than just the odd system with a error..
